1. യോശീയാവിന്റെ മകനായി യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീമിന്റെ നാലാം ആണ്ടില്--ബാബേല്രാജാവായ നെബൂഖദ് നേസരിന്റെ ഒന്നാം ആണ്ടു തന്നേ--സകല യെഹൂദാജനത്തെയും കുറിച്ചു യിരെമ്യാവിന്നുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാടു.

1. Jehovah hath shewed me, and lo, two baskets of figs, appointed before the temple of Jehovah, -- after the removing by Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, of Jeconiah, son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the heads of Judah, and the artisan, and the smith, from Jerusalem, when he bringeth them into Babylon --

2. യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകന് അതു സകല യെഹൂദാജനത്തോടും സകലയെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളോടും പ്രസ്താവിച്ചതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നാല്

2. In the one basket [are] figs very good, like the first-ripe figs, and in the other basket [are] figs very bad, that are not eaten for badness.

3. ആമോന്റെ മകനായി യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യോശീയാവിന്റെ പതിമൂന്നാം ആണ്ടുമുതല് ഇന്നുവരെ ഈ ഇരുപത്തുമൂന്നു സംവത്സരം യഹോവയുടെ വചനം എനിക്കുണ്ടാകയും ഞാന് ഇടവിടാതെ നിങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിക്കയും ചെയ്തിട്ടും നിങ്ങള് കേട്ടില്ല.

3. And Jehovah saith unto me, 'What art thou seeing, Jeremiah?' and I say, 'Figs, the good figs [are] very good, and the bad [are] very bad, that are not eaten for badness.'

4. യഹോവ പ്രവാചകന്മാരായ തന്റെ സകല ദാസന്മാരെയും ഇടവിടാതെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചിട്ടും നിങ്ങള് കേട്ടില്ല; കേള്ക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം നിങ്ങളുടെ ചെവി ചായിച്ചതുമില്ല.

4. And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying:

5. നിങ്ങള് ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ ദുര്മ്മാര്ഗ്ഗവും ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തികളും വിട്ടുതിരിവിന് ; എന്നാല് യഹോവ നിങ്ങള്ക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര്ക്കും തന്ന ദേശത്തു നിങ്ങള് എന്നും എന്നേക്കും പാര്ക്കും.

5. Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Like these good figs so do I acknowledge The removed of Judah -- that I sent from this place, [To] the land of the Chaldeans -- for good.

6. അന്യ ദേവന്മാരെ സേവിച്ചു നമസ്കരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരോടു ചേരരുതു; നിങ്ങളുടെ കൈകളുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികള്കൊണ്ടു എന്നെ കോപിപ്പിക്കയും അരുതു; എന്നാല് ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അനര്ത്ഥം വരുത്തുകയില്ല എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

6. And I have set Mine eyes on them for good, And have brought them back to this land, And built them up, and I throw not down, And have planted them, and pluck not up.

7. എങ്കിലും നിങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ അനര്ത്ഥത്തിന്നായി നിങ്ങളുടെ കൈകളുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികൊണ്ടു എന്നെ കോപിപ്പിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കാതിരുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

7. And have given to them a heart to know Me, For I [am] Jehovah, And they have been to Me for a people, And I am to them for God, For they turned back unto Me with all their heart.

8. അതുകൊണ്ടു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങള് എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കേള്ക്കായ്കകൊണ്ടു

8. And like the bad figs, that are not eaten for badness, Surely thus said Jehovah: So do I make Zedekiah king of Judah, And his heads, and the remnant of Jerusalem, Who are left in this land, And who are dwelling in the land of Egypt,

9. ഞാന് ആളയച്ചു വടക്കുള്ള സകലവംശങ്ങളെയും എന്റെ ദാസനായി ബാബേല്രാജാവായ നെബൂഖദ് നേസരിനെയും ഈ ദേശത്തിന്റെ നേരെയും അതിലെ നിവാസികളുടെ നേരെയും ചുറ്റും വസിക്കുന്ന ഈ സകലജാതികളുടെ നേരെയും വരുത്തി അവരെ ഉന്മൂലനാശം ചെയ്തു സ്തംഭനഹേതുവും പരിഹാസവിഷയവും ശാശ്വതശൂന്യവുമാക്കിത്തിര്ക്കും.

9. And I have given them for a trembling, For evil -- to all kingdoms of the earth, For a reproach, and for a simile, For a byword, and for a reviling, In all the places whither I drive them.

10. ഞാന് ആനന്ദഘോഷവും സന്തോഷധ്വനിയും മണവാളന്റെ സ്വരവും മണവാട്ടിയുടെ സ്വരവും തിരികല്ലിന്റെ ഒച്ചയും വിളക്കിന്റെ വെളിച്ചവും അവരുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളയും.

10. And I have sent against them the sword, The famine and the pestilence, Till their consumption from off the ground, That I gave to them and to their fathers!
