1. ലെമൂവേല്രാജാവിന്റെ വചനങ്ങള്; അവന്റെ അമ്മ അവന്നു ഉപദേശിച്ചു കൊടുത്ത അരുളപ്പാടു.

1. The words of Lemuel king of Massa, which his mother taught him:

2. മകനേ, എന്തു? ഞാന് പ്രസവിച്ച മകനേ എന്തു? എന്റെ നേര്ച്ചകളുടെ മകനേ, എന്തു?

2. What, my son? What, son who came from within me? What, son of my promises?

3. സ്ത്രീകള്ക്കു നിന്റെ ബലത്തെയും രാജാക്കന്മാരെ നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും നിന്റെ വഴികളെയും കൊടുക്കരുതു.

3. Do not give your strength to women, or your ways to that which destroys kings.

4. വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കുന്നതു രാജാക്കന്മാര്ക്കും കൊള്ളരുതു; ലെമൂവേലേ, രാജാക്കന്മാര്ക്കും അതു കൊള്ളരുതു; മദ്യസക്തി പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര്ക്കും കൊള്ളരുതു.

4. It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, or for rulers to desire strong drink.

5. അവര് കുടിച്ചിട്ടു നിയമം മറന്നുപോകുവാനും അരിഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ന്യായം മറിച്ചുകളവാനും ഇടവരരുതു.

5. Or they might drink and forget the law, and go against the rights of all who are suffering.

6. നശിക്കുമാറായിരിക്കുന്നവന്നു മദ്യവും മനോവ്യസനമുള്ളവന്നു വീഞ്ഞും കൊടുക്ക.

6. Give strong drink to him who is about to die, and wine to him whose life is full of trouble.

7. അവന് കുടിച്ചിട്ടു തന്റെ ദാരിദ്ര്യം മറക്കയും തന്റെ അരിഷ്ടത ഔര്ക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യട്ടെ.

7. Let him drink and forget how poor he is, and remember his trouble no more.

8. ഊമന്നു വേണ്ടി നിന്റെ വായ് തുറക്ക; ക്ഷയിച്ചുപോകുന്ന ഏവരുടെയും കാര്യത്തില് തന്നേ.

8. Open your mouth for those who cannot speak, and for the rights of those who are left without help.

9. നിന്റെ വായ് തുറന്നു നീതിയോടെ ന്യായം വിധിക്ക; എളിയവന്നും ദരിദ്രന്നും ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്തുകൊടുക്ക.

9. Open your mouth. Be right and fair in what you decide. Stand up for the rights of those who are suffering and in need.

10. സാമര്ത്ഥ്യമുള്ള ഭാര്യയെ ആര്ക്കും കിട്ടും? അവളുടെ വില മുത്തുകളിലും ഏറും.

10. Who can find a good wife? For she is worth far more than rubies that make one rich.

11. ഭര്ത്താവിന്റെ ഹൃദയം അവളെ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ ലാഭത്തിന്നു ഒരു കുറവുമില്ല.

11. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will never stop getting good things.

12. അവള് തന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലമൊക്കെയും അവന്നു തിന്മയല്ല നന്മ തന്നേ ചെയ്യുന്നു.

12. She does him good and not bad all the days of her life.

13. അവള് ആട്ടുരോമവും ചണവും സമ്പാദിച്ചു താല്പര്യത്തോടെ കൈകൊണ്ടു വേലചെയ്യുന്നു.

13. She looks for wool and flax, and works with willing hands.

14. അവള് കച്ചവടക്കപ്പല് പോലെയാകുന്നു; ദൂരത്തുനിന്നു ആഹാരം കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു.

14. She is like ships that trade. She brings her food from far away.

15. അവള് നന്നരാവിലെ എഴുന്നേറ്റു, വീട്ടിലുള്ളവര്ക്കും ആഹാരവും വേലക്കാരത്തികള്ക്കു ഔഹരിയും കൊടുക്കുന്നു.

15. She rises while it is still night and makes food for all those in her house. She gives work for the young women to do.

16. അവള് ഒരു നിലത്തിന്മേല് ദൃഷ്ടിവെച്ചു അതു മേടിക്കുന്നു; കൈനേട്ടംകൊണ്ടു അവള് ഒരു മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.

