1. വാഴ്ചകള്ക്കും അധികാരങ്ങള്ക്കും കീഴടങ്ങി അനുസരിപ്പാനും സകലസല്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കും ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിപ്പാനും

1. Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work,

2. ആരെക്കൊണ്ടും ദൂഷണം പറയാതെയും കലഹിക്കാതെയും ശാന്തന്മാരായി സകലമനുഷ്യരോടും പൂര്ണ്ണസൌമ്യത കാണിപ്പാനും അവരെ ഔര്മ്മപ്പെടുത്തുക.

2. to slander no one, to avoid fighting, and to be kind, always showing gentleness to all people.

3. മുമ്പെ നാമും ബുദ്ധികെട്ടവരും അനുസരണമില്ലാത്തവരും വഴിതെറ്റി നടക്കുന്നവരും നാനാമോഹങ്ങള്ക്കും ഭോഗങ്ങള്ക്കും അധീനരും ഈര്ഷ്യയിലും അസൂയയിലും കാലം കഴിക്കുന്നവരും ദ്വേഷിതരും അന്യോന്യം പകെക്കുന്നവരും ആയിരുന്നുവല്ലോ.

3. For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, captives of various passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, detesting one another.

4. എന്നാല് നമ്മുടെ രക്ഷിതാവായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദയയും മനുഷ്യപ്രീതിയും ഉദിച്ചപ്പോള്

4. But when the goodness and love for man appeared from God our Savior,

5. അവന് നമ്മെ നാം ചെയ്ത നീതിപ്രവൃത്തികളാലല്ല, തന്റെ കരുണപ്രകാരമത്രേ രക്ഷിച്ചതു.

5. He saved us-- not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

6. This [Spirit] He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

7. നമ്മുടെ രക്ഷിതാവായ യേശു ക്രിസ്തുമൂലം നമ്മുടെമേല് ധാരാളമായി പകര്ന്ന പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിന്റെ നവീകരണംകൊണ്ടും തന്നേ.

7. so that having been justified by His grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life.

8. ഈ വചനം വിശ്വാസയോഗ്യം; ദൈവത്തില് വിശ്വസിച്ചവര് സല്പ്രവൃത്തികളില് ഉത്സാഹികളായിരിപ്പാന് കരുതേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ ഇതു ഉറപ്പിച്ചു പറയേണം എന്നു ഞാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു. ഇതു ശുഭവും മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും ഉപകാരവും ആകുന്നു.

8. This saying is trustworthy. I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed God might be careful to devote themselves to good works. These are good and profitable for everyone.

9. മൌഢ്യതര്ക്കവും വംശാവലികളും കലഹവും ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള വാദവും ഒഴിഞ്ഞുനില്ക്ക. ഇവ നിഷ്പ്രയോജനവും വ്യര്ത്ഥവുമല്ലോ.

9. But avoid foolish debates, genealogies, quarrels, and disputes about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.

10. സഭയില് ഭിന്നത വരുത്തുന്ന മനുഷ്യനോടു ഒന്നു രണ്ടു വട്ടം ബുദ്ധി പറഞ്ഞശേഷം അവനെ ഒഴിക്ക;

10. Reject a divisive person after a first and second warning,

11. ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവന് വക്രബുദ്ധിയായി പാപം ചെയ്തു തന്നെത്താന് കുറ്റം വിധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിനക്കു അറിയാമല്ലോ.

11. knowing that such a person is perverted and sins, being self-condemned.

12. ഞാന് അര്ത്തെമാസിനെയോ തിഹിക്കൊസിനെയോ അങ്ങോട്ടു അയക്കുമ്പോള് നിക്കൊപ്പൊലിസില് വന്നു എന്നോടു ചേരുവാന് ശ്രമിക്ക. അവിടെ ഞാന് ശീതകാലം കഴിപ്പാന് നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. When I send Artemas to you, or Tychicus, make every effort to come to me in Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there.

13. ന്യായശാസ്ത്രിയായ സേനാസിന്നു അപ്പൊല്ലോസിന്നും ഒരു മുട്ടും വരാതവണ്ണം ഉത്സാഹിച്ചു വഴിയാത്ര അയക്ക.

13. Diligently help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey, so that they will lack nothing.

14. നമുക്കുള്ളവരും ഫലമില്ലാത്തവര് ആകാതെ അത്യാവശ്യസംഗതികളില് സല്പ്രവൃത്തികള്ക്കു മുമ്പരായിരിപ്പാന് പഠിക്കട്ടെ.

14. And our people must also learn to devote themselves to good works for cases of urgent need, so that they will not be unfruitful.

15. എന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ളവര് എല്ലാവരും നിനക്കു വന്ദനം ചെല്ലുന്നു. ഞങ്ങളെ വിശ്വാസത്തില് സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും വന്ദനം ചൊല്ലുക. കൃപ നിങ്ങളോടെല്ലാവരോടുംകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ
