1. യോശീയാവിന്റെ മകനായി യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീമിന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ ആരംഭത്തിങ്കല് യഹോവയിങ്കല്നിന്നുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാടാവിതു;

1. This is the Message given to Jeremiah for all the people of Judah. It came in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah. It was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.

2. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനീ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ പ്രാകാരത്തില് നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു, യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് നമസ്കരിപ്പാന് വരുന്ന സകല യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങളോടും പ്രസ്താവിപ്പാന് ഞാന് നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്ന സകലവചനങ്ങളെയും അവരോടു പ്രസ്താവിക്ക; ഒരു വാക്കും വിട്ടുകളയരുതു.

2. Jeremiah the prophet delivered the Message to all the people of Judah and citizens of Jerusalem:

3. അവരുടെ ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തികള്നിമിത്തം ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും വരുത്തുവാന് വിചാരിക്കുന്ന അനര്ത്ഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ഞാന് അനുതപിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം പക്ഷേ അവര് കേട്ടു ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ ദുര്മ്മാര്ഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുതിരിയുമായിരിക്കും.

3. From the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah right up to the present day--twenty-three years it's been!--GOD's Word has come to me, and from early each morning to late every night I've passed it on to you. And you haven't listened to a word of it!

4. എന്നാല് നീ അവരോടു പറയേണ്ടതുയഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് ഇടവിടാതെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചു പറയിച്ചിട്ടും നിങ്ങള് കൂട്ടാക്കാതിരുന്ന എന്റെ ദാസന്മാരായ പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ വചനങ്ങളെ കേള്പ്പാനും

4. Not only that, but God also sent a steady stream of prophets to you who were just as persistent as me, and you never listened.

5. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പില് വെച്ച എന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെ അനുസരിച്ചുനടപ്പാനും നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കയില്ലെങ്കില്,

5. They told you, 'Turn back--right now, each one of you!--from your evil way of life and bad behavior, and live in the land GOD gave you and your ancestors, the land he intended to give you forever.

6. ഞാന് ഈ ആലയത്തെ ശീലോവിന്നു തുല്യമാക്കി ഈ നഗരത്തെ ഭൂമിയിലുള്ള സകല ജാതികള്ക്കും ശാപവാക്യമാക്കിത്തീര്ക്കും.

6. Don't follow the god-fads of the day, taking up and worshiping these no-gods. Don't make me angry with your god-businesses, making and selling gods--a dangerous business!

7. യിരെമ്യാവു ഈ വാക്കുകളെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില്വെച്ചു പറയുന്നതു പുരോഹിതന്മാരും പ്രവാചകന്മാരും സകല ജനവും കേട്ടു.

7. 'You refused to listen to any of this, and now I am really angry. These god-making businesses of yours are your doom.'

8. എന്നാല് സകലജനത്തോടും പ്രസ്താവിപ്പാന് യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നതൊക്കെയും യിരെമ്യാവു പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു തീര്ന്നശേഷം, പുരോഹിതന്മാരും പ്രവാചകന്മാരും സകലജനവും അവനെ പിടിച്ചുനീ മരിക്കേണം നിശ്ചയം;

8. The verdict of GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies on all this: 'Because you have refused to listen to what I've said,

9. ഈ ആലയം ശീലോവിന്നു തുല്യമാകും, ഈ നഗരം നിവാസികള് ഇല്ലാതെ ശൂന്യമാകും എന്നു നീ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില് പ്രവചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതെന്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ജനമൊക്കെയും യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു കൂടി.

9. I'm stepping in. I'm sending for the armies out of the north headed by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, my servant in this, and I'm setting them on this land and people and even the surrounding countries. I'm devoting the whole works to total destruction--a horror to top all the horrors in history.

10. ഈ കാര്യം യെഹൂദാപ്രഭുക്കന്മാര് കേട്ടാറെ, അവര് രാജാവിന്റെ അരമനയില് നിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലേക്കു കയറിച്ചെന്നു, യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ പുതിയ പടിവാതിലിന്റെ പ്രവേശനത്തിങ്കല് ഇരുന്നു.

10. And I'll banish every sound of joy--singing, laughter, marriage festivities, genial workmen, candlelit suppers.

11. പുരോഹിതന്മാരും പ്രവാചകന്മാരും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരോടും സകലജനത്തോടുംഈ മനുഷ്യന് മരണയോഗ്യന് ; അവന് ഈ നഗരത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി പ്രവചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു നിങ്ങള് സ്വന്തചെവികൊണ്ടു കേട്ടുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. The whole landscape will be one vast wasteland. These countries will be in subjection to the king of Babylon for seventy years.

12. അതിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവു സകലപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരോടും സര്വ്വജനത്തോടും പറഞ്ഞതുനിങ്ങള് കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന വാക്കുകളൊക്കെയും ഈ ആലയത്തിന്നും ഈ നഗരത്തിന്നും വിരോധമായി പ്രവചിപ്പാന് യഹോവ എന്നെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. 'Once the seventy years is up, I'll punish the king of Babylon and the whole nation of Babylon for their sin. Then they'll be the wasteland.

13. ആകയാല് നിങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ നടപ്പും പ്രവൃത്തികളും നന്നാക്കി, നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു കേട്ടനുസരിപ്പിന് ; എന്നാല് യഹോവ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വിരോധമായി അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന അനര്ത്ഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അനുതപിക്കും.

13. Everything that I said I'd do to that country, I'll do--everything that's written in this book, everything Jeremiah preached against all the godless nations.

14. Many nations and great kings will make slaves of the Babylonians, paying them back for everything they've done to others. They won't get by with anything.' GOD's Decree.

15. This is a Message that the GOD of Israel gave me: 'Take this cup filled with the wine of my wrath that I'm handing to you. Make all the nations where I send you drink it down.

16. അപ്പോള് പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും സകലജനവും പുരോഹിതന്മാരോടും പ്രവാചകന്മാരോടുംഈ മനുഷ്യന് മരണയോഗ്യനല്ല; അവന് നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില് അല്ലോ നമ്മോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. They'll drink it and get drunk, staggering in delirium because of the killing that I'm going to unleash among them.'

17. അനന്തരം ദേശത്തിലെ മൂപ്പന്മാരില് ചിലര് എഴുന്നേറ്റു ജനത്തിന്റെ സര്വ്വസംഘത്തോടും പറഞ്ഞതു

17. I took the cup from GOD's hand and made them drink it, all the nations to which he sent me:

18. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു മോരഷ്ട്യനായ മീഖായാവു സകലയെഹൂദാജനത്തോടും പ്രവചിച്ചുസീയോനേ വയല് പോലെ ഉഴുതുകളയും; യെരൂശലേം കലക്കുന്നായും ഈ ആലയമുള്ള പര്വ്വതം വനാന്തരഗിരികളായും തീരും എന്നിങ്ങനെ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. Jerusalem and the towns of Judah, along with their kings and leaders, turning them into a vast wasteland, a horror to look at, a cussword--which, in fact, they now are;

19. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ഹിസ്കീയാവും സര്വ്വയെഹൂദയും അവനെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞുവോ? അവന് യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു, യഹോവയോടു ക്ഷമ യാചിക്കയും താന് അവര്ക്കും വരുത്തുമെന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്ന അനര്ത്ഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു യഹോവ അനുതപിക്കയും ചെയ്തില്ലയോ? നാമോ നമ്മുടെ പ്രാണന്നു വലിയോരു അനര്ത്ഥം വരുത്തുവാന് പോകുന്നു.

19. Pharaoh king of Egypt with his attendants and leaders,

20. അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ കിര്യ്യത്ത്--യെയാരീമില്നിന്നുള്ള ശെമയ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ ഊരീയാവു എന്നൊരുത്തന് യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില് പ്രവചിച്ചു; അവന് യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ സകലവാക്കുകളെയുംപോലെ ഈ നഗരത്തിന്നും ഈ ദേശത്തിന്നും വിരോധമായി പ്രവചിച്ചു.

20. plus all his people and the melting pot of foreigners collected there; All the kings of Uz; All the kings of the Philistines from Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and what's left of Ashdod;

21. യെഹോയാക്കീംരാജാവു അവന്റെ സകലയുദ്ധവീരന്മാരും സകലപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും അവന്റെ വാക്കുകളെ കേട്ടപ്പോള്, രാജാവു അവനെ കൊന്നുകളവാന് വിചാരിച്ചു; ഊരീയാവു അതു കേട്ടു ഭയപ്പെട്ടു മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി.

21. Edom, Moab, and the Ammonites;

22. യെഹോയാക്കീംരാജാവു ചില ആളുകളെ, അഖ്ബോരിന്റെ മകനായ എല്നാഥാനെയും അവനോടുകൂടെ മറ്റു ചിലരെയും മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു അയച്ചു.

22. All the kings of Tyre, Sidon, and the coastlands across the sea;

23. അവര് ഊരീയാവെ മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു യെഹോയാക്കീംരാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവന് അവനെ വാള്കൊണ്ടു കൊന്നു അവന്റെ ശവത്തെ സാമാന്യജനത്തിന്റെ ശ്മശാനത്തില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

23. Dedan, Tema, Buz, and the nomads on the fringe of the desert;

24. All the kings of Arabia and the various Bedouin sheiks and chieftains wandering about in the desert;
