1. ആ കാലത്തു ഹെരോദാരാജാവു സഭയില് ചിലരെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു കൈ നീട്ടി.

1. In that time Herod the king layed(streched forth his) hands on(to vex) certain of the congregation, to vex them.

2. യോഹന്നാന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യാക്കോബിനെ അവന് വാള്കൊണ്ടു കൊന്നു.

2. And he killed James the brother of John with a(the) sword:

3. അതു യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും പ്രസാദമായി എന്നു കണ്ടു അവന് പത്രൊസിനെയും പിടിച്ചു. അപ്പോള് പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പത്തിന്റെ പെരുനാള് ആയിരുന്നു.

3. and because he saw that it pleased the jews, he proceeded further, to take(took) Peter also. Then were the days of unleavened(sweet) bread,

4. അവനെ പിടിച്ചശേഷം പെസഹ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ജനത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിറുത്തുവാന് ഭാവിച്ചു തടവിലാക്കി അവനെ കാപ്പാന് നന്നാലു ചേവകര് ഉള്ള നാലു കൂട്ടത്തിന്നു ഏല്പിച്ചു.

4. and when he had caught him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to be kept, intending after ester to bring him forth to the people.

5. ഇങ്ങനെ പത്രൊസിനെ തടവില് സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവരുമ്പോള് സഭ ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ അവന്നുവേണ്ടി ദൈവത്തോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥന കഴിച്ചുപോന്നു.

5. Then was Peter kept in prison. But prayer was made without ceasing of the congregation unto God for him.

6. ഹെരോദാവു അവനെ ജനത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിറുത്തുവാന് ഭാവിച്ചതിന്റെ തലെരാത്രിയില് പത്രൊസ് രണ്ടു ചങ്ങലയാല് ബന്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടവനായി രണ്ടു പടയാളികളുടെ നടുവില് ഉറങ്ങുകയായിരുന്നു; വാതിലിന്റെ മുമ്പില് കാവല്ക്കാര് കാരാഗൃഹം കാത്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

6. (And) When Herod would have brought him out unto the people, the same night slept Peter between two soldiers, bound with two chains; And the keepers before the door kept the prison.

7. പെട്ടെന്നു കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന് അവിടെ പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി, അറയില് ഒരു വെളിച്ചം പ്രകാശിച്ചു. അവന് പത്രൊസിനെ വിലാപ്പുറത്തു തട്ടിവേഗം എഴുന്നേല്ക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ ഉണര്ത്തി; ഉടനെ അവന്റെ ചങ്ങല കൈമേല് നിന്നു വീണു പോയി.

7. And behold the angel of the Lord was there present, and a light shined in the lodge. And he smote Peter on the side, and stirred(waked) him up saying: arise up quickly. And the(his) chains fell off from his hands.

8. ദൂതന് അവനോടുഅര കെട്ടി ചെരിപ്പു ഇട്ടു മുറുക്കുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തു; നിന്റെ വസ്ത്രം പുതെച്ചു എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. And the angel said unto him: gird thyself and bind on thy sandals; And so he did. And he said unto him: cast on thy mantle about thee, and follow me.

9. അവന് പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു, ദൂതന് മുഖാന്തരം സംഭവിച്ചതു വാസ്തവം എന്നു അറിയാതെ താന് ഒരു ദര്ശനം കാണുന്നു എന്നു നിരൂപിച്ചു.

9. And he came out and followed him, and wist not, that it was truth which was done by the angel, but thought he had seen a vision.

10. അവര് ഒന്നാം കാവലും രണ്ടാമത്തേതും കടന്നു പട്ടണത്തില് ചെല്ലുന്ന ഇരിമ്പു വാതില്ക്കല് എത്തി. അതു അവര്ക്കും സ്വതവെ തുറന്നു; അവര് പുറത്തിറങ്ങി ഒരു തെരുവു കടന്നു, ഉടനെ ദൂതന് അവനെ വിട്ടുപോയി.

10. When they were past the first and the second watch, they came unto the iron gate, that leadeth unto the city, which opened to them by his own accord. And they went out and passed thorow one street, and by and by the angel departed from him.

11. പത്രൊസിന്നു സുബോധം വന്നിട്ടു കര്ത്താവു തന്റെ ദൂതനെ അയച്ചു ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നും യെഹൂദജനത്തിന്റെ സകല പ്രതീക്ഷിയില്നിന്നും എന്നെ വിടുവിച്ചു എന്നു ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള് വാസ്തവമായി അറിയുന്നു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

11. And when Peter was come to himself, he said: now I know of a surety,(trueth) that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me from(out of) the hand of Herod, and from all the waiting for of the people of the jews.

12. ഇങ്ങനെ ഗ്രഹിച്ച ശേഷം അവന് മര്ക്കൊസ് എന്നു മറുപേരുള്ള യോഹന്നാന്റെ അമ്മ മറിയയുടെ വീട്ടില് ചെന്നു. അവിടെ അനേകര് ഒരുമിച്ചു കൂടി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചുകെണ്ടിരുന്നു.

