1. അനന്തരം ജനം യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടം തോന്നുമാറു പിറുപിറുത്തു; യഹോവ കേട്ടു അവന്റെ കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു; യഹോവയുടെ തീ അവരുടെ ഇടയില് കത്തി പാളയത്തിന്റെ അറ്റങ്ങളിലുള്ളവരെ ദഹിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

1. Now the people were saying evil against the Lord; and the Lord, hearing it, was angry and sent fire on them, burning the outer parts of the tent-circle.

2. ജനം മോശെയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചു; മോശെ യഹോവയോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചുഅപ്പോള് തീ കെട്ടുപോയി.

2. And the people made an outcry to Moses, and Moses made prayer to the Lord, and the fire was stopped.

3. യഹോവയുടെ തീ അവരുടെ ഇടയില് കത്തുകയാല് ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു തബേരാ എന്നു പേരായി.

3. So that place was named Taberah, because of the fire of the Lord which had been burning among them.

4. പിന്നെ അവരുടെ ഇടയിലുള്ള സമ്മിശ്രജാതി ദുരാഗ്രഹികളായി, യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളും വീണ്ടും കരഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടുഞങ്ങള്ക്കു തിന്മാന് ഇറച്ചി ആര് തരും?
1 കൊരിന്ത്യർ 10:6

4. And the mixed band of people who went with them were overcome by desire: and the children of Israel, weeping again, said, Who will give us flesh for our food?

5. ഞങ്ങള് മിസ്രയീമില് വെച്ചു വിലകൂടാതെ തിന്നിട്ടുള്ള മത്സ്യം, വെള്ളരിക്കാ, മത്തെങ്ങാ, ഉള്ളി, ചുവന്നുള്ളി, ചിറ്റുള്ളി എന്നിവ ഞങ്ങള് ഔര്ക്കുംന്നു.

5. Sweet is the memory of the fish we had in Egypt for nothing, and the fruit and green plants of every sort, sharp and pleasing to the taste:

6. ഇപ്പോഴോ ഞങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാണന് പൊരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ഈ മന്നാ അല്ലാതെ ഒന്നും കാണ്മാനില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. But now our soul is wasted away; there is nothing at all: we have nothing but this manna before our eyes.

7. മന്നയോ കൊത്തമ്പാലരിപോലെയും അതിന്റെ നിറം ഗുല്ഗുലുവിന്റേതുപോലെയും ആയിരുന്നു.

7. Now the manna was like a seed of grain, like small clear drops.

8. ജനം നടന്നു പെറുക്കി തിരികല്ലില് പൊടിച്ചിട്ടോ ഉരലില് ഇടിച്ചിട്ടോ കലത്തില് പുഴുങ്ങി അപ്പം ഉണ്ടാക്കും. അതിന്റെ രുചി എണ്ണചേര്ത്തുണ്ടാക്കിയ ദോശപോലെ ആയിരുന്നു.

8. The people went about taking it up from the earth, crushing it between stones or hammering it to powder, and boiling it in pots, and they made cakes of it: its taste was like the taste of cakes cooked with oil.

9. രാത്രി പാളയത്തില് മഞ്ഞു പൊഴിയുമ്പോള് മന്നയും പൊഴിയും.

9. When the dew came down on the tents at night, the manna came down with it.

10. ജനം കുടുംബംകുടുംബമായി ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ കൂടാരവാതില്ക്കല്വെച്ചു കരയുന്നതു മോശെ കേട്ടു; യഹോവയുടെ കോപം ഏറ്റവും ജ്വലിച്ചു; മോശെക്കും അനിഷ്ടമായി.

10. And at the sound of the people weeping, every man at his tent-door, the wrath of the Lord was great, and Moses was very angry.

11. അപ്പോള് മോശെ യഹോവയോടു പറഞ്ഞതുനീ അടിയനെ വലെച്ചതു എന്തു? നിനക്കു എന്നോടു കൃപ തോന്നാതെ ഈ സര്വ്വജനത്തിന്റെയും ഭാരം എന്റെമേല് വെച്ചതെന്തു?

