1. അനന്തരം അബ്രാഹാം അവിടെനിന്നു തെക്കെ ദേശത്തേക്കു യാത്ര പുറപ്പെട്ടു കാദേശിന്നും സൂരിന്നും മദ്ധ്യേ കുടിയിരുന്നു ഗെരാരില് പരദേശിയായി പാര്ത്തു.

1. As for Abraham, he departed thence, into the south countre, and dwelt betwixte Cades and Sur, and was a straunger at Gerar,

2. അബ്രാഹാം തന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ സാറയെക്കുറിച്ചുഅവള് എന്റെ പെങ്ങള് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഗെരാര് രാജാവായ അബീമേലെക് ആളയച്ചു സാറയെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

2. and sayde of Sara his wife: She is my sister. Then Abimelech the kinge of Gerar sent for her, and caused her be fett awaye.

3. എന്നാല് രാത്രിയില് ദൈവം സ്വപ്നത്തില് അബീമേലെക്കിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു അവനോടുനീ എടുത്ത സ്ത്രീയുടെ നിമിത്തം നീ മരിക്കും; അവള് ഒരു പുരുഷന്റെ ഭാര്യ എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

3. But God came to Abimelech by night in a dreame, & sayde vnto him: Beholde, thou art but a deed man, for the womans sake which thou hast taken, for she is a mans wife.

4. എന്നാല് അബീമേലെക് അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നിരുന്നില്ലആകയാല് അവന് കര്ത്താവേ, നീതിയുള്ള ജാതിയെയും നീ കൊല്ലുമോ?

4. Neuertheles Abimelech had not yet touched her, and sayde: LORDE, wilt thou sley a righteous people?

5. ഇവള് എന്റെ പെങ്ങളാകുന്നു എന്നു അവന് എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ. അവന് എന്റെ ആങ്ങള എന്നു അവളും പറഞ്ഞു. ഹൃദയപരമാര്ത്ഥതയോടും കയ്യുടെ നിര്മ്മലതയോടും കൂടെ ഞാന് ഇതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. Sayde not he vnto me: she is my sister? Yee and sayde not she her self also: he is my brother? With a pure hert & with innocent handes haue I done this.

6. അതിന്നു ദൈവം സ്വപ്നത്തില് അവനോടുനീ ഇതു ഹൃദയപരമാര്ത്ഥതയോടെ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു; നീ എന്നോടു പാപം ചെയ്യാതിരിപ്പാന് ഞാന് നിന്നെ തടുത്തു; അതുകൊണ്ടാകുന്നു അവളെ തൊടുവാന് ഞാന് നിന്നെ സമ്മതിക്കാതിരുന്നതു.

6. And God sayde vnto him in a dreame: I knowe that thou dyddest it wt a pure hert, and therfore I kepte the, that thou shuldest not synne agaynst me, nether haue I suffred the to touch her.

7. ഇപ്പോള് ആ പുരുഷന്നു അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്ക; അവന് ഒരു പ്രവാചകന് ആകുന്നു; നീ ജീവനോടിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന് നിനക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കട്ടെ. അവളെ മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കാതിരുന്നാലോ, നീയും നിനക്കുള്ളവരൊക്കെയും മരിക്കേണ്ടിവരും എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞുകൊള്ക എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

7. Now therfore delyuer the man his wife ageyne, for he is a prophet: and let him pray for ye, and thou shalt lyue. But and yf thou delyuer her not ageyne, be sure, that thou shalt dye the death, and all that is thine.

8. അബീമേലെക് അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു തന്റെ സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരെയും വരുത്തി ഈ കാര്യം ഒക്കെയും അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു; അവര് ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.

