1. King Nebuchadnezzar built a gold statue, ninety feet high and nine feet thick. He set it up on the Dura plain in the province of Babylon.

2. നെബൂഖദ് നേസര്രാജാവു പ്രധാനദേശാധിപന്മാരും സ്ഥാനാപതിമാരും ദേശാധിപന്മാരും ന്യായാധിപന്മാരും, ഭണ്ഡാരവിചാരകന്മാരും മന്ത്രിമാരും നഗരാധിപന്മാരും സകലസംസ്ഥാനപാലകന്മാരും നെബൂഖദ്നേസര്രാജാവു നിര്ത്തിയ ബിംബത്തിന്റെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠെക്കു വന്നുകൂടുവാന് ആളയച്ചു.

2. He then ordered all the important leaders in the province, everybody who was anybody, to the dedication ceremony of the statue.

3. അങ്ങനെ പ്രധാനദേശാധിപന്മാരും സ്ഥാനാപതിമാരും ദേശാധിപന്മാരും ന്യായാധിപന്മാരും ഭണ്ഡാരവിചാരകന്മാരും മന്ത്രിമാരും നഗരാധിപന്മാരും സകലസംസ്ഥാനപാലകന്മാരും നെബൂഖദ്നേസര്രാജാവു നിര്ത്തിയ ബിംബത്തിന്റെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠെക്കു വന്നുകൂടി, നെബൂഖദ് നേസര് നിര്ത്തിയ ബിംബത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നിന്നു.

3. They all came for the dedication, all the important people, and took their places before the statue that Nebuchadnezzar had erected.

4. A herald then proclaimed in a loud voice: 'Attention, everyone! Every race, color, and creed, listen!

5. When you hear the band strike up--all the trumpets and trombones, the tubas and baritones, the drums and cymbals--fall to your knees and worship the gold statue that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up.

6. Anyone who does not kneel and worship shall be thrown immediately into a roaring furnace.'

7. അതുകൊണ്ടു സകലവംശങ്ങളും കാഹളം, കുഴല്, തംബുരു, കിന്നരം, വീണ മുതലായ സകലവിധ വാദ്യനാദവും കേട്ടപ്പോള് സകലവംശങ്ങളും ജാതികളും ഭാഷക്കാരും വീണു നെബൂഖദ് നേസര്രാജാവു നിര്ത്തിയ സ്വര്ണ്ണബിംബത്തെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

7. The band started to play, a huge band equipped with all the musical instruments of Babylon, and everyone--every race, color, and creed--fell to their knees and worshiped the gold statue that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

8. എന്നാല് ആ സമയത്തു ചില കല്ദയര് അടുത്തുവന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാരെ കുറ്റം ചുമത്തി.

8. Just then, some Babylonian fortunetellers stepped up and accused the Jews.

9. They said to King Nebuchadnezzar, 'Long live the king!

10. You gave strict orders, O king, that when the big band started playing, everyone had to fall to their knees and worship the gold statue,

11. ആരെങ്കിലും വീണു നമസ്കരിക്കാതെയിരുന്നാല് അവനെ എരിയുന്ന തീച്ചൂളയില് ഇട്ടുകളയുമെന്നും ഒരു തീര്പ്പു കല്പിച്ചുവല്ലോ.

11. and whoever did not go to their knees and worship it had to be pitched into a roaring furnace.

12. ബാബേല്സംസ്ഥാനത്തിലെ കാര്യാദികള്ക്കു മേല്വിചാരകന്മാരായി നിയമിച്ച ശദ്രക്, മേശക്, അബേദ്നെഗോ എന്ന ചില യെഹൂദന്മാരുണ്ടല്ലോഈ പുരുഷന്മാര് രാജാവിനെ കൂട്ടാക്കിയില്ല; അവര് തിരുമനസ്സിലെ ദേവന്മാരെ സേവിക്കയോ തിരുമനസ്സുകൊണ്ടു നിര്ത്തിയ സ്വര്ണ്ണ ബിംബത്തെ നമസ്കരിക്കയോ ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല.

