1. യോശീയാവു വാഴ്ച തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് അവന്നു എട്ടു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവന് മുപ്പത്തൊന്നു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമില് വാണു. അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു യെദീദാ എന്നു പേര്; അവള് ബൊസ്കത്ത് കാരനായ അദായാവിന്റെ മകള് ആയിരുന്നു.

1. A son of eight years [is] Josiah in his reigning, and thirty and one years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Jedidah daughter of Adaiah of Boskath,

2. അവന് യഹോവേക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു; തന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ വഴിയിലൊക്കെയും വലത്തോട്ടും ഇടത്തോട്ടും മാറാതെ നടന്നു.

2. and he doth that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah, and walketh in all the way of David his father, and hath not turned aside -- right or left.

3. യോശീയാരാജാവിന്റെ പതിനെട്ടാം ആണ്ടില് രാജാവു മെശുല്ലാമിന്റെ മകനായ അസല്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ ശാഫാന് എന്ന രായസക്കാരനെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലേക്കു അയച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

3. And it cometh to pass, in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, the king hath sent Shaphan son of Azaliah, son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of Jehovah, saying,

4. നീ മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ ഹില്ക്കീയാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുക. യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് പിരിഞ്ഞുവന്നതും വാതില്കാവല്ക്കാര് ജനത്തോടു പിരിച്ചെടുത്തതുമായ ദ്രവ്യം അവന് കണകൂനോക്കട്ടെ.

4. 'Go up unto Hilkiah the high priest, and he doth complete the silver that is brought into the house of Jehovah, that the keepers of the threshold have gathered from the people,

5. അവര് അതു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ വിചാരകരായി പണിനടത്തുന്നവരുടെ കയ്യില് കൊടുക്കട്ടെ; അവര് അതു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ അറ്റകുറ്റം തീര്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു

5. and they give it into the hand of the doers of the work, the overseers, in the house of Jehovah, and they give it to the doers of the work that [is] in the house of Jehovah, to strengthen the breach of the house,

6. അതില് പണി ചെയ്യുന്ന ആശാരികള്ക്കും ശില്പികള്ക്കും കല്പണിക്കാര്ക്കും ആലയത്തിന്റെ അറ്റകുറ്റപ്പണിക്കു മരവും ചെത്തിയ കല്ലും മേടിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും കൊടുക്കട്ടെ.

6. to artificers, and to builders, and [to repairers of] the wall, and to buy wood and hewn stones to strengthen the house;

7. എന്നാല് ദ്രവ്യം കയ്യേറ്റുവാങ്ങിയവരോടു കണകൂ ചോദിക്കേണ്ടാ; അവര് വിശ്വാസത്തിന്മേലല്ലോ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു.

7. only, the silver that is given into their hand is not reckoned with them, for in faithfulness they are dealing.

8. മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ ഹില്ക്കീയാവു രായസക്കാരനായ ശാഫാനോടുഞാന് ന്യായപ്രമാണപുസ്തകം യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് കണ്ടെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഹില്ക്കീയാവു ആ പുസ്തകം ശാഫാന്റെ കയ്യില് കൊടുത്തു; അവന് അതു വായിച്ചു.

8. And Hilkiah the high priest saith unto Shaphan the scribe, 'A book of the law I have found in the house of Jehovah;' and Hilkiah giveth the book unto Shaphan, and he readeth it.

9. രായസക്കാരനായ ശാഫാന് രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു രാജാവിനോടുആലയത്തില് കണ്ട ദ്രവ്യം അടിയങ്ങള് പെട്ടിയൊഴിച്ചെടുത്തു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് വിചാരകരായി പണിനടത്തുന്നവരുടെ കയ്യില് കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു മറുപടി ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

9. And Shaphan the scribe cometh in unto the king, and bringeth the king back word, and saith, 'Thy servants have poured out the silver that hath been found in the house, and give it into the hand of the doers of the work, the inspectors, in the house of Jehovah.'

10. ഹില്ക്കീയാപുരോഹിതന് എന്റെ കയ്യില് ഒരു പുസ്തകം തന്നു എന്നും രായസക്കാരനായ ശാഫാന് രാജാവിനോടു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു. ശാഫാന് അതു രാജസന്നിധിയില് വായിച്ചുകേള്പ്പിച്ചു.

10. And Shaphan the scribe declareth to the king, saying, 'A book hath Hilkiah the priest given to me;' and Shaphan readeth it before the king.

