1. Now when Isaac was old and his eyes had become clouded so that he was not able to see, he sent for Esau, his first son, and said to him, My son: and he said, Here am I.

2. അപ്പോള് അവന് ഞാന് വൃദ്ധനായിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ മരണദിവസം അറിയുന്നതുമില്ല.

2. And he said, See now, I am old, and my death may take place at any time:

3. നീ ഇപ്പോള് നിന്റെ ആയുധങ്ങളായ വില്ലും പൂണിയും എടുത്തു കാട്ടില് ചെന്നു എനിക്കു വേണ്ടി വേട്ടതേടി

3. So take your arrows and your bow and go out to the field and get meat for me;

4. എനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടവും രുചികരവുമായ ഭോജനം ഉണ്ടാക്കി, ഞാന് മരിക്കുമ്മുമ്പെ തിന്നു നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And make me food, good to the taste, such as is pleasing to me, and put it before me, so that I may have a meal and give you my blessing before death comes to me.

5. യിസ്ഹാക് തന്റെ മകനായ ഏശാവിനോടു പറയുമ്പോള് റിബെക്കാ കേട്ടു ഏശാവോ വേട്ട തേടി കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് കാട്ടില് പോയി.

5. Now Isaac's words to his son were said in Rebekah's hearing. Then Esau went out to get the meat.

6. റിബെക്കാ തന്റെ മകനായ യാക്കോബിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുനിന്റെ അപ്പന് നിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ഏശാവിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചു

6. And Rebekah said to Jacob, her son, Your father said to your brother Esau in my hearing,

7. ഞാന് എന്റെ മരണത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ തിന്നു നിന്നെ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ വേട്ടയിറച്ചി കൊണ്ടുവന്നു രുചികരമായ ഭോജനം ഉണ്ടാക്കിത്തരിക എന്നു പറയുന്നതു ഞാന് കേട്ടു.

7. Go and get some roe's meat and make me a good meal, so that I may be full, and give you my blessing before the Lord before my death.

8. ആകയാല് മകനേ, നീ എന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നതു ചെയ്ക.

8. Now, my son, do what I say.

9. ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടത്തില് ചെന്നു അവിടെനിന്നു രണ്ടു നല്ല കോലാട്ടിന് കുട്ടികളെ കൊണ്ടുവരിക; ഞാന് അവയെക്കൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ അപ്പന്നു ഇഷ്ടവും രുചികരവുമായ ഭോജനം ഉണ്ടാക്കും.

9. Go to the flock and get me two fat young goats; and I will make of them a meal to your father's taste:

10. നിന്റെ അപ്പന് തിന്നു തന്റെ മരണത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ അതു അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുചെല്ലേണം.

10. And you will take it to him, so that he may have a good meal and give you his blessing before his death.

11. അതിന്നു യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ അമ്മയായ റിബെക്കയോടുഎന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ഏശാവു രോമമുള്ളവനും ഞാന് രോമമില്ലാത്തവനും ആകുന്നുവല്ലോ.

11. And Jacob said to Rebekah, his mother, But Esau my brother is covered with hair, while I am smooth:

12. പക്ഷേ അപ്പന് എന്നെ തപ്പിനോക്കും; ഞാന് ഉപായി എന്നു അവന്നു തോന്നീട്ടു ഞാന് എന്റെ മേല് അനുഗ്രഹമല്ല ശാപം തന്നേ വരുത്തും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. If by chance my father puts his hand on me, it will seem to him that I am tricking him, and he will put a curse on me in place of a blessing.

13. അവന്റെ അമ്മ അവനോടുമകനേ, നിന്റെ ശാപം എന്റെ മേല് വരട്ടെ; എന്റെ വാക്കു മാത്രം കേള്ക്ക; പോയി കൊണ്ടുവാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. And his mother said, Let the curse be on me, my son: only do as I say, and go and get them for me.

14. അവന് ചെന്നു പിടിച്ചു അമ്മയുടെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അമ്മ അവന്റെ അപ്പന്നു ഇഷ്ടവും രുചികരവുമായ ഭോജനം ഉണ്ടാക്കി.