12. Well, there are some Jews here--Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego--whom you have placed in high positions in the province of Babylon. These men are ignoring you, O king. They don't respect your gods and they won't worship the gold statue you set up.'

13. അപ്പോള് നെബൂഖദ്നേസര് ഉഗ്രകോപവും ക്രോധവും പൂണ്ടു ശദ്രക്കിനെയും മേശക്കിനെയും അബേദ്നെഗോവിനെയും കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു; ആ പുരുഷന്മാരെ രാജസന്നിധിയില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

13. Furious, King Nebuchadnezzar ordered Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to be brought in. When the men were brought in,

14. നെബൂഖദ് നേസര് അവരോടു കല്പിച്ചതുശദ്രക്കേ, മേശക്കേ, അബേദ്നെഗോവേ, നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ ദേവന്മാരെ സേവിക്കയോ ഞാന് നിര്ത്തിയ സ്വര്ണ്ണബിംബത്തെ നമസ്കരിക്കയോ ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല എന്നുള്ളതു നേര്തന്നേയോ?

14. Nebuchadnezzar asked, 'Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you don't respect my gods and refuse to worship the gold statue that I have set up?

15. I'm giving you a second chance--but from now on, when the big band strikes up you must go to your knees and worship the statue I have made. If you don't worship it, you will be pitched into a roaring furnace, no questions asked. Who is the god who can rescue you from my power?'

16. ശദ്രക്കും മേശക്കും അബേദ്നെഗോവും രാജാവിനോടുനെബൂഖദ്നേസരേ, ഈ കാര്യത്തില് ഉത്തരം പറവാന് ആവശ്യമില്ല.

16. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered King Nebuchadnezzar, 'Your threat means nothing to us.

19. Nebuchadnezzar, his face purple with anger, cut off Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace fired up seven times hotter than usual.

20. അവന് തന്റെ സൈന്യത്തിലെ മഹാബലവാന്മാരായ ചില പുരുഷന്മാരോടു ശദ്രക്കിനെയും മേശക്കിനെയും അബേദ്നെഗോവെയും ബന്ധിച്ചു എരിയുന്ന തീച്ചൂളയില് ഇട്ടുകളവാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

20. He ordered some strong men from the army to tie them up, hands and feet, and throw them into the roaring furnace.

21. അങ്ങനെ അവര് ആ പുരുഷന്മാരെ, അവരുടെ കാല്ചട്ട, കുപ്പായം, മേലാട മുതലായ വസ്ത്രങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ബന്ധിച്ചു എരിയുന്ന തീച്ചൂളയില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

21. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, bound hand and foot, fully dressed from head to toe, were pitched into the roaring fire.

22. രാജകല്പന കര്ശനമായിരിക്കകൊണ്ടും ചൂള അത്യന്തം ചൂടായിരിക്കകൊണ്ടും ശദ്രക്കിനെയും മേശക്കിനെയും അബേദ്നെഗോവെയും എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയ പുരുഷന്മാരെ അഗ്നിജ്വാല ദഹിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

22. Because the king was in such a hurry and the furnace was so hot, flames from the furnace killed the men who carried Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to it,

23. ശദ്രക്, മേശക്, അബേദ്നെഗോ എന്നീ മൂന്നു പുരുഷന്മാരോ ബന്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരായി എരിയുന്ന തീച്ചൂളയില് വീണു.

23. while the fire raged around Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

24. നെബൂഖദ്നേസര്രാജാവു ഭ്രമിച്ചു വേഗത്തില് എഴുന്നേറ്റു മന്ത്രിമാരോടുനാം മൂന്നു പുരുഷന്മാരെ അല്ലയോ ബന്ധിച്ചു തീയില് ഇട്ടതു ഇന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവര്സത്യം തന്നേ രാജാവേ എന്നു രാജാവിനോടു ഉണര്ത്തിച്ചു.

24. Suddenly King Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in alarm and said, 'Didn't we throw three men, bound hand and foot, into the fire?' 'That's right, O king,' they said.

