1. ഭൂമിയില് ഒക്കെയും ഒരേ ഭാഷയും ഒരേ വാക്കും ആയിരുന്നു.

1. So it came to pass that, all the earth, was of one manner of speech, and of one stock of words.

2. എന്നാല് അവര് കിഴക്കോട്ടു യാത്ര ചെയ്തു, ശിനാര്ദേശത്തു ഒരു സമഭൂമി കണ്ടു അവിടെ കുടിയിരുന്നു.

2. And it came to pass as they brake away onwards, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and dwelt there.

3. അവര് തമ്മില്വരുവിന് , നാം ഇഷ്ടക അറുത്തു ചുടുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവര് ഇഷ്ടക കല്ലായും പശമണ്ണു കുമ്മായമായും ഉപയോഗിച്ചു.

3. Then said they, each man to his friend, Come on! let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly, So the bricks, served them for stone, and bitumen, served them for mortar,

4. വരുവിന് , നാം ഭൂതലത്തില് ഒക്കെയും ചിതറിപ്പോകാതിരിപ്പാന് ഒരു പട്ടണവും ആകാശത്തോളം എത്തുന്ന ഒരു ഗോപുരവും പണിക; നമുക്കു ഒരു പേരുമുണ്ടാക്കുക എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And they said Come on! let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower with its head in the heavens, so let us make for ourselves a name, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of all the earth.

5. മനുഷ്യര് പണിത പട്ടണവും ഗോപുരവും കാണോണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവ ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു.

5. And Yahweh came down, to behold the city, and the tower, which the sons of men had built.

6. അപ്പോള് യഹോവഇതാ, ജനം ഒന്നു അവര്ക്കെല്ലാവര്ക്കും ഭാഷയും ഒന്നു; ഇതും അവര് ചെയ്തു തുടങ്ങുന്നു; അവര് ചെയ്വാന് നിരൂപിക്കുന്നതൊന്നും അവര്ക്കും അസാദ്ധ്യമാകയില്ല.

6. Then said Yahweh: Lo! one people and one manner of speech, have they all, this, then is what they have begun to do, now, therefore, nothing will be withholden from them which they may plan to do.

7. വരുവിന് ; നാം ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു, അവര് തമ്മില് ഭാഷതിരിച്ചറിയാതിരിപ്പാന് അവരുടെ ഭാഷ കലക്കിക്കളക എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

7. Come on! let us go down, and there confuse their speech, that they may not under-stand, each man the speech of his friend.

8. അങ്ങനെ യഹോവ അവരെ അവിടെനിന്നു ഭൂതലത്തിലെങ്ങും ചിന്നിച്ചു; അവര് പട്ടണം പണിയുന്നതു വിട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

8. So Yahweh scattered them from thence over the face of all the earth, and so they left off building the city.

9. സര്വ്വഭൂമിയിലെയും ഭാഷ യഹോവ അവിടെവെച്ചു കലക്കിക്കളകയാല് അതിന്നു ബാബേല് എന്നു പേരായി; യഹോവ അവരെ അവിടെനിന്നു ഭൂതലത്തില് എങ്ങും ചിന്നിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

9. For this cause, was the name thereof called Babel; because there, did Yahweh confuse the speech of all the earth, and, from thence, did Yahweh scatter them abroad, over the face of all the earth.

10. ശേമിന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യമാവിതുശേമിന്നു നൂറു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് ജലപ്രളയത്തിന്നു പിമ്പു രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം അര്പ്പക്ഷാദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

10. These, are the genealogies of Shem, Shem was a hundred years old when he begat Arpachshad, two years after the flood

11. അര്പ്പക്ഷാദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശേം അഞ്ഞൂറു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

11. and Shem lived after he begat Arpachshad, five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

12. അര്പ്പക്ഷാദിന്നു മുപ്പത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് ശാലഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

12. And, Arpachshad, lived thirty-five years, and begat Shelah;

13. ശാലഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം അര്പ്പക്ഷാദ് നാനൂറ്റിമൂന്നു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

13. and Arpachshad lived after he begat Shelah, four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.

