1. ആ നാഴികയില് ശിഷ്യന്മാര് യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കെ വന്നു. സ്വര്ഗ്ഗരാജ്യത്തില് ഏറ്റവും വലിയവന് ആര് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

1. At that time the disciples came to Jesus and said, 'Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?'

2. അവന് ഒരു ശിശുവിനെ അടുക്കെ വിളിച്ചു അവരുടെ നടുവില് നിറുത്തി;

2. And He called a child to Himself and set him before them,

3. “നിങ്ങള് തിരിഞ്ഞു ശിശുക്കളെപ്പോലെ ആയ്വരുന്നില്ല എങ്കില് സ്വര്ഗ്ഗരാജ്യത്തില് കടക്കയില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് സത്യമായിട്ടു നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

3. and said, 'Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

4. ആകയാല് ഈ ശിശുവിനെപ്പോലെ തന്നെത്താന് താഴ്ത്തുന്നവന് സ്വര്ഗ്ഗരാജ്യത്തില് ഏറ്റവും വലിയവന് ആകുന്നു.

4. 'Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

5. ഇങ്ങിനെയുള്ള ശിശുവിനെ എന്റെ നാമത്തില് കൈകൊള്ളുന്നവന് എന്നെ കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നു.

5. 'And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me;

6. എന്നില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ഈ ചെറിയവരില് ഒരുത്തന്നു ആരെങ്കിലും ഇടര്ച്ച വരുത്തിയാലോ അവന്റെ കഴുത്തില് വലിയോരു തിരിക്കല്ലു കെട്ടി അവനെ സമുദ്രത്തിന്റെ ആഴത്തില് താഴ്ത്തിക്കളയുന്നതു അവന്നു നന്നു.

6. but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.

7. ഇടര്ച്ച ഹേതുവായി ലോകത്തിന്നു അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം; ഇടര്ച്ച വരുന്നതു ആവശ്യം തന്നേ; എങ്കിലും ഇടര്ച്ച വരുത്തുന്ന മനുഷ്യന്നു അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം.

7. 'Woe to the world because of [its] stumbling blocks! For it is inevitable that stumbling blocks come; but woe to that man through whom the stumbling block comes!

8. നിന്റെ കയ്യോ കാലോ നിനക്കു ഇടര്ച്ച ആയാല് അതിനെ വെട്ടി എറിഞ്ഞുകളക; രണ്ടു കയ്യും രണ്ടു കാലും ഉള്ളവനായി നിത്യാഗ്നിയില് വീഴുന്നതിനെക്കാള് അംഗഹീനനായിട്ടോ മുടന്തനായിട്ടോ ജീവനില് കടക്കുന്നതു നിനക്കു നന്നു.

8. 'If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter life crippled or lame, than to have two hands or two feet and be cast into the eternal fire.

9. നിന്റെ കണ്ണു നിനക്കു ഇടര്ച്ച ആയാല് അതിനെ ചൂന്നെടുത്തു എറിഞ്ഞുകളക; രണ്ടു കണ്ണുള്ളവനായി അഗ്നിനരകത്തില് വീഴുന്നതിനെക്കാള് ഒറ്റക്കണ്ണനായി ജീവനില് കടക്കുന്നതു നിനക്കു നന്നു.

9. 'If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it from you. It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than to have two eyes and be cast into the fiery hell.

10. ഈ ചെറിയവരില് ഒരുത്തനെ തുച്ഛീകരിക്കാതിരിപ്പാന് സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് .

10. 'See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father who is in heaven.

11. സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് അവരുടെ ദൂതന്മാര് സ്വര്ഗ്ഗസ്ഥനായ എന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ മുഖം എപ്പോഴും കാണുന്നു എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

11. ['For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost].

12. നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എന്തു തോന്നുന്നു? ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്നു നൂറു ആടു ഉണ്ടു എന്നിരിക്കട്ടെ; അവയില് ഒന്നു തെറ്റി ഉഴന്നുപോയാല് തൊണ്ണൂറ്റൊമ്പതിനെയും വിട്ടേച്ചു തെറ്റിപ്പോയതിനെ മലകളില് ചെന്നു തിരയുന്നില്ലയോ?

12. 'What do you think? If any man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go and search for the one that is straying?

13. അതിനെ കണ്ടെത്തിയാല് തെറ്റിപ്പോകാത്ത തൊണ്ണൂറ്റമ്പതിലും അധികം അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു സന്തോഷിക്കും എന്നു ഞാന് സത്യമായിട്ടു നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

13. 'If it turns out that he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine which have not gone astray.

14. അങ്ങനെതന്നേ ഈ ചെറിയവരില് ഒരുത്തന് നശിച്ചുപോകുന്നതു സ്വര്ഗ്ഗസ്ഥനായ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവിന്നു ഇഷ്ടമല്ല.

14. 'So it is not [the] will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones perish.

15. നിന്റെ സഹോദരന് നിന്നോടു പിഴെച്ചാല് നീ ചെന്നു നീയും അവനും മാത്രം ഉള്ളപ്പോള് കുറ്റം അവന്നു ബോധം വരുത്തുക; അവന് നിന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടാല് നീ സഹോദരനെ നേടി.

15. 'If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother.

16. കേള്ക്കാഞ്ഞാലോ രണ്ടു മൂന്നു സാക്ഷികളുടെ വായാല് സകല കാര്യവും ഉറപ്പാകേണ്ടതിന്നു ഒന്നു രണ്ടു പേരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു ചെല്ലുക.

16. 'But if he does not listen [to you], take one or two more with you, so that BY THE MOUTH OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES EVERY FACT MAY BE CONFIRMED.

17. അവരെ കൂട്ടാക്കാഞ്ഞാല് സഭയോടു അറിയിക്ക; സഭയെയും കൂട്ടാക്കാഞ്ഞാല് അവന് നിനക്കു പുറജാതിക്കാരനും ചുങ്കക്കാരനും എന്നപോലെ ഇരിക്കട്ടെ.

17. 'If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.

18. നിങ്ങള് ഭൂമിയില് കെട്ടുന്നതെല്ലാം സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തിലും കെട്ടപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കും; നിങ്ങള് ഭൂമിയില് അഴിക്കുന്നതെല്ലാം സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തിലും അഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കും എന്നു ഞാന് സത്യമായിട്ടു നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

18. 'Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.

19. ഭൂമിയില്വെച്ചു നിങ്ങളില് രണ്ടുപേര് യാചിക്കുന്ന ഏതു കാര്യത്തിലും ഐകമത്യപ്പെട്ടാല് അതു സ്വര്ഗ്ഗസ്ഥനായ എന്റെ പിതാവിങ്കല് നിന്നു അവര്ക്കും ലഭിക്കും;

19. 'Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.

20. രണ്ടോ മൂന്നോ പേര് എന്റെ നാമത്തില് കൂടിവരുന്നേടത്തൊക്കയും ഞാന് അവരുടെ നടുവില് ഉണ്ടു എന്നും ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.”

20. 'For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.'

21. അപ്പോള് പത്രൊസ് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുകര്ത്താവേ, സഹോദരന് എത്രവട്ടം എന്നോടു പിഴെച്ചാല് ഞാന് ക്ഷമിക്കേണം?

21. Then Peter came and said to Him, 'Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?'

22. ഏഴുവട്ടം മതിയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. യേശു അവനോടു“ഏഴുവട്ടമല്ല, എഴു എഴുപതു വട്ടം എന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. Jesus said to him, 'I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

23. “സ്വര്ഗ്ഗരാജ്യം തന്റെ ദാസന്മാരുമായി കണകൂ തീര്പ്പാന് ഭാവിക്കുന്ന ഒരു രാജാവിനോടു സദൃശം.

