1. യോശുവയുടെ മരണശേഷം യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള്ഞങ്ങളില് ആരാകുന്നു കനാന്യരോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്വാന് ആദ്യം പുറപ്പെടേണ്ടതു എന്നു യഹോവയോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

1. Aftir the deeth of Josue the sones of Israel counseliden the Lord, and seiden, Who schal stie bifor vs ayens Cananei, and schal be duik of the batel?

2. യെഹൂദാ പുറപ്പെടട്ടെ; ഞാന് ദേശം അവന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചു.

2. And the Lord seide, Judas schal stie; lo! Y haue youe the lond in to hise hondis.

3. യെഹൂദാ തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ശിമെയോനോടുഎന്റെ അവകാശദേശത്തു കനാന്യരോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്വാന് നീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ പോരേണം; നിന്റെ അവകാശദേശത്തു നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഞാനും വരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ശിമെയോന് അവനോടുകൂടെ പോയി.

3. And Juda seide to Symeon, his brother, Stie thou with me in my lot, and fiyte thou ayens Cananei, that Y go with thee in thi lot.

4. അങ്ങനെ യെഹൂദാ പുറപ്പെട്ടു; യഹോവ കനാന്യരെയും പെരിസ്യരെയും അവരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു; അവര് ബേസെക്കില്വെച്ചു അവരില് പതിനായിരംപോരെ സംഹരിച്ചു.

4. And Symeon yede with hym; and Judas stiede. And the Lord bitook Cananey and Feresei in to `the hondis of hem, and thei killiden in Besech ten thousynde of men.

5. ബേസെക്കില്വെച്ചു അവര് അദോനി-ബേസെക്കിനെ കണ്ടു, അവനോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു കനാന്യരെയും പെരിസ്യരെയും സംഹരിച്ചു.

5. And thei founden Adonybozech in Besech, and thei fouyten ayens hym, and smytiden Cananei, and Feresey.

8. Therfor the sones of Juda fouyten ayens Jerusalem, and token it, and smytiden bi the scharpnesse of swerd, and bitoken al the cytee to brennyng.

9. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം യെഹൂദാമക്കള് മലനാട്ടിലും തെക്കെ ദേശത്തിലും താഴ്വീതിയിലും പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന കനാന്യരോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്വാന് പോയി.

9. And aftirward thei yeden doun, and fouyten ayens Cananey, that dwellide in the hilli places, and at the south, in `feeldi places.

10. യെഹൂദാ ഹെബ്രോനില് പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന കനാന്യരുടെ നേരെയും ചെന്നു; ഹെബ്രോന്നു പണ്ടു കിര്യ്യത്ത്-അബ്ബാ എന്നു പേര്. അവര് ശേശായി, അഹിമാന് , തല്മായി എന്നവരെ സംഹരിച്ചു.

10. And Judas yede ayens Cananei, that dwellide in Ebron, whos name was bi eld tyme Cariatharbe; and Judas killide Sisay, and Achyman, and Tholmai.

11. അവിടെ നിന്നു അവര് ദെബീര് നിവാസികളുടെ നേരെ ചെന്നു; ദെബീരിന്നു പണ്ടു കിര്യ്യത്ത്--സേഫെര് എന്നു പേര്.

11. And fro thennus he yede forth, and yede to the dwelleris of Dabir, whos eld name was Cariathsepher, that is, the citee of lettris.

12. അപ്പോള് കാലേബ്കിര്യ്യത്ത്--സേഫെര് ജയിച്ചടക്കുന്നവന്നു ഞാന് എന്റെ മകള് അക്സയെ ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. യോസേഫിന്റെ ഗൃഹം ബേഥേലിലേക്കു കയറിച്ചെന്നു; യഹോവ അവരോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

22. Also the hows of Joseph stiede in to Bethel, and the Lord was with hem.

23. യോസേഫിന്റെ ഗൃഹം ബേഥേല് ഒറ്റുനോക്കുവാന് ആളയച്ചു; ആ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ ലൂസ് എന്നു പേരായിരുന്നു.

23. For whanne thei bisegiden the citee, that was clepid Lusa bifore,

24. പട്ടണത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവരുന്ന ഒരുത്തനെ ഒറ്റുകാര് കണ്ടു അവനോടുപട്ടണത്തില് കടപ്പാന് ഒരു വഴി കാണിച്ചു തരേണം; എന്നാല് ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നോടു ദയചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. thei sien a man goynge out of the citee, and thei seiden to hym, Schewe thou to vs the entrynge of the cytee, and we schulen do mercy with thee.

