1. ഫെസ്തൊസ് സംസ്ഥാനത്തില് വന്നിട്ടു മൂന്നു നാള് കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം കൈസര്യയില് നിന്നു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു പോയി..

1. Three days after Festus arrived, he went up from Caesarea to Jerusalem.

2. അപ്പോള് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ പ്രധാനികളും പൌലൊസിന്റെ നേരെ അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് അന്യായം ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു;

2. There the chief priests and Jewish leaders came to him and brought their charges against Paul.

3. ദയചെയ്തു അവനെ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു വരുത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു അവര് പൌലൊസിന്നു പ്രതിക്കുലമായി അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു;

3. They tried to get Festus to have Paul taken to Jerusalem. They asked for this as a favor. They were planning to hide and attack Paul along the way. They wanted to kill him.

4. വഴിയില്വെച്ചു അവനെ ഒടുക്കിക്കളവാന് അവര് ഒരു പതിയിരിപ്പുനിര്ത്തി. അതിന്നു ഫെസ്തൊസ്പൌലൊസിനെ കൈസര്യയില് സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് വേഗം അവിടേക്കു പോകുന്നുണ്ടു;

4. Festus answered, 'Paul is being held at Caesarea. Soon I'll be going there myself.

5. നിങ്ങളില് പ്രാപ്തിയുള്ളവര് കൂടെ വന്നു ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ നേരെ അന്യായം ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് ബോധിപ്പിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

5. Let some of your leaders come with me. If the man has done anything wrong, they can bring charges against him there.'

6. അവന് ഏകദേശം എട്ടു പത്തു ദിവസം അവരുടെ ഇടയില് താമസിച്ചശേഷം കൈസര്യകൂ മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി; പിറ്റെന്നു ന്യായാസനത്തില് ഇരുന്നു പൌലൊസിനെ വരുത്തുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

6. Festus spent eight or ten days in Jerusalem with them. Then he went down to Caesarea. The next day he called the court together. He ordered Paul to be brought to him.

7. അവന് വന്നാറെ യെരൂശലേമില് നിന്നു വന്ന യെഹൂദന്മാര് ചുറ്റും നിന്നു അവന്റെ നേരെ കഠിനകുറ്റം പലതും ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

7. When Paul arrived, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him. They brought many strong charges against him. But they couldn't prove them.

8. പൌലൊസോയെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തോടാകട്ടെ ദൈവാലയത്തോടാകട്ടെ കൈസരോടാകട്ടെ ഞാന് ഒരു കുറ്റവും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പ്രതിവാദിച്ചാറെ ആ കുറ്റങ്ങളെ തെളിയിപ്പാന് അവര്ക്കും കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

8. Then Paul spoke up for himself. He said, 'I've done nothing wrong against the law of the Jews or against the temple. I've done nothing wrong against Caesar.'

9. എന്നാല് ഫെസ്തൊസ് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ പ്രീതി സമ്പാദിപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിച്ചു പൌലൊസിനോടുയെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു ചെന്നു അവിടെ എന്റെ മുമ്പില്വെച്ചു ഈ സംഗതികളെക്കുറിച്ചു വിസ്താരംനടപ്പാന് നിനക്കു സമ്മതമുണ്ടോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു പൌലൊസ് ഞാന് കൈസരുടെ ന്യായാസനത്തിന്നു മുമ്പാകെ നിലക്കുന്നു;

9. But Festus wanted to do the Jews a favor. So he said to Paul, 'Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem? Are you willing to go on trial there? Are you willing to face these charges in my court?'

10. അവിടെ എന്നെ വിസ്രിക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു; യെഹൂദന്മാരോടു ഞാന് ഒരു അന്യായവും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല; അതു നീയും നല്ലവണ്ണം അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

10. Paul answered, 'I'm already standing in Caesar's court. This is where I should go on trial. I haven't done anything wrong to the Jews. You yourself know that very well.