23. 'For this reason the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his slaves.

24. അവന് കണകൂ നോക്കിത്തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് പതിനായിരം താലന്തു കടമ്പെട്ട ഒരുത്തനെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടു വന്നു.

24. 'When he had begun to settle [them], one who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him.

25. അവന്നു വീട്ടുവാന് വകയില്ലായ്കയാല് അവന്റെ യജമാനന് അവനെയും ഭാര്യയെയും മക്കളെയും അവന്നുള്ളതൊക്കെയും വിറ്റു കടം തീര്പ്പാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

25. 'But since he did not have [the means] to repay, his lord commanded him to be sold, along with his wife and children and all that he had, and repayment to be made.

26. അതു കൊണ്ടു ആ ദാസന് വീണു അവനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചുയജമാനനേ എന്നോടു ക്ഷമ തോന്നേണമേ; ഞാന് സകലവും തന്നു തീര്ക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. 'So the slave fell [to the ground] and prostrated himself before him, saying, 'Have patience with me and I will repay you everything.'

27. അപ്പോള് ആ ദാസന്റെ യജമാനന് മനസ്സലിഞ്ഞു അവനെ വിട്ടയച്ചു കടവും ഇളെച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

27. 'And the lord of that slave felt compassion and released him and forgave him the debt.

28. ആ ദാസന് പോകുമ്പോള് തനിക്കു നൂറു വെള്ളിക്കാശു കടമ്പെട്ട ഒരു കൂട്ടുദാസനെ കണ്ടു തൊണ്ടെക്കു പിടിച്ചു ഞെക്കിനിന്റെ കടം തീര്ക്കുംക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. 'But that slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred denarii; and he seized him and [began] to choke [him], saying, 'Pay back what you owe.'

29. അവന്റെ കൂട്ടുദാസന് എന്നോടു ക്ഷമ തോന്നേണമേ; ഞാന് തന്നു തീര്ക്കാം എന്നു അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ച.

29. 'So his fellow slave fell [to the ground] and [began] to plead with him, saying, 'Have patience with me and I will repay you.'

30. എന്നാല് അവന് മനസ്സില്ലാതെ ഉടനെ ചെന്നു കടം വീട്ടുവോളം അവനെ തടവില് ആക്കിച്ചു.

30. 'But he was unwilling and went and threw him in prison until he should pay back what was owed.

31. ഈ സംഭവിച്ചതു അവന്റെ കൂട്ടുദാസന്മാര് കണ്ടിട്ടു വളരെ ദുഃഖിച്ചു, ചെന്നു സംഭവിച്ചതു ഒക്കെയും യജമാനനെ ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

31. 'So when his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were deeply grieved and came and reported to their lord all that had happened.

32. യജമാനന് അവനെ വിളിച്ചുദുഷ്ടദാസനേ, നീ എന്നോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കയാല് ഞാന് ആ കടം ഒക്കെയും ഇളെച്ചുതന്നുവല്ലോ.

32. 'Then summoning him, his lord said to him, 'You wicked slave, I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me.

33. എനിക്കു നിന്നോടു കരുണ തോന്നിയതുപോലെ നിനക്കും കൂട്ടുദാസനോടു കരുണ തോന്നേണ്ടതല്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു

33. 'Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, in the same way that I had mercy on you?'

34. അങ്ങനെ യജമാനന് കോപിച്ചു, അവന് കടമൊക്കെയും തീര്ക്കുംവോളം അവനെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നവരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു

34. 'And his lord, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers until he should repay all that was owed him.

35. നിങ്ങള് ഔരോരുത്തന് സഹോദരനോടു ഹൃദയപൂര്വം ക്ഷമിക്കാഞ്ഞാല് സ്വര്ഗ്ഗസ്ഥനായ എന്റെ പിതാവു അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ നിങ്ങളോടും ചെയ്യും.”

35. 'My heavenly Father will also do the same to you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart.'