12. And as he considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of one John, which was called Mark also, where many were gathered together in prayer.

13. അവന് പടിപ്പുരവാതില്ക്കല് മുട്ടിയാറെ രോദാ എന്നൊരു ബാല്യക്കാരത്തി വിളികേള്പ്പാന് അടുത്തുവന്നു.

13. As Peter knocked at the entry door, a damsel came forth to hearken, named Rhoda.

14. പത്രൊസിന്റെ ശബ്ദം തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞു, സന്തോഷത്താല് പടിവാതില് തുറക്കാതെ അകത്തേക്കു ഔടി, പത്രൊസ് പടിപ്പുരെക്കല് നിലക്കുന്നുഎന്നു അറിയിച്ചു.

14. And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the entry for gladness, but ran in and told how Peter stood before the entry.

15. അവര് അവളോടുനിനക്കു ഭ്രാന്തുണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അവളോഅല്ല, ഉള്ളതു തന്നേ എന്നു ഉറപ്പിച്ചുപറയുമ്പോള് അവന്റെ ദൂതന് ആകുന്നു എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And they said unto her: thou art mad. And she bare them down that it was even so. Then said they: it is his angel.

16. പത്രൊസ് മുട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; അവര് തുറന്നപ്പോള് അവനെ കണ്ടു വിസ്മയിച്ചു.

16. Peter continued knocking: When they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonied.

17. അവര് മിണ്ടാതിരിപ്പാന് അവന് ആംഗ്യം കാട്ടി, കര്ത്താവു തന്നെ തടവില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ച വിവരം പറഞ്ഞു കേള്പ്പിച്ചു; ഇതു യാക്കോബിനോടും ശേഷം സഹോദരന്മാരോടും അറിയിപ്പിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; പിന്നെ അവന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു വേറൊരു സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു പോയി.

17. (And) He beckoned unto them with his(the) hand to hold their peace, and told them by what means the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And (he) said: go shew this(these things) unto James and to the brethren. And he departed and went into another place.

18. നേരം വെളുത്തപ്പോള് പത്രൊസ് എവിടെ പോയി എന്നു പടയാളികള്ക്കു അല്പമല്ലാത്ത പരിഭ്രമം ഉണ്ടായി

18. As soon as it was day there was no little ado among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.

19. ഹെരോദാവു അവനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചിട്ടു കാണായ്കയാല് കാവല്ക്കാരെ വിസ്തരിച്ചു അവരെ കൊല്ലുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു; പിന്നെ അവന് യെഹൂദ്യ വിട്ടു കൈസര്യയിലേക്കു പോയി അവിടെ പാര്ത്തു.

19. When Herod had called for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded(them) to depart. And he descended from Jewry to Cesarea, and there abode.

20. അവന് സോര്യരുടെയും സിദോന്യരുടെയും നേരെ ക്രുദ്ധിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോള് രാജാവിന്റെ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ ദേശത്തിന്നു ആഹാരം കിട്ടിവരികയാല് അവര് ഏകമനസ്സോടെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു, രാജാവിന്റെ പള്ളിയറക്കാരനായ ബ്ളസ്തൊസിനെ വശത്താക്കി സന്ധിക്കായി അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

20. Herod was displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon. And they came all at once,(came unto him with one accord) and made intercession unto Blastus the king's chamberlain, and desired peace, because their country was nourished by the king's land.

21. നിശ്ചയിച്ച ദിവസത്തില് ഹെരോദാവു രാജവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു ഭദ്രാസനത്തില് ഇരുന്നു അവരോടു പ്രസംഗം കഴിച്ചു.

21. (And) Upon a day appointed, the king(Herod) arrayed him in royal apparel, and set him in his seat, and made an oration unto them.

22. ഇതു മനുഷ്യന്റെ ശബ്ദമല്ല ഒരു ദേവന്റെ ശബ്ദം അത്രേ എന്നു ജനം ആര്ത്തു.
യേഹേസ്കേൽ 28:2

22. And the people gave a shout, saying: It is the voice of a God and not of a man.

23. അവന് ദൈവത്തിന്നു മഹത്വം കൊടുക്കായ്കയാല് കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന് ഉടനെ അവനെ അടിച്ചു, അവന് കൃമിക്കു ഇരയായി പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടു.

23. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the honour, and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

24. എന്നാല് ദൈവ വചനം മേലക്കുമേല് പരന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

24. (And) The word of God grew and multiplied.

25. ബര്ന്നാബാസും ശൌലും ശുശ്രൂഷ നിവര്ത്തിച്ച ശേഷം മര്ക്കൊസ് എന്നു മറു പേരുള്ള യോഹന്നാനെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു യെരൂശലേം വിട്ടു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു.

25. And Barnabas and Saul(Paul) returned to Jerusalem, and(when they had) fulfilled their office, and took with them John, which was also called Marcus.
