1. എന്നാല് ഗിലെയാദിലെ തിശ്ബിയില്നിന്നുള്ള തിശ്ബ്യനായ ഏലീയാവു അഹാബിനോടുഞാന് സേവിച്ചുനിലക്കുന്ന യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയാണ, ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞല്ലാതെ ഈയാണ്ടുകളില് മഞ്ഞും മഴയും ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. ELIJAH THE Tishbite, of the temporary residents of Gilead, said to Ahab, As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, before Whom I stand, there shall not be dew or rain these years but according to My word.

2. പിന്നെ അവന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ഉണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

2. And the word of the Lord came to him, saying,

3. നീ ഇവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു കിഴക്കോട്ടു ചെന്നു യോര്ദ്ദാന്നു കിഴക്കുള്ള കെരീത്ത് തോട്ടിന്നരികെ ഒളിച്ചിരിക്ക.

3. Go from here and turn east and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, east of the Jordan.

4. തോട്ടില്നിന്നു നീ കുടിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം; അവിടെ നിനക്കു ഭക്ഷണം തരേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് കാക്കയോടു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. You shall drink of the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.

5. അങ്ങനെ അവന് പോയി യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനപ്രകാരം ചെയ്തു; അവന് ചെന്നു യോര്ദ്ദാന്നു കിഴക്കുള്ള കെരീത്ത് തോട്ടിന്നരികെ പാര്ത്തു.

5. So he did according to the word of the Lord; he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, east of the Jordan.

6. കാക്ക അവന്നു രാവിലെ അപ്പവും ഇറച്ചിയും വൈകുന്നേരത്തു അപ്പവും ഇറച്ചിയും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു കൊടുക്കും; തോട്ടില്നിന്നു അവന് കുടിക്കും.

6. And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning and bread and flesh in the evening, and he drank of the brook.

7. എന്നാല് ദേശത്തു മഴ പെയ്യായ്കയാല് കുറെ ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം തോടു വറ്റിപ്പോയി.

7. After a while the brook dried up because there was no rain in the land.

8. അപ്പോള് അവന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

8. And the word of the Lord came to him:

9. നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു സീദോനോടു ചേര്ന്ന സാരെഫാത്തിലേക്കു ചെന്നു അവിടെ പാര്ക്ക; നിന്നെ പുലര്ത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു അവിടെ ഉള്ള ഒരു വിധവയോടു ഞാന് കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

9. Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.

10. അങ്ങനെ അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു സാരെഫാത്തിന്നു പോയി. അവന് പട്ടണവാതില്ക്കല് എത്തിയപ്പോള് അവിടെ ഒരു വിധവ വിറകു പെറുക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. അവന് അവളെ വിളിച്ചുഎനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാന് ഒരു പാത്രത്തില് കുറെ വെള്ളം കൊണ്ടുവരേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. So he arose and went to Zarephath. When he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her, Bring me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

11. അവള് കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് പോകുമ്പോള് ഒരു കഷണം അപ്പവും കൂടെ നിന്റെ കയ്യില് കൊണ്ടുപോരേണമേ എന്നു അവന് അവളോടു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.

11. As she was going to get it, he called to her and said, Bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.

12. അതിന്നു അവള്നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയാണ, കലത്തില് ഒരു പിടി മാവും തുരുത്തിയില് അല്പം എണ്ണയും മാത്രമല്ലാതെ എനിക്കു ഒരു അപ്പവും ഇല്ല. ഞാന് ഇതാ, രണ്ടു വിറകു പെറുക്കുന്നു; ഇതു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു എനിക്കും മകന്നും വേണ്ടി ഒരുക്കി അതു ഞങ്ങള് തിന്നിട്ടു മരിപ്പാനിരിക്കയാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. And she said, As the Lord your God lives, I have not a loaf baked but only a handful of meal in the jar and a little oil in the bottle. See, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it--and die.

13. ഏലീയാവു അവളോടുഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; ചെന്നു നീ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ചെയ്ക; എന്നാല് ആദ്യം എനിക്കു ചെറിയോരു അട ഉണ്ടാക്കി കൊണ്ടുവരിക; പിന്നെ നിനക്കും നിന്റെ മകന്നും വേണ്ടി ഉണ്ടാക്കിക്കൊള്ക.