25. അവന് പട്ടണത്തില് കടപ്പാനുള്ള വഴി അവര്ക്കും കാണിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു; അവര് പട്ടണത്തെ വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാല് വെട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു, ആ മനുഷ്യനെയും അവന്റെ സകലകുടുംബത്തെയും വിട്ടയച്ചു;

25. And whanne he hadde schewid to hem, thei smytiden the citee bi scharpnes of swerd; sotheli thei delyueriden that man and al his kynrede.

27. മനശ്ശെ ബേത്ത്--ശെയാനിലും അതിന്റെ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും താനാക്കിലും അതിന്റെ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും ദോരിലും അതിന്റെ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും യിബ്ളെയാമിലും അതിന്റെ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും മെഗിദ്ദോവിലും അതിന്റെ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും പാര്ത്തിരുന്നവരെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞില്ല. കനാന്യര്ക്കും ആ ദേശത്തു തന്നേ പാര്പ്പാനുള്ള താല്പര്യം സാധിച്ചു.

27. Also Manasses dide not awei Bethsan and Thanael with her townes, and the dwelleris of Endor, and Geblaam and Magedo with her townes; and Cananei bigan to dwelle with hem.

28. എന്നാല് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ബലം കൂടിയപ്പോള് അവര് കന്യാന്യരെ മുഴുവനും നീക്കിക്കളയാതെ അവരെക്കൊണ്ടു ഊഴിയവേല ചെയ്യിച്ചു.

28. Sotheli after that Israel was coumfortid, he made hem tributaries, `ethir to paye tribute, and nolde do awey hem.

29. എഫ്രയീം ഗേസെരില് പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന കനാന്യരെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞില്ല; കനാന്യര് ഗേസെരില് അവരുടെ ഇടയില് പാര്ത്തു.

30. സെബൂലൂന് കിത്രോനിലും നഹലോലിലും പാര്ത്തിരുന്നവരെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞില്ല; കനാന്യര് ഊഴിയവേലക്കാരായിത്തീര്ന്നു അവരുടെ ഇടയില് പാര്ത്തു.

30. Zabulon dide not awey the dwelleris of Cethron, and of Naalon; but Cananei dwellide in the myddis of hym, and was maad tributarie to him.

31. ആശേര് അക്കോവിലും സീദോനിലും അഹ്ളാബിലും അക്സീബിലും ഹെല്ബയിലും അഫീക്കിലും രെഹോബിലും പാര്ത്തിരുന്നവരെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞില്ല.

31. Also Aser dide not awey the dwelleris of Acho, and of Sidon, of Alab, and of Azazib, and of Alba, and Aphech, and of Aloa, and of Pha, and of Roob; and he dwellide in the myddis of Cananey,

32. അവരെ നീക്കിക്കളയാതെ ആശേര്യ്യര് ദേശനിവാസികളായ കനാന്യരുടെ ഇടയില് പാര്ത്തു.

32. dwellere of that lond, and killide not hym.

33. നഫ്താലി ബേത്ത്--ശേമെശിലും ബേത്ത്--അനാത്തിലും പാര്ത്തിരുന്നവരെ നീക്കിക്കളയാതെ ദേശനിവാസികളായ കനാന്യരുടെ ഇടയില് പാര്ത്തു; എന്നാല് ബേത്ത്--ശേമെശിലെയും ബേത്ത്--അനാത്തിലെയും നിവാസികള് അവര്ക്കും ഊഴിയവേലക്കാരായിത്തിര്ന്നു.

33. Neptalym dide not awei the dwelleris of Bethsames, and of Bethanach; and he dwellide among Cananey, dwellere of the lond; and Bethsamytis and Bethanytis weren tributarie to hym.

34. അമോര്യ്യര് ദാന് മക്കളെ തിക്കിത്തള്ളി മലനാട്ടില് കയറ്റി; താഴ്വരയിലേക്കു ഇറങ്ങുവാന് അവരെ സമ്മതിച്ചതുമില്ല.

35. അങ്ങനെ അമേര്യ്യര്ക്കും ഹര്ഹേരെസിലും അയ്യാലോനിലും ശാല്ബീമിലും പാര്പ്പാനുള്ള താല്പര്യം സാധിച്ചു. എന്നാല് യോസേഫിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു ബലംകൂടിയപ്പോള് അവരെ ഊഴിയ വേലക്കാരാക്കിത്തീര്ത്തു.

35. and he dwellide in the hil of Hares, `which is interpretid, Witnessyng, in Hailon, and in Salabym. And the hond of the hows of Joseph was maad heuy, and he was maad tributarie to hym.
