1. പൌലൊസ് ന്യായാധിപസംഘത്തെ ഉറ്റുനോക്കിസഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞാന് ഇന്നേ ദിവസത്തോളവും കേവലം നല്ല മനസ്സാക്ഷിയോടും കൂടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നടന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. Then Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men [and] brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.

2. അപ്പോള് മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ അനന്യാസ് അരികെ നിലക്കുന്നവരോടു അവന്റെ വായിക്കു അടിപ്പാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

2. And the prince of the priests, Ananias, commanded those that stood by him to smite him on the mouth.

3. പൌലൊസ് അവനോടുദൈവം നിന്നെ അടിക്കും വെള്ള തേച്ച ചുവരേ; നീ ന്യായപ്രമാണപ്രകാരം എന്നെ വിസ്തരിപ്പാന് ഇരിക്കയും ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി എന്നെ അടിപ്പാന് കല്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നുവോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. Then Paul said unto him, God shall smite thee, [thou] whitewashed wall, for dost thou sit to judge me after the law and command me to be smitten contrary to the law?

4. അരികെ നിലക്കുന്നവര്നീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മഹാപുരോഹിതനെ ശകാരിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

4. And those that stood by said, Dost thou revile God's high priest?

5. അതിന്നു പെലൊസ്സഹോദരന്മാരേ, മഹാപുരോഹിതന് എന്നു ഞാന് അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; “നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ അധിപതിയെ ദുഷിക്കരുതു എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. Then Paul said, I did not know, brethren, that he was the prince of the priests, for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.

6. എന്നാല് ന്യായാധിപസംഘത്തില് ഒരു പക്ഷം സദൂക്യരും ഒരുപക്ഷം പരീശന്മാരും ആകുന്നു എന്നു പൌലൊസ് അറിഞ്ഞുസഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞാന് ഒരു പരീശനും പരീശന്മാരുടെ മകനും ആകുന്നു; മരിച്ചവരുടെ പ്രത്യാശയെയും പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തെയും കുറിച്ചു ഞാന് വിസ്താരത്തിലായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men [and] brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee, and of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.

7. അവന് ഇതു പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള് പരീശന്മാരും സദൂക്യരും തമ്മില് ഇടഞ്ഞു സംഘം ഛിദ്രിച്ചു.

7. And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the multitude was divided.

8. പുനരുത്ഥാനം ഇല്ല ദൂതനും ആത്മാവും ഇല്ല എന്നു സദൂക്യര് പറയുന്നു; പരീശന്മാരോ രണ്ടും ഉണ്ടെന്നു പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നു.

8. For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess both.

9. അങ്ങനെ വലിയോരു നിലവിളി ഉണ്ടായി; പരീശപക്ഷത്തിലെ ശാസ്ത്രിമാരില് ചിലര് എഴുന്നേറ്റു വാദിച്ചുഈ മനുഷ്യനില് ഞങ്ങള് ഒരു കുറ്റവും കാണുന്നില്ല; ഒരാത്മാവോ ഒരു ദൂതനോ അവനോടു സംസാരിച്ചു എന്നു വന്നേക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. And there arose a great cry; and the scribes [that were] of the Pharisees' part arose and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man, but if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God.

10. അങ്ങനെ വലിയ ഇടച്ചല് ആയതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് പൌലൊസിനെ ചീന്തിക്കളയും എന്നു സഹസ്രാധിപന് പേടിച്ചു, പടയാളികള് ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു അവനെ അവരുടെ നടുവില് നിന്നു പിടിച്ചെടുത്തു കോട്ടയില് കൊണ്ടുപോകുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

10. And when there arose a great dissension, the tribunal, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and to take him by force from among them and to bring [him] into the fortress.

11. രാത്രിയില് കര്ത്താവു അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് നിന്നുധൈര്യമായിരിക്ക; നീ എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു യെരൂശലേമില് സാക്ഷീകരിച്ചതുപോലെ റോമിലും സാക്ഷീകരിക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

11. And the night following the Lord stood by him and said, Be of good cheer, Paul, for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou also bear witness at Rome.

12. നേരം വെളുത്തപ്പോള് ചില യെഹൂദന്മാര് തമ്മില് യോജിച്ചു പൌലൊസിനെ കൊന്നുകളയുവോളം ഒന്നും തിന്നുകയോ കുടിക്കയോ ചെയ്കയില്ല എന്നു ശപഥം ചെയ്തു.

12. And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together and they vowed under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul.

