1. രാത്രിസമയത്തു എന്റെ കിടക്കയില് ഞാന് എന്റെ പ്രാണപ്രിയനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു; ഞാന് അവനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു; കണ്ടില്ലതാനും.

1. By night on my bed I sought Him whom my soul loves. I sought Him, but I did not find Him.

2. ഞാന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു നഗരത്തില് സഞ്ചരിച്ചു, വീഥികളിലും വിശാലസ്ഥലങ്ങളിലും എന്റെ പ്രാണപ്രിയനെ അന്വേഷിക്കും എന്നു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞു; ഞാന് അവനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു; കണ്ടില്ല താനും.

2. I will rise now and go about in the city, in the streets and in the broad places. I will seek Him whom my soul loves. I sought Him, but I did not find Him.

3. നഗരത്തില് സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന കാവല്ക്കാര് എന്നെ കണ്ടു; എന്റെ പ്രാണപ്രിയനെ കണ്ടുവോ എന്നു ഞാന് അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

3. The one watching going about in the city found me. I said, Have you seen Him whom my soul loves?

4. അവരെ വിട്ടു കുറെ അങ്ങോട്ടു ചെന്നപ്പോള് ഞാന് എന്റെ പ്രാണപ്രിയനെ കണ്ടു. ഞാന് അവനെ പിടിച്ചു, എന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ വീട്ടിലേക്കും എന്നെ പ്രസവിച്ചവളുടെ അറയിലേക്കും കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നതുവരെ അവനെ വിട്ടില്ല.

4. When I had passed on from them, it was a little while until I found Him whom my soul loves. I seized Him, and I did not let Him go until I had brought Him into my mother's house, and into the room of her who conceived me.

5. യെരൂശലേംപുത്രിമാരേ, ചെറുമാനുകളാണ, പേടമാനുകളാണ, പ്രേമത്തിന്നു ഇഷ്ടമാകുവോളം അതിനെ ഇളക്കരുതു ഉണര്ത്തുകയുമരുതു.

5. I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles or by the does of the field, that you do not stir up, even that you not awaken the Love until it pleases.

6. മൂറും കുന്തുരുക്കവും കൊണ്ടും കച്ചവടക്കാരന്റെ സകലവിധ സുഗന്ധചൂര്ണ്ണങ്ങള്കൊണ്ടും പരിമളപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന പുകത്തൂണ്പോലെ മരുഭൂമിയില്നിന്നു കയറിവരുന്നോരിവന് ആര്?

6. Who is this who comes up out of the wilderness like columns of smoke, sacrificing as incense myrrh and frankincense, from all powders of the merchant?

7. ശലോമോന്റെ പല്ലകൂ തന്നേ; യിസ്രായേല് വീരന്മാരില് അറുപതു വീരന്മാര് അതിന്റെ ചുറ്റും ഉണ്ടു.

7. Behold his bed, Solomon's! Sixty mighty men are around it, of the mighty men of Israel.

8. അവരെല്ലാവരും വാളെടുത്ത യുദ്ധസമര്ത്ഥന്മാര്; രാത്രിയിലെ ഭയം നിമിത്തം ഔരോരുത്തന് അരെക്കു വാള് കെട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

8. They all hold the sword, instructed in war; each man has his sword on his thigh from dread in the night.

9. ശലോമോന് രാജാവു ലെബാനോനിലെ മരം കൊണ്ടു തനിക്കു ഒരു പല്ലകൂ ഉണ്ടാക്കി.

9. King Solomon made himself a litter bed of the trees of Lebanon.

10. അതിന്റെ മേക്കട്ടിക്കാല് അവന് വെള്ളികൊണ്ടും ചാരു പൊന്നുകൊണ്ടും ഇരിപ്പിടം രക്താംബരംകൊണ്ടും ഉണ്ടാക്കി; അതിന്റെ അന്തര്ഭാഗം യെരൂശലേംപുത്രിമാരുടെ പ്രേമംകൊണ്ടു വിചിത്രഖചിതമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

10. He made its poles of silver; its back of gold; its seat of purple; its middle was paved with love by the daughters of Jerusalem.

11. സീയോന് പുത്രിമാരേ, നിങ്ങള് പുറപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നു ശലോമോന് രാജാവിനെ അവന്റെ കല്യാണ ദിവസത്തില്, അവന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ ആനന്ദദിവസത്തില് തന്നേ, അവന്റെ അമ്മ അവനെ ധരിപ്പിച്ച കിരീടത്തോടുകൂടെ കാണ്മിന്.

11. Go forth, O daughters of Zion, and see King Solomon with the crown with which his mother crowned him on his wedding day, even on the day of the gladness of his heart.
