1. പാറയിലെ കാട്ടാടുകളുടെ പ്രസവകാലം നിനക്കറിയാമോ? മാന് പേടകളുടെ ഈറ്റുനോവു നീ കാണുമോ?

1. 'Are you acquainted with the way the mountain goats give birth? Do you watch as the wild deer give birth to their young?

2. അവേക്കു ഗര്ഭം തികയുന്ന മാസം നിനക്കു കണകൂ കൂട്ടാമോ? അവയുടെ പ്രസവകാലം നിനക്കു അറിയാമോ?

2. Do you count the months they must fulfill, and do you know the time they give birth?

3. അവ കുനിഞ്ഞു കുട്ടികളെ പ്രസവിക്കുന്നു; ക്ഷണത്തില് വേദന കഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു.

3. They crouch, they bear their young, they bring forth the offspring they have carried.

4. അവയുടെ കുട്ടികള് ബലപ്പെട്ടു കാട്ടില് വളരുന്നു; അവ പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോകുന്നു; മടങ്ങിവരുന്നതുമില്ല.

4. Their young grow strong, and grow up in the open; they go off, and do not return to them.

5. കാട്ടുകഴുതയെ അഴിച്ചുവിട്ടതു ആര്? വനഗര്ദ്ദഭത്തെ കെട്ടഴിച്ചതാര്?

5. Who let the wild donkey go free? Who released the bonds of the donkey,

6. ഞാന് മരുഭൂമിയെ അതിന്നു വീടും ഉവര്ന്നിലത്തെ അതിന്നു പാര്പ്പിടവുമാക്കി.

6. to whom I appointed the steppe for its home, the salt wastes as its dwelling place?

7. അതു പട്ടണത്തിലെ ആരവം കേട്ടു ചിരിക്കുന്നു; തെളിക്കുന്നവന്റെ ഒച്ച കൂട്ടാക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

7. It scorns the tumult in the town; it does not hear the shouts of a driver.

8. മലനിരകള് അതിന്റെ മേച്ചല്പുറമാകുന്നു; പച്ചയായതൊക്കെയും അതു തിരഞ്ഞുനടക്കുന്നു.

8. It ranges the hills as its pasture, and searches after every green plant.

9. കാട്ടുപോത്തു നിന്നെ വഴിപ്പെട്ടു സേവിക്കുമോ? അതു നിന്റെ പുല്തൊട്ടിക്കരികെ രാപാര്ക്കുംമോ?

9. Is the wild ox willing to be your servant? Will it spend the night at your feeding trough?

10. കാട്ടു പോത്തിനെ നിനക്കു കയറിട്ടു ഉഴവിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോകാമോ? അതു നിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ നിലം നിരത്തുമോ?

10. Can you bind the wild ox to a furrow with its rope, will it till the valleys, following after you?

11. അതിന്റെ ശക്തി വലുതാകയാല് നീ അതിനെ വിശ്വസിക്കുമോ? നിന്റെ വേല നീ അതിന്നു ഭരമേല്പിച്ചു കൊടുക്കുമോ?

11. Will you rely on it because its strength is great? Will you commit your labor to it?

12. അതു നിന്റെ വിത്തു കൊണ്ടുവരുമെന്നും നിന്റെ കളപ്പുരയില് കൂട്ടുമെന്നും നീ വിശ്വസിക്കുമോ?

12. Can you count on it to bring in your grain, and gather the grain to your threshing floor?

13. ഒട്ടകപ്പക്ഷി ഉല്ലസിച്ചു ചിറകു വീശുന്നു; എങ്കിലും ചിറകും തൂവലുംകൊണ്ടു വാത്സല്യം കാണിക്കുമോ?

13. 'The wings of the ostrich flap with joy, but are they the pinions and plumage of a stork?

14. അതു നിലത്തു മുട്ട ഇട്ടേച്ചുപോകുന്നു; അവയെ പൊടിയില് വെച്ചു വിരിക്കുന്നു.

14. For she leaves her eggs on the ground, and lets them be warmed on the soil.

15. കാല്കൊണ്ടു അവ ഉടഞ്ഞുപോയേക്കുമെന്നോ കാട്ടുമൃഗം അവയെ ചവിട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞേക്കുമെന്നോ അതു ഔര്ക്കുംന്നില്ല.

