1. മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു എടുക്കുന്ന ഏതു മഹാപുരോഹിതനും പാപങ്ങള്ക്കായി വഴിപാടും യാഗവും അര്പ്പിപ്പാന് ദൈവകാര്യ്യത്തില് മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും വേണ്ടി നിയമിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.

1. For every high priest being taken from men is appointed on behalf of men in the things respecting God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins;

2. താനും ബലഹീനത പൂണ്ടവനാകയാല് അറിവില്ലാത്തവരോടും വഴി തെറ്റിപ്പോകുന്നവരോടും സഹതാപം കാണിപ്പാന് കഴിയുന്നവനും

2. being able to feel in due measure for those not knowing and being led astray, since he also is circled about with weakness.

3. ബലഹീനതനിമിത്തം ജനത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി എന്നപോലെ തനിക്കു വേണ്ടിയും പാപയാഗം അര്പ്പിക്കേണ്ടിയവനും ആകുന്നു.

3. And because of this he ought to offer for sins as concerning the people, so also concerning himself.

4. എന്നാല് അഹരോനെപ്പോലെ ദൈവം വിളിക്കുന്നവനല്ലാതെ ആരും ആ സ്ഥാനം സ്വതവെ എടുക്കുന്നില്ല.

6. As He also says in another place, 'You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek,' Psa. 110:4

7. ക്രിസ്തു തന്റെ ഐഹിക ജീവകാലത്തു തന്നേ മരണത്തില്നിന്നു രക്ഷിപ്പാന് കഴിയുന്നവനോടു ഉറെച്ച നിലവിളിയോടും കണ്ണുനീരോടുംകൂടെ അപേക്ഷയും അഭയയാചനയും കഴിക്കയും ഭയഭക്തി നിമിത്തം ഉത്തരം ലഭിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

7. who in the days of His flesh was offering both petitions and entreaties to Him being able to save Him from death, with strong crying and tears, and being heard from His godly fear;

8. though being a Son, He learned obedience from what He suffered

9. തന്നെ അനുസരിക്കുന്ന ഏവര്ക്കും നിത്യരക്ഷയുടെ കാരണഭൂതനായിത്തീര്ന്നു.

9. and having been perfected, He came to be the Author of eternal salvation to all the ones obeying Him,

10. having been called out by God as a High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek.

11. ഇതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു വളരെ പറവാനുണ്ടു; എങ്കിലും നിങ്ങള് കേള്പ്പാന് മാന്ദ്യമുള്ളവരായി തീര്ന്നതുകൊണ്ടു തെളിയിച്ചുതരുവാന് വിഷമം.

11. Concerning whom we have much discourse, and hard to interpret, or to speak, since you have come to be dull in the hearings.

12. കാലം നോക്കിയാല് ഇപ്പോള് ഉപദേഷ്ടാക്കന്മാര് ആയിരിക്കേണ്ടുന്ന നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടുകളുടെ ആദ്യപാഠങ്ങളെ തന്നേ വീണ്ടും ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരുവാന് ആവശ്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു; കട്ടിയായുള്ള ആഹാരമല്ല, പാലത്രേ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ആവശ്യമെന്നു വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. For indeed because of the time you are due to be teachers, yet you need to have someone to teach you again the rudiments of the beginning of the Words of God, and you came to be having need of milk, and not of solid food;

13. പാല് കുടിക്കുന്നവന് എല്ലാം നീതിയുടെ വചനത്തില് പരിചയമില്ലാത്തവനത്രേ; അവന് ശിശുവല്ലോ.

13. for everyone partaking of milk is without experience in the Word of Righteousness, for he is an infant.

14. കട്ടിയായുള്ള ആഹാരം നന്മതിന്മകളെ തിരിച്ചറിവാന് തഴക്കത്താല് അഭ്യസിച്ച ഇന്ദ്രിയങ്ങളുള്ളവരായി പ്രായം തികഞ്ഞവര്ക്കേ പറ്റുകയുള്ളു.

14. But solid food is for those full grown, having exercised the faculties through habit, for distinction of both good and bad.
