1. യോനാ മത്സ്യത്തിന്റെ വയറ്റില്വെച്ചു തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the stomach of the fish

2. ഞാന് എന്റെ കഷ്ടതനിമിത്തം യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചു; അവന് എനിക്കു ഉത്തരം അരുളി; ഞാന് പാതാളത്തിന്റെ വയറ്റില്നിന്നു അയ്യം വിളിച്ചു; നീ എന്റെ നിലവളി കേട്ടു.

2. and said, 'I called out to the LORD from my distress, and he answered me; from the belly of Sheol I cried out for help, and you heard my prayer.

3. നീ എന്നെ സമുദ്രമദ്ധ്യേ ആഴത്തില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു; പ്രവാഹം എന്നെ ചുറ്റി നിന്റെ ഔളങ്ങളും തിരകളുമെല്ലാം എന്റെ മീതെ കടന്നുപോയി.

3. You threw me into the deep waters, into the middle of the sea; the ocean current engulfed me; all the mighty waves you sent swept over me.

4. നിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയില്നിന്നു എനിക്കു നീക്കം വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും ഞാന് നിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തിങ്കലേക്കു നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കും എന്നു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞു.

4. I thought I had been banished from your sight, that I would never again see your holy temple!

5. വെള്ളം പ്രാണനോളം എന്നെ വളഞ്ഞു, ആഴി എന്നെ ചുറ്റി, കടല്പുല്ലു എന്റെ തലപ്പാവായിരുന്നു.

5. Water engulfed me up to my neck; the deep ocean surrounded me; seaweed was wrapped around my head.

6. ഞാന് പര്വ്വതങ്ങളുടെ അടിവാരങ്ങളോളം ഇറങ്ങി, ഭൂമി തന്റെ ഔടാമ്പലുകളാല് എന്നെ സദാകാലത്തേക്കു അടെച്ചിരുന്നു. നീയോ, എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, എന്റെ പ്രാണനെ കുഴിയില്നിന്നു കയറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

6. I went down to the very bottoms of the mountains; the gates of the netherworld barred me in forever; but you brought me up from the Pit, O LORD, my God.

7. എന്റെ പ്രാണന് എന്റെ ഉള്ളില് ക്ഷീണിച്ചുപോയപ്പോള് ഞാന് യഹോവയെ ഔര്ത്തു എന്റെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന നിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തില് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് എത്തി.

7. When my life was ebbing away, I called out to the LORD, and my prayer came to your holy temple.

8. മിത്ഥ്യാബിംബങ്ങളെ ഭജിക്കുന്നവര് തങ്ങളോടു ദയാലുവായവനെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

8. Those who worship worthless idols forfeit the mercy that could be theirs.

9. ഞാനോ സ്തോത്രനാദത്തോടെ നിനക്കു യാഗം അര്പ്പിക്കും; നേര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു ഞാന് കഴിക്കും. രക്ഷ യഹോവയുടെ പക്കല്നിന്നു വരുന്നു.

9. But as for me, I promise to offer a sacrifice to you with a public declaration of praise; I will surely do what I have promised. Salvation belongs to the LORD!'

10. എന്നാല് യഹോവ മത്സ്യത്തോടു കല്പിച്ചിട്ടു അതു യോനയെ കരെക്കു ഛര്ദ്ദിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

10. Then the LORD commanded the fish and it disgorged Jonah on dry land.
