1. ആഹാസ് വാഴ്ചതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് അവന്നു ഇരുപതു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവന് പതിനാറു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമില് വാണു; എന്നാല് തന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദ് ചെയ്തതുപോലെ യഹോവേക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തില്ല.

1. Ahaz was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And he did not do what was right in the sight of the Lord, as David his father.

2. അവന് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വഴികളില് നടന്നു ബാല്വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ വാര്ത്തുണ്ടാക്കി.

2. But he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, for he made graven images.

3. അവന് ബെന് -ഹിന്നോം താഴ്വരയില് ധൂപം കാട്ടുകയും യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു യഹോവ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞ ജാതികളുടെ മ്ളേച്ഛാചാരപ്രകാരം തന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെ അഗ്നിപ്രവേശം ചെയ്യിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

3. And [he sacrificed] to their idols in the valley of the Son of Hinnom, and passed his children through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel.

4. അവന് പൂജാഗിരികളിലും ഔരോ പച്ചവൃക്ഷത്തിന് കീഴിലും ബലികഴിച്ചും ധൂപം കാട്ടിയും പോന്നു.

4. And he burnt incense upon the high places, and upon the roofs, and under every shady tree.

5. ആകയാല് അവന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവനെ അരാംരാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു; അവര് അവനെ തോല്പിച്ചു അവരില് അസംഖ്യംപേരെ പിടിച്ചു ദമ്മേശെക്കിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി. അവന് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിലും ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടു; അവനും അവനെ അതികഠിനമായി തോല്പിച്ചു.

5. And the Lord his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria. And [the king] attacked him, and took a great multitude of prisoners captive, and carried him to Damascus. Also [God] delivered him into the hands of the king of Israel, who defeated him with a great slaughter.

6. അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു രെമല്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ പെക്കഹ് യെഹൂദയില് ഒരു ലക്ഷത്തിരുപതിനായിരംപേരെ ഒരേദിവസം സംഹരിച്ചു; അവരെല്ലാവരും പരാക്രമശാലികള് ആയിരുന്നു.

6. And Pekah the son of Remeliah king of Israel, killed in Judah in one day a hundred and twenty thousand mighty men, because they had forsaken the Lord God of their fathers.

7. എഫ്രയീമ്യവീരനായ സിക്രി രാജകുമാരനായ മയശേയാവെയും രാജധാനിവിചാരകനായ അസ്രീക്കാമിനെയും രാജാവിന്നു രണ്ടാമനായിരുന്ന എല്ക്കാനയെയും കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

7. And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, killed Maaseiah the king's son, and Azrikam the chief of his house, and Elkanah the king's deputy.

8. യിസ്രായേല്യര് തങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരജനത്തില് സ്ത്രീകളും പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരുമായി രണ്ടുലക്ഷം പേരെ പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോയി, വളരെ കൊള്ളയിട്ടു കൊള്ളയും ശമര്യ്യയിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

8. And the children of Israel took captive of their brethren three hundred thousand women, sons, and daughters, and they plundered them of much property, and brought the spoils to Samaria.

9. എന്നാല് ഔദേദ് എന്ന പേരോടെ യഹോവയുടെ ഒരു പ്രവാചകന് അവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന് ശമര്യ്യയിലേക്കു വന്ന സൈന്യത്തെ എതിരേറ്റു ചെന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതുനിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ യെഹൂദയോടു കോപിച്ചിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു അവരെ നിങ്ങളുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു; നിങ്ങള് അവരെ ആകാശപര്യന്തം എത്തുന്ന ക്രോധത്തോടെ സംഹരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

9. And there was a prophet of the Lord there whose name [was] Oded. And he went out to meet the army that was coming to Samaria, and said to them, Behold, the wrath of the Lord God of your fathers [is] upon Judah, and He has delivered them into your hands, but you have killed them in wrath, and it has reached even to heaven.

10. ഇപ്പോഴോ നിങ്ങള് യെഹൂദ്യരെയും യെരൂശലേമ്യരെയും ദാസീദാസന്മാരായി കീഴടക്കുവാന് ഭാവിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങളുടെ പക്കലും നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടുള്ള അകൃത്യങ്ങള് ഇല്ലയോ?

