1. പാര്സിരാജാവായ കോരെശിന്റെ മൂന്നാം ആണ്ടില് ബേല്ത്ത് ശസ്സര് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ദാനീയേലിന്നു ഒരു കാര്യം വെളിപ്പെട്ടു; ആ കാര്യം സത്യവും മഹാകഷ്ടമുള്ളതും ആയിരുന്നു; അവന് ആ കാര്യം ചിന്തിച്ചു ദര്ശനത്തിന്നു ശ്രദ്ധവെച്ചു.

1. In the third year of king Cyrus of Persia, there was shewed unto Daniel (otherwise called Balthasar) a matter, yea a true matter, but it is yet along time unto it. He understood the matter well, and perceived what the vision was.

2. ആ കാലത്തു ദാനീയേല് എന്ന ഞാന് മൂന്നു ആഴ്ചവട്ടം മുഴുവനും ദുഃഖിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

2. At the same time, I Daniel mourned for the space of three weeks,

3. മൂന്നു ആഴ്ചവട്ടം മുഴവനും കഴിയുവോളം ഞാന് സ്വാദുഭോജനം ഭക്ഷിക്കയോ മാംസവും വീഞ്ഞും ആസ്വദിക്കയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല; എണ്ണ തേച്ചിട്ടുമില്ല.

3. so that I had no lust to eat bread: as for flesh and wine, there came none within my mouth: No, I did not once anoint myself, till the whole three weeks were out.

4. എന്നാല് ഒന്നാം മാസം ഇരുപത്തുനാലാം തിയ്യതി ഞാന് ഹിദ്ദേക്കല് എന്ന മഹാ നദീതീരത്തു ഇരിക്കയില് തലപൊക്കി നോക്കിപ്പോള്,

4. Upon the twenty fourth day of the first month, I was by the great flood called Tigris:

5. ശണവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചും അരെക്കു ഊഫാസ് തങ്കംകൊണ്ടുള്ള കച്ച കെട്ടിയും ഇരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു പുരുഷനെ കണ്ടു.

5. I lift up mine eyes, and looked: and behold, a man clothed in linen,(lining) whose loins were girded up with fine gold of Araby:

6. അവന്റെ ദേഹം ഗോമേദകംപോലെയും മുഖം മിന്നല് പ്രകാശംപോലെയും കണ്ണു തീപ്പന്തംപോലെയും ഭുജങ്ങളും കാലുകളും മിനുക്കിയ താമ്രത്തിന്റെ വര്ണ്ണംപോലെയും അവന്റെ വാക്കുകളുടെ ശബ്ദം ഒരു പുരുഷാരത്തിന്റെ ആരവംപോലെയും ആയിരുന്നു.

6. His body was like the Chrisolite stone, his face (to look upon) was like lightning, his eyes as the flame of fire, his arms and feet were like fair glistering metal, but the voice of his words was like the voice of a multitude.

7. ദാനീയേല് എന്ന ഞാന് മാത്രം ഈ ദര്ശനം കണ്ടു; എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ആളുകള് ദര്ശനം കണ്ടില്ല; എങ്കിലും ഒരു മഹാഭ്രമം അവര്ക്കും പിടിച്ചിട്ടു അവര് ഔടിയൊളിച്ചു.

7. I Daniel alone saw this vision, the men that were with me, saw it not: but a great fearfulness fell upon them, so that they fled away, and hid themselves.

8. അങ്ങനെ ഞാന് തനിച്ചു ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്നു ഈ മഹാദര്ശനം കണ്ടു; എന്നില് ഒട്ടും ബലം ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല; എന്റെ മുഖശോഭ ക്ഷയിച്ചുപോയി; എനിക്കു ഒട്ടും ബലം ഇല്ലാതെയും ആയി.

8. I was left there myself alone, and saw this great vision, so long till there remained no more strength within me: Yea I lost my colour clean, I wasted away, and my strength was gone.

9. എന്നാല് ഞാന് അവന്റെ വാക്കുകളുടെ ശബ്ദം കേട്ടു; അവന്റെ വാക്കുകളുടെ ശബ്ദം കേട്ടപ്പോള് ഞാന് ബോധംകെട്ടു നിലത്തു കവിണ്ണുവീണു.

9. Yet heard I the voice of his words: and as soon as I heard it, faintness came upon me, and I fell down flat to the ground upon my face.

10. എന്നാറെ ഒരു കൈ എന്നെ തൊട്ടു, എന്നെ മുഴങ്കാലും ഉള്ളങ്കയ്യും ഊന്നി വിറയലോടെ നിലക്കുമാറാക്കി.

10. And behold an hand touched me, which set me up upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands,

11. അവന് എന്നോടുഏറ്റവും പ്രിയപുരുഷനായ ദാനീയേലേ, ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറയുന്ന വചനങ്ങളെ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചു നിവിര്ന്നുനില്ക്ക; ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അവന് ഈ വാക്കു എന്നോടു സംസാരിച്ചപ്പോള് ഞാന് വിറെച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നിവിര്ന്നുനിന്നു.

