1. ഇപ്പോഴോ എന്നിലും പ്രായം കുറഞ്ഞവര് എന്നെ നോക്കി ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ അപ്പന്മാരെ എന്റെ ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടത്തിന്റെ നായ്ക്കളോടുകൂടെ ആക്കുവാന് പോലും ഞാന് നിരസിക്കുമായിരുന്നു.

1. But now yongere men in tyme scornen me, whos fadris Y deynede not to sette with the doggis of my flok.

2. അവരുടെ കയ്യൂറ്റംകൊണ്ടു എനിക്കെന്തു പ്രയോജനം? അവരുടെ യൌവനശക്തി നശിച്ചുപോയല്ലോ.

2. Of whiche men the vertu of hondis was for nouyt to me, and thei weren gessid vnworthi to that lijf.

3. ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടും വിശപ്പുംകൊണ്ടു അവര് മെലിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ശൂന്യത്തിന്റെയും നിര്ജ്ജനദേശത്തിന്റെയും ഇരുട്ടില് അവര് വരണ്ട നിലം കടിച്ചുകാരുന്നു.

3. Thei weren bareyn for nedynesse and hungur; that gnawiden in wildirnesse, and weren pale for pouert and wretchidnesse;

4. അവര് കുറുങ്കാട്ടില് മണല്ചീര പറിക്കുന്നു; കാട്ടുകിഴങ്ങു അവര്ക്കും ആഹാരമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. and eeten eerbis, aud the ryndis of trees; and the roote of iunyperis was her mete.

5. ജനമദ്ധ്യേനിന്നു അവരെ ഔടിച്ചുകളയുന്നു; കള്ളനെപ്പോലെ അവരെ ആട്ടിക്കളയുന്നു.

5. Whiche men rauyschiden these thingis fro grete valeis; and whanne thei hadden foundun ony of alle, thei runnen with cry to tho.

6. താഴ്വരപ്പിളര്പ്പുകളില് അവര് പാര്ക്കേണ്ടിവരുന്നു; മണ്കുഴികളിലും പാറയുടെ ഗഹ്വരങ്ങളിലും തന്നേ.

6. Thei dwelliden in deseertis of strondis, and in caues of erthe, ethir on grauel, `ethir on cley.

7. കുറുങ്കാട്ടില് അവര് കതറുന്നു; തൂവയുടെ കീഴെ അവര് ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടുന്നു.

7. Whiche weren glad among siche thingis, and arettiden delices to be vndur buschis.

8. അവര് ഭോഷന്മാരുടെ മക്കള്, നീചന്മാരുടെ മക്കള്; അവരെ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു ചമ്മട്ടികൊണ്ടു അടിച്ചോടിക്കുന്നു.

8. The sones of foolis and of vnnoble men, and outirli apperynge not in erthe.

9. ഇപ്പോഴോ ഞാന് അവരുടെ പാട്ടായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര്ക്കും പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലായിത്തീര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

9. But now Y am turned in to the song of hem, and Y am maad a prouerbe to hem.

10. അവര് എന്നെ അറെച്ചു അകന്നുനിലക്കുന്നു; എന്നെ കണ്ടു തുപ്പുവാന് ശങ്കിക്കുന്നില്ല.

10. Thei holden me abhomynable, and fleen fer fro me, and dreden not to spete on my face.

11. അവന് തന്റെ കയറു അഴിച്ചു എന്നെ ക്ളേശിപ്പിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് എന്റെ മുമ്പില് കടിഞ്ഞാണ് അയച്ചു വിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

11. For God hath openyd his arowe caas, and hath turmentid me, and hath set a bridil in to my mouth.

12. വലത്തുഭാഗത്തു നീചപരിഷ എഴുന്നേറ്റു എന്റെ കാല് ഉന്തുന്നു; അവര് നാശമാര്ഗ്ഗങ്ങളെ എന്റെ നേരെ നിരത്തുന്നു.

12. At the riytside of the eest my wretchidnessis risiden anoon; thei turneden vpsedoun my feet, and oppressiden with her pathis as with floodis.

13. അവര് എന്റെ പാതയെ നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; അവര് തന്നേ തുണയറ്റവര് ആയിരിക്കെ എന്റെ അപായത്തിന്നായി ശ്രമിക്കുന്നു.

13. Thei destrieden my weies; thei settiden tresoun to me, and hadden the maistri; and `noon was that helpide.

14. വിസ്താരമുള്ള തുറവില്കൂടി എന്നപോലെ അവര് ആക്രമിച്ചുവരുന്നു; ഇടിവിന്റെ നടുവില് അവര് എന്റെ മേല് ഉരുണ്ടുകയറുന്നു.

14. Thei felden in on me as bi a brokun wal, and bi yate openyd, and weren stretchid forth to my wretchidnessis.

15. ഘോരത്വങ്ങള് എന്റെ നേരെ തിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; കാറ്റുപോലെ എന്റെ മഹത്വത്തെ പാറ്റിക്കളയുന്നു; എന്റെ ക്ഷേമവും മേഘംപോലെ കടന്നു പോകുന്നു.

