1. നെബൂഖദ് നേസര്രാജാവു പൊന്നുകൊണ്ടു ഒരു ബിംബം ഉണ്ടാക്കി; അതിന്റെ ഉയരം അറുപതു മുഴവും വണ്ണം ആറു മുഴവും ആയിരുന്നു; അവന് അതിനെ ബാബേല്സംസ്ഥാനത്തു ദൂരാസമഭൂമിയില് നിര്ത്തി.

1. King Nabuchodonosor made a statue of gold, of sixty cubits high, and six cubits broad, and he set it up in the plain of Dura of the province of Babylon.

2. നെബൂഖദ് നേസര്രാജാവു പ്രധാനദേശാധിപന്മാരും സ്ഥാനാപതിമാരും ദേശാധിപന്മാരും ന്യായാധിപന്മാരും, ഭണ്ഡാരവിചാരകന്മാരും മന്ത്രിമാരും നഗരാധിപന്മാരും സകലസംസ്ഥാനപാലകന്മാരും നെബൂഖദ്നേസര്രാജാവു നിര്ത്തിയ ബിംബത്തിന്റെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠെക്കു വന്നുകൂടുവാന് ആളയച്ചു.

2. Then Nabuchodonosor the king sent to call together the nobles, the magistrates, and the judges, the captains, the rulers, and governors, and all the chief men of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the statue which king Nabuchodonosor had set up.

3. അങ്ങനെ പ്രധാനദേശാധിപന്മാരും സ്ഥാനാപതിമാരും ദേശാധിപന്മാരും ന്യായാധിപന്മാരും ഭണ്ഡാരവിചാരകന്മാരും മന്ത്രിമാരും നഗരാധിപന്മാരും സകലസംസ്ഥാനപാലകന്മാരും നെബൂഖദ്നേസര്രാജാവു നിര്ത്തിയ ബിംബത്തിന്റെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠെക്കു വന്നുകൂടി, നെബൂഖദ് നേസര് നിര്ത്തിയ ബിംബത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നിന്നു.

3. Then the nobles, the magistrates, and the judges, the captains, and rulers, and the great men that were placed in authority, and all the princes of the provinces, were gathered together to come to the dedication of the statue, which king Nabuchodonosor had set up. And they stood before the statue which king Nabuchodonosor had set up.

4. അപ്പോള് ഘോഷകന് ഉച്ചത്തില് വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞതുവംശങ്ങളും ജാതികളും ഭാഷക്കാരുമായുള്ളോരേ, നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നതെന്തെന്നാല്

4. Then a herald cried with a strong voice: To you it is commanded, O nations, tribes, and languages:

5. കാഹളം, കുഴല്, തംബുരു, കിന്നരം, വീണ, നാഗസ്വരം മുതലായ സകലവിധവാദ്യനാദവും കേള്ക്കുമ്പോള്, നിങ്ങള് വീണു, നെബൂഖദ്നേസര്രാജാവു നിര്ത്തിയിരിക്കുന്ന സ്വര്ണ്ണബിംബത്തെ നമസ്കരിക്കേണം

5. That in the hour that you shall hear the sound of the trumpet, and of the flute, and of the harp, of the sackbut, and of the psaltery, and of the symphony, and of all kind of music; ye fall down and adore the golden statue which king Nabuchodonosor hath set up.

6. ആരെങ്കിലും വീണു നമസ്കരിക്കാതെ ഇരുന്നാല്, അവനെ ആ നാഴികയില് തന്നേ, എരിയുന്ന തീച്ചൂളയില് ഇട്ടുകളയും.

6. But if any man shall not fall down and adore, he shall the same hour be cast into a furnace of burning fire.

7. അതുകൊണ്ടു സകലവംശങ്ങളും കാഹളം, കുഴല്, തംബുരു, കിന്നരം, വീണ മുതലായ സകലവിധ വാദ്യനാദവും കേട്ടപ്പോള് സകലവംശങ്ങളും ജാതികളും ഭാഷക്കാരും വീണു നെബൂഖദ് നേസര്രാജാവു നിര്ത്തിയ സ്വര്ണ്ണബിംബത്തെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

7. Upon this therefore, at the time when all the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the flute, and the harp, of the sackbut, and the psaltery, of the symphony, and of all kind of music: all the nations, tribes, and languages fell down and adored the golden statue which king Nabuchodonosor had set up.

