1. യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമേ, യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്ന വചനം കേള്പ്പിന് !

1. I wish I were out in the desert, in some travelers' lodge- then I could get away from my people and distance myself from them! 'Indeed they are all adulterers, a band of traitors is what they are.

2. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുജാതികളുടെ വഴി പഠിക്കരുതു; ആകാശത്തിലെ ലക്ഷണങ്ങള് കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിക്കരുതു; ജാതികള് അല്ലോ അവ കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിക്കുന്നതു.

2. They bend their tongues, their 'bow' of falsehood, and hold sway in the land, but not for truth. For they go from evil to evil, and me they do not know,' says ADONAI.

3. ജാതികളുടെ ചട്ടങ്ങള് മിത്ഥ്യാമൂര്ത്തിയെ സംബന്ധിക്കുന്നു; അതു ഒരുവന് കാട്ടില്നിന്നു വെട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്ന മരവും ആശാരി വാച്ചികൊണ്ടു ചെയ്ത പണിയും അത്രേ.

3. Everyone, be on guard against your neighbor, don't trust even a brother; for every brother is out to trick you, and every neighbor goes around gossiping.

4. അവര് അതിനെ വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നുംകൊണ്ടു അലങ്കരിക്കുന്നു; അതു ഇളകാതെയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവര് അതിനെ ആണിയും ചുറ്റികയുംകൊണ്ടു ഉറപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

4. Everyone deceives his neighbor, no one speaks the truth; they have taught their tongues to lie, they wear themselves out with sinning.

5. അവ വെള്ളരിത്തോട്ടത്തിലെ തൂണുപോലെയാകുന്നു; അവ സംസാരിക്കുന്നില്ല; അവേക്കു നടപ്പാന് വഹിയായ്കകൊണ്ടു അവയെ ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു പോകേണം; അവയെ ഭയപ്പെടരുതു; ഒരു ദോഷവും ചെയ്വാന് അവേക്കു കഴികയില്ല; ഗുണം ചെയ്വാനും അവേക്കു പ്രാപ്തിയില്ല.

5. 'You inhabit a world of deceit; deceitfully they refuse to know me,' says ADONAI.

6. യഹോവേ, നിന്നോടു തുല്യനായവന് ആരുമില്ല; നീ വലിയവനും നിന്റെ നാമം ബലത്തില് വലിയതും ആകുന്നു.

6. 'Therefore,' says ADONAI-[Tzva'ot], 'I will refine them and test them. What else can I do with the daughter of my people?

7. ജാതികളുടെ രാജാവേ, ആര് നിന്നെ ഭയപ്പെടാതെയിരിക്കും? അതു നിനക്കു യോഗ്യമല്ലോ; ജാതികളുടെ സകല ജ്ഞാനികളിലും അവരുടെ സകലരാജ്യങ്ങളിലും നിന്നോടു തുല്യനായവന് ആരും ഇല്ല.

7. Their tongues are sharpened arrows; with their mouths they speak deceit- they say nice words to their neighbors, while inwardly plotting against them.

8. അവര് ഒരുപോലെ മൃഗപ്രായരും ഭോഷന്മാരും ആകുന്നു; മിത്ഥ്യാമൂര്ത്തികളുടെ ഉപദേശമോ മരമുട്ടിയത്രേ.

8. Should I not punish them for these things?' asks ADONAI. 'Should I not take vengeance on such a nation?'

9. തര്ശീശില്നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു വന്ന വെള്ളിയും ഊഫാസില്നിന്നുള്ള പൊന്നും അടിച്ചുപരത്തുന്നു; അതു കൌശലപ്പണിക്കാരന്റെയും തട്ടാന്റെയും കൈപ്പണിതന്നേ; നീലവും രക്താംബരവും അവയുടെ ഉടുപ്പു; അവയൊക്കെയും കൌശലപ്പണിക്കാരുടെ പണി അത്രേ.

9. I weep and wail for the mountains and lament over the desert pastures, because they have been burned up; no one passes through; they no longer hear the sound of cattle; the birds and wild animals have fled, are gone.

10. യഹോവയോ സത്യദൈവം; അവന് ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവവും ശാശ്വതരാജാവും തന്നേ; അവന്റെ ക്രോധത്താല് ഭൂമി നടുങ്ങുന്നു; ജാതികള്ക്കു അവന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപം സഹിപ്പാന് കഴികയുമില്ല.

10. 'I will make Yerushalayim a heap of ruins, turn it into a lair for jackals, and make the cities of Y'hudah desolate, with no one living there.'

11. ആകാശത്തെയും ഭൂമിയെയും നിര്മ്മിക്കാത്ത ദേവന്മാരോ ഭൂമിയില്നിന്നും ആകാശത്തിന് കീഴില്നിന്നും നശിച്ചുപോകും എന്നിങ്ങനെ അവരോടു പറവിന് .

11. Who is wise enough to understand this? To whom has the mouth of ADONAI spoken, so that he can proclaim it? Why has the land perished and been laid waste like a desert, so that no one passes through?