16. She gives careful thought to a field and buys it. She plants grape-vines from what she has earned.

17. അവള് ബലംകൊണ്ടു അര മുറക്കുകയും ഭുജങ്ങളെ ശക്തീകരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

17. She makes herself ready with strength, and makes her arms strong.

18. തന്റെ വ്യാപാരം ആദായമുള്ളതെന്നു അവള് ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു; അവളുടെ വിളകൂ രാത്രിയില് കെട്ടുപോകുന്നതുമില്ല.

18. She sees that what she has earned is good. Her lamp does not go out at night.

19. അവള് വിടുത്തലെക്കു കൈ നീട്ടുന്നു; അവളുടെ വിരല് കതിര് പിടിക്കുന്നു.

19. She puts her hands to the wheel to make cloth.

20. അവള് തന്റെ കൈ എളിയവര്ക്കും തുറക്കുന്നു; ദരിദ്രന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കു കൈ നീട്ടുന്നു.

20. She opens her hand to the poor, and holds out her hands to those in need.

21. തന്റെ വീട്ടുകാരെച്ചൊല്ലി അവള് ഹിമത്തെ പേടിക്കുന്നില്ല; അവളുടെ വീട്ടിലുള്ളവര്ക്കൊക്കെയും ചുവപ്പു കമ്പളി ഉണ്ടല്ലോ.

21. She is not afraid of the snow for those in her house, for all of them are dressed in red.

22. അവള് തനിക്കു പരവതാനി ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു; ശണപടവും ധൂമ്രവസ്ത്രവും അവളുടെ ഉടുപ്പു.

22. She makes coverings for herself. Her clothes are linen cloth and purple.

23. ദേശത്തിലെ മൂപ്പന്മാരോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള് അവളുടെ ഭര്ത്താവു പട്ടണവാതില്ക്കല് പ്രസിദ്ധനാകുന്നു.

23. Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the leaders of the land.

24. അവള് ശണവസ്ത്രം ഉണ്ടാക്കി വിലക്കുന്നു; അരക്കച്ച ഉണ്ടാക്കി കച്ചവടക്കാരനെ ഏല്പിക്കുന്നു.

24. She makes linen clothes and sells them. She brings belts to those who trade.

25. ബലവും മഹിമയും അവളുടെ ഉടുപ്പു; ഭാവികാലം ഔര്ത്തു അവള് പുഞ്ചിരിയിടുന്നു.

25. Her clothes are strength and honor. She is full of joy about the future.

26. അവള് ജ്ഞാനത്തോടെ വായ് തുറക്കുന്നു; ദയയുള്ള ഉപദേശം അവളുടെ നാവിന്മേല് ഉണ്ടു.

26. She opens her mouth with wisdom. The teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

27. വീട്ടുകാരുടെ പെരുമാറ്റം അവള് സൂക്ഷിച്ചു നോക്കുന്നു; വെറുതെ ഇരുന്നു അഹോവൃത്തി കഴിക്കുന്നില്ല.

27. She looks well to the ways of those in her house, and does not eat the bread of doing nothing.

28. അവളുടെ മക്കള് എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവളെ ഭാഗ്യവതി എന്നു പുകഴ്ത്തുന്നു; അവളുടെ ഭര്ത്താവും അവളെ പ്രശംസിക്കുന്നതു

28. Her children rise up and honor her. Her husband does also, and he praises her, saying:

29. അനേകം തരുണികള് സാമര്ത്ഥ്യം കാണിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടു; നീയോ അവരെല്ലാവരിലും ശ്രേഷ്ഠയായിരിക്കുന്നു.

29. 'Many daughters have done well, but you have done better than all of them.'

30. ലാവണ്യം വ്യാജവും സൌന്ദര്യം വ്യര്ത്ഥവും ആകുന്നു; യഹോവാഭക്തിയുള്ള സ്ത്രീയോ പ്രശംസിക്കപ്പെടും.

30. Pleasing ways lie and beauty comes to nothing, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised.

31. അവളുടെ കൈകളുടെ ഫലം അവള്ക്കു കൊടുപ്പിന് ; അവളുടെ സ്വന്തപ്രവൃത്തികള് പട്ടണവാതില്ക്കല് അവളെ പ്രശംസിക്കട്ടെ.

31. Give her the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.
