1. A man named Ananias and his wife, Sapphira, also sold some land.

2. ഭാര്യയുടെ അറിവോടെ വിലയില് കുറെ എടുത്തുവെച്ചു ഒരംശം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരുടെ കാല്കല് വെച്ചു.

2. He kept part of the money for himself. Sapphira knew he had kept it. He brought the rest of it and put it down at the apostles' feet.

3. അപ്പോള് പത്രൊസ്അനന്യാസേ, പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനോടു വ്യാജം കാണിപ്പാനും നിലത്തിന്റെ വിലയില് കുറെ എടുത്തുവെപ്പാനും സാത്താന് നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം കൈവശമാക്കിയതു എന്തു?

3. Then Peter said, 'Ananias, why did you let Satan fill your heart? He made you lie to the Holy Spirit. You have kept some of the money you received for the land.

4. അതു വിലക്കും മുമ്പെ നിന്റേതായിരുന്നില്ലെയോ? വിറ്റശേഷവും നിന്റെ കൈവശം അല്ലാഞ്ഞുവോ? ഈ കാര്യത്തിനു നീ മനസ്സുവെച്ചതു എന്തു? മനുഷ്യരോടല്ല ദൈവത്തോടത്രേ നീ വ്യാജം കാണിച്ചതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. Didn't the land belong to you before it was sold? After it was sold, you could have used the money as you wished. What made you think of doing such a thing? You haven't lied to just anyone. You've lied to God.'

5. ഈ വാക്കു കേട്ടിട്ടു അനന്യാസ് വീണു പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടു; ഇതു കേട്ടവര്ക്കും എല്ലാവര്ക്കും മഹാഭയം ഉണ്ടായി.

5. When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. All who heard what had happened were filled with fear.

6. ബാല്യക്കാര് എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവനെ ശീലപൊതിഞ്ഞു പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി കുഴിച്ചിട്ടു.

6. Some young men came and wrapped up his body. They carried him out and buried him.

7. About three hours later, the wife of Ananias came in. She didn't know what had happened.

8. Peter asked her, 'Tell me. Is this the price you and Ananias sold the land for?' 'Yes,' she said. 'That's the price.'

9. Peter asked her, 'How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! You can hear the steps of the men who buried your husband. They are at the door. They will carry you out also.'

10. At that very moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in. They saw that Sapphira was dead. So they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

11. സര്വസഭെക്കും ഇതു കേട്ടവര്ക്കും എല്ലാവര്ക്കും മഹാഭയം ഉണ്ടായി.

11. The whole church and all who heard about these things were filled with fear.

12. അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരുടെ കയ്യാല് ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില് പല അടയാളങ്ങളും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും നടന്നു; അവര് എല്ലാവരും ഏകമനസ്സോടെ ശലോമോന്റെ മണ്ഡപത്തില് കൂടിവരിക പതിവായിരുന്നു.

12. The apostles did many miraculous signs and wonders among the people. All the believers used to meet together at Solomon's Porch.

13. മറ്റുള്ളവരില് ആരും അവരോടു ചേരുവാന് തുനിഞ്ഞില്ല; ജനമോ അവരെ പുകഴ്ത്തിപ്പോന്നു.

13. No outsider dared to join them. But the people thought highly of them.

14. മേലക്കുമേല് അനവധി പുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളും കര്ത്താവില് വിശ്വസിച്ചു ചേര്ന്നുവന്നു.

14. More and more men and women believed in the Lord. They joined the other believers.

15. രോഗികളെ പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവന്നു, പത്രൊസ് കടന്നുപോകുമ്പോള് അവന്റെ നിഴല് എങ്കിലും അവരില് വല്ലവരുടെയുംമേല് വീഴേണ്ടതിന്നു വീഥികളില് വിരിപ്പിന്മേലും കിടക്കമേലും കിടത്തും.

15. So people brought those who were sick into the streets. They placed them on beds and mats. They hoped that at least Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he walked by.

16. അതുകൂടാതെ യെരൂശലേമിന്നു ചുറ്റുമുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളില്നിന്നു പുരുഷാരം വന്നുകൂടി രോഗികളെയും അശുദ്ധാത്മാക്കള് ബാധിച്ചവരെയും കൊണ്ടുവരികയും അവര് എല്ലാവരും സൌഖ്യം പ്രാപിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

16. Crowds even gathered from the towns around Jerusalem. They brought their sick. They also brought those who were suffering because of evil spirits. All of them were healed.

17. പിന്നെ മഹാപുരോഹിതനും സദൂക്യരുടെ മതക്കാരായ അവന്റെ പക്ഷക്കാരൊക്കെയും

17. The high priest and all his companions were Sadducees. They were very jealous of the apostles.

18. അസൂയ നിറഞ്ഞു എഴുന്നേറ്റു അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരെ പിടിച്ചു പൊതു തടവില് ആക്കി.