11. രാജാവു ന്യായപ്രമാണപുസ്തകത്തിലെ വാക്യങ്ങളെ കേട്ടിട്ടു വസ്ത്രം കീറി;

11. And it cometh to pass, at the king's hearing the words of the book of the law, that he rendeth his garments,

12. രാജാവു പുരോഹിതനായ ഹില്ക്കീയാവോടും ശാഫാന്റെ മകന് അഹീക്കാമിനോടും മീഖായാവിന്റെ മകന് അക്ബോരിനോടും രായസക്കാരനായ ശാഫാനോടും രാജഭൃത്യനായ അസായാവോടും

12. and the king commandeth Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam son of Shaphan, and Achbor son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah servant of the king, saying,

13. നിങ്ങള് ചെന്നു കണ്ടെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിലെ വാക്യങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു എനിക്കും ജനത്തിന്നും എല്ലായെഹൂദെക്കും വേണ്ടി യഹോവയോടു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിപ്പിന് ; നമുക്കുവേണ്ടി എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും അനുസരിച്ചുനടപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിലെ വാക്യങ്ങളെ കേള്ക്കായ്കകൊണ്ടു നമ്മുടെ നേരെ ജ്വലിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയുടെ കോപം വലിയതല്ലോ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

13. 'Go, seek Jehovah for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found, for great [is] the fury of Jehovah that is kindled against us, because that our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according to all that is written for us.'

14. അങ്ങനെ ഹില്ക്കീയാ പുരോഹിതനും അഹീക്കാമും അക്ബോരും ശാഫാനും അസായാവും അര്ഹസിന്റെ മകനായ തിക്വയുടെ മകനായി രാജവസ്ത്രവിചാരകനായ ശല്ലൂമിന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഹുല്ദാപ്രവാചകിയുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു--അവള് യെരൂശലേമില് രണ്ടാം ഭാഗത്തു പാര്ത്തിരുന്നു--അവളോടു സംസാരിച്ചു.

14. And Hilkiah the priest goeth, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, unto Huldah the prophetess, wife of Shallum, son of Tikvah, son of Harhas, keeper of the garments, and she is dwelling in Jerusalem in the second, and they speak unto her.

15. അവള് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതുയിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങളെ എന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചവനോടു നിങ്ങള് പറയേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നാല്

15. And she saith unto them, 'Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Say to the man who hath sent you unto me:

16. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് ഈ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നും നിവാസികള്ക്കും യെഹൂദാരാജാവു വായിപ്പിച്ച പുസ്തകത്തില് വിവരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും അനര്ത്ഥം വരുത്തും.

16. Thus said Jehovah, Lo, I am bringing in evil unto this place and on its inhabitants, all the words of the book that the king of Judah hath read,

17. അവര് എന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു തങ്ങളുടെ സകല പ്രവൃത്തികളാലും എനിക്കു കോപം വരത്തക്കവണ്ണം അന്യദേവന്മാര്ക്കും ധൂപം കാട്ടിയതു കൊണ്ടു എന്റെ കോപം ഈ സ്ഥലത്തിന്റെ നേരെ ജ്വലിക്കും; അതു കെട്ടുപോകയുമില്ല.

17. because that they have forsaken Me, and make perfume to other gods, so as to provoke Me to anger with every work of their hands, and My wrath hath been kindled against this place, and it is not quenched.

18. എന്നാല് യഹോവയോടു ചോദിപ്പാന് നിങ്ങളെ അയച്ച യെഹൂദാരാജാവിനോടു നിങ്ങള് പറയേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നാല്നീ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന വാക്യങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

18. 'And unto the king of Judah, who is sending you to seek Jehovah, thus do ye say unto him, Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, The words that thou hast heard --

19. അവര് സ്തംഭനത്തിന്നും ശാപത്തിന്നും വിഷയമായിത്തീരുമെന്നു ഞാന് ഈ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നും നിവാസികള്ക്കും വിരോധമായി അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നീ കേട്ടപ്പോള് നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം അലിഞ്ഞു, നീ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നിന്നെത്തന്നെ താഴ്ത്തുകയും നിന്റെ വസ്ത്രം കീറി എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ കരകയും ചെയ്കകൊണ്ടു ഞാനും നിന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

19. because thy heart [is] tender, and thou art humbled because of Jehovah, in thy hearing that which I have spoken against this place, and against its inhabitants, to be for a desolation, and for a reviling, and dost rend thy garments, and weep before Me -- I also have heard -- the affirmation of Jehovah --

20. അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് നിന്നെ നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു ചേര്ത്തുകൊള്ളും; നീ സമാധാനത്തോടെ നിന്റെ കല്ലറയില് അടക്കപ്പെടും; ഞാന് ഈ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു വരുത്തുവാന് പോകുന്ന അനര്ത്ഥമൊന്നും നിന്റെ കണ്ണു കാണുകയില്ല. അവര് രാജാവിനോടു ഈ മറുപടി ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

20. therefore, lo, I am gathering thee unto thy fathers, and thou hast been gathered unto thy grave in peace, and thine eyes do not look on any of the evil that I am bringing in on this place;' and they bring the king back word.
