1. അവന് ഗന്നേസരെത്ത് തടാകത്തിന്റെ കരയില് നിലക്കുമ്പോള് പുരുഷാരം ദൈവവചനം കേള്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ തിക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കയില്

1. Once when he was standing on the shore of Lake Gennesaret, the crowd was pushing in on him to better hear the Word of God.

2. രണ്ടു പടകു കരെക്കു അടുത്തു നിലക്കുന്നതു അവന് കണ്ടു; അവയില് നിന്നു മീന് പിടിക്കാര് ഇറങ്ങി വല കഴുകുകയായിരുന്നു.

2. He noticed two boats tied up. The fishermen had just left them and were out scrubbing their nets.

3. ആ പടകുകളില് ശിമോന്നുള്ളതായ ഒന്നില് അവന് കയറി കരയില് നിന്നു അല്പം നീക്കേണം എന്നു അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ അവന് പടകില് ഇരുന്നു പുരുഷാരത്തെ ഉപദേശിച്ചു.

3. He climbed into the boat that was Simon's and asked him to put out a little from the shore. Sitting there, using the boat for a pulpit, he taught the crowd.

4. സംസാരിച്ചു തീര്ന്നപ്പോള് അവന് ശിമോനോടുആഴത്തിലേക്കു നീക്കി മീമ്പിടിത്തത്തിന്നു വല ഇറക്കുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. When he finished teaching, he said to Simon, 'Push out into deep water and let your nets out for a catch.'

5. അതിന്നു ശിമോന് നാഥാ, ഞങ്ങള് രാത്രി മുഴുവനും അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചിട്ടും ഒന്നും കിട്ടിയില്ല; എങ്കിലും നിന്റെ വാക്കിന്നു ഞാന് വല ഇറക്കാം എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

5. Simon said, 'Master, we've been fishing hard all night and haven't caught even a minnow. But if you say so, I'll let out the nets.'

6. അവര് അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തപ്പോള് പെരുത്തു മീന് കൂട്ടം അകപ്പെട്ടു വല കീറാറായി.

6. It was no sooner said than done--a huge haul of fish, straining the nets past capacity.

7. അവര് മറ്റെ പടകിലുള്ള കൂട്ടാളികള് വന്നു സഹായിപ്പാന് അവരെ മാടിവിളിച്ചു. അവര് വന്നു പടകു രണ്ടും മുങ്ങുമാറാകുവോളും നിറെച്ചു.

7. They waved to their partners in the other boat to come help them. They filled both boats, nearly swamping them with the catch.

8. ശിമോന് പത്രൊസ് അതു കണ്ടിട്ടു യേശുവിന്റെ കാല്ക്കല് വീണുകര്ത്താവേ, ഞാന് പാപിയായ മനുഷ്യന് ആകകൊണ്ടു എന്നെ വിട്ടുപോകേണമേ എന്നു പറഞഞു.

8. Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell to his knees before Jesus. 'Master, leave. I'm a sinner and can't handle this holiness. Leave me to myself.'

9. അവര്ക്കും ഉണ്ടായ മീമ്പിടിത്തത്തില് അവന്നു അവനോടു കൂടെയുള്ളവര്ക്കും എല്ലാവര്ക്കും സംഭ്രമം പിടിച്ചിരുന്നു.

9. When they pulled in that catch of fish, awe overwhelmed Simon and everyone with him.

10. ശിമോന്റെ കൂട്ടാളികളായ യാക്കോബ് യോഹന്നാന് എന്ന സെബെദിമക്കള്ക്കും അവ്വണ്ണം തന്നേ. യേശു ശിമോനോടുഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ ഇന്നു മുതല് നീ മനുഷ്യരെ പിടിക്കുന്നവന് ആകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. It was the same with James and John, Zebedee's sons, coworkers with Simon. Jesus said to Simon, 'There is nothing to fear. From now on you'll be fishing for men and women.'

11. പിന്നെ അവര് പടകുകളെ കരെക്കു അടുപ്പിച്ചിട്ടു സകലവും വിട്ടു അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ചു.

11. They pulled their boats up on the beach, left them, nets and all, and followed him.

12. അവന് ഒരു പട്ടണത്തില് ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള് കുഷ്ഠം നിറഞ്ഞോരു മനുഷ്യന് യേശുവിനെ കണ്ടു കവിണ്ണു വീണുകര്ത്താവേ, നിനക്കു മനസ്സുണ്ടെങ്കില് എന്നെ ശുദ്ധമാക്കുവാന് കഴിയും എന്നു അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

12. One day in one of the villages there was a man covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus he fell down before him in prayer and said, 'If you want to, you can cleanse me.'

