1. ബാബേല്പുത്രിയായ കന്യകേ, ഇറങ്ങി പൊടിയില് ഇരിക്ക; കല്ദയപുത്രീ, സിംഹാസനം കൂടാതെ നിലത്തിരിക്ക; നിന്നെ ഇനി തന്വംഗി എന്നും സുഖഭോഗിനി എന്നും വിളിക്കയില്ല.

1. 'Go down and sit in the dust, Virgin Daughter Babylon. Sit on the ground without a throne, Daughter Chaldea! For you will no longer be called pampered and spoiled.

2. തിരികല്ലു എടുത്തു മാവു പൊടിക്ക; നിന്റെ മൂടുപടം നീക്കുക; വസ്ത്രാന്തം എടുത്തു കുത്തി തുട മറെക്കാതെ നദികളെ കടക്ക.

2. Take millstones and grind meal; remove your veil, strip off [your] skirt, bare your thigh, wade through the streams.

3. നിന്റെ നഗ്നത അനാവൃതമാകും; നിന്റെ നാണിടം കാണും; ഞാന് ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെയും ആദരിക്കാതെ പ്രതികാരം നടത്തും.

3. Your nakedness will be uncovered, and your shame will be exposed. I will take vengeance; I will spare no one.

4. ഞങ്ങളുടെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരനോ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ, യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധന് എന്നാകുന്നു അവന്റെ നാമം.

4. The Holy One of Israel is our Redeemer; the LORD of Hosts is His name.

5. കല്ദയപുത്രീ, മിണ്ടാതെയിരിക്ക; ഇരുട്ടത്തു പോക; നിന്നെ ഇനി രാജ്യങ്ങളുടെ തമ്പുരാട്ടി എന്നു വിളിക്കയില്ല.

5. Daughter Chaldea, sit in silence and go into darkness. For you will no longer be called mistress of kingdoms.

6. ഞാന് എന്റെ ജനത്തോടു ക്രുദ്ധിച്ചു, എന്റെ അവകാശത്തെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കി, അവരെ നിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചുതന്നു; നീ അവരോടു കനിവു കാണിക്കാതെ വൃദ്ധന്മാരുടെ മേല്പോലും നിന്റെ ഭാരമുള്ള നുകം വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

6. I was angry with My people; I profaned My possession, and I placed them under your control. You showed them no mercy; you made your yoke very heavy on the elderly.

7. ഞാന് എന്നേക്കും തമ്പുരാട്ടി ആയിരിക്കും എന്നു നീ പറഞ്ഞു അതു കൂട്ടാക്കാതെയും അതിന്റെ അവസാനം ഔര്ക്കാതെയും ഇരുന്നു.

7. You said: I will be the mistress forever. You did not take these things to heart or think about their outcome.

8. ആകയാല്ഞാന് മാത്രം; എനിക്കു തുല്യമായി മറ്റാരുമില്ല; ഞാന് വിധവയായിരിക്കയില്ല; പുത്രനഷ്ടം അറികയുമില്ല എന്നു ഹൃദയത്തില് പറയുന്ന സുഖഭോഗിനിയും നിര്ഭയവാസിനിയും ആയുള്ളവളേ, ഇതു കേള്ക്ക

8. 'So now hear this, lover of luxury, who sits securely, who says to herself: I, and no one else, will never be a widow or know the loss of children.

9. പുത്രനഷ്ടം, വൈധവ്യം ഇവ രണ്ടും പെട്ടെന്നു ഒരു ദിവസത്തില് തന്നേ നിനക്കു ഭവിക്കും; നിന്റെ ക്ഷുദ്രപ്രയോഗങ്ങള് എത്ര പെരുകിയിരുന്നാലും നിന്റെ ആഭിചാരങ്ങള് എത്ര അധികമായിരുന്നാലും അവ നിനക്കു നിറപടിയായി ഭവിക്കാതിരിക്കയില്ല.

9. These two things will happen to you suddenly, in one day: loss of children and widowhood. They will happen to you in their entirety, in spite of your many sorceries and the potency of your spells.

10. നീ നിന്റെ ദുഷ്ടതയില് ആശ്രയിച്ചു, ആരും എന്നെ കാണുന്നില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ; നിന്റെ ജ്ഞാനവും നിന്റെ വിദ്യയും നിന്നെ തെറ്റിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; ഞാന് മാത്രം; എനിക്കു തുല്യമായി മറ്റാരും ഇല്ല എന്നു നീ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തില് പറഞ്ഞു.

10. You were secure in your wickedness; you said: No one sees me. Your wisdom and knowledge led you astray. You said to yourself: I, and no one else.

11. അതുകൊണ്ടു മന്ത്രവാദത്താല് നീക്കുവാന് കഴിയാത്ത അനര്ത്ഥം നിന്റെമേല് വരും; നിന്നാല് പരിഹരിപ്പാന് കഴിയാത്ത ആപത്തു നിനക്കു ഭവിക്കും; നീ അറിയാത്ത നാശം പെട്ടെന്നു നിന്റെ മേല് വരും.

11. But disaster will happen to you; you will not know how to avert it. And it will fall on you, but you will be unable to ward it off. Devastation will happen to you suddenly and unexpectedly.

12. നീ ബാല്യം മുതല് അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചു ചെയ്യുന്ന നിന്റെ മന്ത്രവാദങ്ങള്കൊണ്ടും ക്ഷുദ്രപ്രയോഗങ്ങളുടെ പെരുപ്പംകൊണ്ടും ഇപ്പോള് നിന്നുകൊള്ക; പക്ഷേ ഫലിക്കും; പക്ഷേ നീ പേടിപ്പിക്കും!

12. So take your stand with your spells and your many sorceries, which you have wearied yourself with from your youth. Perhaps you will be able to succeed; perhaps you will inspire terror!

13. നിന്റെ ആലോചനാബാഹുല്യംകൊണ്ടു നീ വലഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ജ്യോതിഷക്കാരും നക്ഷത്രം നോക്കുന്നവരും നിനക്കു വരുവാനുള്ള മാസാന്തരം അറിയിക്കുന്നവരും ഇപ്പോള് എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കട്ടെ.

13. You are worn out with your many consultations. So let them stand and save you-- the astrologers, who observe the stars, who predict monthly what will happen to you.

14. ഇതാ, അവര് താളടിപോലെര ആയി തീക്കു ഇരയാകും; അവര് അഗ്നിജ്വാലയില്നിന്നു തങ്ങളെ തന്നേ വിടുവിക്കയില്ല; അതു കുളിര് മാറ്റുവാന് തക്ക കനലും കായുവാന് തക്ക തീയും അല്ല.

14. Look, they are like stubble; fire burns them up. They cannot deliver themselves from the power of the flame. This is not a coal for warming themselves, or a fire to sit beside!

15. ഇങ്ങനെയാകും നീ അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു; നിന്റെ ബാല്യംമുതല് നിന്നോടുകൂടെ വ്യപാരം ചെയ്തവര് ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ ദിക്കിലേക്കു അലഞ്ഞുപോകും ആരും നിന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കയില്ല.

15. This is what they are to you-- those who have wearied you and have traded with you from your youth-- each wanders on his own way; no one can save you.