11. ഞാന് അന്യായം ചെയ്തു മരണയോഗ്യമായതു വല്ലതും പ്രവൃത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കില് മരണശിക്ഷ ഏലക്കുന്നതിന്നു എനിക്കു വിരോധമില്ല. ഇവര് എന്റെനേരെ ബോധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന അന്യായം നേരല്ല എന്നു വരികിലോ എന്നെ അവര്ക്കും ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുപ്പാന് ആര്ക്കും കഴിയുന്നതല്ല;

11. If I am guilty of anything worthy of death, I'm willing to die. But the charges brought against me by these Jews are not true. No one has the right to hand me over to them. I make my appeal to Caesar!'

12. ഞാന് കൈസരെ അഭയംചൊല്ലുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള് ഫെസ്തൊസ് തന്റെ ആലോചന സഭയോടു സംസാരിച്ചിട്ടുകൈസരെ നീ അഭയം ചൊല്ലിയിരിക്കുന്നു; കൈസരുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കു നീ പോകും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

12. Festus talked it over with the members of his court. Then he said, 'You have made an appeal to Caesar. To Caesar you will go!'

13. ഒട്ടുനാള് കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം അഗ്രിപ്പാരാജാവും ബെര്ന്നീക്കയും ഫെസ്തോസിനെ വന്ദനം ചെയ്വാന് കൈസര്യയില് എത്തി.

13. A few days later King Agrippa and Bernice arrived in Caesarea. They came to pay a visit to Festus.

14. കുറെ നാള് അവിടെ പാര്ക്കുംമ്പോള് ഫെസ്തൊസ് പൌലൊസിന്റെ സംഗതി രാജാവിനോടു വിവരിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതുഫേലിക്സ് വിട്ടേച്ചുപോയോരു തടവുകാരന് ഉണ്ടു.

14. They were spending many days there. So Festus talked with the king about Paul's case. He said, 'There's a man here that Felix left as a prisoner.

15. ഞാന് യെരൂശലേമില് ചെന്നപ്പോള് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ മഹാപുരോഹീതന്മാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരും എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു അവന്റെ നേരെ അന്യായം ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു. വിധിക്കു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

15. When I went to Jerusalem, the Jewish chief priests and the elders brought charges against the man. They wanted him to be found guilty.

16. എന്നാല് പ്രതിവാദികളെ അഭിമുഖമായി കണ്ടു അന്യായത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു പ്രതിവാദിപ്പാന് ഇടകിട്ടുംമുമ്പെ യാതൊരു മനുഷ്യനെയും ഏല്പിച്ചു കൊടുക്കുന്നതു റോമക്കാര്ക്കും മര്യാദയല്ല എന്നു ഞാന് അവരോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

16. I told them that this is not the way Romans do things. We don't judge people before they have faced those bringing charges against them. They must have a chance to speak up for themselves.

17. ആകയാല് അവര് ഇവിടെ വന്നു കൂടിയാറെ ഞാന് ഒട്ടും താമസിയാതെ പിറ്റെന്നു തന്നേ ന്യായാസനത്തില് ഇരുന്നു ആ പുരുഷനെ കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

17. When the Jews came back with me, I didn't waste any time. I called the court together the next day. I ordered the man to be brought in.

18. വാദികള് അവന്റെ ചുറ്റും നിന്നു ഞാന് നിരൂപിച്ചിരുന്ന കുറ്റം

18. Those bringing charges against him got up to speak. But they didn't charge him with any of the crimes I had expected.

19. ഒന്നും ബോധിപ്പിക്കാതെ സ്വന്തമതത്തെക്കുറിച്ചും ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പൌലൊസ് പറയുന്ന മരിച്ചുപോയ യേശു എന്നൊരുവനെക്കുറിച്ചും ചില തര്ക്കസംഗതികളെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നതേയുള്ളു.

19. Instead, they argued with him about their own beliefs. They didn't agree about a dead man named Jesus. Paul claimed Jesus was alive.

20. ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള വിഷയങ്ങളില് വിചാരണ നടത്തേണ്ടതു എങ്ങനെയെന്നു ഞാന് അറിയായ്കയാല്നിനക്കു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു പോയി അവിടെ ഈ സംഗതികളെക്കുറിച്ചു വിസ്താരം നടപ്പാന് സമ്മതമുണ്ടോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

20. 'I had no idea how to look into such matters. So I asked Paul if he would be willing to go to Jerusalem. There he could be tried on these charges.

21. എന്നാല് പൌലൊസ് ചക്രവര്ത്തിതിരുമനസ്സിലെ വിധിക്കായി തന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കേണം എന്നു അഭയംചൊല്ലുകയാല് കൈസരുടെ അടുക്കല് അയക്കുവോളം അവനെ സൂക്ഷിപ്പാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

21. But Paul made an appeal to have the Emperor decide his case. So I ordered him to be held until I could send him to Caesar.'

22. ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ പ്രസംഗം കേള്പ്പാന് എനിക്കും ആഗ്രഹമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നു അഗ്രിപ്പാവു ഫെസ്തൊസിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുനാളെ കേള്ക്കാം എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

22. Then Agrippa said to Festus, 'I would like to hear this man myself.' Festus replied, 'Tomorrow you will hear him.'

23. പിറ്റെന്നു അഗ്രിപ്പാവു ബെര്ന്നീക്കയുമായി വളരെ ആഡംബരത്തോടെ വന്നു. സഹസ്രാധിപതികളോടും നഗരത്തിലെ പ്രധാനികളോടും കൂടെ വിചാരണമണ്ഡപത്തില് വന്നാറെ ഫെസ്തൊസിന്റെ കല്പനയാല് പൌലൊസിനെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

23. The next day Agrippa and Bernice arrived. They acted like very important people. They entered the courtroom. The most important officers and the leading men of the city came with them. When Festus gave the command, Paul was brought in.

24. അപ്പോള് ഫെസ്തൊസ് പറഞ്ഞതുഅഗ്രിപ്പാരാജാവേ, ഇവിടെ വന്നു കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്ന സകല പുരുഷന്മാരുമായുള്ളോരേ, യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ സമൂഹം എല്ലാം യെരൂശലേമിലും ഇവിടെയും വെച്ചു എന്നോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കയും അവനെ ജീവനോടെ വെച്ചേക്കരുതു എന്നു നിലവിളിക്കയും ചെയ്തു ഈ മനുഷ്യനെ നിങ്ങള് കാണുന്നുവല്ലോ.

24. Festus said, 'King Agrippa, and all who are here with us, take a good look at this man! Both in Jerusalem and here in Caesarea a large number of Jews have come to me about him. They keep shouting that he shouldn't live any longer.

25. അവന് മരണയോഗ്യമായതു ഒന്നും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് ഗ്രഹിച്ചു; അവന് തന്നെയും ചക്രവര്ത്തിതിരുമനസ്സിലെ അഭയം ചൊല്ലുകയാല് അവനെ അയക്കേണം എന്നു വിധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

25. I have found that he hasn't done anything worthy of death. But he made his appeal to the Emperor. So I decided to send him to Rome.

26. അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു തിരുമേനിക്കു എഴുതുവാന് എനിക്കു നിശ്ചയമായതു ഒന്നുമില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു വിസ്താരം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു എഴുതുവാന് വല്ലതും ഉണ്ടാകേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പിലും വിശേഷാല് അഗ്രിപ്പാരാജാവേ, തിരുമുമ്പിലും വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. 'I don't have anything certain to write about him to His Majesty. So I have brought him here today. Now all of you will be able to hear him. King Agrippa, it will also be very good for you to hear him. As a result of this hearing, I will have something to write.

27. തടവുകാരനെ അയക്കുമ്പോള് അവന്റെ പേരിലുള്ള കുറ്റം കാണിക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നത് യുക്തമല്ല എന്നു തോന്നുന്നു.

27. It doesn't make sense to send a prisoner to Rome without listing the charges against him.'
