1. ഹിസ്കീയാരാജാവു അതു കേട്ടപ്പോള് വസ്ത്രം കീറി രട്ടുടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് ചെന്നു.

1. When King Hezekiah heard this, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth, and went to the LORD's temple.

2. പിന്നെ അവന് രാജധാനിവിചാരകന് എല്യാക്കീമിനെയും രായസക്കാരന് ശെബ്നയെയും പുരോഹിതന്മാരില് മൂപ്പന്മാരെയും രട്ടുടുത്തവരായി ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാ പ്രവാചകന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചു.

2. Eliakim the palace supervisor, Shebna the scribe, and the leading priests, clothed in sackcloth, sent this message to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz:

3. This is what Hezekiah says: 'This is a day of distress, insults, and humiliation, as when a baby is ready to leave the birth canal, but the mother lacks the strength to push it through.

4. ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തെ നിന്ദിപ്പാന് രബ്-ശാക്കേയെ അവന്റെ യജമാനനായ അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവു അയച്ചു പറയിക്കുന്ന വാക്കു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ പക്ഷേ കേള്ക്കും; നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന വാക്കിന്നു പ്രതികാരം ചെയ്യും; ആകയാല് ഇനിയും ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും വേണ്ടി പക്ഷവാദം കഴിക്കേണമേ.

4. Perhaps the LORD your God will hear all these things the chief adviser has spoken on behalf of his master, the king of Assyria, who sent him to taunt the living God. When the LORD your God hears, perhaps he will punish him for the things he has said. So pray for this remnant that remains.''

5. ഹിസ്കീയാരാജാവിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാര് യെശയ്യാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നപ്പോള് യെശയ്യാവു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു

5. When King Hezekiah's servants came to Isaiah,

6. നിങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനനോടു പറയേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നാല്യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഅശ്ശൂര്രാജാവിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാര് എന്നെ നിന്ദിച്ചതായി നീ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന വാക്കു നിമിത്തം ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ.

6. Isaiah said to them, 'Tell your master this: 'This is what the LORD says: 'Don't be afraid because of the things you have heard these insults the king of Assyria's servants have hurled against me.

7. ഞാന് അവന്നു ഒരു മനോവിഭ്രമം വരുത്തും; അവന് ഒരു ശ്രുതി കേട്ടിട്ടു സ്വദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകും; ഞാന് അവനെ അവന്റെ സ്വന്തദേശത്തുവെച്ചു വാള്കൊണ്ടു വീഴുമാറാക്കും.

7. Look, I will take control of his mind; he will receive a report and return to his own land. I will cut him down with a sword in his own land.'''

8. രബ്-ശാക്കേ മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവു ലിബ്നയുടെ നേരെ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുന്നതു കണ്ടു; അവന് ലാക്കീശ് വിട്ടുപോയി എന്നു അവന് കേട്ടിരുന്നു.

8. When the chief adviser heard the king of Assyria had departed from Lachish, he left and went to Libnah, where the king was campaigning.

9. The king heard that King Tirhakah of Ethiopia was marching out to fight him. He again sent messengers to Hezekiah, ordering them:

10. നിങ്ങള് യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ഹിസ്കീയാവോടു പറയേണ്ടതുയെരൂശലേം അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചുകളകയില്ല എന്നു നീ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ ദൈവം നിന്നെ ചതിക്കരുതു.

10. 'Tell King Hezekiah of Judah this: 'Don't let your God in whom you trust mislead you when he says, 'Jerusalem will not be handed over to the king of Assyria.'

11. അശ്ശൂര്രാജാക്കന്മാര് സകലദേശങ്ങളോടും ചെയ്തതും അവേക്കു ഉന്മൂലനാശം വരുത്തിയതും നീ കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ; നീ വിടുവിക്കപ്പെടുമോ?

11. Certainly you have heard how the kings of Assyria have annihilated all lands. Do you really think you will be rescued?