8. എന്നാല് ആ സമയത്തു ചില കല്ദയര് അടുത്തുവന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാരെ കുറ്റം ചുമത്തി.

8. And presently at that very time some Chaldeans came and accused the Jews,

9. അവര് നെബൂഖദ് നേസര്രാജാവിനെ ബോധിപ്പിച്ചതുരാജാവു ദീര്ഘായുസ്സായിരിക്കട്ടെ!

9. And said to king Nabuchodonosor: O king, live for ever:

10. രാജാവേ, കാഹളം കുഴല്, തംബുരു, കിന്നരം, വീണ, നാഗസ്വരം മുതലായ സകലവിധ വാദ്യനാദവും കേള്ക്കുന്ന ഏവനും വീണു സ്വര്ണ്ണബിംബത്തെ നമസ്കരിക്കേണമെന്നും

10. Thou, O king, hast made a decree that every man that shall bear the sound of the trumpet, the flute, and the harp, of the sackbut, and the psaltery, of the symphony, and of all kind of music, shall prostrate himself, and adore the golden statue:

11. ആരെങ്കിലും വീണു നമസ്കരിക്കാതെയിരുന്നാല് അവനെ എരിയുന്ന തീച്ചൂളയില് ഇട്ടുകളയുമെന്നും ഒരു തീര്പ്പു കല്പിച്ചുവല്ലോ.

11. And that if any man shall not fall down and adore, he should be cast into a furnace of burning fire.

12. ബാബേല്സംസ്ഥാനത്തിലെ കാര്യാദികള്ക്കു മേല്വിചാരകന്മാരായി നിയമിച്ച ശദ്രക്, മേശക്, അബേദ്നെഗോ എന്ന ചില യെഹൂദന്മാരുണ്ടല്ലോഈ പുരുഷന്മാര് രാജാവിനെ കൂട്ടാക്കിയില്ല; അവര് തിരുമനസ്സിലെ ദേവന്മാരെ സേവിക്കയോ തിരുമനസ്സുകൊണ്ടു നിര്ത്തിയ സ്വര്ണ്ണ ബിംബത്തെ നമസ്കരിക്കയോ ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല.

12. Now there are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the works of the province of Babylon, Sidrach, Misach, and Abdenago: these men, O king, have slighted thy decree: they worship not thy gods, nor do they adore the golden statue which thou hast set up.

13. അപ്പോള് നെബൂഖദ്നേസര് ഉഗ്രകോപവും ക്രോധവും പൂണ്ടു ശദ്രക്കിനെയും മേശക്കിനെയും അബേദ്നെഗോവിനെയും കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു; ആ പുരുഷന്മാരെ രാജസന്നിധിയില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

13. Then Nabuchodonosor in fury, and in wrath, commanded that Sidrach, Misach, and Abdenago should be brought: who immediately were brought before the king.

14. നെബൂഖദ് നേസര് അവരോടു കല്പിച്ചതുശദ്രക്കേ, മേശക്കേ, അബേദ്നെഗോവേ, നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ ദേവന്മാരെ സേവിക്കയോ ഞാന് നിര്ത്തിയ സ്വര്ണ്ണബിംബത്തെ നമസ്കരിക്കയോ ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല എന്നുള്ളതു നേര്തന്നേയോ?

14. And Nabuchodonosor the king spoke to them, and said: Is it true, O Sidrach, Misach, and Abdenago, that you do not worship my gods, nor adore the golden statue that I have set up?

15. ഇപ്പോള് കാഹളം, കുഴല്, തംബുരു, കിന്നരം, വീണ, നാഗസ്വരം മുതലായ സകലവിധ വാദ്യനാദവും കേള്ക്കുന്ന സമയത്തു നിങ്ങള്, ഞാന് പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ച ബിംബത്തെ വീണു നമസ്കരിപ്പാന് ഒരുങ്ങിയിരുന്നാല് നന്നു; നമസ്കരിക്കാതെയിരുന്നാലോ ഈ നാഴികയില് തന്നേ നിങ്ങളെ എരിയുന്ന തീച്ചൂളയില് ഇട്ടുകളയും; നിങ്ങളെ എന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വിടുവിക്കാകുന്ന ദേവന് ആര്?

