1. ആദിമുതലുള്ളതും ഞങ്ങള് കേട്ടതും സ്വന്ത കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു കണ്ടതും ഞങ്ങള് നോക്കിയതും

1. That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have gazed upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life--

2. ഞങ്ങളുടെ കൈ തൊട്ടതും ആയ ജീവന്റെ വചനം സംബന്ധിച്ചു — ജീവന് പ്രത്യക്ഷമായി, ഞങ്ങള് കണ്ടു സാക്ഷീകരിക്കയും പിതാവിനോടുകൂടെയിരുന്നു ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷമായ നിത്യജീവനെ നിങ്ങളോടു അറിയിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു —

2. and the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and we declare to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us--

3. ഞങ്ങള് കണ്ടും കേട്ടുമുള്ളതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഞങ്ങളോടു കൂട്ടായ്മ ഉണ്ടാകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങളോടും അറിയിക്കുന്നു. ഞങ്ങളുടെ കൂട്ടായ്മയോ പിതാവിനോടും അവന്റെ പുത്രനായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിനോടും ആകുന്നു.

3. that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, in order that you also may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

4. നമ്മുടെ സന്തോഷം പൂര്ണ്ണമാകുവാന് ഞങ്ങള് ഇതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു.

4. And these things we write to you that our joy may be fulfilled.

5. ദൈവം വെളിച്ചം ആകുന്നു; അവനില് ഇരുട്ടു ഒട്ടും ഇല്ല എന്നുള്ളതു ഞങ്ങള് അവനോടു കേട്ടു നിങ്ങളോടു അറിയിക്കുന്ന ദൂതാകുന്നു.

5. And this is the message which we have heard from Him and we announce to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

6. അവനോടു കൂട്ടായ്മ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറകയും ഇരുട്ടില് നടക്കയും ചെയ്താല് നാം ഭോഷകു പറയുന്നു; സത്യം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

6. If we claim that we have fellowship with Him, and we are walking in the darkness, we are lying, and are not practicing the truth.

7. അവന് വെളിച്ചത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്നതു പോലെ നാം വെളിച്ചത്തില് നടക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില് നമുക്കു തമ്മില് കൂട്ടായ്മ ഉണ്ടു; അവന്റെ പുത്രനായ യേശുവിന്റെ രക്തം സകല പാപവും പോക്കി നമ്മെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്നു.

7. But if we are walking in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

8. നമുക്കു പാപം ഇല്ല എന്നു നാം പറയുന്നു എങ്കില് നമ്മെത്തന്നേ വഞ്ചിക്കുന്നു; സത്യം നമ്മില് ഇല്ലാതെയായി.

8. If we claim that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9. നമ്മുടെ പാപങ്ങളെ ഏറ്റുപറയുന്നു എങ്കില് അവന് നമ്മോടു പാപങ്ങളെ ക്ഷമിച്ചു സകല അനീതിയും പോക്കി നമ്മെ ശുദ്ധീകരിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം വിശ്വസ്തനും നീതിമാനും ആകുന്നു.

9. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10. നാം പാപം ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പറയുന്നുവെങ്കില് അവനെ അസത്യവാദിയാക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ വചനം നമ്മില് ഇല്ലാതെയായി.

10. If we claim that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