13. ഈ ശപഥം ചെയ്തവര് നാല്പതില് അധികംപേര് ആയിരുന്നു.

13. And they were more than forty who had made this conspiracy.

14. അവര് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെയും മൂപ്പന്മാരുടെയും അടുക്കല് ചെന്നുഞങ്ങള് പൌലൊസിനെ കൊന്നുകളയുവോളം ഒന്നും ആസ്വദിക്കയില്ല എന്നൊരു കഠിനശപഥം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

14. And they came to the princes of the priests and the elders and said, We have made a vow of anathema that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul.

15. ആകയാല് നിങ്ങള് അവന്റെ കാര്യം അധികം സൂക്ഷമത്തോടെ പരിശോധിക്കേണം എന്നുള്ള ഭാവത്തില് അവനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് താഴെ കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് ന്യായാധിപസംഘവുമായി സഹസ്രാധിപനോടു അപേക്ഷിപ്പിന് ; എന്നാല് അവന് സമീപിക്കും മുമ്പെ ഞങ്ങള് അവനെ ഒടുക്കിക്കളവാന് ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. Now therefore ye with the council signify to the tribunal that he bring him down unto you tomorrow, as though ye would enquire something more certain concerning him, and we, before he arrives, are ready to kill him.

16. ഈ പതിയിരിപ്പിനെക്കുറിച്ചു പൌലൊസിന്റെ പെങ്ങളുടെ മകന് കേട്ടിട്ടു ചെന്നു കോട്ടയില് കടന്നു പൌലൊസിനോടു അറിയിച്ചു.

16. And when Paul's sister's son heard of their ambush, he went and entered into the fortress and told Paul.

17. പൌലൊസ് ശതാധിപന്മാരില് ഒരുത്തനെ വിളിച്ചുഈ യൌവനക്കാരന്നു സഹസ്രാധിപനോടു ഒരു കാര്യം അറിയിപ്പാനുള്ളതിനാല് അവനെ അങ്ങോട്ടു കൊണ്ടു പോകേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17. Then Paul called one of the centurions unto [him] and said, Bring this young man unto the tribunal, for he has a certain thing to tell him.

18. അവന് അവനെ കൂട്ടി സഹസ്രാധിപന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുചെന്നുതടവുകാരനായ പൌലൊസ് എന്നെ വിളിച്ചു, നിന്നോടു ഒരു കാര്യം പറവാനുള്ള ഈ യൌവനക്കാരനെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് എന്നോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. So he took him and brought [him] to the tribunal and said, Paul the prisoner called me unto [him] and asked me to bring this young man unto thee, who has something to say unto thee.

19. സഹസ്രാധിപന് അവനെ കൈകൂ പിടിച്ചു മാറിനിന്നുഎന്നോടു ബോധിപ്പിപ്പാനുള്ളതു എന്തു എന്നു സ്വകാര്യമായി ചോദിച്ചു.

19. Then the tribunal took him by the hand and went [with him] aside privately and asked [him], What is that thou hast to tell me?

20. അതിന്നു അവന് യെഹൂദന്മാര് പൌലൊസിനെക്കുറിച്ചു അധികം സൂക്ഷമത്തോടെ വിസ്താരം കഴിക്കേണമെന്നുള്ള ഭാവത്തില് വന്നു നാളെ അവനെ ന്യായാധിപസംഘത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവരേണ്ടതിന്നു നിന്നോടു അപേക്ഷിപ്പാന് ഒത്തു കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

20. And he said, The Jews have agreed to ask thee that thou would bring down Paul tomorrow into the council, as though they would enquire something more certain of him.

21. നീ അവരെ വിശ്വസിച്ചു പോകരുതു; അവരില് നാല്പതില് അധികം പേര് അവനെ ഒടുക്കിക്കളയുവോളം ഒന്നും തിന്നുകയോ കുടിക്കയോ ചെയ്കയില്ല എന്നു ശപഥംചെയ്തു അവന്നായി പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ വാഗ്ദത്തം കിട്ടും എന്നു ആശിച്ചു അവര് ഇപ്പോള് ഒരുങ്ങി നിലക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. But do not believe them, for more than forty of them lie in wait [to ambush] him, who have vowed under a curse that they will neither eat nor drink until they have killed him, and now they are ready, looking for a promise from thee.

22. നീ ഇതു എന്നോടു അറിയിച്ചു എന്നു ആരോടും മിണ്ടരുതു എന്നു സഹസ്രാധിപന് കല്പിച്ചു യൌവനക്കാരനെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.