15. Now therefore if you be ready at what hour soever you shall hear the sound of the trumpet, flute, harp, sackbut, and psaltery, and symphony, and of all kind of music, prostrate yourselves, and adore the statue which I have made: but if you do not adore, you shall be cast the same hour into the furnace of burning fire: and who is the God that shall deliver you out of my hand?

16. ശദ്രക്കും മേശക്കും അബേദ്നെഗോവും രാജാവിനോടുനെബൂഖദ്നേസരേ, ഈ കാര്യത്തില് ഉത്തരം പറവാന് ആവശ്യമില്ല.

16. Sidrach, Misach, and Abdenago answered and said to king Nabuchodonosor: We have no occasion to answer thee concerning this matter.

17. ഞങ്ങള് സേവിക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ വിടുവിപ്പാന് കഴിയുമെങ്കില്, അവന് ഞങ്ങളെ എരിയുന്ന തീച്ചൂളയില്നിന്നും രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നും വിടുവിക്കും.

17. For behold our God, whom we worship, is able to save us from the furnace of burning fire, and to deliver us out of thy hands, O king.

18. അല്ലെങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങള് രാജാവിന്റെ ദേവന്മാരെ സേവിക്കയില്ല. രാജാവു നിര്ത്തിയ സ്വര്ണ്ണബിംബത്തെ നമസ്കരിക്കയുമില്ല എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞാലും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

18. But if he will not, be it known to thee, O king, that we will not worship thy gods, nor adore the golden statue which thou hast set up.

19. അപ്പോള് നെബൂഖദ് നേസരിന്നു കോപം മുഴുത്തു ശദ്രക്കിന്റെയും മേശക്കിന്റെയും അബേദ്നെഗോവിന്റെയും നേരെ മുഖഭാവം മാറി; ചൂള പതിവായി ചൂടുപിടിപ്പിച്ചതില് ഏഴുമടങ്ങു ചൂടുപിടിപ്പിപ്പാന് അവന് കല്പിച്ചു.

19. Then was Nabuchodonosor filled with fury: and the countenance of his face was changed against Sidrach, Misach, and Abdenago, and he commanded that the furnace should be heated seven times more than it had been accustomed to be heated.

20. അവന് തന്റെ സൈന്യത്തിലെ മഹാബലവാന്മാരായ ചില പുരുഷന്മാരോടു ശദ്രക്കിനെയും മേശക്കിനെയും അബേദ്നെഗോവെയും ബന്ധിച്ചു എരിയുന്ന തീച്ചൂളയില് ഇട്ടുകളവാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

20. And he commanded the strongest men that were in his army, to bind the feet of Sidrach, Misach, and Abdenago, and to cast them into the furnace of burning fire.

21. അങ്ങനെ അവര് ആ പുരുഷന്മാരെ, അവരുടെ കാല്ചട്ട, കുപ്പായം, മേലാട മുതലായ വസ്ത്രങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ബന്ധിച്ചു എരിയുന്ന തീച്ചൂളയില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

21. And immediately these men were bound and were cast into the furnace of burning fire, with their coats, and their caps, and their shoes, and their garments.

22. രാജകല്പന കര്ശനമായിരിക്കകൊണ്ടും ചൂള അത്യന്തം ചൂടായിരിക്കകൊണ്ടും ശദ്രക്കിനെയും മേശക്കിനെയും അബേദ്നെഗോവെയും എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയ പുരുഷന്മാരെ അഗ്നിജ്വാല ദഹിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

22. For the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace was heated exceedingly. And the flame of the fire slew those men that had cast in Sidrach, Misach, and Abdenago.

23. ശദ്രക്, മേശക്, അബേദ്നെഗോ എന്നീ മൂന്നു പുരുഷന്മാരോ ബന്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരായി എരിയുന്ന തീച്ചൂളയില് വീണു.

23. But these three men, that is, Sidrach, Misach, and Abdenago, fell down bound in the midst of the furnace of burning fire.

