1. The Proverbs of Solomon son of David, who reigned in Israel:

2. ജ്ഞാനവും പ്രബോധനവും പ്രാപിപ്പാനും വിവേകവചനങ്ങളെ ഗ്രഹിപ്പാനും

2. to know wisdom and instruction, and to perceive words of understanding;

3. പരിജ്ഞാനം, നീതി, ന്യായം, നേര് എന്നിവെക്കായി പ്രബോധനം ലഭിപ്പാനും

3. to receive also hard sayings, and to understand true justice, and how to direct judgment;

4. അല്പബുദ്ധികള്ക്കു സൂക്ഷ്മബുദ്ധിയും ബാലന്നു പരിജ്ഞാനവും വകതിരിവും നലകുവാനും

4. that he might give prudence to the simple, and to the young man discernment and understanding.

5. ജ്ഞാനി കേട്ടിട്ടു വിദ്യാഭിവൃദ്ധിപ്രാപിപ്പാനും, ബുദ്ധിമാന് സദുപദേശം സമ്പാദിപ്പാനും

5. For by the hearing of these a wise man will be wiser, and a man of understanding will gain direction;

6. സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങളും അലങ്കാരവചനങ്ങളും ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ മൊഴികളും കടങ്കഥകളും മനസ്സിലാക്കുവാനും അവ ഉതകുന്നു.

6. and will understand a parable, and an enigma; the saying of the wise also, and riddles.

7. യഹോവാഭക്തി ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ ആരംഭമാകുന്നു; ഭോഷന്മാരോ ജ്ഞാനവും പ്രബോധനവും നിരസിക്കുന്നു.

7. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and [there is] good understanding to all that practice it: and godliness toward God is the beginning of discernment; but the ungodly will nullify wisdom and instruction.

8. മകനേ, അപ്പന്റെ പ്രബോധനം കേള്ക്ക. അമ്മയുടെ ഉപദേശം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കയുമരുതു;

8. Hear, my son, the instruction of your father, and reject not the rules of your mother.

9. അവ നിന്റെ ശിരസ്സിന്നു അലങ്കാരമാലയും നിന്റെ കഴുത്തിന്നു സരപ്പളിയും ആയിരിക്കും.

9. For you shall receive a crown of grace for your head, and a chain of gold around your neck.

10. മകനേ, പാപികള് നിന്നെ വശീകരിച്ചാല് വഴിപ്പെട്ടുപോകരുതു.

10. [My] son, let not ungodly men lead you astray, neither shall you consent [to them].

11. ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ വരിക; നാം രക്തത്തിന്നായി പതിയിരിക്ക; നിര്ദ്ദോഷിയെ കാരണം കൂടാതെ പിടിപ്പാന് ഒളിച്ചിരിക്ക.

11. If they should exhort you, saying, Come with us, partake in blood, and let us unjustly hide the just man in the earth:

12. പാതാളംപോലെ അവരെ ജീവനോടെയും കുഴിയില് ഇറങ്ങുന്നവരെപ്പോലെ അവരെ സര്വ്വാംഗമായും വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളക.

12. and let us swallow him alive, as Hades would, and remove the memorial of him from the earth:

13. നമുക്കു വലിയേറിയ സമ്പത്തൊക്കെയും കിട്ടും; നമ്മുടെ വീടുകളെ കൊള്ളകൊണ്ടു നിറെക്കാം.

13. let us seize on his valuable property, and let us fill our houses with spoils:

14. നിനക്കു ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ സമാംശം കിട്ടും; നമുക്കു എല്ലാവര്ക്കും സഞ്ചി ഒന്നായിരിക്കും; എന്നിങ്ങനെ അവര് പറഞ്ഞാല്;

14. but cast in your lot with us, and let us all provide a common purse, and let us have one pouch:

15. മകനേ, നീ അവരുടെ വഴിക്കു പോകരുതു; നിന്റെ കാല് അവരുടെ പാതയില് വെക്കയുമരുതു.

15. go not in the way with them, let your foot turn aside from their paths:

16. അവരുടെ കാല് ദോഷം ചെയ്വാന് ഔടുന്നു; രക്തം ചൊരിയിപ്പാന് അവര് ബദ്ധപ്പെടുന്നു.

17. പക്ഷി കാണ്കെ വലവിരിക്കുന്നതു വ്യര്ത്ഥമല്ലോ.

17. for nets are not spread for [the] birds without cause.

18. അവര് സ്വന്ത രക്തത്തിന്നായി പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; സ്വന്തപ്രാണഹാനിക്കായി ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

18. For they that are concerned in murder store up evils for themselves; and the overthrow of transgressors is evil.

19. ദുരാഗ്രഹികളായ ഏവരുടെയും വഴികള് അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ; അതു അവരുടെ ജീവനെ എടുത്തുകളയുന്നു.