13. Elijah said to her, Fear not; go and do as you have said. But make me a little cake of [it] first and bring it to me, and afterward prepare some for yourself and your son.

14. യഹോവ ഭൂമിയില് മഴ പെയ്യിക്കുന്ന നാള്വരെ കലത്തിലെ മാവു തീര്ന്നുപോകയില്ല; ഭരണിയിലെ എണ്ണ കുറഞ്ഞുപോകയും ഇല്ല എന്നു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. For thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: The jar of meal shall not waste away or the bottle of oil fail until the day that the Lord sends rain on the earth.

15. അവള് ചെന്നു ഏലീയാവു പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ചെയ്തു; അങ്ങനെ അവളും അവനും അവളുടെ വീട്ടുകാരും ഏറിയനാള് അഹോവൃത്തികഴിച്ചു.

15. She did as Elijah said. And she and he and her household ate for many days.

16. യഹോവ ഏലീയാവുമുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചന പ്രകാരം കലത്തിലെ മാവു തീര്ന്നുപോയില്ല, ഭരണിയിലെ എണ്ണ കുറഞ്ഞുപോയതുമില്ല.

16. The jar of meal was not spent nor did the bottle of oil fail, according to the word which the Lord spoke through Elijah.

17. അനന്തരം വീട്ടുടമക്കാരത്തിയായ സ്ത്രീയുടെ മകന് ദീനം പിടിച്ചു കിടപ്പിലായി; ദീനം കടുത്തിട്ടു അവനില് ശ്വാസം ഇല്ലാതെയായി.

17. After these things, the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became sick; and his sickness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.

18. അപ്പോള് അവള് ഏലീയാവോടുഅയ്യോ ദൈവപുരുഷനേ, എനിക്കും നിനക്കും തമ്മില് എന്തു? എന്റെ പാപം ഔര്പ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും എന്റെ മകനെ കൊല്ലേണ്ടതിന്നും ആകുന്നുവോ നീ എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. And she said to Elijah, What have you against me, O man of God? Have you come to me to call my sin to remembrance and to slay my son?

19. അവന് അവളോടുനിന്റെ മകനെ ഇങ്ങു തരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവനെ അവളുടെ മടിയില്നിന്നെടുത്തു താന് പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന മാളികമുറിയില് കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു തന്റെ കട്ടിലിന്മേല് കിടത്തി.

19. He said to her, Give me your son. And he took him from her bosom and carried him up into the chamber where he stayed and laid him upon his own bed.

20. അവന് യഹോവയോടുഎന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, ഞാന് വന്നു പാര്ക്കുംന്ന ഇവിടത്തെ വിധവയുടെ മകനെ കൊല്ലുവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം നീ അവള്ക്കു അനര്ത്ഥം വരുത്തിയോ എന്നു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.

20. And Elijah cried to the Lord and said, O Lord my God, have You brought further calamity upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?

21. പിന്നെ അവന് കുട്ടിയുടെ മേല് മൂന്നുപ്രാവശ്യം കവിണ്ണുകിടന്നുഎന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, ഈ കുട്ടിയുടെ പ്രാണന് അവനില് മടങ്ങിവരുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു യഹോവയോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു.

21. And he stretched himself upon the child three times and cried to the Lord and said, O Lord my God, I pray You, let this child's soul come back into him.

22. യഹോവ ഏലീയാവിന്റെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന കേട്ടു; കുട്ടിയുടെ പ്രാണന് അവനില് മടങ്ങിവന്നു അവന് ജീവിച്ചു.

22. And the Lord heard the voice of Elijah, and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.

23. ഏലീയാവു കുട്ടിയെ എടുത്തു മാളികയില്നിന്നു താഴെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു കൊടുത്തുഇതാ, നിന്റെ മകന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഏലിയാവു പറഞ്ഞു.

23. And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the [lower part of the] house and gave him to his mother; and Elijah said, See, your son is alive!

24. സ്ത്രീ ഏലീയാവോടുനീ ദൈവപുരുഷന് എന്നും നിന്റെ നാവിന്മേലുള്ള യഹോവയുടെ വചനം സത്യമെന്നും ഞാന് ഇതിനാല് അറിയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. And the woman said to Elijah, By this I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is truth.
