1. അവന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ ഒമ്പതാം ആണ്ടില് പത്താം മാസം പത്താം തിയ്യതി ബാബേല്രാജാവായ നെബൂഖദ് നേസര് തന്റെ സര്വ്വസൈന്യവുമായി യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ നേരെ വന്നു പാളയം ഇറങ്ങി; അതിന്നെതിരെ ചുറ്റും വാടകോരി.

1. On the tenth day of the tenth month in the ninth year of his rule, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem. His army set up their tents around the city, and built a wall all around it.

2. സിദെക്കീയാ രാജാവിന്റെ പതിനൊന്നാം ആണ്ടുവരെ നഗരം നിരോധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.

2. The city had the army of Babylon around it until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.

3. നാലാം മാസം ഒമ്പതാം തിയ്യതി നഗരത്തില് ക്ഷാമം കലശലായി ദേശത്തെ ജനത്തിന്നു ആഹാരം ഇല്ലാതെപോയി.

3. On the ninth day of the fourth month, there was no food left in the city. There was no more food for the people of the land.

4. അപ്പോള് നഗരമതില് ഒരിടം പൊളിച്ചു കല്ദയര് നഗരം വളഞ്ഞിരിക്കെ പടയാളികള് ഒക്കെയും രാത്രിസമയത്തു രാജാവിന്റെ തോട്ടത്തിന്നരികെ രണ്ടു മതിലുകള്ക്കും മദ്ധ്യേയുള്ള പടിവാതില്വഴിയായി ഔടിപ്പോയി; രാജാവും അരാബയിലേക്കുള്ള വഴിയായി പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി.

4. Then the city was broken into. All the men of war ran away during the night between the two walls beside the king's garden. The Babylonians were all around the city, but the men left by the way of the Arabah.

5. എന്നാല് കല്ദയരുടെ സൈന്യം രാജാവിനെ പിന്തുടര്ന്നു യെരീഹോസമഭൂമിയില്വെച്ചു അവനോടു എത്തി; അവന്റെ സൈന്യമൊക്കെയും അവനെ വിട്ടു ചിന്നിപ്പോയി.

5. Then the Babylonian army went after the king and came to him in the plains of Jericho. All his army ran away from him.

6. അവര് രാജാവിനെ പിടിച്ചു രിബ്ളയില് ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു; അവര് അവന്നു വിധി കല്പിച്ചു.

6. The Babylonians took the king and brought him to the king of Babylon at Riblah. And Nebuchadnezzar told him how he must be punished.

7. അവര് സിദെക്കീയാവിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെ അവന് കാണ്കെ കൊന്നു; സിദെക്കീയാവിന്റെ കണ്ണു പൊട്ടിച്ചിട്ടു രണ്ടു ചങ്ങലകൊണ്ടു അവനെ ബന്ധിച്ചു ബാബേലിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

7. They killed Zedekiah's sons in front of his eyes. Then they put out Zedekiah's eyes and tied him up in chains, and brought him to Babylon.

8. അഞ്ചാം മാസം ഏഴാം തിയ്യതി, നെബൂഖദ് നേസര് രാജാവെന്ന ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ പത്തൊമ്പതാം ആണ്ടില് തന്നേ, ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ ഭൃത്യനായി അകമ്പടി നായകനായ നെബൂസരദാന് യെരൂശലേമില്വന്നു.

8. On the seventh day of the fifth month, in the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, Nebuzaradan came to Jerusalem. He was the captain of the soldiers, a servant of the king of Babylon.

9. അവന് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയവും രാജധാനിയും ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു; യെരൂശലേമിലെ എല്ലാവീടുകളും പ്രധാനഭവനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും അവന് തീ വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

9. He burned the house of the Lord, the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem. He burned every great house with fire.

10. അകമ്പടിനായകനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന കല്ദയസൈന്യമൊക്കെയും യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ ചുറ്റുമുള്ള മതിലുകളെ ഇടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

10. And all the Babylonian army who were with the captain of the soldiers broke down the walls around Jerusalem.

11. നഗരത്തില് ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്ന ജനത്തെയും ബാബേല്രാജാവിനെ ശരണം പ്രാപിച്ചവരെയും പുരുഷാരത്തില് ശേഷിച്ചവരെയും അകമ്പടിനായകനായ നെബൂസരദാന് കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

11. Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the soldiers carried away to Babylon the rest of the people who were left in the city. And he carried away the soldiers who had run away from the battle.

