1. മൃദുവായ ഉത്തരം ക്രോധത്തെ ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; കഠിനവാക്കോ കോപത്തെ ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

1. A soft answere putteth away wrath: but grieuous wordes stirre vp anger.

2. ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ നാവു നല്ല പരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നു. മൂഢന്മാരുടെ വായോ ഭോഷത്വം പൊഴിക്കുന്നു.

2. The tongue of the wise vseth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fooles babbleth out foolishnesse.

3. യഹോവയുടെ കണ്ണു എല്ലാടവും ഉണ്ടു; ആകാത്തവരെയും നല്ലവരെയും നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

3. The eyes of the Lord in euery place beholde the euill and the good.

4. നാവിന്റെ ശാന്തത ജീവവൃക്ഷം; അതിന്റെ വക്രതയോ മനോവ്യസനം.

4. A wholesome tongue is as a tree of life: but the frowardnes therof is the breaking of ye minde.

5. ഭോഷന് അപ്പന്റെ പ്രബോധനം നിരസിക്കുന്നു; ശാസനയെ കൂട്ടാക്കുന്നവനോ വിവേകിയായ്തീരും.

5. A foole despiseth his fathers instruction: but he that regardeth correction, is prudent.

6. നീതിമാന്റെ വീട്ടില് വളരെ നിക്ഷേപം ഉണ്ടു; ദുഷ്ടന്റെ ആദായത്തിലോ അനര്ത്ഥം.

6. The house of the righteous hath much treasure: but in the reuenues of the wicked is trouble.

7. ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ അധരങ്ങള് പരിജ്ഞാനം വിതറുന്നു; മൂഢന്മാരുടെ ഹൃദയമോ നേരുള്ളതല്ല.

7. The lippes of the wise doe spread abroade knowledge: but ye heart of the foolish doth not so.

8. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ യാഗം യഹോവേക്കു വെറുപ്പു; നേരുള്ളവരുടെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥനയോ അവന്നു പ്രസാദം.

8. The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the righteous is acceptable vnto him.

9. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വഴി യഹോവേക്കു വെറുപ്പു; എന്നാല് നീതിയെ പിന്തുടരുന്നവനെ അവന് സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു.

9. The way of the wicked is an abomination vnto the Lord: but he loueth him that followeth righteousnes.

10. സന്മാര്ഗ്ഗം ത്യജിക്കുന്നവന്നു കഠിനശിക്ഷ വരും; ശാസന വെറുക്കുന്നവന് മരിക്കും.

10. Instruction is euill to him that forsaketh the way, and he that hateth correction, shall die.

11. പാതാളവും നരകവും യഹോവയുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; മനുഷ്യപുത്രന്മാരുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങള് എത്ര അധികം!

11. Hell and destruction are before the Lord: how much more the hearts of the sonnes of men?

12. പരിഹാസി ശാസന ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നില്ല; ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുന്നതുമില്ല.

12. A scorner loueth not him that rebuketh him, neither will he goe vnto the wise.

13. സന്തോഷമുള്ള ഹൃദയം മുഖപ്രസാദമുണ്ടാക്കുന്നു; ഹൃദയത്തിലെ വ്യസനംകൊണ്ടോ ധൈര്യം ക്ഷയിക്കുന്നു.

13. A ioyfull heart maketh a chearefull countenance: but by the sorow of the heart the minde is heauie.

14. വിവേകമുള്ളവന്റെ ഹൃദയം പരിജ്ഞാനം അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; മൂഢന്മാരുടെ വായോ ഭോഷത്വം ആചരിക്കുന്നു.

14. The heart of him that hath vnderstanding, seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of the foole is fedde with foolishnes.

15. അരിഷ്ടന്റെ ജീവനാള് ഒക്കെയും കഷ്ടകാലം; സന്തുഷ്ടഹൃദയന്നോ നിത്യം ഉത്സവം.

15. All the dayes of the afflicted are euill: but a good conscience is a continuall feast.

16. ബഹു നിക്ഷേപവും അതിനോടുകൂടെ കഷ്ടതയും ഉള്ളതിനെക്കാള് യഹോവാഭക്തിയോടുകൂടെ അല്പധനം ഉള്ളതു നന്നു.

16. Better is a litle with the feare of the Lord, then great treasure, and trouble therewith.

17. ദ്വേഷമുള്ളെടത്തെ തടിപ്പിച്ച കാളയെക്കാള് സ്നേഹമുള്ളെടത്തെ ശാകഭോജനം നല്ലതു.