11. And Moses said to the Lord, Why have you done me this evil? and why have I not grace in your eyes, that you have put on me the care of all this people?

12. മുലകുടിക്കുന്ന കുഞ്ഞിനെ ഒരു ധാത്രി എടുക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ഞാന് അവരെ നീ അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു സത്യം ചെയ്ത ദേശത്തേക്കു എന്റെ മാറത്തെടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു പോകേണമെന്നു എന്നോടു കല്പിപ്പാന് ഈ ജനത്തെ ഒക്കെയും ഞാന് ഗര്ഭംധരിച്ചുവോ? ഞാന് അവരെ പ്രസവിച്ചുവോ?

12. Am I the father of all this people? have I given them birth, that you say to me, Take them in your arms, like a child at the breast, to the land which you gave by an oath to their fathers?

13. ഈ ജനത്തിന്നു ഒക്കെയും കൊടുപ്പാന് എനിക്കു എവിടെനിന്നു ഇറച്ചി കിട്ടും? അവര് ഇതാഞങ്ങള്ക്കു തിന്മാന് ഇറച്ചി തരിക എന്നു എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു കരയുന്നു.

13. Where am I to get flesh to give to all this people? For they are weeping to me and saying, Give us flesh for our food.

14. ഏകനായി ഈ സര്വ്വജനത്തെയും വഹിപ്പാന് എന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു കഴിയുന്നതല്ല; അതു എനിക്കു അതിഭാരം ആകുന്നു.

14. I am not able by myself to take the weight of all this people, for it is more than my strength.

15. ഇങ്ങനെ എന്നോടു ചെയ്യുന്ന പക്ഷം ദയവിചാരിച്ചു എന്നെ കൊന്നുകളയേണമേ. എന്റെ അരിഷ്ടത ഞാന് കാണരുതേ.

15. If this is to be my fate, put me to death now in answer to my prayer, if I have grace in your eyes; and let me not see my shame.

16. അപ്പോള് യഹോവ മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ചതുയിസ്രായേല്മൂപ്പന്മാരില്വെച്ചു ജനത്തിന്നു പ്രമാണികളും മേല്വിചാരകന്മാരും എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്ന എഴുപതു പുരുഷന്മാരെ സമാഗമനക്കുടാരത്തിന്നരികെ നിന്നോടു കൂടെ നില്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു വരിക.

16. And the Lord said to Moses, Send for seventy of the responsible men of Israel, who are in your opinion men of weight and authority over the people; make them come to the Tent of meeting and be there with you.

17. അവിടെ ഞാന് ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യും; ഞാന് നിന്റെമേലുള്ള ആത്മാവില് കുറെ എടുത്തു അവരുടെ മേല് പകരും. നീ ഏകനായി വഹിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവര് നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഭാരം വഹിക്കും.

17. And I will come down and have talk with you there: and I will take some of the spirit which is on you and put it on them, and they will take part of the weight of the people off you, so that you do not have to take it by yourself.

18. എന്നാല് ജനത്തോടു നീ പറയേണ്ടതുനാളത്തേക്കു നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ ശുദ്ധീകരിപ്പിന് ; എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് ഇറച്ചി തിന്നും; ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു തിന്മാന് ഇറച്ചി ആര് തരും? മിസ്രയീമില് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു നന്നായിരുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറഞ്ഞു യഹോവ കേള്ക്കെ കരഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ; ആകയാല് യഹോവ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഇറച്ചി തരികയും നിങ്ങള് തിന്നുകയും ചെയ്യും.