12. എന്നാല് അകമ്പടിനായകന് ദേശത്തെ എളിയവരില് ചിലരെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടക്കാരായിട്ടും കൃഷിക്കാരായിട്ടും വിട്ടേച്ചു പോയി.

12. But the captain of the soldiers left behind some of the very poor people of the land to take care of the vines and to plow the fields.

13. യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ താമ്രസ്തംഭങ്ങളും പീഠങ്ങളും യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ താമ്രംകൊണ്ടുള്ള കടലും കല്ദയര് ഉടെച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു അവയുടെ താമ്രം ബാബേലിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

13. The Babylonians broke in pieces the brass pillars in the house of the Lord. And they broke in pieces the stands and the brass pool which were in the house of the Lord. Then they carried the brass to Babylon.

14. കലങ്ങളും ചട്ടുകങ്ങളും കത്രികകളും തവികളും ശുശ്രൂഷെക്കുള്ള താമ്രോപകരണങ്ങളൊക്കെയും അവര് എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

14. They took away the pots, the tools for digging, the things for putting out the lamps, the dishes for special perfume, and all the brass dishes used for the work of the Lord's house.

15. തീച്ചട്ടികളും കലശങ്ങളും പൊന്നും വെള്ളിയുംകൊണ്ടുള്ളതൊക്കെയും അകമ്പടിനായകന് കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

15. And they took away the fire-holders and the wash-pots. The captain of the soldiers took away what was made of fine gold and what was made of fine silver.

16. ശലോമോന് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ രണ്ടു സ്തംഭം, ഒരു കടല്, പീഠങ്ങള് എന്നിങ്ങനെയുള്ള സകലഉപകരങ്ങളുടെയും താമ്രത്തിന്നു തൂക്കമില്ലാതെയിരുന്നു.

16. The brass of the two pillars, the one pool, and the stands which Solomon had made for the Lord's house, was too much to weigh.

17. ഒരു സ്തംഭത്തിന്റെ ഉയരം പതിനെട്ടു മുഴം; അതിന്മേലുള്ള പോതിക താമ്രംകൊണ്ടു ആയിരുന്നു; പോതികയുടെ ഉയരം മൂന്നു മുഴം; പോതികയുടെ ചുറ്റുമുള്ള വലപ്പണിയും മാതളപ്പഴവും ആസകലം താമ്രംകൊണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഇതുപോലെ മറ്റെ സ്തംഭത്തിന്നും വലപ്പണിയും മറ്റും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

17. One pillar was five times taller than a man. The brass top piece on it was three armlengths tall. A network and pomegranates made of brass were all around the top piece. And the second pillar had the same, with a network.

18. അകമ്പടിനായകന് മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ സെരായാവെയും രണ്ടാം പുരോഹിതനായ സെഫന്യാവെയും മൂന്നു ഉമ്മരപ്പടിക്കാവല്ക്കാരെയും പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു പോയി.

18. Then the captain of the soldiers took Seraiah the head religious leader, and Zephaniah the religious leader next in power. And he took the three men who were keepers of the door.

19. നഗരത്തില് നിന്നു അവന് യോദ്ധാക്കളുടെ മേല്വിചാരകനായ ഒരു ഷണ്ഡനെയും നഗരത്തില്വെച്ചു കണ്ടെത്തിയ രാജപരിചാരകന്മാരില് അഞ്ചുപേരെയും ദേശത്തെ ജനത്തെ പടെക്കു സ്വരൂപിക്കുന്ന സേനാപതിയുടെ രായസക്കാരനെയും നഗരത്തില് കണ്ട ദേശത്തെ ജനത്തില് അറുപതുപേരെയും പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

19. From the city he took a captain who led the men of war, and five men found in the city who had spoken with the king about what should be done. He took the captain of the army, who called together the people of the land. And he took sixty men of the land who were found in the city.

20. ഇവരെ അകമ്പടിനായകനായ നെബൂസരദാന് പിടിച്ചു രിബ്ളയില് ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു.

20. Nebuzaradan the captain of the soldiers took them and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah.

21. ബാബേല്രാജാവു ഹാമത്ത് ദേശത്തിലെ രിബ്ളയില്വെച്ചു അവരെ വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നു. ഇങ്ങനെ യെഹൂദാ സ്വദേശം വിട്ടുപോകേണ്ടിവന്നു.

21. Then the king of Babylon killed them. He put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was taken away from its land.