24. നെബൂഖദ്നേസര്രാജാവു ഭ്രമിച്ചു വേഗത്തില് എഴുന്നേറ്റു മന്ത്രിമാരോടുനാം മൂന്നു പുരുഷന്മാരെ അല്ലയോ ബന്ധിച്ചു തീയില് ഇട്ടതു ഇന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവര്സത്യം തന്നേ രാജാവേ എന്നു രാജാവിനോടു ഉണര്ത്തിച്ചു.

24. And they walked in the midst of the flame, praising God and blessing the Lord.

25. അതിന്നു അവന് നാലു പുരുഷന്മാര് കെട്ടഴിഞ്ഞു തീയില് നടക്കുന്നതു ഞാന് കാണുന്നു; അവര്ക്കും ഒരു കേടും തട്ടീട്ടില്ല; നാലാമത്തവന്റെ രൂപം ഒരു ദൈവപുത്രനോടു ഒത്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

25. Then Azarias standing up prayed in this manner, and opening his mouth in the midst of the fire, he said:

26. നെബൂഖദ് നേസര് എരിയുന്ന തീച്ചൂളയുടെ വാതില്ക്കല് അടുത്തു ചെന്നു; അത്യുന്നതദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരായ ശദ്രക്കേ, മേശക്കേ, അബേദ് നെഗോവേ, പുറത്തുവരുവിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ ശദ്രക്കും മേശക്കും അബേദ്നെഗോവും തീയില്നിന്നു പുറത്തുവന്നു.

26. Blessed art thou, O Lord, the God of our fathers, and thy name is worthy of praise, and glorious for ever:

27. പ്രധാനദേശാധിപതിമാരും സ്ഥാനാപതിമാരും ദേശാധിപതിമാരും രാജമന്ത്രിമാരും വന്നുകൂടി, ആ പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ ദേഹത്തിന്നു തീ പിടിക്കാതെയും അവരുടെ തലമുടി കരിയാതെയും കാല്ചട്ടെക്കു കേടു പറ്റാതെയും അവര്ക്കും തീയുടെ മണംപോലും തട്ടാതെയും ഇരുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

27. For thou art just in all that thou hast done to us, and all thy works are true, and thy ways right, and all thy judgments true.

28. അപ്പോള് നെബൂഖദ് നേസര് കല്പിച്ചതുശദ്രക്കിന്റെയും മേശക്കിന്റെയും അബേദ്നെഗോവിന്റെയും ദൈവം വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടവന് ; തങ്കല് ആശ്രയിക്കയും സ്വന്തദൈവത്തെയല്ലാതെ വേറൊരു ദൈവത്തെയും സേവിക്കയോ നമസ്കരിക്കയോ ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം രാജകല്പനക്കുടെ മറുത്തു തങ്ങളുടെ ദേഹത്തെ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുക്കയും ചെയ്ത തന്റെ ദാസന്മാരെ അവന് സ്വദൂതനെ അയച്ചു വിടുവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

28. For thou hast executed true judgments in all the things that thou hast brought upon us, and upon Jerusalem the holy city of our fathers: for according to truth and judgment, thou hast brought all these things upon us for our sins.

29. ഈ വിധത്തില് വിടുവിപ്പാന് കഴിയുന്ന മറ്റൊരു ദൈവവും ഇല്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു ഏതു ജാതിക്കാരിലും വംശക്കാരിലും ഭാഷക്കാരിലും ആരെങ്കിലും ശദ്രക്കിന്റെയും മേശക്കിന്റെയും അബേദ്നെഗോവിന്റെയും ദൈവത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി വല്ല തെറ്റും പറഞ്ഞാല് അവനെ കഷണംകഷണമായി ശകലിക്കയും അവന്റെ വീടു കുപ്പക്കുന്നാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുമെന്നു ഞാന് ഒരു വിധി കല്പിക്കുന്നു.

29. For we have sinned, and committed iniquity, departing from thee: and we have trespassed in all things:

30. പിന്നെ രാജാവു ശദ്രക്കിന്നും മേശക്കിന്നും അബേദ്നെഗോവിന്നും ബാബേല്സംസ്ഥാനത്തു സ്ഥാനമാനങ്ങള് കല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു

30. And we have not hearkened to thy commandments, nor have we observed nor done as thou hadst commanded us, that it might go well with us.
