1. യഹോവേ, നീ ദൂരത്തു നില്ക്കുന്നതെന്തു? കഷ്ടകാലത്തു നീ മറഞ്ഞുകളയുന്നതുമെന്തു?

1. Why do You stand afar off, O Lord? [Why] do You overlook [us] in times of need, in affliction?

2. ദുഷ്ടന്റെ അഹങ്കാരത്താല് എളിയവന് തപിക്കുന്നു; അവര് നിരൂപിച്ച ഉപായങ്ങളില് അവര് തന്നേ പിടിപെടട്ടെ.

2. While the ungodly one acts proudly, the poor is hotly pursued; [the wicked] are taken in the crafty counsels which they imagine.

3. ദുഷ്ടന് തന്റെ മനോരഥത്തില് പ്രശംസിക്കുന്നു; ദുരാഗ്രഹി യഹോവയെ ത്യജിച്ചു നിന്ദിക്കുന്നു.

3. Because the sinner praises himself for the desires of his heart; and the unjust one blesses himself.

4. ദുഷ്ടന് ഉന്നതഭാവത്തോടെഅവന് ചോദിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറയുന്നു; ദൈവം ഇല്ല എന്നാകുന്നു അവന്റെ നിരൂപണം ഒക്കെയും.

4. The sinner has provoked the Lord: according to the abundance of his pride he will not seek after [Him]; God is not before him.

5. അവന്റെ വഴികള് എല്ലായ്പോഴും സഫലമാകുന്നു; നിന്റെ ന്യായവിധികള് അവന് കാണാതവണ്ണം ഉയരമുള്ളവ; തന്റെ സകലശത്രുക്കളോടും അവന് ചീറുന്നു.

5. His ways are profane at all times; Your judgments are removed from before him: he will gain the mastery over all his enemies.

6. ഞാന് കുലുങ്ങുകയില്ല, ഒരുനാളും അനര്ത്ഥത്തില് വീഴുകയുമില്ല എന്നു അവന് തന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തില് പറയുന്നു.

6. For he has said in his heart, I shall not be moved, [continuing] without adversity from generation to generation.

7. അവന്റെ വായില് ശാപവും വ്യാജവും സാഹസവും നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ നാവിന് കീഴില് ദോഷവും അതിക്രമവും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

7. Whose mouth is full of cursing, and bitterness, and fraud: under his tongue are trouble and pain.

8. അവന് ഗ്രാമങ്ങളുടെ ഒളിവുകളില് പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; മറവിടങ്ങളില്വെച്ചു അവന് കുറ്റമില്ലാത്തവനെ കൊല്ലുന്നു; അവന് രഹസ്യമായി അഗതിയുടെമേല് കണ്ണു വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

8. He lies in wait with rich [men] in secret places, in order to slay the innocent: his eyes are set against the poor.

9. സിംഹം മുറ്റുകാട്ടില് എന്നപോലെ അവന് മറവിടത്തില് പതുങ്ങുന്നു; എളിയവനെ പിടിപ്പാന് അവന് പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; എളിയവനെ തന്റെ വലയില് ചാടിച്ചു പിടിക്കുന്നു.

9. He lies in wait in secret as a lion in his den: he lies in wait to ravish the poor, to ravish the poor when he draws him [after him]: he will bring him down in his snare.

10. അവന് കുനിഞ്ഞു പതുങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്നു; അഗതികള് അവന്റെ ബലത്താല് വീണു പോകുന്നു.

10. He will bow down and fall when he has mastered the poor.

11. ദൈവം മറന്നിരിക്കുന്നു, അവന് തന്റെ മുഖം മറെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് ഒരുനാളും കാണുകയില്ല എന്നു അവന് ഹൃദയത്തില് പറയുന്നു.

11. For he has said in his heart, God has forgotten; He has turned away His face so as never to look.

12. യഹോവേ, എഴുന്നേല്ക്കേണമേ, ദൈവമേ, തൃക്കൈ ഉയര്ത്തേണമേ; എളിയവരെ മറക്കരുതേ.

12. Arise, O Lord God; let Your hand be lifted up: forget not the poor.

13. ദുഷ്ടന് ദൈവത്തെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നതും നീ ചോദിക്കയില്ല എന്നു തന്റെ ഉള്ളില് പറയുന്നതും എന്തിന്നു?

13. Why has the wicked provoked God? For he has said in his heart, He will not require [it].

14. നീ അതു കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു, തൃക്കൈകൊണ്ടു പകരം ചെയ്വാന് ദോഷത്തെയും പകയെയും നീ നോക്കിക്കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അഗതി തന്നെത്താന് നിങ്കല് ഏല്പിക്കുന്നു; അനാഥന്നു നീ സഹായി ആകുന്നു.

14. You see [it]; for You observe trouble and wrath, to deliver them into Your hands; the poor has been left to You; You are a helper to the orphan.

15. ദുഷ്ടന്റെ ഭുജത്തെ നീ ഒടിക്കേണമേ; ദോഷിയുടെ ദുഷ്ടത ഇല്ലാതെയാകുവോളം അതിന്നു പ്രതികാരം ചെയ്യേണമേ.

15. Break the arm of the sinner and wicked man: his sin shall be sought for, and shall not be found.

16. യഹോവ എന്നെന്നേക്കും രാജാവാകുന്നു; ജാതികള് അവന്റെ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു നശിച്ചു പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. The Lord shall reign forever, even forever and ever: you Gentiles shall perish out His land.

17. ഭൂമിയില്നിന്നുള്ള മര്ത്യന് ഇനി ഭയപ്പെടുത്താതിരിപ്പാന് നീ അനാഥന്നും പീഡിതന്നും ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു

17. The Lord has heard the desire of the poor: Your ear has inclined to the preparation of their heart;

18. യഹോവേ, നീ സാധുക്കളുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ ഹൃദയത്തെ നീ ഉറപ്പിക്കയും നിന്റെ ചെവി ചായിച്ചു കേള്ക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

18. to plead for the orphan and afflicted, that man may no more boast upon the earth. [In the Septuagint, Psalms 9 and 10 are combined, and the Psalm numbers differ from this point on. [The Apostles' Bible] follows the traditional Psalm divisions, to avoid confusion.]