14. ശാലഹിന്നു മുപ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് ഏബെരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

14. And, Shelah, lived thirty years, and begat Eber;

15. ഏബെരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശാലഹ് നാനൂറ്റി മൂന്നു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

15. and Shelah lived, after he begat Eber, four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.

16. ഏബെരിന്നു മുപ്പത്തിനാലു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് പേലെഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

16. And Eber lived thirty-four years, and begat Peleg;

17. പേലെഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ഏബെര് നാനൂറ്റിമുപ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

17. and Eber lived after he begat Peleg, four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.

18. പേലെഗിന്നു മുപ്പതു വയ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് രെയൂവിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

18. And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:

19. രെയൂവിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം പേലെഗ് ഇരൂനൂറ്റൊമ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

19. and Peleg lived after he begat Reu, two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters.

20. രെയൂവിന്നു മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് ശെരൂഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

20. And Reu lived thirty-two years and begat Serug;

21. ശെരൂഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം രെയൂ ഇരുനൂറ്റേഴു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

21. and Reu lived after he begat Serug, two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters.

22. ശെരൂഗിന്നു മുപ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് നാഹോരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

22. And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor;

23. നാഹോരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശേരൂഗ് ഇരുനൂറു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

23. and Serug lived after he begat Nahor, two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

24. നാഹോരിന്നു ഇരുപത്തൊമ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് തേരഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

24. And Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and begat Terah;

25. തേരഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം നാഹോര് നൂറ്റി പത്തൊമ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

25. and Nahor lived, after he begat Terah, a hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.

26. തേരഹിന്നു എഴുപതു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് അബ്രാം, നാഹോര്, ഹാരാന് എന്നിവരെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

26. And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

27. തേരഹിന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യമാവിതുതേരഹ് അബ്രാമിനെയും നാഹോരിനെയും ഹാരാനെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ഹാരാന് ലോത്തിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

27. These, then are the generations of Terah, Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran, and, Haran, begat Lot;

28. എന്നാല് ഹാരാന് തന്റെ ജന്മദേശത്തുവെച്ചു, കല്ദയരുടെ ഒരു പട്ടണമായ ഊരില്വെച്ചു തന്നേ, തന്റെ അപ്പനായ തേരഹിന്നു മുമ്പെ മരിച്ചുപോയി.

28. and Haran died, in the presence of Terah his father, in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldees.

29. അബ്രാമും നാഹോരും ഭാര്യമാരെ എടുത്തു; അബ്രാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യെക്കു സാറായി എന്നും നാഹോരിന്റെ ഭാര്യെക്കു മില്ക്കാ എന്നും പേര്. ഇവള് മില്ക്കയുടെയും യിസ്കയുടെയും അപ്പനായ ഹാരാന്റെ മകള് തന്നെ.

29. And Abram and Nahor took to themselves wives; the name of Abrams wife, was Sarai; and, the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, daughter of Haran father of Milcah, and father of Iscah.

30. സാറായി മച്ചിയായിരുന്നു; അവള്ക്കു സന്തതി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.

30. And, Sara, remained barren, she had no child,

31. തേരഹ് തന്റെ മകനായ അബ്രാമിനെയും ഹാരാന്റെ മകനായ തന്റെ പൌത്രന് ലോത്തിനെയും തന്റെ മകനായ അബ്രാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായി മരുമകളായ സാറായിയെയും കൂട്ടി കല്ദയരുടെ പട്ടണമായ ഊരില്നിന്നു കനാന് ദേശത്തേക്കു പോകുവാന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവര് ഹാരാന് വരെ വന്നു അവിടെ പാര്ത്തു.

31. And Terah took Abram his son and Lot son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, wife of Abram his son, and came forth with them out of Ur of the Chaldees, that they might go their way towards the land of Canaan, and they came in as far as Haran and dwelt there.

32. തേരഹിന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലം ഇരുനൂറ്റഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം ആയിരുന്നു; തേരഹ് ഹാരാനില്വെച്ചു മരിച്ചു.

32. And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years, and Terah died in Haran.