18. And say to the people, Make yourselves clean before tomorrow and you will have flesh for your food: for in the ears of the Lord you have been weeping and saying, Who will give us flesh for food? for we were well off in Egypt: and so the Lord will give you flesh, and it will be your food;

19. ഒരു ദിവസമല്ല, രണ്ടു ദിവസമല്ല, അഞ്ചു ദിവസമല്ല, പത്തു ദിവസമല്ല, ഇരുപതു ദിവസവുമല്ല, ഒരു മാസം മുഴുവനും തന്നേ;

19. Not for one day only, or even for five or ten or twenty days;

20. അതു നിങ്ങളുടെ മൂക്കില്കൂടി പുറപ്പെട്ടു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഔക്കാനം വരുവോളം നിങ്ങള് തിന്നും; നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ഉള്ള യഹോവയെ നിങ്ങള് നിരസിക്കയുംഞങ്ങള് മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു എന്തിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ കരകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

20. But every day for a month, till you are tired of it, turning from it in disgust: because you have gone against the Lord who is with you, and have been weeping before him saying, Why did we come out of Egypt?

21. അപ്പോള് മോശെഎന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ള ജനം ആറുലക്ഷം കാലാള് ഉണ്ടു; ഒരു മാസം മുഴുവന് തിന്മാന് ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും ഇറച്ചി കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു നീ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

21. Then Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand men on foot; and you have said, I will give them flesh to be their food for a month.

22. അവര്ക്കും മതിയാകുംവണ്ണം ആടുകളെയും മാടുകളെയും അവര്ക്കുംവേണ്ടി അറുക്കുമോ? അവര്ക്കും മതിയാകുംവണ്ണം സമുദ്രത്തിലെ മത്സ്യത്തെ ഒക്കെയും അവര്ക്കും വേണ്ടി പിടിച്ചുകൂട്ടുമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

22. Are flocks and herds to be put to death for them? or are all the fish in the sea to be got together so that they may be full?

23. യഹോവ മോശെയോടുയഹോവയുടെ കൈ കുറുതായിപ്പോയോ? എന്റെ വചനം നിവൃത്തിയാകുമോ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു നീ ഇപ്പോള് കാണും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

23. And the Lord said to Moses, Has the Lord's hand become short? Now you will see if my word comes true for you or not.

24. അങ്ങനെ മോശെ ചെന്നു യഹോവയുടെ വചനങ്ങളെ ജനത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞു, ജനത്തിന്റെ മൂപ്പന്മാരില് എഴുപതു പുരുഷന്മാരെ കൂട്ടി കൂടാരത്തിന്റെ ചുറ്റിലും നിറുത്തി.

24. And Moses went out and gave the people the words of the Lord: and he took seventy of the responsible men of the people, placing them round the Tent.

25. എന്നാറെ യഹോവ ഒരു മേഘത്തില് ഇറങ്ങി അവനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു, അവന്മേലുള്ള ആത്മാവില് കുറെ എടുത്തു മൂപ്പന്മാരായ ആ എഴുപതു പുരുഷന്മാര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തു; ആത്മാവു അവരുടെ മേല് ആവസിച്ചപ്പോള് അവര് പ്രവചിച്ചു; പിന്നെ അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തില്ലതാനും.

25. Then the Lord came down in the cloud and had talk with him, and put on the seventy men some of the spirit which was on him: now when the spirit came to rest on them, they were like prophets, but only at that time.

26. എന്നാല് ആ പുരഷന്മാരില് രണ്ടു പേര് പാളയത്തില് തന്നേ താമസിച്ചിരുന്നു; ഒരുത്തന്നു എല്ദാദ് എന്നും മറ്റവന്നു മേദാദ് എന്നും പേര്. ആത്മാവു അവരുടെമേലും ആവസിച്ചു; അവരും പേരെഴുതിയവരില് ഉള്ളവര് ആയിരുന്നു എങ്കിലും കൂടാരത്തിലേക്കു ചെന്നിരുന്നില്ല; അവര് പാളയത്തില് വെച്ചു പ്രവചിച്ചു.

26. But two men were still in the tent-circle one of them named Eldad and the other Medad: and the spirit came to rest on them; they were among those who had been sent for, but they had not gone out to the Tent: and the prophet's power came on them in the tent-circle.

