1. പ്രശംസിക്കുന്നതിനാല് പ്രയോജനമില്ല എങ്കിലും അതു ആവശ്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു. ഞാന് കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ദര്ശനങ്ങളെയും വെളിപ്പാടുകളെയും കുറിച്ചു പറവാന് പോകുന്നു.

1. As it is necessary for me to take glory to myself, though it is not a good thing, I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

2. ക്രിസ്തുവിലുള്ള ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ ഞാന് അറിയുന്നുഅവന് പതിന്നാലു സംവത്സരം മുമ്പെ മൂന്നാം സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തോളം എടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു; ശരീരത്തോടെയോ എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നില്ല, ശരീരം കൂടാതെയോ എന്നുമറിയുന്നില്ല; ദൈവം അറിയുന്നു.

2. I have knowledge of a man in Christ, fourteen years back (if he was in the body, or out of the body, I am not able to say, but God only), who was taken up to the third heaven.

3. ആ മനുഷ്യന് പരദീസയോളം എടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു; ശരീരത്തോടെയോ ശരീരം കൂടാതെയോ എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നില്ല; ദൈവം അറിയുന്നു.

3. And I have knowledge of such a man (if he was in the body, or out of the body, I am not able to say, but God only),

4. മനുഷ്യന്നു ഉച്ചരിപ്പാന് പാടില്ലാത്തതും പറഞ്ഞുകൂടാത്തതുമായ വാക്കുകളെ അവന് കേട്ടു എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു.

4. How he was taken up into Paradise, and words came to his ears which may not be said, and which man is not able to say.

5. അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു ഞാന് പ്രശംസിക്കും; എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചോ എന്റെ ബലഹീനതകളില് അല്ലാതെ ഞാന് പ്രശംസിക്കയില്ല.

5. On account of such a one I will have glory: for myself I will take no glory, but only in my feeble body.

6. ഞാന് പ്രശംസിപ്പാന് വിചാരിച്ചാലും മൂഢനാകയില്ല; സത്യമല്ലോ പറയുന്നതു; എങ്കിലും എന്നെ കാണുന്നതിനും എന്റെ വായില്നിന്നു കേള്ക്കുന്നതിനും മീതെ ആരും എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു നിരൂപിക്കരുതു എന്നുവെച്ചു ഞാന് അടങ്ങുന്നു.

6. For if I had a desire to take credit to myself, it would not be foolish, for I would be saying what is true: but I will not, for fear that I might seem to any man more than he sees me to be, or has word from me that I am.

7. വെളിപ്പാടുകളുടെ ആധിക്യത്താല് ഞാന് അതിയായി നിഗളിച്ചുപോകാതിരിപ്പാന് എനിക്കു ജഡത്തില് ഒരു ശൂലം തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് നിഗളിച്ചുപോകാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നെ കുത്തുവാന് സാത്താന്റെ ദൂതനെ തന്നേ.

7. And because the revelations were so very great, in order that I might not be overmuch lifted up, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, one sent from Satan to give me pain.

8. അതു എന്നെ വിട്ടു നീങ്ങേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് മൂന്നു വട്ടം കര്ത്താവിനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

8. And about this thing I made request to the Lord three times that it might be taken away from me.

9. അവന് എന്നോടുഎന്റെ കൃപ നിനക്കുമതി; എന്റെ ശക്തി ബലഹീനതയില് തികഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ആകയാല് ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ശക്തി എന്റെമേല് ആവസിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് അതിസന്തോഷത്തോടെ എന്റെ ബലഹീനതകളില് പ്രശംസിക്കും.

9. And he said to me, My grace is enough for you, for my power is made complete in what is feeble. Most gladly, then, will I take pride in my feeble body, so that the power of Christ may be on me.

10. അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് ക്രിസ്തുവിന്നു വേണ്ടി ബലഹീനത, കയ്യേറ്റം, ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടു, ഉപദ്രവം, ഞെരുക്കം എന്നിവ സഹിപ്പാന് ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നു; ബലഹീനനായിരിക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ ഞാന് ശക്തനാകുന്നു.

10. So I take pleasure in being feeble, in unkind words, in needs, in cruel attacks, in troubles, on account of Christ: for when I am feeble, then am I strong.

11. ഞാന് മൂഢനായിപ്പോയി; നിങ്ങള് എന്നെ നിര്ബ്ബന്ധിച്ചു; നിങ്ങള് എന്നെ ശ്ളാഘിക്കേണ്ടതായിരുന്നു; ഞാന് ഏതുമില്ല എങ്കിലും അതിശ്രേഷ്ഠതയുള്ള അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരില് ഒട്ടും കുറഞ്ഞവനല്ല.

