1. പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നതു രണ്ടാം ലേഖനമല്ലോ.

1. This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder,

2. വിശുദ്ധ പ്രവാചകന്മാര് മുന് പറഞ്ഞ വചനങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാര് മുഖാന്തരം കര്ത്താവും രക്ഷിതാവുമായവന് തന്ന കല്പനയും ഔര്ത്തുകൊള്ളേണമെന്നു ഈ ലേഖനം രണ്ടിനാലും ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ ഔര്മ്മപ്പെടുത്തി നിങ്ങളുടെ പരമാര്ത്ഥമനസ്സു ഉണര്ത്തുന്നു.

2. that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior [spoken] by your apostles.

3. അവന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതയുടെ വാഗ്ദത്തം എവിടെ?

3. Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with [their] mocking, following after their own lusts,

4. പിതാക്കന്മാര് നിദ്രകൊണ്ടശേഷം സകലവും സൃഷ്ടിയുടെ ആരംഭത്തില് ഇരുന്നതുപോലെ തന്നേ ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു സ്വന്തമോഹങ്ങളെ അനുസരിച്ചുനടക്കുന്ന പരിഹാസികള് പരിഹാസത്തോടെ അന്ത്യകാലത്തു വരുമെന്നു വിശേഷാല് അറിഞ്ഞുകൊള്വിന് .

4. and saying, 'Where is the promise of His coming? For [ever] since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.'

5. ആകാശവും വെള്ളത്തില്നിന്നും വെള്ളത്താലും ഉളവായ ഭൂമിയും പണ്ടു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വചനത്താല് ഉണ്ടായി എന്നും

5. For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God [the] heavens existed long ago and [the] earth was formed out of water and by water,

6. അതിനാല് അന്നുള്ള ലോകം ജലപ്രളയത്തില് മുങ്ങി നശിച്ചു എന്നും

6. through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water.

7. ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ ആകാശവും ഭൂമിയും അതേ വചനത്താല് തീക്കായി സൂക്ഷിച്ചും ന്യായവിധിയും ഭക്തികെട്ട മനുഷ്യരുടെ നാശവും സംഭവിപ്പാനുള്ള ദിവസത്തേക്കു കാത്തുമിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നും അവര് മനസ്സോടെ മറന്നുകളയുന്നു.

7. But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

8. എന്നാല് പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, കര്ത്താവിന്നു ഒരു ദിവസം ആയിരം സംവത്സരംപോലെയും ആയിരം സംവത്സരം ഒരു ദിവസംപോലെയും ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നീ കാര്യ്യം നിങ്ങള് മറക്കരുതു.

8. But do not let this one [fact] escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.

9. ചിലര് താമസം എന്നു വിചാരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ കര്ത്താവു തന്റെ വാഗ്ദത്തം നിവര്ത്തിപ്പാന് താമസിക്കുന്നില്ല. ആരും നശിച്ചുപോകാതെ എല്ലാവരും മാനസാന്തരപ്പെടുവാന് അവന് ഇച്ഛിച്ചു നിങ്ങളോടു ദീര്ഘക്ഷമ കാണിക്കുന്നതേയുള്ളു.

9. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

10. കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ദിവസമോ കള്ളനെപ്പോലെ വരും. അന്നു ആകാശം കൊടുമ്മുഴക്കത്തോടെ ഒഴിഞ്ഞു പോകും; മൂലപദാര്ത്ഥങ്ങള് കത്തിയഴികയും ഭൂമിയും അതിലുള്ള പണികളും വെന്തുപോകയും ചെയ്യും.

10. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.

11. ഇങ്ങനെ ഇവ ഒക്കെയും അഴിവാനുള്ളതായിരിക്കയാല് ആകാശം ചുട്ടഴിവാനും മൂലപദാര്ത്ഥങ്ങള് വെന്തുരുകുവാനും ഉള്ള ദൈവദിവസത്തിന്റെ വരവു കാത്തിരുന്നും ബദ്ധപ്പെടുത്തിയുംകൊണ്ടു

11. Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,

12. നിങ്ങള് എത്ര വിശുദ്ധജീവനവും ഭക്തിയും ഉള്ളവര് ആയിരിക്കേണം.
യെശയ്യാ 34:4

12. looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!

13. എന്നാല് നാം അവന്റെ വാഗ്ദത്തപ്രകാരം നീതി വസിക്കുന്ന പുതിയ ആകാശത്തിന്നും പുതിയ ഭൂമിക്കുമായിട്ടു കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

13. But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

14. അതുകൊണ്ടു പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, നിങ്ങള് ഇവെക്കായി കാത്തിരിക്കയാല് അവന് നിങ്ങളെ കറയും കളങ്കവും ഇല്ലാത്തവരായി സമാധാനത്തോടെ കാണ്മാന് ഉത്സാഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ദീര്ഘക്ഷമയെ രക്ഷ എന്നു വിചാരിപ്പിന് .

14. Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless,

15. അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ നമ്മുടെ പ്രിയ സഹോദരനായ പൌലൊസും തനിക്കു ലഭിച്ച ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്നു തക്കവണ്ണം നിങ്ങള്ക്കും ഇതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന സകല ലേഖനങ്ങളിലും എഴുതീട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.

15. and regard the patience of our Lord [as] salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you,

16. അവയില് ഗ്രഹിപ്പാന് പ്രയാസമുള്ളതു ചിലതുണ്ടു. അറിവില്ലാത്തവരും അസ്ഥിരന്മാരുമായവര് ശേഷം തിരുവെഴുത്തുകളെപ്പോലെ അതും തങ്ങളുടെ നാശത്തിന്നായി കോട്ടിക്കളയുന്നു.

16. as also in all [his] letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as [they do] also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.

17. എന്നാല് പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, നിങ്ങള് മുമ്പുകൂട്ടി അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു അധര്മ്മികളുടെ വഞ്ചനയില് കുടുങ്ങി സ്വന്ത സ്ഥിരതവിട്ടു വീണു പോകാതിരിപ്പാന് സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് ,

17. You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness,

18. കൃപയിലും നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവും രക്ഷിതാവുമായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിലും വളരുവിന് . അവന്നു ഇപ്പോഴും എന്നെന്നേക്കും മഹത്വം. ആമേന് .

18. but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him [be] the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
