1. യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു എനിക്കു കാണിച്ചു തന്നതെന്തെന്നാല്പുല്ലു രണ്ടാമതു മുളെച്ചു തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് അവന് വിട്ടിലുകളെ നിര്മ്മിച്ചുഅതു രാജാവിന്റെ വക പുല്ലു അരിഞ്ഞ ശേഷം മുളെച്ച രണ്ടാമത്തെ പുല്ലു ആയിരുന്നു.

1. This is what Lord Yahweh showed me: there was a swarm of locusts when the second crop was sprouting, full-grown locusts, after the king's hay had been cut.

2. എന്നാല് അവ ദേശത്തിലെ സസ്യം തിന്നുതീര്ന്നപ്പോള് ഞാന് യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവേ, ക്ഷമിക്കേണമേ; യാക്കോബ് എങ്ങനെ നിവിര്ന്നുനിലക്കും? അവന് ചെറിയവനല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. When they had eaten all the grass in the land, I said, 'Lord Yahweh, forgive, I beg you. How can Jacob survive, being so small?'

3. യഹോവ അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു അനുതപിച്ചു; അതു സംഭവിക്കയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

3. Then Yahweh relented; 'It will not happen,' said Yahweh.

4. യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു എനിക്കു കാണിച്ചുതന്നതെന്തെന്നാല്യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു തീയാല് വ്യവഹരിപ്പാന് അതിനെ വിളിച്ചു; അതു വലിയ ആഴിയെ വറ്റിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞിട്ടു യഹോവയുടെ ഔഹരിയെയും തിന്നുകളവാന് ഭാവിച്ചു.

4. This is what Lord Yahweh showed me: Lord Yahweh summoning fire in punishment; it had devoured the great Abyss and was encroaching on the land,

5. അപ്പോള് ഞാന് യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവേ, മതിയാക്കേണമേ; യാക്കോബ് എങ്ങനെ നിവിര്ന്നുനിലക്കും? അവന് ചെറിയവനല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. when I said, 'Lord Yahweh, stop, I beg you. How can Jacob survive, being so small?'

6. യഹോവ അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു അനുതപിച്ചു; അതു സംഭവിക്കയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

6. Then Yahweh relented; 'This will not happen either,' said the Lord Yahweh.

7. അവന് എനിക്കു കാണിച്ചുതന്നതെന്തെന്നാല്കര്ത്താവു കയ്യില് തൂക്കുകട്ട പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു തൂക്കുകട്ട തൂക്കിയുണ്ടാക്കിയോരു മതിലിന്മേല് നിന്നു.

7. This is what he showed me: the Lord standing by a wall, with a plumb-line in his hand.

8. യഹോവ എന്നോടുആമോസേ, നീ എന്തു കാണുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു ഒരു തൂക്കുകട്ട എന്നു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു കര്ത്താവുഞാന് എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നടുവില് ഒരു തൂക്കുകട്ട പിടിക്കും; ഞാന് ഇനി അവരെ ശിക്ഷിക്കാതെ വിടുകയില്ല;

8. 'What do you see, Amos?' Yahweh asked me. 'A plumb-line,' I said. Then the Lord said, 'Look, I am going to put a plumb-line in among my people Israel; never again will I overlook their offences.

9. യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ പൂജാഗിരികള് പാഴും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരങ്ങള് ശൂന്യവുമായ്തീരും; ഞാന് യൊരോബെയാംഗൃഹത്തോടു വാളുമായി എതിര്ത്തുനിലക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

9. The high places of Isaac will be ruined and the sanctuaries of Israel laid waste, and, sword in hand, I will attack the House of Jeroboam.'

10. എന്നാല് ബേഥേലിലെ പുരോഹിതനായ അമസ്യാവു യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചുആമോസ് യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ മദ്ധ്യേ നിനക്കു വിരോധമായി കൂട്ടുകെട്ടുണ്ടാക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ വാക്കു ഒക്കെയും സഹിപ്പാന് ദേശത്തിന്നു കഴിവില്ല.

10. Amaziah the priest of Bethel then sent word to Jeroboam king of Israel as follows, 'Amos is plotting against you in the heart of the House of Israel; the country cannot tolerate his speeches.

11. യൊരോബെയാം വാള്കൊണ്ടു മരിക്കും; യിസ്രായേല് സ്വദേശം വിട്ടു പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു പോകേണ്ടിവരും എന്നിങ്ങനെ ആമോസ് പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

11. For this is what Amos says, 'Jeroboam is going to die by the sword, and Israel will go into captivity far from its native land.' '

12. എന്നാല് ആമോസിനോടു അമസ്യാവുഎടോ ദര്ശകാ, യെഹൂദാദേശത്തിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ക; അവിടെ പ്രവചിച്ചു അഹോവൃത്തി കഴിച്ചുകൊള്ക.

12. To Amos himself Amaziah said, 'Go away, seer, take yourself off to Judah, earn your living there, and there you can prophesy!

13. ബേഥേലിലോ ഇനി പ്രവചിക്കരുതു; അതു രാജാവിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരവും രാജധാനിയുമല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. But never again will you prophesy at Bethel, for this is a royal sanctuary, a national temple.'

14. അതിന്നു ആമോസ് അമസ്യാവോടുഞാന് പ്രവാചകനല്ല, പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യനുമല്ല, ഇടയനും കാട്ടത്തിപ്പഴം പെറുക്കുന്നവനും അത്രേ.

14. 'I am not a prophet,' Amos replied to Amaziah, 'nor do I belong to a prophetic brotherhood. I am merely a herdsman and dresser of sycamore-figs.

15. ഞാന് ആടുകളെ നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് യഹോവ എന്നെ പിടിച്ചുനീ ചെന്നു എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിനോടു പ്രവചിക്ക എന്നു യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

15. But Yahweh took me as I followed the flock, and Yahweh said to me, 'Go and prophesy to my people Israel.'

16. ആകയാല് നീ യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേള്ക്കയിസ്രായേലിനെക്കുറിച്ചു പ്രവചിക്കരുതു; യിസ്ഹാക്ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു നിന്റെ വചനം പൊഴിക്കരുതു എന്നു നീ പറയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

16. So now listen to what Yahweh says: 'You say: Do not prophesy against Israel, do not foretell doom on the House of Isaac!'

17. അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിന്റെ ഭാര്യ നഗരത്തില് വേശ്യയാകും; നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും വാള്കൊണ്ടു വീഴും; നിന്റെ ദേശം അളവു നൂല്കൊണ്ടു വിഭാഗിക്കപ്പെടും; നീയോ ഒരു അശുദ്ധദേശത്തുവെച്ചു മരിക്കും; യിസ്രായേല് സ്വദേശം വിട്ടു പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു പോകേണ്ടിവരും.

17. Very well, this is what Yahweh says, 'Your wife will become a prostitute in the streets, your sons and daughters will fall by the sword, your land will be parcelled out by measuring line, and you yourself will die on polluted soil and Israel will go into captivity far from its own land!' '
