1. കല്ദയ രാജ്യത്തിന്നു രാജാവായിത്തീര്ന്നവനും മേദ്യസന്തതിയില് ഉള്ള അഹശ്വേരോശിന്റെ മകനുമായ ദാര്യ്യാവേശിന്റെ ഒന്നാം ആണ്ടില്,

1. In the first year of Darius, the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans,

2. അവന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ ഒന്നാം ആണ്ടില് തന്നേ, ദാനീയേല് എന്ന ഞാന് യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ ശൂന്യാവസ്ഥ എഴുപതു സംവത്സരംകൊണ്ടു തീരും എന്നിങ്ങനെ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകന്നുണ്ടായ പ്രകാരം ഒരു കാലസംഖ്യ പുസ്തകങ്ങളില്നിന്നു ഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

2. in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood the number of the years by books, which had been a Word of Jehovah to Jeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.

3. അപ്പോള് ഞാന് ഉപവസിച്ചും രട്ടുടുത്തും വെണ്ണീരില് ഇരുന്നും കൊണ്ടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥനയോടും യാചനകളോടും കൂടെ അപേക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ദൈവമായ കര്ത്താവിങ്കലേക്കു മുഖം തിരിച്ചു.

3. And I set my face toward the Lord God, to seek by prayer and holy desires, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes.

4. എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു ഞാന് പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു ഏറ്റുപറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്തന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും തന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും നിയമവും ദയയും പരിപാലിക്കുന്നവനായി മഹാനും ഭയങ്കരനുമായ ദൈവമായ കര്ത്താവേ,

4. And I prayed to Jehovah my God, and made my confession, saying, O Lord, the great and awesome God, keeping the covenant and mercy of those who love Him, and to those who keep His commandments,

5. ഞങ്ങള് പാപം ചെയ്തു, വികടമായി നടന്നു, ദുഷ്ടത പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു; ഞങ്ങള് മത്സരിച്ചു നിന്റെ കല്പനകളും വിധികളും വിട്ടുമാറിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

5. we have sinned and have committed iniquity and have done evilly, and we have rebelled, even by departing from Your commandments and from Your judgments.

6. And we have not listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, our rulers, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

7. O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us the shame of our faces, as it is this day to the men of Judah, and to those living in Jerusalem, and to all Israel, who are near and who are afar through all the lands where You have driven them for their unfaithfulness which they have done against You.

8. കര്ത്താവേ, ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നോടു പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കയാല് ഞങ്ങളും ഞങ്ങളുടെ രാജാക്കന്മാരും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും പിതാക്കന്മാരും ലജ്ജിക്കേണ്ടതു തന്നേ.

8. O Lord, shame of face belongs to us, to our kings, to our rulers and to our fathers, because we have sinned against You.

9. ഞങ്ങുടെ ദൈവമായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ പക്കല് കരുണയും മോചനവും ഉണ്ടു; ഞങ്ങളോ അവനോടു മത്സരിച്ചു.

9. To the Lord our God belong mercies and pardons, for we have rebelled against Him.

10. We have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in His laws which he set before us by His servants the prophets.

11. യിസ്രായേലൊക്കെയും നിന്റെ വചനം കേട്ടനുസരിക്കാതെ വിട്ടുമാറി നിന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം ലംഘിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇങ്ങനെ ഞങ്ങള് അവനോടു പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കയാല് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാസനായ മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്ന ശാപവും ആണയും ഞങ്ങളുടെമേല് ചൊരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

11. Yea, all Israel has transgressed Your Law and turned aside that they might not obey Your voice. For this reason the curse has poured out on us, and the oath that is written in the Law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against Him.

12. And He has confirmed His Words which He spoke against us, and against our judges who judge us, by bringing on us a great evil. For under the whole heavens it has not been done as it has been done to Jerusalem.

13. മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ഈ അനര്ത്ഥം ഒക്കെയും വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്നിട്ടും ഞങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളുടെ അകൃത്യങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നിന്റെ സത്യത്താല് ബുദ്ധിപഠിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ കൃപെക്കായി യാചിച്ചില്ല.

13. As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this evil has come on us. Yet we did not make our prayer before Jehovah our God that we might turn from our perversities and understand Your truth.

14. അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ അനര്ത്ഥത്തിന്നായി ജാഗരിച്ചിരുന്നു അതു ഞങ്ങളുടെമേല് വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ താന് ചെയ്യുന്ന സകല പ്രവൃത്തികളിലും നീതിമാനാകുന്നു; ഞങ്ങളോ അവന്റെ വചനം കേട്ടനുസരിച്ചില്ല.

14. And Jehovah has looked on the evil and has made it come on us. For Jehovah our God is righteous in all His works which He does. For we did not obey His voice.

