1. ഇപ്പോള് പടക്കൂട്ടങ്ങളുടെ മകളേ, പടക്കൂട്ടമായി കൂടുക; അവന് നമ്മുടെ നേരെ വാടകോരുന്നു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ന്യായാധിപതിയെ അവര് വടികൊണ്ടു ചെകിട്ടത്തു അടിക്കുന്നു.

1. Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops; he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

2. നീയോ, ബേത്ത്ളേഹേം എഫ്രാത്തേ, നീ യെഹൂദാസഹസ്രങ്ങളില് ചെറുതായിരുന്നാലും യിസ്രായേലിന്നു അധിപതിയായിരിക്കേണ്ടുന്നവന് എനിക്കു നിന്നില്നിന്നു ഉത്ഭവിച്ചുവരും; അവന്റെ ഉത്ഭവം പണ്ടേയുള്ളതും പുരാതനമായതും തന്നേ.

2. (And thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall he come forth unto me [who is] to be Ruler in Israel: whose goings forth are from of old, from the days of eternity.)

3. അതുകൊണ്ടു പ്രസവിക്കാനുള്ളവള് പ്രസവിക്കുവോളം അവന് അവരെ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുക്കും; അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരില് ശേഷിപ്പുള്ളവര് യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിവരും.

3. Therefore will he give them up, until the time when she which travaileth shall have brought forth: and the residue of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

4. എന്നാല് അവന് നിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ ശക്തിയോടും തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിന്റെ മഹിമയോടുംകൂടെ മേയിക്കും; അവന് നിര്ഭയം വസിക്കും; അവന് അന്നു ഭൂമിയുടെ അറ്റങ്ങളോളം മഹാനാകുമല്ലോ.

4. And he shall stand and feed [his flock] in the strength of Jehovah, in the majesty of the name of Jehovah his God. And they shall abide; for now shall he be great even unto the ends of the earth.

5. അവന് സമാധാനമാകും; അശ്ശൂര് നമ്മുടെ ദേശത്തു വന്നു നമ്മുടെ അരമനകളില് ചവിട്ടുമ്പോള് നാം അവരുടെ നേരെ ഏഴു ഇടയന്മാരെയും എട്ടു മാനുഷപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെയും നിര്ത്തും.

5. And this [man] shall be Peace. When the Assyrian shall come into our land, and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight princes of men.

6. അവര് അശ്ശൂര്ദേശത്തെയും അതിന്റെ പ്രവശേനങ്ങളില്വെച്ചു നിമ്രോദ് ദേശത്തെയും വാള്കൊണ്ടു പാഴാക്കും; അശ്ശൂര് നമ്മുടെ ദേശത്തു വന്നു നമ്മുടെ അതിരുകളില് ചവിട്ടുമ്പോള് അവന് നമ്മെ അവരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വിടുവിക്കും.

6. And they shall waste the land of Asshur with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof; and he shall deliver [us] from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.

7. യാക്കോബില് ശേഷിപ്പുള്ളവര് പലജാതികളുടെയും ഇടയില് യഹോവയിങ്കല് നിന്നുള്ള മഞ്ഞുപോലെയും മനുഷ്യന്നായി താമസിക്കയോ മനുഷ്യപുത്രന്മാര്ക്കായി കാത്തിരിക്കയോ ചെയ്യാതെ പുല്ലിന്മേല് പെയ്യുന്ന മാരിപോലെയും ആകും.

7. And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples as dew from Jehovah, as showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, neither waiteth for the sons of men.

8. യാക്കോബില് ശേഷിപ്പുള്ളവര് ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയില്, അനേകവംശങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് തന്നേ, കാട്ടുമൃഗങ്ങളില് ഒരു സിംഹംപോലെയും ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടങ്ങളില് ഒരു ബാലസിംഹംപോലെയും ആകും; അതു അകത്തു കടന്നാല് ചവിട്ടി കടിച്ചുകീറിക്കളയും; വിടുവിപ്പാന് ആരും ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല.

8. And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and there is none to deliver.

9. നിന്റെ കൈ നിന്റെ വൈരികള്ക്കുമീതെ ഉയര്ന്നിരിക്കും; നിന്റെ സകലശത്രുക്കളും ഛേദിക്കപ്പെടും.

9. Thy hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.

10. അന്നാളില് ഞാന് നിന്റെ കുതിരകളെ നിന്റെ നടുവില്നിന്നു ഛേദിച്ചുകളയും നിന്റെ രഥങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

10. And it shall come to pass in that day, saith Jehovah, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots.

11. ഞാന് നിന്റെ ദേശത്തിലെ പട്ടണങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിക്കയും നിന്റെ കോട്ടകളെ ഒക്കെയും ഇടിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്യും.

11. And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and overthrow all thy strongholds.

12. ഞാന് ക്ഷുദ്രപ്രയോഗങ്ങളെ നിന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു ഛേദിച്ചുകളയും; ശകുനവാദികള് നിനക്കു ഇനി ഉണ്ടാകയുമില്ല.

12. And I will cut off sorceries out of thy hand; and thou shalt have no soothsayers.

13. ഞാന് വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെയും സ്തംഭപ്രതിഷ്ഠകളെയും നിന്റെ നടുവില്നിന്നു ഛേദിച്ചുകളയും; നീ ഇനി നിന്റെ കൈപ്പണിയെ നമസ്കരിക്കയുമില്ല.

13. Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy statues out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more bow down to the work of thy hands.

14. ഞാന് നിന്റെ അശേരാപ്രതിഷ്ഠകളെ നിന്റെ നടുവില്നിന്നു പറിച്ചുകളകയും നിന്റെ പട്ടണങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

14. And I will pluck up thine Asherahs out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy cities.

15. ഞാന് ജാതികളോടു അവര് കേട്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്തവണ്ണം കോപത്തോടും ക്രോധത്തോടും കൂടെ പ്രതികാരം ചെയ്യും.

15. And I will execute vengeance in anger and in fury upon the nations, such as they have not heard of.