18. So they arrested them and put them in the public prison.

19. രാത്രിയിലോ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന് കാരാഗൃഹവാതില് തുറന്നു അവരെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടു വന്നു

19. But during the night an angel of the Lord came. He opened the prison doors and brought the apostles out.

20. നിങ്ങള് ദൈവാലയത്തില് ചെന്നു ഈ ജീവന്റെ വചനം എല്ലാം ജനത്തോടു പ്രസ്താവിപ്പിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. 'Go! Stand in the temple courtyard,' the angel said. 'Tell the people all about this new life.'

21. അവര് കേട്ടു പുലര്ച്ചെക്കു ദൈവാലയത്തില് ചെന്നു ഉപദേശിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; മഹാപുരോഹിതനും കൂടെയുള്ളവരും വന്നു ന്യായാധിപസംഘത്തെയും യിസ്രയേല്മക്കളുടെ മൂപ്പ്ന്മാരെയും എല്ലാം വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി, അവരെ കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് തടവിലേക്കു ആളയച്ചു.

21. Early the next day they did as they had been told. They entered the temple courtyard. There they began to teach the people. The high priest and his companions arrived. They called the Sanhedrin together. The Sanhedrin was a gathering of all the elders of Israel. They sent for the apostles who were in prison.

22. ചേവകര് ചെന്നപ്പോള് അവരെ കാരാഗൃഹത്തില് കാണാതെ മടങ്ങിവന്നുകാരാഗൃഹം നല്ല സൂക്ഷമത്തോടെ പൂട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നതും കാവല്ക്കാര് വാതില്ക്കല് നിലക്കുന്നതും ഞങ്ങള് കണ്ടു;

22. The officers arrived at the prison. But they didn't find the apostles there. So they went back and reported it.

23. തുറന്നപ്പോഴോ അകത്തു ആരെയും കണ്ടില്ല എന്നു അറിയിച്ചു.

23. 'We found the prison locked up tight,' they said. 'The guards were standing at the doors. But when we opened the doors, we didn't find anyone inside.'

24. ഈ വാക്കു കേട്ടിട്ടു ദൈവാലയത്തിലെ പടനായകനും മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ഇതു എന്തായിത്തീരും എന്നു അവരെക്കുറിച്ചു ചഞ്ചലിച്ചു.

24. When the captain of the temple guard and the chief priests heard this report, they were bewildered. They wondered what would happen next.

25. അപ്പോള് ഒരുത്തന് വന്നുനിങ്ങള് തടവില് ആക്കിയ പുരുഷന്മാര് ദൈവാലയത്തില് നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു ജനത്തെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

25. Then someone came and said, 'Look! The men you put in prison are standing in the temple courtyard. They are teaching the people.'

26. പടനായകന് ചേവകരുമായി ചെന്നു, ജനം കല്ലെറിയും എന്നു ഭയപ്പെടുകയാല് ബലാല്ക്കാരം ചെയ്യാതെ അവരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

26. So the captain went with his officers and brought the apostles back. But they didn't use force. They were afraid the people would kill them by throwing stones at them.

27. അങ്ങനെ അവരെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ന്യായാധിപസംഘത്തിന്മുമ്പാകെ നിറുത്തി; മഹാപുരോഹിതന് അവരോടു

27. They brought the apostles to be judged by the Sanhedrin. The high priest questioned them.

28. ഈ നാമത്തില് ഉപദേശിക്കരുതു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളോടു അമര്ച്ചയായി കല്പിച്ചുവല്ലോ; നിങ്ങളോ യെരൂശലേമിനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉപദേശംകൊണ്ടു നിറെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ രക്തം ഞങ്ങളുടെ മേല് വരുത്തുവാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു. എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. We gave you clear orders not to teach in Jesus' name,' he said. 'But you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching. You want to make us guilty of this man's death.'

29. അതിന്നു പത്രൊസും ശേഷം അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരുംമനുഷ്യരെക്കാള് ദൈവത്തെ അനുസരിക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

29. Peter and the other apostles replied, 'We must obey God instead of people!

30. നിങ്ങള് മരത്തില് തൂക്കിക്കൊന്ന യേശുവിനെ നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവം ഉയിര്പ്പിച്ചു;

30. You had Jesus killed by nailing him to a cross. But the God of our people raised Jesus from the dead.

31. യിസ്രായേലിന്നു മാനസാന്തരവും പാപമോചനവും നലകുവാന് ദൈവം അവനെ പ്രഭുവായും രക്ഷിതാവായും തന്റെ വലങ്കയ്യാല് ഉയര്ത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

31. Now Jesus is Prince and Savior. God has proved this by giving him a place of honor at his own right hand. He did it so that he could turn Israel away from their sins and forgive them.