15. She forgets that a foot might crush them, or that a wild animal might trample them.

16. അതു തന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളോടു തനിക്കുള്ളവയല്ല എന്നപോലെ കാഠിന്യം കാണിക്കുന്നു; തന്റെ പ്രയത്നം വ്യര്ത്ഥമായ്പോകുമെന്നു ഭയപ്പെടുന്നില്ല.

16. She is harsh with her young, as if they were not hers; she is unconcerned about the uselessness of her labor.

17. ദൈവം അതിന്നു ജ്ഞാനമില്ലാതാക്കി വിവേകം അതിന്നു നല്കീട്ടുമില്ല.

17. For God deprived her of wisdom, and did not impart understanding to her.

18. അതു ചിറകടിച്ചു പൊങ്ങി ഔടുമ്പോള് കുതിരയെയും പുറത്തു കയറിയവനെയും പരിഹസിക്കുന്നു.

18. But as soon as she springs up, she laughs at the horse and its rider.

19. കുതിരെക്കു നീയോ ശക്തി കൊടുത്തതു? അതിന്റെ കഴുത്തിന്നു നീയോ കുഞ്ചിരോമം അണിയിച്ചതു?

19. 'Do you give the horse its strength? Do you clothe its neck with a mane?

20. നിനക്കു അതിനെ വെട്ടുക്കിളിയെപ്പോലെ ചാടിക്കാമോ? അതിന്റെ ഹുങ്കാരപ്രതാപം ഭയങ്കരം.

20. Do you make it leap like a locust? Its proud neighing is terrifying!

21. അതു താഴ്വരയില് മാന്തി ഊക്കോടെ ഉല്ലസിക്കുന്നു. അതു ആയുധപാണികളെ എതിര്ത്തുചെല്ലുന്നു.

21. It paws the ground in the valley, exulting mightily, it goes out to meet the weapons.

22. അതു കൂശാതെ ഭയത്തെ പുച്ഛിക്കുന്നു; വാളിനോടു പിന് വാങ്ങി മണ്ടുന്നതുമില്ല.

22. It laughs at fear and is not dismayed; it does not shy away from the sword.

23. അതിന്നു എതിരെ ആവനാഴിയും മിന്നുന്ന കുന്തവും ശൂലവും കിലുകിലുക്കുന്നു.

23. On it the quiver rattles; the lance and javelin flash.

24. അതു ഉഗ്രതയും കോപവും പൂണ്ടു നിലം വിഴുങ്ങുന്നു; കാഹളനാദം കേട്ടാല് അതു അടങ്ങിനില്ക്കയില്ല.

24. In excitement and impatience it consumes the ground; it cannot stand still when the trumpet is blown.

25. കാഹളനാദം ധ്വനിക്കുന്തോറും അതു ഹാ, ഹാ എന്നു ചിനെക്കുന്നു; പടയും പടനായകന്മാരുടെ മുഴക്കവും ആര്പ്പും ദൂരത്തുനിന്നു മണക്കുന്നു.

25. At the sound of the trumpet, it says, 'Aha!' And from a distance it catches the scent of battle, the thunderous shouting of commanders, and the battle cries.

26. നിന്റെ വിവേകത്താലോ പരുന്തു പറക്കയും ചിറകു തെക്കോട്ടു വിടര്ക്കുംകയും ചെയ്യുന്നതു?

26. 'Is it by your understanding that the hawk soars, and spreads its wings toward the south?

27. നിന്റെ കല്പനെക്കോ കഴുകന് മേലോട്ടു പറക്കയും ഉയരത്തില് കൂടുവെക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നതു?

27. Is it at your command that the eagle soars, and builds its nest on high?

28. അതു പാറയില് കുടിയേറി രാപാര്ക്കുംന്നു; പാറമുകളിലും ദുര്ഗ്ഗത്തിലും തന്നേ.

28. It lives on a rock and spends the night there, on a rocky crag and a fortress.

29. അവിടെനിന്നു അതു ഇര തിരയുന്നു; അതിന്റെ കണ്ണു ദൂരത്തേക്കു കാണുന്നു.

29. From there it spots its prey, its eyes gaze intently from a distance.

30. അതിന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുകള് ചോര വലിച്ചു കുടിക്കുന്നു. പട്ടുപോയവര് എവിടെയോ അവിടെ അതുണ്ടു.