22. So the tribunal [then] let the young man depart and charged [him, See thou] tell no one that thou hast showed these things to me.

23. പിന്നെ അവന് ശതാധിപന്മാരില് രണ്ടുപേരെ വരുത്തിഈ രാത്രിയില് മൂന്നാം മണിനേരത്തു കൈസര്യകൂ പോകുവാന് ഇരുനൂറു കാലാളെയും എഴുപതു കുതിരച്ചേവകരെയും ഇരുനൂറു കുന്തക്കാരെയും ഒരുക്കുവിന് .

23. And he called unto [him] two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea and seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen, at the third hour of the night

24. പൌലൊസിനെ കയറ്റി ദേശാധിപതിയായ ഫേലിക്സിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ക്ഷേമത്തോട എത്തിപ്പാന് മൃഗവാഹനങ്ങളെയും സംഭരിപ്പിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

24. and provide [them] beasts that they may set Paul on and bring [him] safe unto Felix the governor.

25. താഴെ പറയുന്ന വിധത്തില് ഒരു എഴുത്തു എഴുതി

25. And he wrote a letter after this manner:

26. ക്ളൌദ്യൊസ് ലുസിയാസ് രാജശ്രീ ഫേലിക്സ് ദേശാധിപതിക്കു വന്ദനം.

26. Claudius Lysias unto the most excellent governor Felix [sends] greeting.

27. ഈ പുരുഷനെ യെഹൂദന്മാര് പിടിച്ചു കൊല്ലുവാന് ഭാവിച്ചപ്പോള് റോമപൌരന് എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞു ഞാന് പട്ടാളത്തോടും കൂടെ നേരിട്ടു ചെന്നു അവനെ വിടുവിച്ചു.

27. This man was taken of the Jews and should have been killed by them; then I came with an army and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman.

28. അവന്റെമേല് കുറ്റം ചുമത്തുന്ന സംഗതി ഗ്രഹിപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിച്ചിട്ടു അവരുടെ ന്യായാധിപസംഘത്തിലേക്കു അവനെ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു.

28. And when I desired to know the cause of why they accused him, I brought him forth into their council,

29. എന്നാല് അവരുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം സംബന്ധിച്ചുള്ള തര്ക്കങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു കുറ്റം ചുമത്തുന്നതല്ലാതെ മരണത്തിന്നോ ചങ്ങലെക്കോ യോഗ്യമായതു ഒന്നും ഇല്ല എന്നു കണ്ടു.

29. whom I found to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds.

30. അനന്തരം ഈ പുരുഷന്റെ നേരെ അവര് കൂട്ടുകെട്ടു ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു എന്നു തുമ്പുകിട്ടിയപ്പോള് ഞാന് തല്ക്ഷണം അവനെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ നേരെയുള്ള അന്യായം സന്നിധാനത്തില് ബോധിപ്പിപ്പാന് വാദികളോടു കല്പിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു; ശുഭമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

30. And when it was told me how the Jews lay [in] wait to [ambush] the man, I sent straightway to thee and gave commandment to his accusers also to say before thee what [they had] against him. Farewell.

31. പടയാളികള് കല്പനപ്രകാരം പൌലൊസിനെ കൂട്ടി രാത്രിയില് അന്തിപത്രിസോളം കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു,

31. Then the soldiers, as it was commanded them, took Paul and brought [him] by night to Antipatris.

32. പിറ്റെന്നാള് കുതിരച്ചേവകരെ അവനോടുകൂടെ അയച്ചു കോട്ടയിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപോന്നു.

32. On the next day they left the horsemen to go with him and returned to the fortress,

33. മറ്റവര് കൈസര്യയില് എത്തി ദേശാധിപതിക്കു എഴുത്തു കൊടുത്തു പൌലൊസിനെയും അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിര്ത്തി.

33. who, when they came to Caesarea and delivered the epistle to the governor, presented Paul also before him.

34. അവന് എഴുത്തു വായിച്ചിട്ടു ഏതു സംസ്ഥാനക്കാരന് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. കിലിക്യക്കാരന് എന്നു കേട്ടാറെ

34. And when the governor had read [the letter], he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that [he was] of Cilicia,

35. വാദികളും കൂടെ വന്നു ചേരുമ്പോള് നിന്നെ വിസ്തരിക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ ആസ്ഥാനത്തില് അവനെ കാത്തു കൊള്വാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

35. I will hear thee, said he, when thine accusers are also come. And he commanded him to be kept in Herod's judgement hall.:
