1. ശെബാരാജ്ഞി യഹോവയുടെ നാമം സംബന്ധിച്ചു ശലോമോന്നുള്ള കീര്ത്തികേട്ടിട്ടു കടമൊഴികളാല് അവനെ പരീക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വന്നു.

1. The queen of Sheba heard of Solomon's fame, and she traveled to Jerusalem to test him with difficult questions.

2. അവള് അതിമഹത്തായ പരിവാരത്തോടും സുഗന്ധവര്ഗ്ഗവും അനവധി പൊന്നും രത്നവും ചുമന്ന ഒട്ടകളങ്ങളോടുംകൂടെ യെരൂശലേമില്വന്നു; അവള് ശലോമോന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നശേഷം തന്റെ മനോരഥമൊക്കെയും അവനോടു പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു.

2. She brought with her a large group of attendants, as well as camels loaded with spices, jewels, and a large amount of gold. When she and Solomon met, she asked him all the questions that she could think of.

3. അവളുടെ സകലചോദ്യങ്ങള്ക്കും ശലോമോന് സമാധാനം പറഞ്ഞു. സമാധാനം പറവാന് കഴിയാതെ ഒന്നും രാജാവിന്നു മറപൊരുളായിരുന്നില്ല.

3. He answered them all; there was nothing too difficult for him to explain.

4. The queen of Sheba heard Solomon's wisdom and saw the palace he had built.

5. അവന്റെ മേശയിലെ ഭക്ഷണവും അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരുടെ ഇരിപ്പും അവന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷകന്മാരുടെ നിലയും അവരുടെ ഉടുപ്പും അവന്റെ പാനപാത്രവാഹകന്മാരെയും യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലേക്കുള്ള അവന്റെ എഴുന്നെള്ളത്തും കണ്ടിട്ടു അമ്പരന്നുപോയി.

5. She saw the food that was served at his table, the living quarters for his officials, the organization of his palace staff and the uniforms they wore, the servants who waited on him at feasts, and the sacrifices he offered in the Temple. It left her breathless and amazed.

6. അവള് രാജാവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാല്നിന്റെ കാര്യങ്ങളെയും ജ്ഞാനത്തെയും കുറിച്ചു ഞാന് എന്റെ ദേശത്തുവെച്ചു കേട്ട വര്ത്തമാനം സത്യം തന്നേ.

6. She said to King Solomon, 'What I heard in my own country about you and your wisdom is true!

7. ഞാന് വന്നു എന്റെ കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു കാണുന്നതുവരെ ആ വര്ത്തമാനം വിശ്വസിച്ചില്ല. എന്നാല് പാതിപോലും ഞാന് അറിഞ്ഞിരുന്നില്ല. ഞാന് കേട്ട കീര്ത്തിയെക്കാള് നിന്റെ ജ്ഞാനവും ധനവും അധികമാകുന്നു.

7. But I couldn't believe it until I had come and seen it all for myself. But I didn't hear even half of it; your wisdom and wealth are much greater than what I was told.

8. നിന്റെ ഭാര്യമാര് ഭാഗ്യവതികള്; നിന്റെ മുമ്പില് എപ്പോഴും നിന്നു നിന്റെ ജ്ഞാനം കേള്ക്കുന്ന ഈ നിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരും ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാര്.

8. How fortunate are your wives! And how fortunate your servants, who are always in your presence and are privileged to hear your wise sayings!

9. നിന്നെ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ രാജാസനത്തില് ഇരുത്തുവാന് നിന്നില് പ്രസാദിച്ച നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടവന് ; യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിനെ എന്നേക്കും സ്നേഹിക്കകൊണ്ടു നീതിയും ന്യായവും നടത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു നിന്നെ രാജാവാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

9. Praise the LORD your God! He has shown how pleased he is with you by making you king of Israel. Because his love for Israel is eternal, he has made you their king so that you can maintain law and justice.'

10. അവള് രാജാവിന്നു നൂറ്റിരുപതു താലന്ത് പൊന്നും അനവധി സുഗന്ധവര്ഗ്ഗവും രത്നവും കൊടുത്തു; ശെബാരാജ്ഞി ശലോമോന് രാജാവിന്നു കൊടുത്ത സുഗന്ധവര്ഗ്ഗംപോലെ അത്ര വളരെ പിന്നെ ഒരിക്കലും വന്നിട്ടില്ല.