19. These are the ways of all that perform lawless deeds; for by ungodliness they destroy their own life.

20. ജ്ഞാനമായവള് വീഥിയില് ഘോഷിക്കുന്നു; വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തു സ്വരം കേള്പ്പിക്കുന്നു.

20. Wisdom sings aloud in passages, and in the broad places speaks boldly.

21. അവള് ആരവമുള്ള തെരുക്കളുടെ തലെക്കല് നിന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നു; നഗരദ്വാരങ്ങളിലും നഗരത്തിന്നകത്തും പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നതു

21. And she makes proclamation on the top of the walls, and sits by the gates of princes; and at the gates of the city boldly says,

22. ബുദ്ധിഹീനരേ, നിങ്ങള് ബുദ്ധീഹിനതയില് രസിക്കയും പരിഹാസികളേ, നിങ്ങള് പരിഹാസത്തില് സന്തോഷിക്കയും ഭോഷന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങള് പരിജ്ഞാനത്തെ വെറുക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതു എത്രത്തോളം?

22. So long as the simple cleave to justice, they shall not be ashamed: but the foolish being lovers of haughtiness, having become ungodly have hated knowledge, and have become subject to reproofs.

23. എന്റെ ശാസനെക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞുകൊള്വിന് ; ഞാന് എന്റെ മനസ്സു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു പൊഴിച്ചു തരും; എന്റെ വചനങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളെ അറിയിക്കും.

23. Behold, I will bring forth to you the utterance of my breath, and I will instruct you in my speech.

24. ഞാന് വിളിച്ചിട്ടു നിങ്ങള് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കാതെയും ഞാന് കൈ നീട്ടീട്ടു ആരും കൂട്ടാക്കാതെയും

24. Since I called, and you did not hear, and I spoke at length, and you gave no heed;

25. നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ ആലോചന ഒക്കെയും ത്യജിച്ചുകളകയും എന്റെ ശാസനയെ ഒട്ടും അനുസരിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു

25. but you disdained my counsels, and disregarded my reproofs;

26. ഞാനും നിങ്ങളുടെ അനര്ത്ഥദിവസത്തില് ചിരിക്കും; നിങ്ങള് ഭയപ്പെടുന്നതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഭവിക്കുമ്പോള് പരിഹസിക്കും.

26. therefore I also will laugh at your destruction; and I will rejoice against you when ruin comes upon you:

27. നിങ്ങള് ഭയപ്പെടുന്നതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു കൊടുങ്കാറ്റുപോലെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ ആപത്തു ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റുപോലെയും വരുമ്പോള്, കഷ്ടവും സങ്കടവും നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വരുമ്പോള് തന്നേ.

27. yea when dismay suddenly comes upon you, and your overthrow shall arrive like a tempest; and when tribulation and distress shall come upon you, or when ruin shall come upon you.

28. അപ്പോള് അവര് എന്നെ വിളിക്കും; ഞാന് ഉത്തരം പറകയില്ല. എന്നെ ജാഗ്രതയോടെ അന്വേഷിക്കും; കണ്ടെത്തുകയുമില്ല.

28. For it shall be that when you call upon me, I will not listen to you: wicked men shall seek me, but shall not find me.

29. അവര് പരിജ്ഞാനത്തെ വെറുത്തല്ലോ; യഹോവാഭക്തിയെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതുമില്ല.

29. For they hated wisdom, and did not choose the word of the Lord:

30. അവര് എന്റെ ആലോചന അനുസരിക്കാതെ എന്റെ ശാസന ഒക്കെയും നിരസിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു

30. neither would they attend to my counsels, but derided my reproofs.

31. അവര് സ്വന്തവഴിയുടെ ഫലം അനുഭവിക്കയും തങ്ങളുടെ ആലോചനകളാല് തൃപ്തി പ്രാപിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

31. Therefore shall they eat the fruits of their own way, and shall be filled with their own ungodliness.

32. ബുദ്ധിഹീനരുടെ പിന്മാറ്റം അവരെ കൊല്ലും; ഭോഷന്മാരുടെ നിശ്ചിന്ത അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കും.

32. For because they wronged the simple, they shall be slain; and an inquisition shall ruin the ungodly.

33. എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കുന്നവനോ നിര്ഭയം വസിക്കയും ദോഷഭയം കൂടാതെ സ്വൈരമായിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

33. But he that listens to me shall dwell in confidence, and shall rest securely from all evil.
