1. അനന്തരം ഔദേദിന്റെ മകനായ അസര്യ്യാവിന്റെമേല് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവു വന്നു.

1. Some time later, God spoke to Azariah son of Oded.

2. അവന് ആസയെ എതിരേറ്റു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്ആസയും എല്ലായെഹൂദ്യരും ബെന്യാമീന്യരും ആയുള്ളോരേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്പ്പിന് ; നിങ്ങള് യഹോവയോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നേടത്തോളം അവന് നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കും; അവനെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് നിങ്ങള് അവനെ കണ്ടെത്തും; ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിലോ അവന് നിങ്ങളെയും ഉപേക്ഷിക്കും.

2. At once, Azariah went to Asa and said: Listen to me, King Asa and you people of Judah and Benjamin. The LORD will be with you and help you, as long as you obey and worship him. But if you disobey him, he will desert you.

3. യിസ്രായേല് ഇപ്പോള് ബഹുകാലമായി സത്യദൈവവും ഉപദേശിക്കുന്ന പുരോഹിതനും ന്യായപ്രമാണവും ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കുന്നു;

3. For a long time, the people of Israel did not worship the true God or listen to priests who could teach them about God. They refused to obey God's Law.

4. എന്നാല് അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ ഞെരുക്കത്തില് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞു അവനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചപ്പോള്, അവര് അവനെ കണ്ടെത്തി.

4. But whenever trouble came, Israel turned back to the LORD their God and worshiped him.

5. ആ കാലത്തു പോക്കുവരവിന്നു സമാധാനം ഇല്ലാതവണ്ണം ദേശനിവാസികള്ക്കു ഒക്കെയും മഹാകലാപങ്ങള് ഭവിച്ചു.

5. There was so much confusion in those days that it wasn't safe to go anywhere in Israel.

6. ദൈവം അവരെ സകലവിധകഷ്ടങ്ങളാലും പീഡിപ്പിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ജാതി ജാതിയെയും പട്ടണം പട്ടണത്തെയും തകര്ത്തുകളഞ്ഞു.

6. Nations were destroying each other, and cities were wiping out other cities, because God was causing trouble and unrest everywhere.

7. So you must be brave. Don't give up! God will honor you for obeying him.

8. ആസാ ഈ വാക്കുകളും ഔദേദ് പ്രവാചകന്റെ പ്രവചനവും കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവന് ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടു, യെഹൂദയുടെയും ബെന്യാമിന്റെയും ദേശത്തുനിന്നൊക്കെയും എഫ്രയീംമലനാട്ടില് അവന് പിടിച്ചിരുന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങളില്നിന്നും മ്ളേച്ഛവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ നീക്കിക്കളകയും യഹോവയുടെ മണ്ഡപത്തിന് മുമ്പിലുള്ള യഹോവയുടെ യാഗപീഠം പുതുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

8. As soon as Asa heard what Azariah the prophet said, he gave orders for all the idols in Judah and Benjamin to be destroyed, including those in the towns he had captured in the territory of Ephraim. He also repaired the LORD's altar that was in front of the temple porch.

9. പിന്നെ അവന് എല്ലായെഹൂദ്യരെയും ബെന്യാമീന്യരെയും എഫ്രയീമില്നിന്നും മനശ്ശെയില് നിന്നും ശിമേയോനില്നിന്നും അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുപാര്ക്കുംന്നവരെയും കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി; അവന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവനോടുകൂടെയുണ്ടു എന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു യിസ്രായേലില്നിന്നു അനേകര് വന്നു അവനോടു ചേര്ന്നു.

9. Asa called together the people from Judah and Benjamin, as well as the people from the territories of Ephraim, West Manasseh, and Simeon who were living in Judah. Many of these people were now loyal to Asa, because they had seen that the LORD was with him.

10. ഇങ്ങനെ അവര് ആസയുടെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ പതിനേഴാം ആണ്ടില് മൂന്നാം മാസത്തില് യെരൂശലേമില് വന്നുകൂടി.

10. In the third month of the fifteenth year of Asa's rule, they all met in Jerusalem.

11. തങ്ങള് കൊണ്ടുവന്ന കൊള്ളയില്നിന്നു അവര് എഴുനൂറു കാളയെയും ഏഴായിരം ആടിനെയും അന്നു യഹോവേക്കു യാഗം കഴിച്ചു.

11. That same day, they took seven hundred bulls and seven thousand sheep and goats from what they had brought back from Gerar and sacrificed them as offerings to the LORD.

12. പിന്നെ അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ പൂര്ണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടും പൂര്ണ്ണമനസ്സോടും കൂടെ അന്വേഷിച്ചുകൊള്ളാമെന്നും

12. They made a solemn promise to faithfully worship the LORD God their ancestors had worshiped,

13. ചെറിയവനോ വലിയവനോ പുരുഷനോ സ്ത്രീയോ ആരായാലും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിക്കാത്തവര് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണമെന്നും ഒരു നിയമം ചെയ്തു.

13. and to put to death anyone who refused to obey him.

14. അവര് മഹാഘോഷത്തോടും ആര്പ്പോടും കാഹളങ്ങളോടും കുഴലുകളോടും കൂടെ യഹോവയോടു സത്യംചെയ്തു.

14. The crowd solemnly agreed to keep their promise to the LORD, then they celebrated by shouting and blowing trumpets and horns.

15. എല്ലായെഹൂദ്യരും സത്യംനിമിത്തം സന്തോഷിച്ചു; അവര് പൂര്ണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടെ സത്യംചെയ്തു പൂര്ണ്ണതാല്പര്യത്തോടുംകൂടെ അവനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് അവനെ കണ്ടെത്തുകയും യഹോവ അവര്ക്കും ചുറ്റും വിശ്രമം നലകുകയും ചെയ്തു.

15. Everyone was happy because they had made this solemn promise, and in return, the LORD blessed them with peace from all their enemies.

16. ആസാരാജാവു തന്റെ അമ്മയായ മയഖയെയും അവള് അശേരകൂ ഒരു മ്ളേച്ഛവിഗ്രഹം ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു രാജ്ഞിസ്ഥാനത്തില്നിന്നു നീക്കക്കളഞ്ഞു; അവളുടെ മ്ളേച്ഛവിഗ്രഹം ആസാ വെട്ടിത്തകര്ത്തു കിദ്രോന് തോട്ടിങ്കല്വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

16. Asa's grandmother Maacah had made a disgusting idol of the goddess Asherah, so he cut it down, crushed it, and burned it in Kidron Valley. Then he removed Maacah from her position as queen mother.

17. എന്നാല് പൂജാഗിരികള്ക്കു യിസ്രായേലില് നീക്കംവന്നില്ല; എങ്കിലും ആസയുടെ ഹൃദയം അവന്റെ ജീവകാലമൊക്കെയും ഏകാഗ്രമായിരുന്നു.

17. As long as Asa lived, he was faithful to the LORD, even though he did not destroy the local shrines in Israel.

18. വെള്ളി, പൊന്നു, ഉപകരണങ്ങള് എന്നിങ്ങനെ തന്റെ അപ്പന് നിവേദിച്ചതും താന് തന്നേ നിവേദിച്ചതുമായ വസ്തുക്കളെ അവന് ദൈവാലയത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

18. He placed in the temple all the silver and gold objects that he and his father had dedicated to God.

19. ആസയുടെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ മുപ്പത്തഞ്ചാം സംവത്സരംവരെ പിന്നെ യുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടായില്ല.

19. There was peace in Judah until the thirty-fifth year of Asa's rule.