22. ബാബേല്രാജാവായ നെബൂഖദ്നേസര് യെഹൂദാദേശത്തു ശേഷിപ്പിച്ചുവെച്ച ജനത്തിന്നു ശാഫാന്റെ മകനായ അഹീക്കാമിന്റെ മകനായ ഗെദല്യാവെ അധിപതിയാക്കി.

22. King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon had left some people in the land of Judah. He chose Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, to rule over them.

23. ബാബേല്രാജാവു ഗെദല്യാവെ അധിപതിയാക്കി എന്നു നെഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകന് യിശ്മായേല്, കാരേഹിന്റെ മകന് യോഹാനാന് , നെതോഫാത്യനായ തന് ഹൂമെത്തിന്റെ മകന് സെരായ്യാവു, മാഖാത്യന്റെ മകന് യാസന്യാവു എന്നിങ്ങനെ സകലസേനാപതികളും അവരുടെ ആളുകളും കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവര് മിസ്പെയില് ഗെദല്യാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു.

23. All the captains of the armies and their men heard that the king of Babylon had chosen Gedaliah to be leader. So they came to Gedaliah at Mizpah. The captains who came with their men were Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, Johanan the son of Kareah, Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of Maacathite.

24. ഗെദല്യാവു അവരോടും അവരുടെ ആളുകളോടും സത്യം ചെയ്തു അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് കല്ദയരുടെ ദാസന്മാര്നിമിത്തം ഭയപ്പെടരുതു; ദേശത്തു പാര്ത്തു ബാബേല് രാജാവിനെ സേവിപ്പിന് ; അതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു നന്മയായിരിക്കും.

24. Gedaliah made a promise to them and their men. He said to them, 'Do not be afraid of the Babylonian leaders. Live in the land and work for the king of Babylon. Then it will be well with you.'

25. എന്നാല് ഏഴാം മാസത്തില് രാജവംശക്കാരനായ എലീശയുടെ മകനായ നെഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യിശ്മായേല് പത്തു ആളുമായി വന്നു ഗെദല്യാവെയും അവനോടുകൂടെ മിസ്പെയില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന യെഹൂദ്യരെയും കല്ദയരെയും വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നു.

25. But in the seventh month Ishmael came. He was the son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, of the king's family. He came with ten men and killed Gedaliah and the Jews and Babylonians who were with him at Mizpah.

26. അപ്പോള് ആബാലവൃദ്ധം ജനമൊക്കെയും സേനാപതിമാരും കല്ദയരെ ഭയപ്പെടുകയാല് എഴുന്നേറ്റു പുറപ്പെട്ടു മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു പോയി.

26. Then all the people, both small and great, and the captains of the armies left and went to Egypt. For they were afraid of the Babylonians.

27. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാഖീന്റെ പ്രവാസത്തിന്റെ മുപ്പത്തേഴാം ആണ്ടില് പന്ത്രണ്ടാം മാസം ഇരുപത്തേഴാം തിയ്യതി ബാബേല് രാജാവായ എവീല്-മെരോദക് താന് രാജാവായ ആണ്ടില് യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാഖീനെ കടാക്ഷിച്ചു കാരാഗൃഹത്തില്നിന്നു വിടുവിച്ചു

27. On the twenty-seventh day of the twelfth month, in the thirty-seventh year since King Jehoiachin of Judah was taken away from his land, Evil-merodach became the king of Babylon. He showed favor to King Jehoiachin of Judah, and let him out of prison that year.

28. അവനോടു ആദരവായി സംസാരിച്ചു അവന്റെ ആസനത്തെ തന്നോടുകൂടെ ബാബേലില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ ആസനങ്ങള്ക്കു മേലായി വെച്ചു;

28. He spoke kind words to him, and set his throne above the thrones of the kings who were with him in Babylon.

29. അവന്റെ കാരാഗൃഹവസ്ത്രം മാറ്റി; അവന് ജീവപര്യന്തം നിത്യം അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചു പോന്നു.

29. Jehoiachin changed from his prison clothes. And he ate with the king all the rest of his life.

30. അവന്റെ അഹോവൃത്തിയോ, രാജാവു അവന്നു അവന്റെ മരണദിവസംവരെ അവന്റെ ജീവകാലമൊക്കെയും നിത്യവൃത്തിക്കു ദിവസംപ്രതിയുള്ള ഔഹരി കൊടുത്തുപോന്നു.

30. The King gave him a share of food every day for the rest of his life.