10. She presented to King Solomon the gifts she had brought: almost five tons of gold and a very large amount of spices and jewels. The amount of spices she gave him was by far the greatest that he ever received at any time.

11. ഔഫീരില്നിന്നു പൊന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ഹീരാമിന്റെ കപ്പലുകള് ഔഫീരില്നിന്നു അനവധി ചന്ദനവും രത്നവും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

11. (Hiram's fleet, which had brought gold from Ophir, also brought from there a large amount of juniper wood and jewels.

12. രാജാവു ചന്ദനംകൊണ്ടു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്നും രാജധാനിക്കും അഴികളും സംഗീതക്കാര്ക്കും കിന്നരങ്ങളും വീണകളും ഉണ്ടാക്കി; അങ്ങനെയുള്ള ചന്ദനമരം ഇന്നുവരെ വന്നിട്ടില്ല, കണ്ടിട്ടുമില്ല.

12. Solomon used the wood to build railings in the Temple and the palace, and also to make harps and lyres for the musicians. It was the finest juniper wood ever imported into Israel; none like it has ever been seen again.)

13. ശലോമോന് രാജാവു സ്വമേധയാ ശെബാരാജ്ഞിക്കു രാജൌചിത്യംപോലെ കൊടുത്തതുകൂടാതെ അവള് ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു ചോദിച്ചതുമെല്ലാം ശലോമോന് രാജാവു അവള്ക്കു കൊടുത്തു. അങ്ങനെ അവള് തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരുമായി സ്വദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

13. King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba everything she asked for, besides all the other customary gifts that he had generously given her. Then she and her attendants returned to the land of Sheba.

14. ശലോമോന്നു സഞ്ചാരവ്യാപാരികളാലും വര്ത്തകന്മാരുടെ കച്ചവടത്താലും സമ്മിശ്രജാതികളുടെ സകലരാജാക്കന്മാരാലും ദേശാധിപതിമാരാലും വന്നതു കൂടാതെ

14. Every year King Solomon received over twenty-five tons of gold,

15. ആണ്ടുതോറും വന്ന പൊന്നിന്റെ തൂക്കം അറുനൂറ്ററുപത്താറു താലന്തായിരുന്നു.

15. in addition to the taxes paid by merchants, the profits from trade, and tribute paid by the Arabian kings and the governors of the Israelite districts.

16. ശലോമോന് രാജാവു, അടിച്ചുപരത്തിയ പൊന്നുകൊണ്ടു ഇരുനൂറു വന് പരിച ഉണ്ടാക്കി; ഔരോ പരിചെക്കു അറുനൂറുശേക്കല് പൊന്നു ചെലവായി.

16. Solomon made two hundred large shields and had each one overlaid with almost fifteen pounds of gold.

17. അടിച്ചുപരത്തിയ പൊന്നുകൊണ്ടു അവന് മുന്നൂറു ചെറുപരിചയും ഉണ്ടാക്കി; ഔരോ ചെറു പരിചെക്കു മൂന്നു മാനേ പൊന്നു ചെലവായി; അവയെ രാജാവു ലെബാനോന് വനഗൃഹത്തില് വെച്ചു.

17. He also made three hundred smaller shields, overlaying each one of them with nearly four pounds of gold. He had all these shields placed in the Hall of the Forest of Lebanon.

18. രാജാവു ദന്തംകൊണ്ടു ഒരു വലിയ സിംഹാസനം ഉണ്ടാക്കി തങ്കംകൊണ്ടു പൊതിഞ്ഞു.

18. He also had a large throne made. Part of it was covered with ivory and the rest of it was covered with the finest gold.

19. സിംഹാസനത്തിന്നു ആറു പതനം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. സിംഹാസനത്തിന്റെ തലപുറകോട്ടു വളഞ്ഞിരുന്നു; ഇരിപ്പിടത്തിന്റെ ഇരുഭാഗത്തും കൈത്താങ്ങലും കൈത്താങ്ങലിന്നരികെ നിലക്കുന്ന രണ്ടു സിംഹവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

19. The throne had six steps leading up to it, with the figure of a lion at each end of every step, a total of twelve lions. At the back of the throne was the figure of a bull's head, and beside each of the two armrests was the figure of a lion. No throne like this had ever existed in any other kingdom.

20. ആറു പതനത്തില് ഇപ്പുറത്തും അപ്പുറത്തുമായി പന്ത്രണ്ടു സിംഹം നിന്നിരുന്നു. ഒരു രാജ്യത്തും ഇങ്ങനെ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്നില്ല.

