2. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു; എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള്നീ ഞങ്ങളെ ഏതിനാല് സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിക്കുന്നു. ഏശാവു യാക്കോബിന്റെ സഹോദരനല്ലയോ; എങ്കിലും ഞാന് യാക്കോബിനെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

2. I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacobs brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob;

4. Whereas Edom saith, We are beaten down, but we will return and build the waste places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down: and men shall call them The border of wickedness, and The people against whom the LORD hath indignation for ever.

5. നിങ്ങള് സ്വന്ത കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു അതു കാണുകയും യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ അതിരിന്നു അപ്പുറത്തോളം വലിയവന് എന്നു പറകയും ചെയ്യും.

5. And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The LORD be magnified beyond the border of Israel.

6. മകന് അപ്പനെയും ദാസന് യജമാനനെയും ബഹുമാനിക്കേണ്ടതല്ലോ. ഞാന് അപ്പന് എങ്കില് എന്നോടുള്ള ബഹുമാനം എവിടെ? ഞാന് യജമാനന് എങ്കില് എന്നോടുള്ള ഭക്തി എവിടെ എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ, അവന്റെ നാമത്തെ തുച്ഛീകരിക്കുന്ന പുരോഹിതന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങളോടു ചോദിക്കുന്നു; അതിന്നു നിങ്ങള്ഏതിനാല് ഞങ്ങള് നിന്റെ നാമത്തെ തുച്ഛീകരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിക്കുന്നു.

6. A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?

7. Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar. And ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD is contemptible.

8. നിങ്ങള് കണ്ണു പൊട്ടിയതിനെ യാഗം കഴിപ്പാന് കൊണ്ടുവന്നാല് അതു ദോഷമല്ല; നിങ്ങള് മുടന്തും ദീനവുമുള്ളതിനെ അര്പ്പിച്ചാല് അതും ദോഷമല്ല; അതിനെ നിന്റെ ദേശാധിപതിക്കു കാഴ്ച വെക്കുക; അവന് പ്രസാദിക്കുമോ? നിന്നോടു കൃപ തോന്നുമോ? എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

8. And when ye offer the blind for sacrifice, it is no evil! and when ye offer the lame and sick, it is no evil! Present it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee? or will he accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.

9. ആകയാല് ദൈവം നമ്മോടു കൃപകാണിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അവനെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് . നിങ്ങള് ഇതൊക്കെയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു കൃപ തോന്നുമോ എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

9. And now, I pray you, entreat the favour of God, that he may be gracious unto us: this hath been by your means: will he accept any of your persons? saith the LORD of hosts.

10. നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേല് വെറുതെ തീ കത്തിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങളില് ആരെങ്കിലും വാതില് അടെച്ചുകളഞ്ഞാല് കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു; എനിക്കു നിങ്ങളില് പ്രസാദമില്ല എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു; നിങ്ങളുടെ കയ്യില് നിന്നു ഞാന് വഴിപാടു കൈക്കൊള്കയുമില്ല.

10. Oh that there were one among you that would shut the doors, that ye might not kindle {cf15i fire on} mine altar in vain! I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.

11. സൂര്യന്റെ ഉദയംമുതല് അസ്തമനംവരെ എന്റെ നാമം ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയില് വലുതാകുന്നു; എല്ലാടത്തും എന്റെ നാമത്തിന്നു ധൂപവും നിര്മ്മലമായ വഴിപാടും അര്പ്പിച്ചുവരുന്നു; എന്റെ നാമം ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയില് വലുതാകുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

11. For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name is great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense is offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name is great among the Gentiles, saith the LORD of hosts.

12. നിങ്ങളോയഹോവയുടെ മേശ മലിനമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ ഭോജനമായ അതിന്റെ അനുഭവം നിന്ദ്യം ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്നതിനാല് നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ നാമത്തെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു.

12. But ye profane it, in that ye say, The table of the LORD is polluted, and the fruit thereof, even his meat, is contemptible.

13. എന്തൊരു പ്രയാസം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങള് അതിനോടു ചീറുന്നു; എന്നാല് കടിച്ചുകീറിപ്പോയതിനെയും മുടന്തും ദീനവുമുള്ളതിനെയും നിങ്ങള് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അങ്ങനെ കാഴ്ചവെക്കുന്നു എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു; അതിനെ ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു അംഗീകരിക്കുമോ എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

13. Ye say also, Behold, what a weariness is it! and ye have snuffed at it, saith the LORD of hosts; and ye have brought that which was taken by violence, and the lame, and the sick; thus ye bring the offering: should I accept this of your hand? saith the LORD.

14. എന്നാല് തന്റെ ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടത്തില് ഒരു ആണ് ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കെ, കര്ത്താവിന്നു നേര്ന്നിട്ടു ഊനമുള്ളോരു തള്ളയെ യാഗംകഴിക്കുന്ന വഞ്ചകന് ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന് . ഞാന് മഹാരാജാവല്ലോ; എന്റെ നാമം ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയില് ഭയങ്കരമായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

14. But cursed be the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the Lord a blemished thing: for I am a great king, saith the LORD of hosts, and my name is terrible among the Gentiles.