14. So he went and got them and took them to his mother: and she made a meal to his father's taste.

15. പിന്നെ റിബെക്കാ വീട്ടില് തന്റെ പക്കല് ഉള്ളതായ മൂത്തമകന് ഏശാവിന്റെ വിശേഷ വസ്ത്രം എടുത്തു ഇളയമകന് യാക്കോബിനെ ധരിപ്പിച്ചു.

15. And Rebekah took the fair robes of her oldest son, which were with her in the house, and put them on Jacob, her younger son:

16. അവള് കോലാട്ടിന് കുട്ടികളുടെ തോല്കൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ കൈകളും രോമമില്ലാത്ത കഴുത്തും പൊതിഞ്ഞു.

16. And she put the skins of the young goats on his hands and on the smooth part of his neck:

17. താന് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ രുചികരമായ ഭോജനവും അപ്പവും തന്റെ മകനായ യാക്കോബിന്റെ കയ്യില് കൊടുത്തു.

17. And she gave into the hand of Jacob, her son, the meat and the bread which she had made ready.

18. അവന് അപ്പന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നുഅപ്പാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഞാന് ഇതാ; നീ ആര്, മകനേ എന്നു അവന് ചോദിച്ചു.

18. And he came to his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I: who are you, my son?

19. യാക്കോബ് അപ്പനോടുഞാന് നിന്റെ ആദ്യജാതന് ഏശാവു; എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതു ഞാന് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഇരുന്നു എന്റെ വേട്ടയിറച്ചി തിന്നു എന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. And Jacob said, I am Esau, your oldest son; I have done as you said: come now, be seated and take of my meat, so that you may give me a blessing.

20. യിസ്ഹാക് തന്റെ മകനോടുമകനേ, നിനക്കു ഇത്ര വേഗത്തില് കിട്ടിയതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ എന്റെ നേര്ക്കും വരുത്തിത്തന്നു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

20. And Isaac said, How is it that you have got it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the Lord your God made it come my way.

21. യിസ്ഹാക് യാക്കോബിനോടുമകനെ, അടുത്തുവരിക; നീ എന്റെ മകനായ ഏശാവു തന്നേയോ അല്ലയോ എന്നു ഞാന് തപ്പിനോക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. And Isaac said, Come near so that I may put my hand on you, my son, and see if you are truly my son Esau or not.

22. യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിനോടു അടുത്തു ചെന്നു; അവന് അവനെ തപ്പിനോക്കിശബ്ദം യാക്കോബിന്റെ ശബ്ദം; കൈകള് ഏശാവിന്റെ കൈകള് തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. And Jacob went near his father Isaac: and he put his hands on him; and he said, The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.

23. അവന്റെ കൈകള് സഹോദരനായ ഏശാവിന്റെ കൈകള് പോലെ രോമമുള്ളവയാകകൊണ്ടു അവന് തിരിച്ചറിയാതെ അവനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

23. And he did not make out who he was, because his hands were covered with hair like his brother Esau's hands: so he gave him a blessing.

24. നീ എന്റെ മകന് ഏശാവ് തന്നേയോ എന്നു അവന് ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഅതേ എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

24. And he said, Are you truly my son Esau? And he said, I am.

25. അപ്പോള് അവന് എന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവാ; ഞാന് നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ മകന്റെ വേട്ടയിറച്ചി ഞാന് തിന്നാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അവന് അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു, അവന് തിന്നു; അവന് വീഞ്ഞും കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു, അവന് കുടിച്ചു.

25. And he said, Put it before me and I will take of my son's meat, so that I may give you a blessing. And he put it before him and he took it; and he gave him wine, and he had a drink.

26. പിന്നെ അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്ഹാക് അവനോടുമകനേ, നീ അടുത്തുവന്നു എന്നെ ചുംബിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. And his father Isaac said to him, Come near now, my son, and give me a kiss.

27. അവന് അടുത്തുചെന്നു അവനെ ചുംബിച്ചു; അവന് അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രങ്ങളുടെ വാസന മണത്തു അവനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതുഇതാ, എന്റെ മകന്റെ വാസന യഹോവ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന വയലിലെ വാസനപോലെ.