15. നിന്റെ ജനത്തെ ബലമുള്ള കൈകൊണ്ടു മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു, ഇന്നുള്ളതുപോലെ നിനക്കു ഒരു നാമം ഉണ്ടാക്കിയവനായി ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ കര്ത്താവേ, ഞങ്ങള് പാപം ചെയ്തു ദുഷ്ടത പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

15. And now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and made for Yourself a name, as it is this day; we have sinned; we have done evilly.

16. കര്ത്താവേ, നിന്റെ സര്വ്വനീതിക്കും ഒത്തവണ്ണം നിന്റെ കോപവും ക്രോധവും നിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധപര്വ്വതമായ യെരൂശലേം നഗരത്തില്നിന്നു നീങ്ങിപ്പോകുമാറാകട്ടെ; ഞങ്ങളുടെ പാപങ്ങള്നിമിത്തവും ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അകൃത്യങ്ങള്നിമിത്തവും യെരൂശലേമും നിന്റെ ജനവും ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ചുറ്റും ഉള്ള എല്ലാവര്ക്കും നിന്ദയായി തീര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

16. O Lord, I pray to You, according to all Your righteousness, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain. For because of our sins and of our fathers' iniquities, Jerusalem and Your people have become a reproach to all those around us.

17. ആകയാല് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമേ, അടിയന്റെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥനയും യാചനകളും കേട്ടു ശൂന്യമായിരിക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തിന്മേല് കര്ത്താവിന് നിമിത്തം തിരുമുഖം പ്രകാശിക്കുമാറാക്കേണമേ.

17. And now, hear, O our God, the prayer of Your servant and his holy desires, and cause Your face to shine on Your sanctuary that is desolate, for the sake of the Lord.

18. എന്റെ ദൈവമേ, ചെവി ചായിച്ചു കേള്ക്കേണമേ; കണ്ണു തുറന്നു ഞങ്ങളുടെ നാശങ്ങളെയും നിന്റെ നാമം വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന നഗരത്തെയും കടാക്ഷിക്കേണമേ; ഞങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളുടെ നീതിപ്രവൃത്തികളില് അല്ല, നിന്റെ മഹാകരുണയില് അത്രേ ആശ്രയിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ഞങ്ങളുടെ യാചനകളെ തിരുസന്നിധിയില് ബോധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

18. O my God, bow down Your ear and hear; open Your eyes and see our ruins and the city which is called by Your name. For we do not make our prayers fall before You on account of our righteousnesses, but because of Your great mercies.

19. കര്ത്താവേ, കേള്ക്കേണമേ; കര്ത്താവേ, ക്ഷമിക്കേണമേ; കര്ത്താവേ, ചെവിക്കൊണ്ടു പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കേണമേ; എന്റെ ദൈവമേ, നിന്നെത്തന്നെ ഔര്ത്തു തമാസിക്കരുതേ; നിന്റെ നാമം വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

19. O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, attend to us and work! Do not delay, for Your own sake, O my God. For Your name is called on Your city and on Your people.

20. ഇങ്ങനെ ഞാന് പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കയും എന്റെ പാപവും എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പാപവും ഏറ്റുപറകയും എന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധപര്വ്വതത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് അപേക്ഷ കഴിക്കയും ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള്,

20. And while I was speaking and praying and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and making my cry fall before Jehovah my God for the holy mountain of my God,

21. and while I was setting my prayer in order, then the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, touched me in my severe exhaustion about the time of the evening sacrifice.

22. And he enlightened me and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I have now come out to give you skill in understanding.

23. നീ ഏറ്റവും പ്രിയനാകയാല് നിന്റെ യാചനകളുടെ ആരംഭത്തിങ്കല് തന്നേ കല്പന പുറപ്പെട്ടു, നിന്നോടു അറിയിപ്പാന് ഞാന് വന്നുമിരിക്കുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു നീ കാര്യം ചിന്തിച്ചു ദര്ശനം ഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊള്ക.

23. At the beginning of your prayers the word came forth, and I have come to explain it. For you are greatly beloved. Then consider the matter and understand the vision:

24. അതിക്രമത്തെ തടസ്ഥം ചെയ്തു പാപങ്ങളെ മുദ്രയിടുവാനും അകൃത്യത്തിന്നു പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം ചെയ്തു നിത്യനീതി വരുത്തുവാനും ദര്ശനവും പ്രവചനവും മുദ്രയിടുവാനും അതിപരിശുദ്ധമായതിനെ അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്വാനും തക്കവണ്ണം നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നും വിശുദ്ധനഗരത്തിന്നും എഴുപതു ആഴ്ചവട്ടം നിയമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

24. Seventy weeks are decreed as to your people, and as to your holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make atonement for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy.

25. Know, then, and understand that from the going out of a word to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem, to Messiah the Prince, shall be seven weeks and sixty two weeks. The street shall be built again, and the wall, even in times of affliction.

27. And he shall confirm a covenant with the many for one week. And in the middle of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease. And on a corner of the altar will be abominations that desolate, even until the end. And that which was decreed shall pour out on the desolator.