8. Then Abimelech rose vp by tymes in the mornynge, and called all his seruauntes, and tolde all these thinges in their eares, and the men were sore afrayed,

9. അബീമേലെക് അബ്രാഹാമിനെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു അവനോടുനീ ഞങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്തതു എന്തു? നീ എന്റെ മേലും എന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിന്മേലും ഒരു മഹാപാപം വരുത്തുവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാന് നിന്നോടു എന്തു ദോഷം ചെയ്തു? ചെയ്യരുതാത്ത കാര്യം നീ എന്നോടു ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. and Abimelech called Abraham, and sayde vnto him: Wherfore hast thou done this vnto vs? And what haue I offended ye, that thou shuldest brynge on me and on my kyngdome so greate a synne? Thou hast not dealt with vs, as a man shulde deale.

10. നീ എന്തു കണ്ടിട്ടാകുന്നു ഇക്കാര്യം ചെയ്തതു എന്നു അബീമേലെക് അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അബ്രാഹാം പറഞ്ഞതു

10. And Abimelech saide morouer vnto Abraham: What sawest thou, yt thou hast done this thinge?

11. ഈ സ്ഥലത്തു ദൈവഭയം ഇല്ല നിശ്ചയം; എന്റെ ഭാര്യനിമിത്തം അവര് എന്നെ കൊല്ലും എന്നു ഞാന് നിരൂപിച്ചു.

11. Abraham sayde: I thought: Peraduenture there is no feare of God in this place, & they shall sleye me for my wifes sake,

12. വാസ്തവത്തില് അവള് എന്റെ പെങ്ങളാകുന്നു; എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ മകള്; എന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ മകളല്ല താനും; അവള് എനിക്കു ഭാര്യയായി.

12. And of a trueth she is my sister, for she is my fathers doughter, but not my mothers doughter, and is become my wife.

13. എന്നാല് ദൈവം എന്നെ എന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചപ്പോള് ഞാന് അവളോടുനീ എനിക്കു ഒരു ദയ ചെയ്യേണംനാം ഏതൊരു ദിക്കില് ചെന്നാലും അവിടെഅവന് എന്റെ ആങ്ങള എന്നു എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു പറയേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

13. So whan God charged me to wadre out of my fathers house, I sayde vnto her: Shew this kyndnes vpon me, that, where so euer we come, thou saye of me, that I am thy brother.

14. അബീമേലെക് അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു ആടുമാടുകളെയും ദാസീദാസന്മാരെയും കൊടുത്തു; അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ സാറയെയും അവന്നു മടക്കിക്കൊടുത്തു

14. Then toke Abimelech shepe and oxen, seruauntes and maydens, and gaue them vnto Abraham, and delyuered him Sara his wife agayne,

15. ഇതാ, എന്റെ രാജ്യം നിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നിനക്കു ബോധിച്ചേടത്തു പാര്ത്തുകൊള്ക എന്നു അബീമേലെക് പറഞ്ഞു.

15. and sayde: Beholde, my londe stondeth open before the, dwell where it liketh the.

16. സാറയോടു അവന് നിന്റെ ആങ്ങളെക്കു ഞാന് ആയിരം വെള്ളിക്കാശു കൊടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ടു; നിന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ള എല്ലാവരുടെയും മുമ്പാകെ ഇതു നിനക്കു ഒരു പ്രതിശാന്തി; നീ എല്ലാവര്ക്കും മുമ്പാകെ നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടുമിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. And vnto Sara he sayde: Beholde, I haue geuen thy brother a thousande syluer pens: lo, he shalbe vnto the a couerynge of the eyes, for all that are with the, and euery where, and a sure excuse.

17. അബ്രാഹാം ദൈവത്തോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; അപ്പോള് ദൈവം അബീമേലെക്കിനെയും അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയെയും അവന്റെ ദാസിമാരെയും സൌഖ്യമാക്കി, അവര് പ്രസവിച്ചു.

17. As for Abraham, he prayed vnto God: Then God healed Abimelech, and his wyfe, and his maydens, so that they bare childre.

18. അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ സാറയുടെ നിമിത്തം യഹോവ അബീമേലെക്കിന്റെ ഭവനത്തിലെ ഗര്ഭം ഒക്കെയും അടെച്ചിരുന്നു.

18. For a fore the LORDE had closed all the matrices of Abimelechs house, because of Sara Abrahams wife.
