1. പരീശന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഒരു പ്രമാണിയായി നിക്കോദേമൊസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു മനുഷ്യന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

1. There was a man named Nicodemus. He was a proud religious law-keeper and a leader of the Jews.

2. അവന് രാത്രിയില് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു അവനോടുറബ്ബീ, നീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കല് നിന്നു ഉപദേഷ്ടാവായി വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നു; ദൈവം തന്നോടു കൂടെ ഇല്ലെങ്കില് നീ ചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ അടയാളങ്ങളെ ചെയ്വാന് ആര്ക്കും കഴികയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. He came to Jesus at night and said, 'Teacher, we know You have come from God to teach us. No one can do these powerful works You do unless God is with Him.'

3. യേശു അവനോടുആമേന് , ആമേന് , ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു; പുതുതായി ജനിച്ചില്ല എങ്കില് ദൈവരാജ്യം കാണ്മാന് ആര്ക്കും കഴിയകയില്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

3. Jesus said to him, 'For sure, I tell you, unless a man is born again, he cannot see the holy nation of God.'

4. നിക്കോദെമൊസ് അവനോടുമനുഷ്യന് വൃദ്ധനായശേഷം ജനിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ? രണ്ടാമതും അമ്മയുടെ ഉദരത്തില് കടന്നു ജനിക്കാമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

4. Nicodemus said to Him, 'How can a man be born when he is old? How can he get into his mother's body and be born the second time?'

5. അതിന്നു യേശുആമേന് , ആമേന് , ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നുവെള്ളത്താലും ആത്മാവിനാലും ജനിച്ചില്ല എങ്കില് ദൈവരാജ്യത്തില് കടപ്പാന് ആര്ക്കും കഴികയില്ല.

5. Jesus answered, 'For sure, I tell you, unless a man is born of water and of the Spirit of God, he cannot get into the holy nation of God.

6. ജഡത്താല് ജനിച്ചതു ജഡം ആകുന്നു; ആത്മാവിനാല് ജനിച്ചതു ആത്മാവു ആകുന്നു.

6. Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh. Whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7. നിങ്ങള് പുതുതായി ജനിക്കേണം എന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറകയാല് ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെടരുതു.

7. 'Do not be surprised that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'

8. കാറ്റു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളേടത്തു ഊതുന്നു; അതിന്റെ ശബ്ദം നീ കേള്ക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും അതു എവിടെനിന്നു വരുന്നു എന്നും എവിടേക്കു പോകുന്നു എന്നും അറിയുന്നില്ല; ആത്മാവിനാല് ജനിച്ചവന് എല്ലാം അതുപോലെ ആകുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

8. The wind blows where it wants to and you hear its sound. You do not know where it comes from or where it goes. It is the same with everyone who is born of the Spirit of God.'

9. നിക്കോദേമൊസ് അവനോടുഇതു എങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കും എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

9. Nicodemus said to Him, 'How can this be?'

10. യേശു അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതുനീ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ഉപദേഷ്ടാവായിരുന്നിട്ടും ഇതു അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ?

10. Jesus said, 'Are you a teacher among the Jews and do not know these things?

11. ആമേന് , ആമേന് , ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നുഞങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നതു പ്രസ്താവിക്കയും കണ്ടതു സാക്ഷീകരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നുഞങ്ങളുടെ സാക്ഷ്യം നിങ്ങള് കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നില്ലതാനും.
യെശയ്യാ 55:4

11. For sure, I tell you, We are talking about things We know. We tell of what We have seen. Yet you do not take Our words to be true.

12. ഭൂമിയിലുള്ളതു നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു നിങ്ങള് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നില്ലെങ്കില് സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തിലുള്ളതു നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞാല് എങ്ങനെ വിശ്വസിക്കും?

12. I tell you about things of the earth and you do not believe them. How will you believe if I tell you things about heaven?

13. സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവന്ന (വനായി സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്നവനായ) മനുഷ്യപുത്രന് അല്ലാതെ ആരും സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് കയറീട്ടില്ല.

13. No one has gone up into heaven except the One Who came down from heaven. That One is the Son of Man *Who is in heaven.

14. As Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up.

15. അവനില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ഏവനും നിത്യജീവന് പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

15. Then whoever puts his trust in Him will have life that lasts forever.

16. തന്റെ ഏകജാതനായ പുത്രനില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ഏവനും നശിച്ചുപോകാതെ നിത്യജീവന് പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ദൈവം അവനെ നലകുവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ലോകത്തെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു.

16. For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son. Whoever puts his trust in God's Son will not be lost but will have life that lasts forever.

17. ദൈവം തന്റെ പുത്രനെ ലോകത്തില് അയച്ചതു ലോകത്തെ വിധിപ്പാനല്ല ലോകം അവനാല് രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുവാനത്രേ.

17. For God did not send His Son into the world to say it is guilty. He sent His Son so the world might be saved from the punishment of sin by Him.

18. അവനില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന്നു ന്യായവിധി ഇല്ല; വിശ്വസിക്കാത്തവന്നു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഏകജതാനായ പുത്രന്റെ നാമത്തില് വിശ്വസിക്കായ്കയാല് ന്യായവിധി വന്നുകഴിഞ്ഞു.

18. Whoever puts his trust in His Son is not guilty. Whoever does not put his trust in Him is guilty already. It is because he does not put his trust in the name of the only Son of God.