13. യേശു കൈ നീട്ടി അവനെ തൊട്ടുഎനിക്കു മനസ്സുണ്ടു; ശുദ്ധമാക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഉടനെ കുഷ്ഠം വിട്ടു മാറി.

13. Jesus put out his hand, touched him, and said, 'I want to. Be clean.' Then and there his skin was smooth, the leprosy gone.

14. അവന് അവനോടുഇതു ആരോടും പറയരുതു; എന്നാല് പോയി നിന്നെത്തന്നേ പുരോഹിതന്നു കാണിച്ചു, അവര്ക്കും സാക്ഷ്യത്തിന്നായി മോശെ കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ നിന്റെ ശുദ്ധീകരണത്തിന്നുള്ള വഴിപാടു അര്പ്പിക്ക എന്നു അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചു.

14. Jesus instructed him, 'Don't talk about this all over town. Just quietly present your healed self to the priest, along with the offering ordered by Moses. Your cleansed and obedient life, not your words, will bear witness to what I have done.'

15. But the man couldn't keep it to himself, and the word got out. Soon a large crowd of people had gathered to listen and be healed of their ailments.

16. As often as possible Jesus withdrew to out-of-the-way places for prayer.

17. അവന് ഒരു ദിവസം ഉപദേശിക്കുമ്പോള് ഗലീലയിലും യെഹൂദ്യയിലുമുള്ള സകലഗ്രാമത്തില്നിന്നും യെരൂശലേമില്നിന്നും വന്ന പരീശന്മാരും ന്യായശാസ്ത്രിമാരും അവിടെ ഇരുന്നിരുന്നു. സൌഖ്യമാക്കുവാന് കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ശക്തി അവനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

17. One day as he was teaching, Pharisees and religion teachers were sitting around. They had come from nearly every village in Galilee and Judea, even as far away as Jerusalem, to be there. The healing power of God was on him.

18. അപ്പോള് ചില ആളുകള് പക്ഷവാതം പിടിച്ച ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ കിടക്കയില് എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവനെ അകത്തുകൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് വെപ്പാന് ശ്രമിച്ചു.

18. Some men arrived carrying a paraplegic on a stretcher. They were looking for a way to get into the house and set him before Jesus.

19. പുരുഷാരം ഹേതുവായി അവനെ അകത്തു കൊണ്ടുചെല്ലുവാന് വഴി കാണാഞ്ഞിട്ടു പുരമേല് കയറി ഔടു നീക്കി അവനെ കിടക്കയോടെ നടുവില് യേശുവിന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഇറക്കിവെച്ചു.

19. When they couldn't find a way in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof, removed some tiles, and let him down in the middle of everyone, right in front of Jesus.

20. അവരുടെ വിശ്വാസം കണ്ടിട്ടു. അവന് മനുഷ്യാ, നിന്റെ പാപങ്ങള് മോചിച്ചുതന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. Impressed by their bold belief, he said, 'Friend, I forgive your sins.'

21. ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും പരീശന്മാരുംദൈവദൂഷണം പറയുന്ന ഇവന് ആര്? ദൈവം ഒരുവന് അല്ലാതെ പാപങ്ങളെ മോചിപ്പാന് കഴിയുന്നവന് ആര് എന്നു ചിന്തിച്ചുതുടങ്ങി.

21. That set the religion scholars and Pharisees buzzing. 'Who does he think he is? That's blasphemous talk! God and only God can forgive sins.'

22. യേശു അവരുടെ ചിന്തകളെ അറിഞ്ഞു അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് ഹൃദയത്തില് ചിന്തിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു?

22. Jesus knew exactly what they were thinking and said, 'Why all this gossipy whispering?

23. Which is simpler: to say 'I forgive your sins,' or to say 'Get up and start walking'?

24. എങ്കിലും ഭൂമിയില് പാപങ്ങളെ മോചിപ്പാന് മനുഷ്യപുത്രന്നു അധികാരം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു - അവന് പക്ഷവാതക്കാരനോടുഎഴുന്നേറ്റു കിടക്ക എടുത്തു വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോക എന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. Well, just so it's clear that I'm the Son of Man and authorized to do either, or both. . . .' He now spoke directly to the paraplegic: 'Get up. Take your bedroll and go home.'

25. Without a moment's hesitation, he did it--got up, took his blanket, and left for home, giving glory to God all the way.