27. And he came near and gave him a kiss; and smelling the smell of his clothing, he gave him a blessing, and said, See, the smell of my son is like the smell of a field on which the blessing of the Lord has come:

28. ദൈവം ആകാശത്തിന്റെ മഞ്ഞും ഭൂമിയുടെ പുഷ്ടിയും അനവധി ധന്യവും വീഞ്ഞും നിനക്കു തരുമാറാകട്ടെ.

28. May God give you the dew of heaven, and the good things of the earth, and grain and wine in full measure:

29. വംശങ്ങള് നിന്നെ സേവിക്കട്ടെ; ജാതികള് നിന്നെ വണങ്ങട്ടെ; നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാര്ക്കും നീ പ്രഭുവായിരിക്ക; നിന്റെ മാതാവിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര് നിന്നെ വണങ്ങട്ടെ. നിന്നെ ശപിക്കുന്നവന് എല്ലാം ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന് ; നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവന് എല്ലാം അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന് .

29. Let peoples be your servants, and nations go down before you: be lord over your brothers, and let your mother's sons go down before you: a curse be on everyone by whom you are cursed, and a blessing on those who give you a blessing.

30. യിസ്ഹാക് യാക്കോബിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ഉടനെ അവന്റെ സഹോദരന് ഏശാവ് വേട്ടകഴിഞ്ഞു മടങ്ങിവന്നു.

30. And when Isaac had come to the end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob had not long gone away from Isaac his father, Esau came in from the field.

31. അവനും രുചികരമായ ഭോജനം ഉണ്ടാക്കി അപ്പന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു അപ്പനോടുഅപ്പന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു മകന്റെ വേട്ടയിറച്ചി തിന്നു എന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

31. And he made ready a meal, good to the taste, and took it to his father, and said to him, Let my father get up and take of his son's meat, so that you may give me a blessing.

32. അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്ഹാക് അവനോടുനീ ആര് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഞാന് നിന്റെ മകന് , നിന്റെ ആദ്യജാതന് ഏശാവ് എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

32. And Isaac his father said to him, Who are you? And he said, I am your oldest son, Esau.

33. അപ്പോള് യിസ്ഹാക് അത്യന്തം ഭ്രമിച്ചു നടുങ്ങിഎന്നാല് വേട്ടതേടി എന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നവന് ആര്? നീ വരുംമുമ്പെ ഞാന് സകലവും തിന്നു അവനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവനുമാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

33. And in great fear Isaac said, Who then is he who got meat and put it before me, and I took it all before you came, and gave him a blessing, and his it will be?

34. ഏശാവ് അപ്പന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടപ്പോള് അതി ദുഃഖിതനായി ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചുഅപ്പാ, എന്നെ, എന്നെയും കൂടെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണമേ എന്നു അപ്പനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

34. And hearing the words of his father, Esau gave a great and bitter cry, and said to his father, Give a blessing to me, even to me, O my father!

35. അതിന്നു അവന് നിന്റെ സഹോദരന് ഉപായത്തോടെ വന്നു നിന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹം അപഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

35. And he said, Your brother came with deceit, and took away your blessing.

36. ശരി, യാക്കോബ് എന്നല്ലോ അവന്റെ പേര്; രണ്ടു പ്രാവശ്യം അവന് എന്നെ ചതിച്ചു; അവന് എന്റെ ജ്യേഷ്ഠാവകാശം അപഹരിച്ചു; ഇപ്പോള് ഇതാ, എന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹവും അപഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു. നീ എനിക്കു ഒരു അനുഗ്രഹവും കരുതിവെച്ചിട്ടില്ലയോ എന്നു അവന് ചോദിച്ചു.

36. And he said, Is it because he is named Jacob that he has twice taken my place? for he took away my birthright, and now he has taken away my blessing. And he said, Have you not kept a blessing for me?

37. യിസ്ഹാക് ഏശാവിനോടുഞാന് അവനെ നിനക്കു പ്രഭുവാക്കി അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും അവന്നു ദാസന്മാരാക്കി; അവന്നു ധാന്യവും വീഞ്ഞുംകൊടുത്തു; ഇനി നിനക്കു ഞാന് എന്തു തരേണ്ടു മകനേ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

37. And Isaac answering said, But I have made him your master, and have given him all his brothers for servants; I have made him strong with grain and wine: what then am I to do for you, my son?