21. ശലോമോന് രാജാവിന്റെ സകലപാനപാത്രങ്ങളും പൊന്നുകൊണ്ടും ലെബാനോന് വനഗൃഹത്തിലെ ഉപകരണങ്ങളൊക്കെയും തങ്കംകൊണ്ടും ആയിരുന്നു; ഒന്നും വെള്ളികൊണ്ടല്ല; അതിന്നു ശലോമോന്റെ കാലത്തു വിലയില്ലായിരുന്നു.

21. All of Solomon's drinking cups were made of gold, and all the utensils in the Hall of the Forest of Lebanon were of pure gold. No silver was used, since it was not considered valuable in Solomon's day.

22. രാജാവിന്നു സമുദ്രത്തില് ഹീരാമിന്റെ കപ്പലുകളോടുകൂടെ തര്ശീശ് കപ്പലുകള് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; തര്ശീശ് കപ്പലുകള് മൂന്നു സംവത്സരത്തില് ഒരിക്കല് പൊന്നു, വെള്ളി, ആനക്കൊമ്പു, കുരങ്ങു, മയില് എന്നിവ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

22. He had a fleet of ocean-going ships sailing with Hiram's fleet. Every three years his fleet would return, bringing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and monkeys.

23. ഇങ്ങനെ ശലോമോന് രാജാവു ഭൂമിയിലെ സകലരാജാക്കന്മാരിലുംവെച്ചു ധനംകൊണ്ടും ജ്ഞാനംകൊണ്ടും മികെച്ചവനായിരുന്നു.

23. King Solomon was richer and wiser than any other king,

24. ദൈവം ശലോമോന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തില് കൊടുത്ത ജ്ഞാനം കേള്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു സകലദേശക്കാരും അവന്റെ മുഖദര്ശനം അന്വേഷിച്ചുവന്നു.

24. and the whole world wanted to come and listen to the wisdom that God had given him.

25. അവരില് ഔരോരുത്തനും ആണ്ടുതോറും താന്താന്റെ കാഴ്ചയായി വെള്ളിപ്പാത്രം, പൊന് പാത്രം, വസ്ത്രം, ആയുധം, സുഗന്ധവര്ഗ്ഗം, കുതിര, കോവര്കഴുത എന്നിവ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

25. Everyone who came brought him a gift---articles of silver and gold, robes, weapons, spices, horses, and mules. This continued year after year.

26. ശലോമോന് രഥങ്ങളെയും കുതിരച്ചേവകരെയും ശേഖരിച്ചുഅവന്നു ആയിരത്തിനാനൂറു രഥങ്ങളും പന്തീരായിരം കുതിരച്ചേവകരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അവരെ അവന് രാജാവിന്റെ രഥനഗരങ്ങളിലും യെരൂശലേമില് രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കലും പാര്പ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.

26. Solomon built up a force of fourteen hundred chariots and twelve thousand cavalry horses. Some of them he kept in Jerusalem and the rest he stationed in various other cities.

27. രാജാവു യെരൂശലേമില് വെള്ളിയെ പെരുപ്പംകൊണ്ടു കല്ലുപോലെയും ദേവദാരുവിനെ താഴ്വീതിയിലെ കാട്ടത്തിമരംപോലെയുമാക്കി.

27. During his reign silver was as common in Jerusalem as stone, and cedar was as plentiful as ordinary sycamore in the foothills of Judah.

28. ശലോമോന്നു കുതിരകളെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നതു മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നായിരുന്നു; രാജാവിന്റെ കച്ചവടക്കാര് അവയെ കൂട്ടമായിട്ടു വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ടുവരും.

28. The king's agents controlled the export of horses from Musri and Cilicia,

29. അവര് മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു രഥം ഒന്നിന്നു അറുനൂറും കുതിര ഒന്നിന്നു നൂറ്റമ്പതും വെള്ളിശേക്കല് വില കൊടുത്തു വാങ്ങികൊണ്ടുവരും; അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ അവര് ഹിത്യരുടെ സകലരാജാക്കന്മാര്ക്കും അരാംരാജാക്കന്മാര്ക്കും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു കൊടുക്കും.

29. and the export of chariots from Egypt. They supplied the Hittite and Syrian kings with horses and chariots, selling chariots for 600 pieces of silver each and horses for 150 each.
