1. അതുകൊണ്ടു നാം വല്ലപ്പോഴും ഒഴുകിപ്പോകാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു കേട്ടതു അധികം ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ കരുതിക്കൊള്വാന് ആവശ്യമാകുന്നു.

1. Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let {them} slip.

2. ദൂതന്മാര്മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനം സ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കയും ഔരോരോ ലംഘനത്തിന്നും അനുസരണക്കേടിന്നും ന്യായമായ പ്രതിഫലം ലഭിക്കയും ചെയ്തു എങ്കില്

2. For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward;

3. കര്ത്താവു താന് പറഞ്ഞുതുടങ്ങിയതും ദൈവം അടയാളങ്ങളാലും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളാലും വിവിധവീര്യ്യപ്രവൃത്തികളാലും തന്റെ ഇഷ്ടപ്രകാരം പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനെ നല്കിക്കൊണ്ടും സാക്ഷി നിന്നതും കേട്ടവര്

3. How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by them that heard {him};

4. നമുക്കു ഉറപ്പിച്ചുതന്നതുമായ ഇത്ര വലിയ രക്ഷ നാം ഗണ്യമാക്കാതെ പോയാല് എങ്ങനെ തെറ്റി ഒഴിയും?

4. God also bearing {them} testimony, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?

5. നാം പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്ന ഭാവിലോകത്തെ അവന് ദൂതന്മാര്ക്കല്ലല്ലോ കീഴ്പെടുത്തിയതു.

5. For to the angels he hath not put in subjection the world to come, concerning which we speak.

6. എന്നാല് “മനുഷ്യനെ നീ ഔര്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന് എന്തു? മനുഷ്യപുത്രനെ സന്ദര്ശിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന് എന്തുമാത്രം?

6. But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?

7. നീ അവനെ ദൂതന്മാരെക്കാള് അല്പം മാത്രം താഴ്ത്തി; തേജസ്സും ബഹുമാനവും അവനെ അണിയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ കൈകളുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികള്ക്കു നീ അവനെ അധിപതി ആക്കി,

7. Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honor, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:

8. സകലവും അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കീഴാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു ഒരുവന് ഒരേടത്തു സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുന്നു. സകലവും അവന്നു കീഴാക്കിയതില് ഒന്നിനെയും കീഴ്പെടുത്താതെ വിട്ടിട്ടില്ല; എന്നാല് ഇപ്പോള് സകലവും അവന്നു കീഴ്പെട്ടതായി കാണുന്നില്ല.

8. Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing {that is} not made subject to him. But now we see not yet all things subjected to him.

9. എങ്കിലും ദൈവകൃപയാല് എല്ലാവര്ക്കും വേണ്ടി മരണം ആസ്വദിപ്പാന് ദൂതന്മാരിലും അല്പം ഒരു താഴ്ചവന്നവനായ യേശു മരണം അനുഭവിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ മഹത്വവും ബഹുമാനവും അണിഞ്ഞവനായി നാം കാണുന്നു.

9. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

10. സകലത്തിന്നും ലാക്കും സകലത്തിന്നും കാരണഭൂതനുമായവന് അനേകം പുത്രന്മാരെ തേജസ്സിലേക്കു നടത്തുമ്പോള് അവരുടെ രക്ഷാനായകനെ കഷ്ടാനുഭവങ്ങളാല് തികഞ്ഞവനാക്കുന്നതു യുക്തം ആയിരുന്നു.

10. For it became him, for whom {are} all things, and by whom {are} all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the Captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

11. വിശുദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്നവന്നും വിശുദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നവര്ക്കും എല്ലാം ഒരുവനല്ലോ പിതാവു; അതു ഹേതുവായി അവന് അവരെ സഹോദരന്മാര് എന്നു വിളിപ്പാന് ലജ്ജിക്കാതെ

11. For both he that sanctifieth, and they who are sanctified, {are} all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

12. “ഞാന് നിന്റെ നാമത്തെ എന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരോടു കീര്ത്തിക്കും; സഭാമദ്ധ്യേ ഞാന് നിന്നെ സ്തുതിക്കും”

12. Saying, I will declare thy name to my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise to thee.

13. എന്നും “ഞാന് അവനില് ആശ്രയിക്കും” എന്നും ഇതാ, ഞാനും ദൈവം എനിക്കു തന്ന മക്കളും” എന്നും പറയുന്നു.

13. And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold, I, and the children which God hath given me.

14. മക്കള് ജഡരക്തങ്ങളോടു കൂടിയവര് ആകകൊണ്ടു അവനും അവരെപ്പോലെ ജഡരക്തങ്ങളോടു കൂടിയവനായി മരണത്തിന്റെ അധികാരിയായ പിശാചിനെ

14. Since then the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

15. തന്റെ മരണത്താല് നീക്കി ജീവപര്യന്തം മരണഭീതിയാല് അടിമകളായിരുന്നവരെ ഒക്കെയും വിടുവിച്ചു.

15. And deliver them, who, through fear of death, were all their life-time subject to bondage.

16. ദൂതന്മാരെ സംരക്ഷണചെയ്വാനല്ല അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ സന്തതിയെ സംരക്ഷണ ചെയ്വാനത്രേ അവന് വന്നതു.
യെശയ്യാ 41:8-9

16. For verily he took not on {him the nature of} angels; but he took on {him} the seed of Abraham.

17. അതുകൊണ്ടു ജനത്തിന്റെ പാപങ്ങള്ക്കു പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം വരുത്തുവാന് അവന് കരുണയുള്ളവനും ദൈവകാര്യത്തില് വിശ്വസ്തമഹാപുരോഹിതനും ആകേണ്ടതിന്നു സകലത്തിലും തന്റെ സഹോദരന് മാരോടു സദൃശനായിത്തീരുവാന് ആവശ്യമായിരുന്നു.

17. Wherefore in all things it behooved him to be made like {his} brethren; that he might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things {pertaining} to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

18. താന് തന്നേ പരീക്ഷിതനായി കഷ്ടമനുഭവിച്ചിരിക്കയാല് പരീക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നവര്ക്കും സഹായിപ്പാന് കഴിവുള്ളവന് ആകുന്നു.

18. For in that he himself hath suffered, being tempted, he is able to succor them that are tempted.