12. ഗോസാന് , ഹാരാന് , രേസെഫ, തെലസ്സാരിലെ ഏദേന്യര് എന്നിങ്ങനെ എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞ ജാതികളുടെ ദേവന്മാര് അവരെ വിടുവിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

12. Were the nations whom my predecessors destroyed the nations of Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the people of Eden in Telassar rescued by their gods?

13. ഹമാത്ത് രാജാവും അര്പ്പാദ്രാജാവും സെഫര്വ്വയീംപട്ടണം, ഹേന, ഇവ്വ എന്നിവേക്കു രാജാവായിരുന്നവനും എവിടെ?

13. Where are the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, and the kings of Lair, Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah?''

14. ഹിസ്കീയാവു ദൂതന്മാരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു എഴുത്തുവാങ്ങി വായിച്ചു; ഹിസ്കീയാവു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് ചെന്നു യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് അതു വിടര്ത്തു.

14. Hezekiah took the letter from the messengers and read it. Then Hezekiah went up to the LORD's temple and spread it out before the LORD.

15. ഹിസ്കീയാവു യഹോവയോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

15. Hezekiah prayed before the LORD:

16. യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായി കെരൂബുകളുടെ മീതെ അധിവസിക്കുന്നവനായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവേ, നീ ഒരുത്തന് മാത്രം ഭൂമിയിലെ സര്വ്വരാജ്യങ്ങള്ക്കും ദൈവമാകുന്നു; നീ ആകാശത്തെയും ഭൂമിയെയും ഉണ്ടാക്കി.

16. 'O LORD who commands armies, O God of Israel, who is enthroned on the cherubim! You alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the sky and the earth.

17. യഹോവേ, ചെവി ചായിച്ചു കേള്ക്കേണമേ; യഹോവേ, തൃക്കണ്ണു തുറന്നു നോക്കേണമേ; ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തെ നിന്ദിപ്പാന് ആളയച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന സന് ഹേരീബിന്റെ വാക്കു ഒക്കെയും കേള്ക്കേണമേ.

17. Pay attention, LORD, and hear! Open your eyes, LORD, and observe! Listen to this entire message Sennacherib sent and how he taunts the living God!

18. യഹോവേ, അശ്ശൂര്രാജാക്കന്മാര് സര്വ്വജാതികളെയും അവരുടെ ദേശത്തെയും ശൂന്യമാക്കി,

18. It is true, LORD, that the kings of Assyria have destroyed all the nations and their lands.

19. അവരുടെ ദേവന്മാരെ തീയില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞതു സത്യം തന്നേ; അവ ദേവന്മാരല്ല, മനുഷ്യരുടെ കൈപ്പണിയായ മരവും കല്ലും മാത്രം ആയിരുന്നുവല്ലോ; ആകയാല് അവര് അവയെ നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

19. They have burned the gods of the nations, for they are not really gods, but only the product of human hands manufactured from wood and stone. That is why the Assyrians could destroy them.

20. ഇപ്പോഴോ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, നീ ഒരുത്തന് മാത്രം യഹോവ എന്നു ഭൂമിയിലെ സകലരാജ്യങ്ങളും അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ അവന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു രക്ഷിക്കേണമേ.

20. Now, O LORD our God, rescue us from his power, so all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone are the LORD.'

21. ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാവു ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് പറഞ്ഞയച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാല്യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനീ അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവായ സന് ഹേരീബ് നിമിത്തം എന്നോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു,

21. Isaiah son of Amoz sent this message to Hezekiah: 'This is what the LORD God of Israel says: 'Because you prayed to me concerning King Sennacherib of Assyria,

22. അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനം ആവിതുസീയോന് പുത്രിയായ കന്യക നിന്നെ നിന്ദിച്ചു പരിഹസിക്കുന്നു; യെരൂശലേംപുത്രി നിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ തലകുലുക്കുന്നു.

22. this is what the LORD says about him: 'The virgin daughter Zion despises you she makes fun of you; daughter Jerusalem shakes her head after you.