25. അതിന്നു അവന് നാലു പുരുഷന്മാര് കെട്ടഴിഞ്ഞു തീയില് നടക്കുന്നതു ഞാന് കാണുന്നു; അവര്ക്കും ഒരു കേടും തട്ടീട്ടില്ല; നാലാമത്തവന്റെ രൂപം ഒരു ദൈവപുത്രനോടു ഒത്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

25. 'But look!' he said. 'I see four men, walking around freely in the fire, completely unharmed! And the fourth man looks like a son of the gods!'

26. നെബൂഖദ് നേസര് എരിയുന്ന തീച്ചൂളയുടെ വാതില്ക്കല് അടുത്തു ചെന്നു; അത്യുന്നതദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരായ ശദ്രക്കേ, മേശക്കേ, അബേദ് നെഗോവേ, പുറത്തുവരുവിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ ശദ്രക്കും മേശക്കും അബേദ്നെഗോവും തീയില്നിന്നു പുറത്തുവന്നു.

26. Nebuchadnezzar went to the door of the roaring furnace and called in, 'Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the High God, come out here!' Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego walked out of the fire.

27. പ്രധാനദേശാധിപതിമാരും സ്ഥാനാപതിമാരും ദേശാധിപതിമാരും രാജമന്ത്രിമാരും വന്നുകൂടി, ആ പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ ദേഹത്തിന്നു തീ പിടിക്കാതെയും അവരുടെ തലമുടി കരിയാതെയും കാല്ചട്ടെക്കു കേടു പറ്റാതെയും അവര്ക്കും തീയുടെ മണംപോലും തട്ടാതെയും ഇരുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

27. All the important people, the government leaders and king's counselors, gathered around to examine them and discovered that the fire hadn't so much as touched the three men--not a hair singed, not a scorch mark on their clothes, not even the smell of fire on them!

28. അപ്പോള് നെബൂഖദ് നേസര് കല്പിച്ചതുശദ്രക്കിന്റെയും മേശക്കിന്റെയും അബേദ്നെഗോവിന്റെയും ദൈവം വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടവന് ; തങ്കല് ആശ്രയിക്കയും സ്വന്തദൈവത്തെയല്ലാതെ വേറൊരു ദൈവത്തെയും സേവിക്കയോ നമസ്കരിക്കയോ ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം രാജകല്പനക്കുടെ മറുത്തു തങ്ങളുടെ ദേഹത്തെ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുക്കയും ചെയ്ത തന്റെ ദാസന്മാരെ അവന് സ്വദൂതനെ അയച്ചു വിടുവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

28. Nebuchadnezzar said, 'Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent his angel and rescued his servants who trusted in him! They ignored the king's orders and laid their bodies on the line rather than serve or worship any god but their own.

29. ഈ വിധത്തില് വിടുവിപ്പാന് കഴിയുന്ന മറ്റൊരു ദൈവവും ഇല്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു ഏതു ജാതിക്കാരിലും വംശക്കാരിലും ഭാഷക്കാരിലും ആരെങ്കിലും ശദ്രക്കിന്റെയും മേശക്കിന്റെയും അബേദ്നെഗോവിന്റെയും ദൈവത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി വല്ല തെറ്റും പറഞ്ഞാല് അവനെ കഷണംകഷണമായി ശകലിക്കയും അവന്റെ വീടു കുപ്പക്കുന്നാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുമെന്നു ഞാന് ഒരു വിധി കല്പിക്കുന്നു.

29. 'Therefore I issue this decree: Anyone anywhere, of any race, color, or creed, who says anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego will be ripped to pieces, limb from limb, and their houses torn down. There has never been a god who can pull off a rescue like this.'

30. പിന്നെ രാജാവു ശദ്രക്കിന്നും മേശക്കിന്നും അബേദ്നെഗോവിന്നും ബാബേല്സംസ്ഥാനത്തു സ്ഥാനമാനങ്ങള് കല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു

30. Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.