19. ന്യായവിധി എന്നതോ, വെളിച്ചം ലോകത്തില് വന്നിട്ടും മനുഷ്യരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തി ദോഷമുള്ളതു ആകയാല് അവര് വെളിച്ചത്തെക്കാള് ഇരുളിനെ സ്നേഹിച്ചതു തന്നേ.

19. 'The Light has come into the world. And the light is the test by which men are guilty or not. People love darkness more than the light because the things they do are sinful.

20. തിന്മ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നവന് എല്ലാം വെളിച്ചത്തെ പകെക്കുന്നു; തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിക്കു ആക്ഷേപം വരാതിരിപ്പാന് വെളിച്ചത്തിങ്കലേക്കു വരുന്നതുമില്ല.

20. Everyone who sins hates the Light. He stays away from the Light because his sin would be found out.

21. സത്യം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നവനോ, തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി ദൈവത്തില് ചെയ്തിരിക്കയാല് അതു വെളിപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു വെളിച്ചത്തിങ്കലേക്കു വരുന്നു.

21. The man who does what is right comes to the Light. What he does will be seen because he has done what God wanted him to do.'

22. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം യേശു ശിഷ്യന്മാരുമായി യെഹൂദ്യദേശത്തു വന്നു അവരോടുകൂടെ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

22. After this, Jesus and His followers came into the country of Judea. He stayed with them there and baptized people.

23. യോഹന്നാനും ശലേമിന്നു അരികത്തു ഐനോനില് സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; അവിടെ വളരെ വെള്ളം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ആളുകള് വന്നു സ്നാനം ഏറ്റു.

23. John was baptizing in the town of Aenon near Salim. There was much water there and people were coming to be baptized.

24. അന്നു യോഹന്നാനെ തടവില് ആക്കിയിരുന്നില്ല.

24. John had not been put in prison yet.

25. യോഹന്നാന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരില് ചിലര്ക്കും ഒരു യെഹൂദനുമായി ശുദ്ധീകരണത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ഒരു വാദം ഉണ്ടായി;

25. Then some of the followers of John and a Jew started to argue about the religious washing of the Jewish worship.

26. അവര് യോഹന്നാന്റെ അടുക്കല്വന്നു അവനോടുറബ്ബീ, യോര്ദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നവന് , നീ സാക്ഷീകരിച്ചുട്ടുള്ളവന് തന്നേ, ഇതാ, സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; എല്ലാവരും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. They came to John and said to him, 'Teacher, the One with you on the other side of the Jordan River is baptizing also. He is the One you told of. Everyone is going to Him.'

27. അതിന്നു യോഹന്നാന് സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് നിന്നു കൊടുത്തിട്ടല്ലാതെ മനുഷ്യന്നു ഒന്നും ലഭിപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല.

27. John said, 'A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.

28. ഞാന് ക്രിസ്തു അല്ല, അവന്നു മുമ്പായി അയക്കപ്പെട്ടവനത്രേ എന്നു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് തന്നേ എനിക്കു സാക്ഷികള് ആകുന്നു;

28. You heard the words that I said, 'I am not the Christ, but I have been sent before Him.'

29. മണവാട്ടി ഉള്ളവന് മണവാളന് ആകുന്നു; മണവാളന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനോ നിന്നു മണവാളന്റെ സ്വരം കേട്ടിട്ടു അത്യന്തം സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു; ഈ എന്റെ സന്തോഷം പൂര്ത്തിയായിരിക്കുന്നു.

29. The man who has just been married has the bride. The friend of the man just married stands at his side and listens to him. He has joy when he hears the voice of the man just married. I am full of this joy.

30. അവന് വളരേണം, ഞാനോ കുറയേണം എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

30. He must become more important. I must become less important.

31. മേലില് നിന്നു വരുന്നവന് എല്ലാവര്ക്കും മീതെയുള്ളവന് ; ഭൂമിയില് നിന്നുള്ളവന് ഭൌമികന് ആകുന്നു; ഭൌമികമായതു സംസാരിക്കുന്നു; സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില്നിന്നു വരുന്നവന് എല്ലാവര്ക്കും മീതെയുള്ളവനായി താന് കാണ്കെയും കേള്ക്കയും ചെയ്തതു സാക്ഷീകരിക്കുന്നു;

31. 'He Who comes from above is above all. He who comes from the earth is of the earth and speaks of the earth. He Who comes from heaven is above all.

32. അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യം ആരും കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നില്ല.
യെശയ്യാ 55:4

32. He tells of what He has seen and heard. But no one believes what He says.

33. അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യം കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നവന് ദൈവം സത്യവാന് എന്നുള്ളതിന്നു മുദ്രയിടുന്നു.

33. Whoever receives His words proves that God is true.

34. ദൈവം അയച്ചവന് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വചനം പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നു; അവന് ആത്മാവിനെ അളവുകൂടാതെയല്ലോ കൊടുക്കുന്നതു.

34. He was sent by God and He speaks God's Word. God gives Him all of His Spirit.

35. പിതാവു പുത്രനെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു; സകലവും അവന്റെ കയ്യില് കൊടുത്തുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

35. The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand.

36. പുത്രനില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന്നു നിത്യജീവന് ഉണ്ടു; പുത്രനെ അനുസരിക്കാത്തവനോ ജീവനെ കാണുകയില്ല; ദൈവക്രോധം അവന്റെമേല് വസിക്കുന്നതേയുള്ള.

36. He who puts his trust in the Son has life that lasts forever. He who does not put his trust in the Son will not have life, but the anger of God is on him.'