23. നീ ആരെയാകുന്നു നിന്ദിച്ചു ദുഷിച്ചതു? ആര്ക്കും വിരോധമായിട്ടാകുന്നു നീ ഒച്ച പൊക്കുകയും തല ഉന്നതമായി ഉയര്ത്തുകയും ചെയ്തതു? യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധന്നു വിരോധമായിട്ടു തന്നെയല്ലോ?

23. Whom have you taunted and hurled insults at? At whom have you shouted and looked so arrogantly? At the Holy One of Israel!

24. നിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാര്മുഖാന്തരം നീ കര്ത്താവിനെ നിന്ദിച്ചു; എന്റെ അസംഖ്യരഥങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഞാന് മലമുകളിലും ലെബാനോന്റെ ശിഖരങ്ങളിലും കയറിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അതിലെ പൊക്കമുള്ള ദേവദാരുക്കളും വിശേഷമായ സരളവൃക്ഷങ്ങളും ഞാന് മുറിക്കും; അതിന്റെ അറ്റത്തെ കൊടുമുടിവരെയും അതിന്റെ ചെഴിപ്പുള്ള കാടുവരെയും ഞാന് കടന്നുചെല്ലും;

24. Through your messengers you taunted the sovereign master, 'With my many chariots I climbed up the high mountains, the slopes of Lebanon. I cut down its tall cedars and its best evergreens. I invaded its most remote regions, its thickest woods.

25. ഞാന് വെള്ളം കുഴിച്ചെടുത്തു കുടിക്കും; എന്റെ കാലടികളാല് മിസ്രയീമിലെ സകലനദികളെയും വറ്റിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

25. I dug wells and drank water. With the soles of my feet I dried up all the rivers of Egypt.'

26. ഞാന് പണ്ടുപണ്ടേ അതിനെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി; പൂര്വ്വകാലത്തു തന്നേ അതിനെ നിര്മ്മിച്ചു എന്നു നീ കേട്ടിട്ടില്ലയോ? നീ ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളെ മുടിച്ചു ശൂന്യകൂമ്പാരങ്ങളാക്കുവാന് ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള് സംഗതി വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. Certainly you must have heard! Long ago I worked it out, in ancient times I planned it, and now I am bringing it to pass. The plan is this: Fortified cities will crash into heaps of ruins.

27. അതുകൊണ്ടു അവയിലെ നിവാസികള് ദുര്ബ്ബലന്മാരായി വിരണ്ടു അമ്പരന്നുപോയി; അവര് വയലിലെ പുല്ലും പച്ചച്ചെടിയും പുരപ്പുറങ്ങളിലെ പുല്ലും വളരുംമുമ്പെ കരിഞ്ഞുപോയ ധാന്യവുംപോലെ ആയിത്തീര്ന്നു.

27. Their residents are powerless; they are terrified and ashamed. They are as short-lived as plants in the field or green vegetation. They are as short-lived as grass on the rooftops when it is scorched by the east wind.

28. എന്നാല് നിന്റെ ഇരിപ്പും നിന്റെ ഗമനവും ആഗമനവും എന്റെ നേരെയുള്ള നിന്റെ കോപഭ്രാന്തും ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു.

28. I know where you live and everything you do and how you rage against me.

29. എന്റെ നേരെയുള്ള നിന്റെ കോപഭ്രാന്തുകൊണ്ടും നിന്റെ അഹങ്കാരം എന്റെ ചെവിയില് എത്തിയിരിക്കകൊണ്ടും ഞാന് എന്റെ കൊളുത്തു നിന്റെ മൂക്കിലും എന്റെ കടിഞ്ഞാണ് നിന്റെ അധരങ്ങളിലും ഇട്ടു നീ വന്ന വഴിക്കു തന്നേ നിന്നെ മടക്കി കൊണ്ടുപോകും.

29. Because you rage against me and the uproar you create has reached my ears, I will put my hook in your nose, and my bridle between your lips, and I will lead you back the way you came.'