11. I have been forced by you to become foolish, though it was right for my praise to have come from you: for in no way was I less than the chief of the Apostles, though I am nothing.

12. അപ്പൊസ്തലന്റെ ലക്ഷണങ്ങള് പൂര്ണ്ണ സഹിഷ്ണുതയിലും അടയാളങ്ങളാലും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളാലും വീര്യ്യപ്രവൃത്തികളാലും നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് വെളിപ്പെട്ടുവന്നുവല്ലോ.

12. Truly the signs of an Apostle were done among you in quiet strength, with wonders and acts of power.

13. ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഭാരമായിത്തീര്ന്നില്ല എന്നുള്ളതല്ലാതെ ശേഷം സഭകളെക്കാള് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഏതൊന്നില് കുറവു വന്നു? ഈ അന്യായം ക്ഷമിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് .

13. For what is there in which you were made less than the other churches, but in the one thing that I was not a trouble to you? Let me have forgiveness for this wrong.

14. ഈ മൂന്നാം പ്രാവശ്യം നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് വരുവാന് ഞാന് ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഭാരമായിത്തീരുകയുമില്ല; നിങ്ങള്ക്കുള്ളതിനെയല്ല നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ ഞാന് അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; മക്കള് അമ്മയപ്പന്മാര്ക്കല്ല അമ്മയപ്പന്മാര് മക്കള്ക്കായിട്ടല്ലോ ചരതിക്കേണ്ടതു.

14. This is now the third time that I am ready to come to you; and I will not be a trouble to you: my desire is for you, not for your property: for it is not the children's business to make store for their fathers, but the fathers for the children.

15. ഞാന് അതിസന്തോഷത്തോടെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ജീവന്നു വേണ്ടി ചെലവിടുകയും ചെലവായ്പോകയും ചെയ്യും. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ അധികമായി സ്നേഹിച്ചാല് നിങ്ങള് എന്നെ അല്പമായി സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നുവോ?

15. And I will gladly give all I have for your souls. If I have the more love for you, am I to be loved the less?

16. ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഭാരമായിത്തീര്ന്നില്ല എങ്കിലും ഉപായിയാകയാല് കൌശലംകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളെ കൈവശമാക്കി എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറയുമായിരിക്കും.

16. But let it be so, that I was not a trouble to you myself; but (someone may say) being false, I took you with deceit.

17. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചവരില് വല്ലവനെക്കൊണ്ടും നിങ്ങളോടു വല്ലതും വഞ്ചിച്ചെടുത്തുവോ?

17. Did I make a profit out of you by any of those whom I sent to you?

19. ഇത്രനേരം ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളോടു പ്രതിവാദിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തോന്നുന്നുവോ? ദൈവത്തിന് മുമ്പാകെ ക്രിസ്തുവില് ആകുന്നു ഞങ്ങള് സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു; പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, സകലവും നിങ്ങളുടെ ആത്മീകവര്ദ്ധനെക്കായിട്ടത്രേ.

19. It may seem to you that all this time we have been attempting to put ourselves in the right; but we are saying these things before God in Christ. For all things, dear brothers, are for your profit.

20. ഞാന് വരുമ്പോള് ഞാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കാത്തവിധത്തില് നിങ്ങളെ കാണുകയും നിങ്ങള് ഇച്ഛിക്കാത്ത വിധത്തില് എന്നെ കാണുകയും ചെയ്യുമോ എന്നും പിണക്കം, ഈര്ഷ്യ, ക്രോധം, ശാഠ്യം, ഏഷണി, കുശുകുശുപ്പു, നിഗളം, കലഹം എന്നിവ ഉണ്ടാകുമോ എന്നും

20. For I have a fear that, when I come, you may not be answering to my desire, and that I may not be answering to yours; that there may be fighting, hate, angry feeling, divisions, evil talk about others, secrets, thoughts of pride, outbursts against authority;

21. ഞാന് വീണ്ടും വരുമ്പോള് എന്റെ ദൈവം എന്നെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് താഴ്ത്തുവാനും പാപംചെയ്തിട്ടു തങ്ങള് പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ച അശുദ്ധി, ദുര്ന്നടപ്പു, ദുഷ്കാമം എന്നിവയെക്കുറിച്ചു മാനസാന്തരപ്പെടാത്ത പലരെയും ചൊല്ലി ഖേദിപ്പാനും സംഗതിവരുമോ എന്നും ഞാന് ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു.

21. And that when I come again, my God may put me to shame among you, and I may have grief for those who have done wrong before and have had no regret for their unclean ways, and for the evil desires of the flesh to which they have given way.
