1. രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടശേഷം ദ്വീപിന്റെ പേര് മെലിത്ത എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് ഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

1. And when they had escaped, they then learned that the island was called Malta.

2. അവിടത്തെ ബര്ബരന്മാര് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു അസാധാരണ ദയ കാണിച്ചു മഴയും ശീതവും നിമിത്തം തീ കൂട്ടി ഞങ്ങളെ ഒക്കെയും കൈക്കൊണ്ടു.

2. And the barbarous people showed us no little kindness, for they kindled a fire and received us every one, because of the present rain and because of the cold.

3. പൌലൊസ് കുറെ വിറകു പെറുക്കി തീയില് ഇട്ടപ്പൊള് ഒരു അണലി ചൂടുനിമിത്തം പുറപ്പെട്ടു അവന്റെ കൈകൂ പറ്റി.

3. And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

4. ആ ജന്തു അവന്റെ കൈമേല് തൂങ്ങുന്നതു ബര്ബരന്മാര് കണ്ടപ്പോള്ഈ മനുഷ്യന് ഒരു കുലപാതകന് സംശയമില്ല; കടലിലല് നിന്നു രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടിട്ടും നീതിദേവി അവനെ ജീവിച്ചിരിപ്പാന് സമ്മതിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നു തമ്മില് പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hanging from his hand, they said among themselves, 'No doubt this man is a murderer whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.'

5. അവനോ ആ ജന്തുവിനെ തീയില് കുടഞ്ഞു കളഞ്ഞു, ദോഷം ഒന്നും പറ്റിയില്ല.

5. And he shook off the beast into the fire and felt no harm.

6. അവന് വീര്ക്കുംകയോ പെട്ടെന്നു ചത്തു വീഴുകയോ ചെയ്യും എന്നു വെച്ചു അവര് കാത്തുനിന്നു; വളരെ നേരം കാത്തുനിന്നിട്ടും അവന്നു ആപത്തു ഒന്നും ഭവിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നു കണ്ടു മനസ്സു മാറി അവന് ഒരു ദേവന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. Now they were expecting that he should have swollen or suddenly fallen down dead; but after watching a great while and seeing no harm come to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.

7. ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്റെ സമീപത്തു പുബ്ളിയൊസ് എന്ന ദ്വീപുപ്രമാണിക്കു ഒരു ജന്മഭൂമി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന് ഞങ്ങളെ ചേര്ത്തു മൂന്നു ദിവസം ആദരവോടെ അതിഥിസല്ക്കാരം ചെയ്തു.

7. In the same quarters were the possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius, who received us and lodged us three days courteously.

8. പുബ്ളിയൊസിന്റെ അപ്പന് പനിയും അതിസാരവും പിടിച്ചു കിടപ്പായിരുന്നു. പൌലൊസ് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് അകത്തു ചെന്നു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു അവന്റെമേല് കൈവെച്ചു സൌഖ്യം വരുത്തി.

8. And it came to pass that the father of Publius lay sick with a fever and a bloody flux. Paul entered in and prayed and laid his hands on him, and healed him.

9. ഇതു സംഭവിച്ചശേഷം ദ്വീപിലെ മറ്റു ദീനക്കാരും വന്നു സൌഖ്യം പ്രാപിച്ചു.

9. So when this was done, others also on the island who had diseases, came and were healed.

10. അവരും ഏറിയ സമ്മാനം തന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ മാനിച്ചു; ഞങ്ങള് കപ്പല് കയറുന്ന സമയം ആവശ്യമുള്ളതു കയറ്റിത്തന്നു.

10. These also honored us with many honors; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

11. മൂന്നു മാസം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം ആ ദ്വീപില് ശീതകാലം കഴിച്ചു കിടന്നിരുന്ന അശ്വനി ചിഹ്നമുള്ളോരു അലെക്സ ന്ത്രിയകപ്പലില് ഞങ്ങള് കയറി പുറപ്പെട്ടു,

11. And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered on the isle and whose sign was Castor and Pollux.

12. സുറക്കൂസയില് കരെക്കിറിങ്ങി മൂന്നു നാള് പാര്ത്തു; അവിടെ നിന്നു ചുറ്റി ഔടി രേഗ്യൊനില് എത്തി.

12. And landing at Syracuse, we tarried there three days.

13. ഒരു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു തെക്കങ്കാറ്റു അടിച്ചതിനാല് പിറ്റേന്നു പുത്യൊലിയില് എത്തി.

13. And from thence we followed a circiutous course and came to Rhegium. And a day later the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli.

14. അവിടെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ കണ്ടു തങ്ങളോടു കൂടെ ഏഴു നാള് താമസിക്കേണം എന്നു അവന് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; പിന്നെ ഞങ്ങള് റോമയില് എത്തി.

14. There we found brethren and were invited to tarry with them seven days; and so we went toward Rome.

15. അവിടത്തെ സഹോദരന്മാര് ഞങ്ങളുടെ വര്ത്തമാനം കേട്ടിട്ടു അപ്യപുരവും ത്രിമണ്ഡപവും വരെ ഞങ്ങളെ എതിരേറ്റു വന്നു; അവരെ കണ്ടിട്ടു പൌലൊസ് ദൈവത്തെ വാഴ്ത്തി ധൈര്യം പ്രാപിച്ചു.

15. And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as the Appii Forum and The Three Taverns. When Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage.

16. റോമയില് എത്തിയശേഷം തനിക്കു കാവലായ പടയാളിയോടുകൂടെ വേറിട്ടു പാര്പ്പാന് പൌലൊസിന്നു അനുവാദം കിട്ടി.

