1. ആഹാബ് മരിച്ചശേഷം മോവാബ്യര് യിസ്രായേലിനോടു മത്സരിച്ചു.

1. And the Moabites rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.

2. അഹസ്യാവു ശമര്യ്യയിലെ തന്റെ മാളികയുടെ കിളിവാതിലില്കൂടി വീണു ദീനംപിടിച്ചു; അവന് ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചുഈ ദീനം മാറി എനിക്കു സൌഖ്യം വരുമോ എന്നു എക്രോനിലെ ദേവനായ ബാല് സെബൂബിനോടു ചെന്നു ചോദിപ്പിന് എന്നു അവരോടു കല്പിച്ചു.

2. And Ohoziah fell thorow a lattice window out of an upper chamber that he had in Samaria, and fell sick. Then he sent messengers saying unto them: go and enquire of Beelzebub the God of Akaron, whether I shall recover of this disease.

3. എന്നാല് യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതന് തിശ്ബ്യനായ ഏലീയാവോടു കല്പിച്ചതുനീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ശമര്യ്യാരാജാവിന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരെ എതിരേറ്റുചെന്നു അവരോടുയിസ്രായേലില് ദൈവം ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞിട്ടോ നിങ്ങള് എക്രോനിലെ ദേവനായ ബാല് സെബൂബിനോടു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിപ്പാന് പോകുന്നതു?

3. But the Angel of the LORD spake to Eliah the Thesbite, up and go against the messengers of the king of Samaria and say unto them: Is it because there is no God in Israel, that ye go to ask thorow Beelzebub the God of Akaron.

4. ഇതുനിമിത്തം നീ കയറിയിരിക്കുന്ന കട്ടിലില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങാതെ നിശ്ചയമായി മരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറക. അങ്ങനെ ഏലീയാവു പോയി.

4. Therefore thus sayeth the LORD: thou shalt not come down from the bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt die. And Eliah departed.

5. ദൂതന്മാര് മടങ്ങിവന്നാറെ അവന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് മടങ്ങിവന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

5. And the messengers turned back again unto him. And he said unto them: why are ye thus come again?

6. അവര് അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഒരാള് ഞങ്ങളെ എതിരേറ്റുവന്നു ഞങ്ങളോടുനിങ്ങളെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നുയിസ്രായേലില് ദൈവം ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞിട്ടോ നീ എക്രോനിലെ ദേവനായ ബാല്സെബൂബിനോടു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിപ്പാന് അയക്കുന്നതു? ഇതുനിമിത്തം നീ കയറിയിരിക്കുന്ന കട്ടിലില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങാതെ നിശ്ചയമായി മരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു അവനോടു പറവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. And they said unto him there came a man against us and said unto us: go and turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him: Thus sayeth the LORD. Is it because there is no God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire thorow Beelzebub the God of Akaron? Therefore thou shalt not come down from the bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.

7. അവന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങളെ എതിരേറ്റുവന്നു ഈ വാക്കു നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞ ആളുടെ വേഷം എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

7. And he said to them: what manner a man was that which met you and told you these words?

8. അവന് രോമവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു അരെക്കു തോല്വാറു കെട്ടിയ ആളായിരുന്നു എന്നു അവര് അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് തിശ്ബ്യനായ ഏലീയാവു തന്നേ എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

8. And they said unto him: it was an hairy man and girded with a girdle of a skin about his loins. And he said unto them: it is Eliah the Thesbite.

9. പിന്നെ രാജാവു അമ്പതുപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിയായ ഒരുവനെയും അവന്റെ അമ്പതു ആളെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചു; അവന് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു; അവന് ഒരു മലമുകളില് ഇരിക്കയായിരുന്നു; അവന് അവനോടുദൈവപുരുഷാ, ഇറങ്ങിവരുവാന് രാജാവു കല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. Then the king sent unto him a captain over fifty with his fifty. And when the captain was come to him, behold: he sat on the top of an hill. And the captain said unto him: man of God, the king biddeth thee come down.