30. എന്നാല് ഇതു നിനക്കു അടയാളമാകുംനിങ്ങള് ഈ ആണ്ടില് പടുവിത്തു വിളയുന്നതും രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടില് താനേ കിളുര്ത്തുവിളയുന്നതും തിന്നും; മൂന്നാം ആണ്ടില് നിങ്ങള് വിതെച്ചു കൊയ്യുകയും മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടങ്ങള് ഉണ്ടാക്കി അവയുടെ പഴം തിന്നുകയും ചെയ്യും.

30. 'This will be your reminder that I have spoken the truth: This year you will eat what grows wild, and next year what grows on its own. But the year after that you will plant seed and harvest crops; you will plant vines and consume their produce.

31. യെഹൂദാഗൃഹത്തില് രക്ഷപ്പെട്ട ഒരു ശേഷിപ്പു വീണ്ടും താഴേ വേരൂന്നി മീതെ ഫലം കായിക്കും.

31. Those who remain in Judah will take root in the ground and bear fruit.

32. ഒരു ശേഷിപ്പു യെരൂശലേമില്നിന്നും ഒരു രക്ഷിതഗണം സീയോന് പര്വ്വതത്തില് നിന്നും പുറപ്പെട്ടുവരും; സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ തീക്ഷണത അതിനെ അനുഷ്ഠിക്കും.

32. 'For a remnant will leave Jerusalem; survivors will come out of Mount Zion. The intense devotion of the LORD who commands armies will accomplish this.

33. ആകയാല് യഹോവ അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഅവന് ഈ നഗരത്തിലേക്കു വരികയില്ല; ഒരു അമ്പു അവിടെ എയ്കയുമില്ല; അതിന്റെ നേരെ പരിചയോടുകൂടെ വരികയില്ല; അതിന്നെതിരെ വാടകോരുകയുമില്ല.

33. So this is what the LORD says about the king of Assyria: 'He will not enter this city, nor will he shoot an arrow here. He will not attack it with his shielded warriors, nor will he build siege works against it.

34. അവന് വന്ന വഴിക്കുതന്നേ മടങ്ങിപ്പോകും; ഈ നഗരത്തിലേക്കു വരികയുമില്ല;

34. He will go back the way he came he will not enter this city,' says the LORD.

35. എന്റെ നിമിത്തവും എന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ നിമിത്തവും ഞാന് ഈ നഗരത്തെ പാലിച്ചു രക്ഷിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

35. I will shield this city and rescue it for the sake of my reputation and because of my promise to David my servant.'''

36. എന്നാല് യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു അശ്ശൂര്പാളയത്തില് നൂറ്റിയെണ്പത്തയ്യായിരം പേരെ കൊന്നു; ജനം രാവിലേ എഴുന്നേറ്റപ്പോള് അവര് എല്ലാവരും ശവങ്ങളായി കിടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

36. The LORD's messenger went out and killed 185,000 troops in the Assyrian camp. When they got up early the next morning, there were all the corpses!

37. അങ്ങനെ അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവായ സന് ഹേരീബ് യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി നീനവേയില് പാര്ത്തു.

37. So King Sennacherib of Assyria broke camp and went on his way. He went home and stayed in Nineveh.

38. എന്നാല് അവന് തന്റെ ദേവനായ നിസ്രോക്കിന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില് നമസ്കരിക്കുന്ന സമയത്തു അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരായ അദ്രമ്മേലെക്കും ശരേസെരും അവനെ വാള്കൊണ്ടു കൊന്നിട്ടു അരാരാത്ത് ദേശത്തേക്കു ഔടിപ്പൊയ്ക്കളഞ്ഞു; അവന്റെ മകനായ ഏസര്ഹദ്ദോന് അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായിത്തീര്ന്നു.

38. One day, as he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him down with the sword. They ran away to the land of Ararat; his son Esarhaddon replaced him as king.