27. അപ്പോള് ഒരു ബാല്യക്കാരന് മോശെയുടെ അടുക്കല് ഔടിച്ചെന്നുഎല്ദാദും മേദാദും പാളയത്തില്വെച്ചു പ്രവചിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അറിയിച്ചു.

27. And a young man went running to Moses and said, Eldad and Medad are acting as prophets in the tent-circle.

28. എന്നാറെ നൂന്റെ മകനായി ബാല്യംമുതല് മോശെയുടെ ശുശ്രൂഷക്കാരനായിരുന്ന യോശുവഎന്റെ യജമാനനായ മോശെയേ, അവരെ വിരോധിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. Then Joshua, the son of Nun, who had been Moses' servant from the time when he was a child, said, My lord Moses, let them be stopped.

29. മോശെ അവനോടുഎന്നെ വിചാരിച്ചു നീ അസൂയപ്പെടുന്നുവോ? യഹോവയുടെ ജനം ഒക്കെയും പ്രവാചകന്മാരാകയും യഹോവ തന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ അവരുടെമേല് പകരുകയും ചെയ്തെങ്കില് കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
1 കൊരിന്ത്യർ 14:5

29. And Moses said to him, Are you moved by envy on my account? If only all the Lord's people were prophets, and the Lord might put his spirit on them!

30. പിന്നെ മോശെയും യിസ്രായേല്മൂപ്പന്മാരും പാളയത്തില് വന്നു ചേര്ന്നു.

30. Then Moses, with the responsible men of Israel, went back to the tent-circle.

31. അനന്തരം യഹോവ അയച്ച ഒരു കാറ്റു ഊതി കടലില്നിന്നു കാടയെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു പാളയത്തിന്റെ സമീപത്തു ഒരു ദിവസത്തെ വഴി ഇങ്ങോട്ടും ഒരു ദിവസത്തെ വഴി അങ്ങോട്ടും ഇങ്ങനെ പാളയത്തിന്റെ ചുറ്റിലും നിലത്തോടു ഏകദേശം രണ്ടു മുഴം അടുത്തു പറന്നുനിലക്കുമാറാക്കി.

31. Then the Lord sent a wind, driving little birds from the sea, so that they came down on the tents, and all round the tent-circle, about a day's journey on this side and on that, in masses about two cubits high over the face of the earth.

32. ജനം എഴുന്നേറ്റു അന്നു പകല് മുഴുവനും രാത്രി മുഴുവനും പിറ്റെന്നാള് മുഴുവനും കാടയെ പിടിച്ചു കൂട്ടി; നന്നാ കുറെച്ചു പിടിച്ചവന് പത്തു പറ പിടിച്ചുകൂട്ടി; അവര് അവയെ പാളയത്തിന്റെ ചുറ്റിലും ചിക്കി.

32. And all that day and all night and the day after, the people were taking up the birds; the smallest amount which anyone got was ten homers: and they put them out all round the tents.

33. എന്നാല് ഇറച്ചി അവരുടെ പല്ലിന്നിടയില് ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള് അതു ചവെച്ചിറക്കും മുമ്പെ തന്നേ യഹോവയുടെ കോപം ജനത്തിന്റെ നേരെ ജ്വലിച്ചു, യഹോവ ജനത്തെ ഒരു മഹാബാധകൊണ്ടു സംഹരിച്ചു.

33. But while the meat was still between their teeth, before it was tasted, the wrath of the Lord was moved against the people and he sent a great outburst of disease on them.

34. ദുരാഗ്രഹികളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തെ അവിടെ കുഴിച്ചിട്ടതുകൊണ്ടു ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു കിബ്രോത്ത്-ഹത്താവ എന്നു പേരായി.

34. So that place was named Kibroth-hattaavah; because there they put in the earth the bodies of the people who had given way to their desires.

35. കിബ്രോത്ത്-ഹത്താവ വിട്ടു ജനം ഹസേരോത്തിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നു ഹസേരോത്തില് പാര്ത്തു.

35. From Kibroth-hattaavah the people went on to Hazeroth; and there they put up their tents.