16. And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard, but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier who kept him.

17. മൂന്നു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവന് യെഹൂദന്മാരില് പ്രധാനികളായവരെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു. അവര് വന്നുകൂടിയപ്പോള് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതുസഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞാന് ജനത്തിന്നോ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ആചാരങ്ങള്ക്കോ വിരോധം ഒന്നും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ലാതിരിക്കെ എന്നെ യെരൂശലേമില്നിന്നു ബദ്ധനായി റോമക്കാരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു.

17. And it came to pass that after three days Paul called the chief Jews together; and when they had come together, he said unto them,'Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans,

18. അവര് വിസ്തരിച്ചാറെ മരണയോഗ്യമായതു ഒന്നും എന്നില് കാണായ്കയാല് എന്നെ വിട്ടയപ്പാന് അവര്ക്കും മനസുണ്ടായിരുന്നു

18. who, when they had examined me, would have let me go because there was no cause deserving of death in me.

19. എന്നാല് യെഹൂദന്മാര് എതിര്പറകയാല് ഞാന് കൈസരെ അഭയം ചൊല്ലേണ്ടിവന്നു; എന്റെ ജാതിയുടെ നേരെ അന്യായം ബോധിപ്പിപ്പാന് എനിക്കു യാതൊന്നും ഉണ്ടായിട്ടല്ലതാനും.

19. But when the Jews spoke against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar, not that I had anything to accuse my nation of.

20. ഇതു ഹേതുവായി നിങ്ങളെ കണ്ടു സംസാരിക്കേണം എന്നുവെച്ചു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു. യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പ്രത്യാശനിമിത്തം ആകുന്നു ഞാന് ഈ ചങ്ങല ചുമക്കുന്നതു.

20. For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you and to speak with you, because it is for the hope of Israel that I am bound with this chain.'

21. അവര് അവനോടു; നിന്റെ സംഗതിക്കു യെഹൂദ്യയില് നിന്നു ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുത്തു വരികയോ സഹോദരന്മാരില് ആരും വന്നു നിന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു യാതൊരു ദോഷവുംപറകയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല.

21. And they said unto him, 'We neither received letters from Judea concerning thee, nor did any of the brethren who came show or speak any harm of thee.

22. എങ്കിലും ഈ മതഭേദത്തിന്നു എല്ലായിടത്തും വിരോധം പറയുന്നു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നതിനാല് നിന്റെ മതം ഇന്നതു എന്നു നീ തന്നേ പറഞ്ഞുകേള്പ്പാന് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. But we desire to hear from thee what thou thinkest; for concerning this sect, we know that everywhere it is spoken against.

23. ഒരു ദിവസം നിശ്ചയിച്ചിട്ടു പലരും അവന്റെ പാര്പ്പിടത്തില് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു; അവരോടു അവന് ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിന്നു സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞു മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണവും പ്രവാചകപുസ്തകങ്ങളും ആധാരമാക്കി യേശുവിനെക്കുറിച്ചു അവര്ക്കും ബോധം വരുമാറു രാവിലെ തുടങ്ങി സന്ധ്യവരെ വിവരിച്ചു.

23. And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging, to whom he expounded and testified the Kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the Law of Moses and out of the Prophets, from morning until evening.

24. അവന് പറഞ്ഞതു ചിലര് സമ്മതിച്ചു; ചിലര് വിശ്വസിച്ചില്ല.

24. And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

25. അവര് തമ്മില് യോജിക്കാതെ പിരിഞ്ഞുപോകുമ്പോള് പൌലൊസ് അവരോടു ഒരു വാക്കു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

25. And when they were unable to agree among themselves, they departed after Paul had spoken one word: 'Well spoke the Holy Ghost through Isaiah the prophet unto our fathers,

26. “നിങ്ങള് ചെവികൊണ്ടു കേട്ടിട്ടും ഗ്രഹിക്കാതിരിക്കും; കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു കണ്ടിട്ടും കാണാതിരിക്കും; കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു കാണാതെയും ചെവികൊണ്ടു കേള്ക്കാതെയും ഹൃദയംകൊണ്ടു ഗ്രഹിച്ചു മനന്തിരിയാതെയും .
യെശയ്യാ 6:9-10

26. saying, `Go unto this people and say, 'Hearing, ye shall hear and shall not understand; and seeing, ye shall see and not perceive.

27. ഞാന് അവരെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കാതെയും ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഹൃദയം തടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. അവരുടെ ചെവി കേള്പ്പാന് മന്ദമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ കണ്ണു അടെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കല് പോയി പറക” എന്നിങ്ങനെ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന് മുഖാന്തരം നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതു ശരി തന്നേ.

27. For the heart of this people has waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.''

28. ആകയാല് ദൈവം തന്റെ ഈ രക്ഷ ജാതികള്ക്കു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് കേള്ക്കും എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിഞ്ഞുകൊള്വിന് .

28. 'Be it known therefore unto you that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.'

29. അവന് കൂലിക്കു വാങ്ങിയ വീട്ടില് രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം മുഴുവന് പാര്ത്തു, തന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുന്നവരെ ഒക്കെയും കൈക്കൊണ്ടു

29. And when he had said these words, the Jews departed and had great reasoning among themselves.

30. പൂര്ണ്ണ പ്രാഗത്ഭ്യത്തോടെ വിഘ്നംകൂടാതെ ദൈവരാജ്യം പ്രസംഗിച്ചും കര്ത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ഉപദേശിച്ചും പോന്നു.

30. And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house and received all who came in unto him,