10. And now you talk of keeping the children of Judah and Jerusalem for servants and handmaidens. Behold, am I not with you to testify for the Lord your God?

11. ആകയാല് ഞാന് പറയുന്നതു കേള്പ്പിന് ; നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരില്നിന്നു നിങ്ങള് പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ബദ്ധന്മാരെ വിട്ടയപ്പിന് ; അല്ലെങ്കില് യഹോവയുടെ ഉഗ്രകോപം നിങ്ങളുടെമേല് ഇരിക്കും.

11. And now listen to me, and restore the prisoners of your brethren whom you have taken: for the fierce anger of the Lord [is] upon you.

12. അപ്പോള് യോഹാനാന്റെ മകന് അസര്യ്യാവു, മെശില്ലേമോത്തിന്റെ മകന് ബേരെഖ്യാവു, ശല്ലൂമിന്റെ മകന് യെഹിസ്കീയാവു, ഹദ്ളായിയുടെ മകന് അമാസാ എന്നിങ്ങനെ എഫ്രയീമ്യതലവന്മാരില് ചിലര് യുദ്ധത്തില്നിന്നു വന്നവരോടു എതിര്ത്തുനിന്നു അവരോടു

12. And the chiefs of the sons of Ephraim rose up, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, against those that came from the war,

13. നിങ്ങള് ബദ്ധന്മാരെ ഇവിടെ കൊണ്ടുവരരുതു; നാം തന്നേ യഹോവയോടു അകൃത്യം ചെയ്തിരിക്കെ നമ്മുടെ പാപങ്ങളോടും അകൃത്യത്തോടും ഇനിയും കൂട്ടുവാന് നിങ്ങള് ഭാവിക്കുന്നു; നമുക്കു വലിയൊരു അകൃത്യം ഉണ്ടു; ഉഗ്രകോപം യിസ്രായേലിന്മേല് ഇരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. and said to them, You shall not bring the prisoners here to us, for whereas sin against the Lord [is already] upon us, [and] you mean to add to our sins, and to our trespass: for our sin [is] great, and the fierce anger of the Lord [is] upon Israel.

14. അപ്പോള് പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും സര്വ്വസഭയും കാണ്കെ ആയുധപാണികള് ബദ്ധന്മാരെയും കൊള്ളയെയും വിട്ടയച്ചു.

14. So the warriors left the prisoners and the spoils before the princes and all the congregation.

15. പേര് ചൊല്ലി വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ട ആളുകള് എഴുന്നേറ്റു ബദ്ധന്മാരെ കൂട്ടി അവരില് നഗ്നന്മാരായവരെ ഒക്കെയും കൊള്ളയിലെ വസ്ത്രം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു; അവരെ ഉടുപ്പിച്ചു ചെരിപ്പും ഇടുവിച്ചശേഷം അവര്ക്കും തിന്മാനും കുടിപ്പാനും കൊടുത്തു എണ്ണയും തേപ്പിച്ചു ക്ഷീണിച്ചുപോയവരെ ഒക്കെയും കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറ്റി, ഈന്തപ്പട്ടണമായ യെരീഹോവില് അവരുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുചെന്നാക്കി ശമര്യ്യെക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

15. And the men who were called by name rose up, and took hold of the prisoners, and clothed all the naked from the spoils, and gave them garments and shoes, and gave them [food] to eat, and [oil] to anoint themselves [with], and they let everyone that was weak [to ride on] donkeys, and placed them in Jericho, the city of palm trees, with their brethren; and they returned to Samaria.

16. ആ കാലത്തു ആഹാസ്രാജാവു തന്നെ സഹായിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അശ്ശൂര്രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചു.

16. At that time King Ahaz sent to the king of Assyria to help him, and on this occasion,

17. എദോമ്യര് പിന്നെയും വന്നു യെഹൂദ്യരെ തോല്പിക്കയും ബദ്ധന്മാരെ പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോകയും ചെയ്തു.

17. because the Edomites had attacked [him] and attacked Judah, and taken a number of prisoners.

