1. ജ്ഞാനമുള്ള മകന് അപ്പന്റെ പ്രബോധനഫലം; പരിഹാസിയോ ശാസന കേട്ടനുസരിക്കുന്നില്ല.

1. A wise son heareth his father's instruction, but a scorner heareth not rebuke.

2. തന്റെ വായുടെ ഫലത്താല് മനുഷ്യന് നന്മ അനുഭവിക്കും; ദ്രോഹികളുടെ ആഗ്രഹമോ സാഹസം തന്നേ.

2. A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth, but the soul of the transgressor shall eat violence.

3. വായെ കാത്തുകൊള്ളുന്നവന് പ്രാണനെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; അധരങ്ങളെ പിളര്ക്കുംന്നവന്നോ നാശം ഭവിക്കും.

3. He that guardeth his mouth keepeth his life, but he that openeth wide his lips shall meet destruction.

4. മടിയന് കൊതിച്ചിട്ടും ഒന്നും കിട്ടുന്നില്ല; ഉത്സാഹികളുടെ പ്രാണന്നോ പുഷ്ടിയുണ്ടാകും.

4. The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing, but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

5. നീതിമാന് ഭോഷകു വെറുക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടനോ ലജ്ജയും നിന്ദയും വരുത്തുന്നു.

5. A righteous man hateth lying, but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.

6. നീതി സന്മാര്ഗ്ഗിയെ കാക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടതയോ പാപിയെ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

6. Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way, but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.

7. ഒന്നും ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞിട്ടും ധനികന് എന്നു നടിക്കുന്നവന് ഉണ്ടു; വളരെ ധനം ഉണ്ടായിട്ടും ദരിദ്രന് എന്നു നടിക്കുന്നവനും ഉണ്ടു;

7. There is one that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing; there is one that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.

8. മനുഷ്യന്റെ ജീവന്നു മറുവില അവന്റെ സമ്പത്തു തന്നേ; ദരിദ്രനോ ഭീഷണിപോലും കേള്ക്കേണ്ടിവരുന്നില്ല

8. The ransom of a man's life is his riches, but the poor heareth not rebuke.

9. നീതിമാന്റെ വെളിച്ചം പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വിളക്കോ കെട്ടുപോകും.

9. The light of the righteous rejoiceth, but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

10. അഹങ്കാരംകൊണ്ടു വിവാദംമാത്രം ഉണ്ടാകുന്നു; ആലോചന കേള്ക്കുന്നവരുടെ പക്കലോ ജ്ഞാനം ഉണ്ടു;

10. Only by pride cometh contention, but with the welladvised is wisdom.

11. അന്യായമായി സമ്പാദിച്ച ധനം കുറഞ്ഞു കുറഞ്ഞു പോകും; അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചു സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നവനോ വര്ദ്ധിച്ചു വര്ദ്ധിച്ചു വരും.

11. Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished, but he that gathereth by labor shall increase.

12. ആശാവിളംബനം ഹൃദയത്തെ ക്ഷീണിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; ഇച്ഛാനിവൃത്തിയോ ജീവവൃക്ഷം തന്നേ.

12. Hope deferred maketh the heart sick, but when a desire is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.

13. വചനത്തെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നവന് അതിന്നു ഉത്തരവാദി. കല്പനയെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നവനോ പ്രതിഫലം പ്രാപിക്കുന്നു.

13. Whoso despiseth the Word shall be destroyed, but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.

14. ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ ഉപദേശം ജീവന്റെ ഉറവാകുന്നു; അതിനാല് മരണത്തിന്റെ കണികളെ ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകും.

14. The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to turn him from the snares of death.

15. സല്ബുദ്ധിയാല് രഞ്ജനയുണ്ടാകുന്നു; ദ്രോഹിയുടെ വഴിയോ ദുര്ഘടം.

15. Good understanding giveth favor, but the way of transgressors is hard.

16. സൂക്ഷ്മബുദ്ധിയുള്ള ഏവനും പരിജ്ഞാനത്തോടെ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു; ഭോഷനോ തന്റെ ഭോഷത്വം വിടര്ത്തു കാണിക്കുന്നു.

16. Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge, but a fool layeth open his folly.

17. ദുഷ്ടദൂതന് ദോഷത്തില് അകപ്പെടുന്നു; വിശ്വസ്തനായ സ്ഥാനാപതിയോ സുഖം നലകുന്നു.

17. A wicked messenger falleth into mischief, but a faithful ambassador is health.

18. പ്രബോധനം ത്യജിക്കുന്നവന്നു ദാരിദ്ര്യവും ലജ്ജയും വരും. ശാസനക്കുട്ടാക്കുന്നവനോ ബഹുമാനം ലഭിക്കും.

18. Poverty and shame shall be with him that refuseth instruction, but he that hath regard for reproof shall be honored.

19. ഇച്ഛാനിവൃത്തി മനസ്സിന്നു മധുരമാകുന്നു; ദോഷം വിട്ടകലുന്നതോ ഭോഷന്മാര്ക്കും വെറുപ്പു.

19. The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul, but it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil.

20. ജ്ഞാനികളോടുകൂടെ നടക്ക; നീയും ജ്ഞാനിയാകും; ഭോഷന്മാര്ക്കും കൂട്ടാളിയായവനോ വ്യസനിക്കേണ്ടിവരും.

20. He that walketh with wise men shall be wise, but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

21. ദോഷം പാപികളെ പിന്തുടരുന്നു; നീതിമാന്മാര്ക്കോ നന്മ പ്രതിഫലമായി വരും.

21. Evil pursueth sinners, but to the righteous, good shall be repaid.

22. ഗുണവാന് മക്കളുടെ മക്കള്ക്കു അവകാശം വെച്ചേക്കുന്നു; പാപിയുടെ സമ്പത്തോ നീതിമാന്നു വേണ്ടി സംഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.

22. A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children, and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

23. സാധുക്കളുടെ കൃഷി വളരെ ആഹാരം നലകുന്നു; എന്നാല് അന്യായം ചെയ്തിട്ടു നശിച്ചുപോകുന്നവരും ഉണ്ടു.

23. Much food is in the tillage of the poor, but there is that which is destroyed for want of judgment.

24. വടി ഉപയോഗിക്കാത്തവന് തന്റെ മകനെ പകെക്കുന്നു; അവനെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവനോ ചെറുപ്പത്തിലേ അവനെ ശിക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

24. He that spareth his rod hateth his son, but he that loveth him chasteneth him in good season.

25. നീതിമാന് വേണ്ടുവോളം ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വയറോ വിശന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും.

25. The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul, but the belly of the wicked shall want.