11. saying unto me: O Daniel, thou well beloved man: take good heed of the words, that I shall say unto thee, and stand(stode) right up, for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had said these words, I stood up trembling.

12. അവന് എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതുദാനീയേലേ, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നീ തിരിച്ചറിയേണ്ടതിന്നും നിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നിന്നെത്തന്നേ താഴ്ത്തേണ്ടതിന്നും മനസ്സുവെച്ച ആദ്യദിവസംമുതല് നിന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ വാക്കു ഹേതുവായി തന്നേ ഞാന് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. Then said he unto me: fear not, Daniel: for why since the first day that thou set thine heart to understand, and didst chasten thyself before thy God: thy words have been heard. And I had come unto thee, when thou beganest to speak

13. പാര്സിരാജ്യത്തിന്റെ പ്രഭു ഇരുപത്തൊന്നു ദിവസം എന്നോടു എതിര്ത്തുനിന്നു; എങ്കിലും പ്രധാന പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരില് ഒരുത്തനായ മീഖായേല് എന്നെ സഹായിപ്പാന് വന്നുഅവനെ ഞാന് പാര്സിരാജാക്കന്മാരോടുകൂടെ അവിടെ വിട്ടേച്ചു,

13. had not the prince over the kingdom of the Perses withstand me twenty one days. But lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, him have I left by the king of Persia,

14. നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു ഭാവികാലത്തു സംഭവിപ്പാനുള്ളതു നിന്നെ ഗ്രഹിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഇപ്പോള് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ദര്ശനം ഇനിയും ബഹുകാലത്തേക്കുള്ളതാകുന്നു.

14. and am come to shew thee, what shall happen unto thy people in the latter days: For it will be long yet or the vision be fulfilled.

15. അവന് ഈ വാക്കുകളെ എന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുമ്പോള് ഞാന് മുഖം കുനിച്ചു ഊമനായ്തീര്ന്നു.

15. Now when he had spoken these words unto me, I cast(kest) down my head to the ground and held my tongue.

16. അപ്പോള് മനുഷ്യരോടു സദൃശനായ ഒരുത്തന് എന്റെ അധരങ്ങളെ തൊട്ടു; ഉടനെ ഞാന് വായ്തുറന്നു സംസാരിച്ചു; എന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിന്നവനോടുയജമാനനേ, ഈ ദര്ശനംനിമിത്തം എനിക്കു അതി വേദന പിടിപെട്ടു ശക്തിയില്ലാതായിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. Behold, there touched my lips one very like unto a man. Then opened I my mouth, and said unto him, that stood before me: O my lord, my joints are lowsed in the vision, and there is no more strength within me:

17. അടിയന്നു യജമാനനോടു സംസാരിപ്പാന് എങ്ങനെ കഴിയും? എനിക്കു പെട്ടെന്നു ശക്തിയില്ലാതായി ശ്വാസം ശേഷിച്ചിരിപ്പില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17. How may my lord's servant then talk with my lord? seeing there is no strength in me, so that I can not take my breath?

18. അപ്പോള് മനുഷ്യസാദൃശ്യത്തിലുള്ളവന് പിന്നെയും വന്നു എന്നെ തൊട്ടു ബലപ്പെടുത്തി

18. Upon this there touched me again, one much like a man, and comforted me,

19. ഏറ്റവും പ്രിയപുരുഷാ, ഭിയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നിനക്കു സമാധാനം! ബലപ്പെട്ടിരിക്ക, ബലപ്പെട്ടിരിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അവന് എന്നോടു സംസാരിച്ചപ്പോള് ഞാന് ബലപ്പെട്ടുയജമാനനേ, സംസാരിക്കേണമേ; നീ എന്നെ ബലപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. saying: O thou man so well beloved, fear not: be content, take a good heart unto thee, and be strong. So when he had spoken unto me, I recovered, and said: Speak on my lord, for thou hast refreshed me.

20. അതിന്നു അവന് എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഞാന് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തിനെന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവോ? ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള് പാര്സിപ്രഭുവിനോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്വാന് മടങ്ങിപ്പോകും; ഞാന് പുറപ്പെട്ട ശേഷമോ, യവന പ്രഭു വരും.

20. Then said he: knowest thou wherefore I am come unto thee? now will I go again to fight with the prince of the Perses: As soon as I go forth, lo, the prince of Greklande shall come.

21. എന്നാല് സത്യഗ്രന്ഥത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു ഞാന് നിന്നെ അറിയിക്കാംനിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രഭുവായ മീഖായേല് അല്ലാതെ ഈ കാര്യങ്ങളില് എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉറെച്ചുനിലക്കുന്നവന് ആരും ഇല്ല.

21. Nevertheless, I will shew thee the thing, that is fast noted in the scripture of truth. And as for all yonder matters, there is none that helpeth me in them, but Michael your prince.