26. എല്ലാവരും വിസ്മയംപൂണ്ടു ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തി ഭയം നിറഞ്ഞവരായിഇന്നു നാം അപൂര്വ്വ കാര്യങ്ങളെ കണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. The people rubbed their eyes, incredulous--and then also gave glory to God. Awestruck, they said, 'We've never seen anything like that!'

27. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം അവന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു, ലേവി എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു ചുങ്കകാരന് ചുങ്കസ്ഥലത്തു ഇരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു; എന്നെ അനുഗമിക്ക എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. After this he went out and saw a man named Levi at his work collecting taxes. Jesus said, 'Come along with me.'

28. അവന് സകലവും വിട്ടു എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ചു.

28. And he did--walked away from everything and went with him.

29. ലേവി തന്റെ വീട്ടില് അവന്നു ഒരു വലിയ വിരുന്നു ഒരുക്കി; ചുങ്കക്കാരും മറ്റും വലിയോരു പുരുഷാരം അവരോടുകൂടെ പന്തിയില് ഇരുന്നു.

29. Levi gave a large dinner at his home for Jesus. Everybody was there, tax men and other disreputable characters as guests at the dinner.

30. പരീശന്മാരും അവരുടെ ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടുനിങ്ങള് ചുങ്കക്കാരോടും പാപികളോടും കൂടെ തിന്നുകുടിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു പിറുപിറുത്തു.

30. The Pharisees and their religion scholars came to his disciples greatly offended. 'What is he doing eating and drinking with crooks and 'sinners'?'

31. യേശു അവരോടുദീനക്കാര്ക്കല്ലാതെ സൌഖ്യമുള്ളവര്ക്കും വൈദ്യനെക്കൊണ്ടു ആവശ്യമില്ല;

31. Jesus heard about it and spoke up, 'Who needs a doctor: the healthy or the sick?

32. ഞാന് നീതിമാന്മാരെ അല്ല പാപികളെ അത്രേ മാനസാന്തരത്തിന്നു വിളിപ്പാന് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

32. I'm here inviting outsiders, not insiders--an invitation to a changed life, changed inside and out.'

33. അവര് അവനോടുയോഹന്നാന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര് കൂടക്കൂടെ ഉപവസിച്ചു പ്രാര്ത്ഥനകഴിച്ചുവരുന്നു; പരീശന്മാരുടെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരും അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചെയ്യുന്നു; നിന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോ തിന്നുകയും കുടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

33. They asked him, 'John's disciples are well-known for keeping fasts and saying prayers. Also the Pharisees. But you seem to spend most of your time at parties. Why?'

34. യേശു അവരോടുമണവാളന് തോഴ്മക്കാരോടുകൂടെ ഉള്ളപ്പോള് അവരെ ഉപവാസം ചെയ്യിപ്പാന് കഴിയുമോ?

34. Jesus said, 'When you're celebrating a wedding, you don't skimp on the cake and wine. You feast. Later you may need to pull in your belt, but this isn't the time. As long as the bride and groom are with you, you have a good time.

35. മണവാളന് അവരെ വിട്ടുപിരിയേണ്ടുന്ന കാലം വരും; അന്നു, ആ കാലത്തു, അവര് ഉപവസിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

35. When the groom is gone, the fasting can begin. No one throws cold water on a friendly bonfire. This is Kingdom Come!

36. ഒരു ഉപമയും അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞുആരും കോടിത്തുണിക്കണ്ടം കീറിയെടുത്തു പഴയവസ്ത്രത്തോടു ചേര്ത്തു തുന്നുമാറില്ല. തുന്നിയാലോ പുതിയതു കീറുകയും പുതിയകണ്ടം പഴയതിനോടു ചേരാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

36. No one cuts up a fine silk scarf to patch old work clothes; you want fabrics that match.

37. ആരും പുതുവീഞ്ഞു പഴയതുരുത്തിയില് പകരുമാറില്ല, പകര്ന്നാല് പുതുവീഞ്ഞു തുരുത്തിയെ പൊളിച്ചു ഒഴുകിപ്പോകും; തുരുത്തിയും നശിച്ചുപോകും;

37. And you don't put wine in old, cracked bottles;

38. പുതുവീഞ്ഞു പുതിയതുരുത്തിയില് അത്രേ പകര്ന്നുവെക്കേണ്ടതു.

38. you get strong, clean bottles for your fresh vintage wine.

39. പിന്നെ പഴയതു കുടിച്ചിട്ടു ആരും പുതിയതു ഉടനെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ല; പഴയതു ഏറെ നല്ലതു എന്നു പറയും.

39. And no one who has ever tasted fine aged wine prefers unaged wine.'