18. ഫെലിസ്ത്യരും താഴ്വീതിയിലും യെഹൂദയുടെ തെക്കും ഉള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളെ ആക്രമിച്ചു ബേത്ത്-ശേമെശും അയ്യാലോനും ഗെദേരോത്തും സോഖോവും അതിനോടു ചേര്ന്ന ഗ്രാമങ്ങളും തിമ്നയും അതിനോടു ചേര്ന്ന ഗ്രാമങ്ങളും ഗിംസോവും അതിനോടു ചേര്ന്ന ഗ്രാമങ്ങളും പിടിച്ചു അവിടെ പാര്ത്തു.

18. Also the Philistines had made an attack on the cities of the plain country, and the cities of the south of Judah, and had taken Beth Shemesh, and (the things in the house of the Lord, and the things in the house of the king, and of the princes, and they gave [these] to the king) Aijalon, Gederoth, Sochoh and her villages, Timnah and her villages, and Gimzo and her villages. And they dwelt there.

19. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ആഹാസ് യെഹൂദയില് നിര്മ്മര്യ്യാദം കാണിച്ചു യഹോവയോടു മഹാദ്രോഹം ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ നിമിത്തം യഹോവ യെഹൂദയെ താഴ്ത്തി.

19. For the Lord humbled Judah because of Ahaz king of Judah, because he grievously departed from the Lord.

20. അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവായ തില്ഗത്ത്-പില്നേസെര് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നിട്ടു അവനെ ബലപ്പെടുത്താതെ ഞെരുക്കിയതേയുള്ളു.

20. And Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria came against him, and he afflicted him.

21. ആഹാസ് യെഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില്നിന്നും രാജധാനിയില്നിന്നും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ പക്കല്നിന്നും കവര്ന്നെടുത്തു അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവിന്നു കൊടുത്തു; എങ്കിലും ഇതിനാല് അവന്നു സഹായം ഉണ്ടായില്ല.

21. And Ahaz took the things [that were] in the house of the Lord, and the things in the house of the king, and of the princes, and gave them to the king of Assyria; but he was no help to him,

22. ആഹാസ്രാജാവ് തന്റെ കഷ്ടകാലത്തുകൂടെയും യഹോവയോടു അധികം ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്തു.

22. but only [troubled him] in his affliction. And he departed yet again from the Lord, and King Ahaz said,

23. എങ്ങനെയെന്നാല്അരാം രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദേവന്മാര് അവരെ സഹായിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് എന്നെയും സഹായിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും ബലികഴിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന് തന്നെ തോല്പിച്ച ദമ്മേശെക്കിലെ ദേവന്മാര്ക്കും ബലികഴിച്ചു; എന്നാല് അവ അവന്നും എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിന്നും നാശകാരണമായി ഭവിച്ചു.

23. I will seek after the gods of Damascus that attack me. And he said, Forasmuch as the gods of the king of Syria themselves strengthen them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, and they will help me. But they became a stumbling block to him, and to all Israel.

24. ആഹാസ് ദൈവാലയത്തിലെ ഉപകരണങ്ങളെ എടുത്തു ദൈവാലയത്തിലെ ഉപകരണങ്ങളെ ഉടെച്ചു, യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ വാതിലുകള് അടെച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ ഔരോ മൂലയിലും ബലിപീഠങ്ങള് ഉണ്ടാക്കി.

24. And Ahaz removed the vessels of the house of the Lord, and cut them in pieces, and shut the doors of the house of the Lord, and made for himself altars in every corner in Jerusalem.

25. അന്യദേവന്മാര്ക്കും ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാന് അവന് യെഹൂദയിലെ ഔരോ പട്ടണത്തിലും പൂജാഗിരികള് ഉണ്ടാക്കി തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചു.

25. And in every single city in Judah he made high places to burn incense to strange gods. And they provoked the Lord God of their fathers.

26. അവന്റെ മറ്റുള്ളവൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും സകലപ്രവൃത്തികളും ആദ്യവസാനം യെഹൂദയിലെയും യിസ്രായേലിലെയും രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ പുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. And the rest of his acts and his deeds, the first and the last, behold, [they are] written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

27. ആഹാസ് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവനെ യെരൂശലേംനഗരത്തില് അടക്കംചെയ്തു. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ കല്ലറകളില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നില്ലതാനും; അവന്റെ മകനായ യെഹിസ്കീയാവു അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

27. And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried in the City of David; for they did not bring him into the tombs of the kings of Israel; and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.