12. ADONAI answers: 'Because they abandoned my [Torah], which I set before them, and neither listened to what I said nor lived accordingly,

13. but have lived by their own hearts' stubbornness and by the [ba'alim], as their ancestors taught them-

14. ഏതു മനുഷ്യനും മൃഗപ്രായനും പരിജ്ഞാനമില്ലാത്തവനും ആകുന്നു; തട്ടാന്മാരൊക്കെയും വിഗ്രഹംനിമിത്തം ലജ്ജിച്ചുപോകുന്നു; അവര് വാര്ത്തുണ്ടാക്കിയ വിഗ്രഹം വ്യാജമത്രേ; അവയില് ശ്വാസവുമില്ല.

14. therefore,' says ADONAI-[Tzva'ot], the God of Isra'el: 'I will feed this people bitter wormwood and give them poisonous water to drink.

15. അവ മായയും വ്യര്ത്ഥ പ്രവൃര്ത്തിയും തന്നേ; സന്ദര്ശനകാലത്തു അവ നശിച്ചുപോകും.

15. I will scatter them among nations that neither they nor their ancestors have known. I will send the sword after them until I have wiped them out.'

16. യാക്കോബിന്റെ ഔഹരിയായവന് അവയെപ്പോലെയല്ല; അന് സര്വ്വത്തെയും നിര്മ്മിച്ചവന് ; യിസ്രായേല് അവന്റെ അവകാശഗോത്രം; സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ എന്നാകുന്നു അവന്റെ നാമം.

16. Thus says ADONAI-[Tzva'ot]: 'Mark this, then summon the mourning women, so that they will come; send for those who are best [[at mourning]], so that they will come:

17. നിരോധത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്നവളേ, നിലത്തു നിന്നു നിന്റെ ഭാണ്ഡം എടുത്തുകൊള്ക.

17. 'Have them hurry and wail for us, so our eyes will be wet from crying, and our eyelids gush with tears.'

18. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് ഈ തവണ ദേശത്തിലെ നിവാസികളെ കവിണയില്വെച്ചെറിഞ്ഞുകളകയും അവര്ക്കും പറ്റുവാന്തക്കവണ്ണം അവരെ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

18. For the sound of wailing is heard from Tziyon: 'We are utterly ruined, we are completely ashamed, because we have left the land, and our homes have been torn down!''

19. എന്റെ പരിക്കുനിമിത്തം എനിക്കു അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം! എന്റെ മുറിവു വ്യസനകരമാകുന്നു; എങ്കിലും ഞാന് അതു എന്റെ ദീനം! ഞാന് അതു സഹിച്ചേ മതിയാവു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. You women, hear the word of ADONAI! Let your ears receive the words from his mouth. Teach your daughters how to wail, have each teach her friend how to lament:

20. എന്റെ കൂടാരം കവര്ച്ചയായ്പോയിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ കയറു ഒക്കെയും അറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ മക്കള് എന്നെ വിട്ടുപോയി; അവര് ഇല്ലാതായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇനി എന്റെ കൂടാരം അടിപ്പാനും തിരശ്ശീല നിവിര്ക്കുംവാനും ആരുമില്ല.

20. 'Death has come up through our windows, it has entered our palaces, it has cut down children in the streets and young people in the public places.'

21. ഇടയന്മാര് മൃഗപ്രായരായ്തീര്ന്നു; യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് കൃതാര്ത്ഥരായില്ല; അവരുടെ ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടം ഒക്കെയും ചിതറിപ്പോയി.

21. Say: 'Here is what ADONAI says: 'The corpses of people are scattered like dung in an open field, like sheaves left behind by the reaper with no one to gather them.''

22. കേട്ടോ, ഒരു ശ്രുതിഇതാ, യെഹൂദപട്ടണങ്ങളെ ശൂന്യവും കുറുക്കന്മാരുടെ പാര്പ്പിടവും ആക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അതു വടക്കുനിന്നു ഒരു മഹാകോലാഹലവുമായി വരുന്നു.

22. Here is what ADONAI says: 'The wise man should not boast of his wisdom, the powerful should not boast of his power, the wealthy should not boast of his wealth;

23. യഹോവേ, മനുഷ്യന്നു തന്റെ വഴിയും നടക്കുന്നവന്നു തന്റെ കാലടികളെ നേരെ ആക്കുന്നതും സ്വാധീനമല്ല എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു.

23. instead, let the boaster boast about this: that he understands and knows me- that I am ADONAI, practicing grace, justice and righteousness in the land; for in these things I take pleasure,' says ADONAI.

24. യഹോവേ, ഞാന് ഇല്ലാതെയായ്പോകാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ എന്നെ കോപത്തോടെയല്ല ന്യായത്തോടെയത്രേ ശിക്ഷിക്കേണമേ.

24. 'The days are coming,' says ADONAI, 'when I will punish all those who have been circumcised in their uncircumcision-

25. നിന്നെ അറിയാത്ത ജാതികളുടെമേലും നിന്റെ നാമം വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കാത്ത വംശങ്ങളുടെമേലും നിന്റെ ക്രോധം പകരേണമേ; അവര് യാക്കോബിനെ വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ; അവര് അവനെ വിഴുങ്ങി നശിപ്പിച്ചു അവന്റെ വാസസ്ഥലത്തെ ശൂന്യമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

25. Egypt, Y'hudah, Edom, the people of 'Amon and Mo'av, and all those living in the desert who cut the edges [[of their beard]]: 'For although all the [Goyim] are uncircumcised, all the house of Isra'el have uncircumcised hearts.'