17. Better is a dinner of greene herbes where loue is, then a stalled oxe and hatred therewith.

18. ക്രോധമുള്ള കലഹം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു; ദീര്ഘക്ഷമയുള്ളവനോ കലഹം ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

18. An angrie man stirreth vp strife: but hee that is slowe to wrath, appeaseth strife.

19. മടിയന്റെ വഴി മുള്ളുവേലിപോലെയാകുന്നു; നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പാതയോ പെരുവഴി തന്നേ.

19. The way of a slouthfull man is as an hedge of thornes: but the way of the righteous is plaine.

20. ജ്ഞാനമുള്ള മകന് അപ്പനെ സന്തോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; മൂഢനോ അമ്മയെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നു.

20. A wise sonne reioyceth the father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.

21. ഭോഷത്വം ബുദ്ധിഹീനന്നു സന്തോഷം; വിവേകിയോ ചൊവ്വായി നടക്കുന്നു.

21. Foolishnes is ioy to him that is destitute of vnderstanding: but a man of vnderstanding walketh vprightly.

22. ആലോചന ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞാല് ഉദ്ദേശങ്ങള് സാധിക്കാതെ പോകുന്നു; ആലോചനക്കാരുടെ ബഹുത്വത്താലോ അവ സാധിക്കുന്നു.

22. Without cousel thoughts come to nought: but in the multitude of counsellers there is stedfastnesse.

23. താന് പറയുന്ന ഉത്തരം ഹേതുവായി മനുഷ്യന്നു സന്തോഷം വരും; തക്കസമയത്തു പറയുന്ന വാക്കു എത്ര മനോഹരം!

23. A ioy commeth to a man by the answere of his mouth: and how good is a word in due season?

24. ബുദ്ധിമാന്റെ ജീവയാത്ര മേലോട്ടാകുന്നു; കീഴെയുള്ള പാതാളത്തെ അവന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകും.

24. The way of life is on high to the prudent, to auoyde from hell beneath.

25. അഹങ്കാരിയുടെ വീടു യഹോവ പൊളിച്ചുകളയും; വിധവയുടെ അതിരോ അവന് ഉറപ്പിക്കും.

25. The Lord will destroye the house of the proude men: but hee will stablish the borders of the widowe.

26. ദുരുപായങ്ങള് യഹോവേക്കു വെറുപ്പു; ദയാവാക്കോ നിര്മ്മലം.

26. The thoughts of ye wicked are abomination to the Lord: but the pure haue pleasant wordes.

27. ദുരാഗ്രഹി തന്റെ ഭവനത്തെ വലെക്കുന്നു; കോഴ വെറുക്കുന്നവനോ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും.

27. He that is greedie of gaine, troubleth his owne house: but he that hateth giftes, shall liue.

28. നീതിമാന് മനസ്സില് ആലോചിച്ചു ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വായോ ദോഷങ്ങളെ പൊഴിക്കുന്നു.

28. The heart of the righteous studieth to answere: but the wicked mans mouth babbleth euil thinges.

29. യഹോവ ദുഷ്ടന്മാരോടു അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥനയോ അവന് കേള്ക്കുന്നു.

29. The Lord is farre off from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

30. കണ്ണിന്റെ ശോഭ ഹൃദയത്തെ സന്തോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; നല്ല വര്ത്തമാനം അസ്ഥികളെ തണുപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

30. The light of the eyes reioyceth the heart, and a good name maketh the bones fat.

31. ജീവാര്ത്ഥമായ ശാസന കേള്ക്കുന്ന ചെവിയുള്ളവന് ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ വസിക്കും.

31. The eare that hearkeneth to the correction of life, shall lodge among the wise.

32. പ്രബോധനം ത്യജിക്കുന്നവന് തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ നിരസിക്കുന്നു; ശാസന കേട്ടനുസരിക്കുന്നവനോ വിവേകം സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നു.

32. Hee that refuseth instruction, despiseth his owne soule: but he that obeyeth correction, getteth vnderstanding.

33. യഹോവാഭക്തി ജ്ഞാനോപദേശമാകുന്നു; മാനത്തിന്നു വിനയം മുന്നോടിയാകുന്നു.

33. The feare of the Lord is the instruction of wisdome: and before honour, goeth humilitie.