10. ഏലീയാവു അമ്പതുപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിയായവനോടുഞാന് ദൈവപുരുഷനെങ്കില് ആകശത്തുനിന്നു തീ ഇറങ്ങി നിന്നെയും നിന്റെ അമ്പതു ആളെയും ദഹിപ്പിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഉടനെ ആകാശത്തുനിന്നു തീ ഇറങ്ങി അവനെയും അവന്റെ അമ്പതു ആളെയും ദഹിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

10. And Eliah answered and said to the captain over the fifty: if I be a man of God, fire come down from heaven and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came fire down from heaven and devoured him and his fifty.

11. അവന് അമ്പതുപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിയായ മറ്റൊരുത്തനെയും അവന്റെ അമ്പതു ആളെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചു; അവനും അവനോടുദൈവപുരുഷാ, വേഗത്തില് ഇറങ്ങിവരുവാന് രാജാവു കല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. And the king went again and sent to him another captain over fifty with his fifty, which answered and said unto him: Oh man of God, thus sayeth the king: make haste and come down.

12. ഏലീയാവു അവനോടുഞാന് ദൈവപുരുഷനെങ്കില് ആകാശത്തുനിന്നു തീ ഇറങ്ങി നിന്നെയും നിന്റെ അമ്പതു ആളെയും ദഹിപ്പിക്കട്ടെ എന്നുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു; ഉടനെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ തീ ആകാശത്തുനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി അവനെയും അവന്റെ അമ്പതു ആളെയും ദഹിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

12. And Eliah answered and said unto them: if I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came fire down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty.

13. മൂന്നാമതും അവന് അമ്പതുപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിയായ ഒരുത്തനെയും അവന്റെ അമ്പതു ആളെയും അയച്ചു; ഈ മൂന്നാമത്തെ അമ്പതുപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിയായവന് ചെന്നു ഏലീയാവിന്റെ മുമ്പില് മുട്ടുകുത്തി അവനോടുദൈവപുരുഷനായുള്ളോവേ, എന്റെ പ്രാണനെയും നിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരായ ഈ അമ്പതു ആളുടെ പ്രാണനെയും ആദരിക്കേണമേ.

13. And the king sent again the third captain over fifty. And when the third captain over fifty was come up to him, he fell on his knees before Eliah and besought him and said unto him: Oh man of God, let my life and the life of these fifty thy servants be precious in thy sight.

14. ആകാശത്തുനിന്നു തീ ഇറങ്ങി അമ്പതുപേര്ക്കധിപതിമാരായ മുമ്പിലത്തെ രണ്ടുപേരെയും അവരുടെ അമ്പതീതു ആളെയും ദഹിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ; എന്നാല് എന്റെ പ്രാണനെ ആദരിക്കേണമേ എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

14. Behold there came fire down from heaven and burnt up the two fore captains over fifty with their fifties. But let my life now be precious in thy sight.

15. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതന് ഏലീയാവോടുഇവനോടുകൂടെ പോക; അവനെ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവനോടുകൂടെ രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു.

15. Then said the Angel of the LORD unto Eliah: go down with him, and be not afraid of him. And he went down with him unto the king.

16. അവനോടുയഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിപ്പാന് യിസ്രായേലില് ദൈവം ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞിട്ടോ നീ എക്രോനിലെ ദേവനായ ബാല്സെബൂബിനോടു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിപ്പാന് ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചതു? ഇതുനിമിത്തം നീ കയറിയിരിക്കുന്ന കട്ടിലില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങാതെ നിശ്ചയമായി മരിക്കും.

16. And he said unto the king, thus sayeth the LORD: for as much as thou sentest messengers to ask thorow Beelzebub the God of Akaron, as though there had been no God in Israel to ask thorow his word? therefore thou shalt not come off the bed on which thou art ascended, but shalt surely die.

17. ഏലീയാവു പറഞ്ഞ യഹോവയുടെ വചനപ്രകാരം തന്നേ അവന് മരിച്ചു പോയി; അവന്നു മകനില്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു അവന്നു പകരം യെഹോരാം യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോരാമിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടില് രാജാവായി.

17. And so he died according to the word of the LORD which Eliah spake, and Jehoram was made king in his stead, the second year of Jehoram son of Jehosaphat king of Juda, because he had no son.

18. അഹസ്യാവു ചെയ്ത മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങള് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

18. The rest of the deeds of Ohoziah which he did, are written in the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