32. ഈ വസ്തുതെക്കു ഞങ്ങളും ദൈവം തന്നെ അനുസരിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും നല്കിയ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവും സാക്ഷികള് ആകുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

32. We are witnesses of these things. And so is the Holy Spirit. God has given the Spirit to those who obey him.'

33. ഇതു കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവര് കോപപരവശരായി അവരെ ഒടുക്കിക്കളവാന് ഭാവിച്ചു.

33. When the leaders heard this, they became very angry. They wanted to put the apostles to death.

34. അപ്പോള് സര്വ്വ ജനത്തിനും ബഹുമാനമുള്ള ധര്മ്മോപദേഷ്ടാവായ ഗമാലീയേല് എന്നൊരു പരീശന് ന്യായധിപസംഘത്തില് എഴുന്നേറ്റു, അവരെ കുറെ നേരം പുറത്താക്കുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

34. But a Pharisee named Gamaliel stood up in the Sanhedrin. He was a teacher of the law. He was honored by all the people. He ordered the men to be taken outside for a little while.

35. പിന്നെ അവന് അവരോടുയിസ്രായേല് പുരുഷന്മാരെ, ഈ മനുഷ്യരുടെ കാര്യത്തില് നിങ്ങള് എന്തു ചെയ്യാന് പോകുന്നു എന്നു സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് .

35. Then he spoke to the Sanhedrin. 'Men of Israel,' he said, 'think carefully about what you plan to do to these men.

36. ഈ നാളുകള്ക്കു മുമ്പെ തദാസ് എന്നവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു താന് മഹാന് എന്നു നടിച്ചു; ഏകദേശം നാനൂറു പുരുഷന്മാര് അവനോടു ചേന്നുകൂടി; എങ്കിലും അവന് നശിക്കയും അവനെ അനുസരിച്ചവര് എല്ലാവരും ചിന്നി ഒന്നുമില്ലാതാകയും ചെയ്തു.

36. Some time ago Theudas appeared. He claimed he was really somebody. About 400 people followed him. But he was killed. All his followers were scattered. So they accomplished nothing.

37. അവന്റെ ശേഷം ഗലീലക്കാരനായ യൂദാ ചാര്ത്തലിന്റെ കാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു ജനത്തേ തന്റെ പക്ഷം ചേരുവാന് വശീകരിച്ചു; അവനും നശിച്ചു, അവനെ അനുസരിച്ചവര് ഒക്കെയും ചിതറിപ്പോയി.

37. After this, Judas from Galilee came along. This was in the days when the Romans made a list of all the people. Judas led a gang of men against the Romans. He too was killed. All his followers were scattered.

38. ആകയാല് ഈ മനുഷ്യരെ വിട്ടു ഒഴിഞ്ഞുകൊള്വിന് എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു; ഈ ആലോചനയോ പ്രവൃത്തിയോ മാനുഷം എന്നു വരികില് അതു നശിച്ചുപോകും;

38. So let me give you some advice. Leave these men alone! Let them go! If their plans and actions are only human, they will fail.

39. ദൈവികം എങ്കിലോ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അതു നശിപ്പിപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല; നിങ്ങള് ദൈവത്തോടു പോരാടുന്നു എന്നു വരരുതല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

39. But if their plans come from God, you won't be able to stop these men. You will only find yourselves fighting against God.'

40. അവര് അവനെ അനുസരിച്ചുഅപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരെ വരുത്തി അടിപ്പിച്ചു, ഇനി യേശുവിന്റെ നാമത്തില് സംസാരിക്കരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു അവരെ വിട്ടയച്ചു.

40. His speech won the leaders over. They called the apostles in and had them whipped. The leaders ordered them not to speak in Jesus' name. Then they let the apostles go.

41. തിരുനാമത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി അപമാനം സഹിപ്പാന് യോഗ്യരായി എണ്ണപ്പെടുകയാല് അവര് സന്തോഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ന്യായാധിപസംഘത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി.

41. The apostles were full of joy as they left the Sanhedrin. They considered it an honor to suffer shame for the name of Jesus.

42. പിന്നെ അവര് ദിനംപ്രതി ദൈവാലയത്തിലും വീടുതോറും വിടാതെ ഉപദേശിക്കയും യേശുവിനെ ക്രിസ്തു എന്നു സുവിശേഷിക്കയും ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

42. Day after day, they kept teaching in the temple courtyards and from house to house. They never stopped telling the good news that Jesus is the Christ.