38. ഏശാവ് പിതാവിനോടുനിനക്കു ഒരു അനുഗ്രഹം മാത്രമേ ഉള്ളുവോ, അപ്പാ? എന്നെ, എന്നെയും കൂടെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണമേ, അപ്പാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു പൊട്ടിക്കരഞ്ഞു.

38. And Esau said to his father, Is that the only blessing you have, my father? give a blessing to me, even me! And Esau was overcome with weeping.

39. എന്നാറെ അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്ഹാക് ഉത്തരമായിട്ടു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുനിന്റെ വാസം ഭൂമിയിലെ പുഷ്ടിക്കുടാതെയും മീതെ ആകാശത്തിലെ മഞ്ഞു കൂടാതെയും ഇരിക്കും.

39. Then Isaac his father made answer and said to him, Far from the fertile places of the earth, and far from the dew of heaven on high will your living-place be:

40. നിന്റെ വാളുകൊണ്ടു നീ ഉപജീവിക്കും; നിന്റെ സഹോദരനെ നീ സേവിക്കും. നിന്റെ കെട്ടു അഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുമ്പോള് നീ അവന്റെ നുകം കഴുത്തില്നിന്നു കുടഞ്ഞുകളയും.

40. By your sword will you get your living and you will be your brother's servant; but when your power is increased his yoke will be broken from off your neck.

41. തന്റെ അപ്പന് യാക്കോബിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ച അനുഗ്രഹം നിമിത്തം ഏശാവു അവനെ ദ്വേഷിച്ചുഅപ്പനെക്കുറിച്ചു ദുഃഖിക്കുന്ന കാലം അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അപ്പോള് ഞാന് എന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യാക്കോബിനെ കൊല്ലും എന്നു ഏശാവു ഹൃദയത്തില് പറഞ്ഞു.

41. So Esau was full of hate for Jacob because of his father's blessing; and he said in his heart, The days of weeping for my father are near; then I will put my brother Jacob to death.

42. മൂത്തമകനായ ഏശാവിന്റെ വാക്കു റിബെക്കാ അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോള്, അവള് ഇളയമകനായ യാക്കോബിനെ ആളയച്ചു വിളിപ്പിച്ചു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുനിന്റെ സഹോദരന് ഏശാവ് നിന്നെ കൊന്നു പകവീട്ടുവാന് ഭാവിക്കുന്നു.

42. Then Rebekah, hearing what Esau had said, sent for Jacob, her younger son, and said to him, It seems that your brother Esau is purposing to put you to death.

43. ആകയാല് മകനേഎന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കനീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഹാരാനില് എന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ലാബാന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോക.

43. So now, my son, do what I say: go quickly to Haran, to my brother Laban;

44. നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ ക്രോധം ശമിക്കുവോളം കുറെ നാള് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് പാര്ക്ക.

44. And be there with him for a little time, till your brother's wrath is turned away;

45. നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്നു നിന്നോടുള്ള കോപം മാറി നീ അവനോടു ചെയ്തതു അവന് മറക്കുംവരെ അവിടെ താമസിക്ക; പിന്നെ ഞാന് ആളയച്ചു നിന്നെ അവിടെ നിന്നു വരുത്തിക്കൊള്ളാം; ഒരു ദിവസം തന്നേ നിങ്ങള് ഇരുവരും എനിക്കു ഇല്ലാതെയാകുന്നതു എന്തിനു?

45. Till the memory of what you have done to him is past and he is no longer angry: then I will send word for you to come back; are the two of you to be taken from me in one day?

46. പിന്നെ റിബെക്കാ യിസ്ഹാക്കിനോടുഈ ഹിത്യസ്ത്രീകള് നിമിത്തം എന്റെ ജീവന് എനിക്കു അസഹ്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഈ ദേശക്കാരത്തികളായ ഇവരെപ്പോലെയുള്ള ഒരു ഹിത്യ സ്ത്രീയെ യാക്കോബ് വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചാല് ഞാന് എന്തിന്നു ജീവിക്കുന്നു? എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

46. Then Rebekah said to Isaac, My life is a weariness to me because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob takes a wife from among the daughters of Heth, such as these, the women of this land, of what use will my life be to me?