15. Y am dryuun in to nouyt; he took awei my desir as wynd, and myn helpe passide awei as a cloude.

16. ഇപ്പോള് എന്റെ പ്രാണന് എന്റെ ഉള്ളില് തൂകിപ്പോകുന്നു; കഷ്ടകാലം എന്നെ പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. But now my soule fadith in my silf, and daies of turment holden me stidfastly.

17. രാത്രി എന്റെ അസ്ഥികളെ തുളച്ചെടുത്തുകളയുന്നു; എന്നെ കടിച്ചുകാരുന്നവര് ഉറങ്ങുന്നതുമില്ല.

17. In nyyt my boon is persid with sorewis; and thei, that eten me, slepen not.

18. ഉഗ്രബലത്താല് എന്റെ വസ്ത്രം വിരൂപമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അങ്കിയുടെ കഴുത്തുപോലെ എന്നോടു പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

18. In the multitude of tho my cloth is wastid, and thei han gird me as with coler of a coote.

19. അവന് എന്നെ ചെളിയില് ഇട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് പൊടിക്കും ചാരത്തിന്നും തുല്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

19. Y am comparisound to cley, and Y am maad lijk to a deed sparcle and aisch.

20. ഞാന് നിന്നോടു നിലവിളിക്കുന്നു; നീ ഉത്തരം അരുളുന്നില്ല; ഞാന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിലക്കുന്നു; നീ എന്നെ തുറിച്ചുനോക്കുന്നതേയുള്ളു.

20. Y schal cry to thee, and thou schalt not here me; Y stonde, and thou biholdist not me.

21. നീ എന്റെ നേരെ ക്രൂരനായിത്തീര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ കയ്യുടെ ശക്തിയാല് നീ എന്നെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

21. Thou art chaungid in to cruel to me, and in the hardnesse of thin hond thou art aduersarie to me.

22. നീ എന്നെ കാറ്റിന് പുറത്തു കയറ്റി ഔടിക്കുന്നു; കൊടുങ്കാറ്റില് നീ എന്നെ ലയിപ്പിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

22. Thou hast reisid me, and hast set as on wynd; and hast hurtlid me doun strongli.

23. മരണത്തിലേക്കും സകലജീവികളും ചെന്നു ചേരുന്ന വീട്ടിലേക്കും നീ എന്നെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുമെന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു.

23. Y woot, that thow schalt bitake me to deeth, where an hows is ordeyned to ech lyuynge man.

24. എങ്കിലും വീഴുമ്പോള് കൈ നീട്ടുകയില്ലയോ? അപായത്തില് അതു നിമിത്തം നിലവിളിക്കയില്ലയോ?

24. Netheles thou sendist not out thin hond to the wastyng of hem; and if thei fallen doun, thou schalt saue.

25. കഷ്ടകാലം വന്നവന്നു വേണ്ടി ഞാന് കരഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലയോ? എളിയവന്നു വേണ്ടി എന്റെ മനസ്സു വ്യസനിച്ചിട്ടില്ലയോ?

25. Y wepte sum tyme on him, that was turmentid, and my soule hadde compassioun on a pore man.

26. ഞാന് നന്മെക്കു നോക്കിയിരുന്നപ്പോള് തിന്മവന്നു വെളിച്ചത്തിന്നായി കാത്തിരുന്നപ്പോള് ഇരുട്ടുവന്നു.

26. Y abood goodis, and yuelis ben comun to me; Y abood liyt, and derknessis braken out.

27. എന്റെ കുടല് അമരാതെ തിളെക്കുന്നു; കഷ്ടകാലം എനിക്കു വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

27. Myn ynnere thingis buyliden out with outen my reste; daies of turment camen bifor me.

28. ഞാന് കറുത്തവനായി നടക്കുന്നു; വെയില് കൊണ്ടല്ലതാനും. ഞാന് സഭയില് എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിലവിളിക്കുന്നു.

28. Y yede morenynge, and Y roos with out woodnesse in the cumpenye, and criede.

29. ഞാന് കുറുക്കന്മാര്ക്കും സഹോദരനും ഒട്ടകപ്പക്ഷികള്ക്കു കൂട്ടാളിയും ആയിരിക്കുന്നു.

29. Y was the brother of dragouns, and the felow of ostrigis.

30. എന്റെ ത്വക് കറുത്തു പൊളിഞ്ഞുവീഴുന്നു; എന്റെ അസ്ഥി ഉഷ്ണംകൊണ്ടു കരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

30. My skyn was maad blak on me, and my boonys drieden for heete.

31. എന്റെ കിന്നരനാദം വിലാപമായും എന്റെ കുഴലൂത്തു കരച്ചലായും തീര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

31. Myn harpe is turned in to morenyng, and myn orgun in to the vois of weperis.
