1. എന്നാല് നമ്മുടെ പൂര്വ്വപിതാവായ അബ്രാഹാം ജഡപ്രകാരം എന്തു പ്രാപിച്ചു എന്നു പറയേണ്ടു?

1. What then shall we say that our father Abraham has found, according to flesh?

2. അബ്രാഹാം പ്രവൃത്തിയാല് നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടു എങ്കില് അവന്നു പ്രശംസിപ്പാന് സംഗതി ഉണ്ടു; ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് ഇല്ലതാനും,
ഉല്പത്തി 15:6

2. For if Abraham was justified by works, he has a boast; but not before God.

3. തിരുവെഴുത്തു എന്തു പറയുന്നു? “അബ്രാഹാം ദൈവത്തെ വിശ്വസിച്ചു; അതു അവന്നു നീതിയായി കണക്കിട്ടു” എന്നു തന്നേ.

3. For what does the Scripture say? 'Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.'

4. എന്നാല് പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നവന്നു കൂലി കണക്കിടുന്നതു കൃപയായിട്ടല്ല കടമായിട്ടത്രേ.

4. But to him working, the reward is not reckoned according to grace, but according to debt.

5. പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കാത്തവന് എങ്കിലും അഭക്തനെ നിതീകരിക്കുന്നവനില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന്നോ അവന്റെ വിശ്വാസം നീതിയായി കണക്കിടുന്നു.

5. But to him not working, but believing on Him justifying the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

6. ദൈവം പ്രവൃത്തിക്കുടാതെ നീതികണക്കിടുന്ന മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഭാഗ്യം ദാവീദും വര്ണ്ണിക്കുന്നതു

6. Even as David also says of the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness without works,

7. “അധര്മ്മം മോചിച്ചും പാപം മറെച്ചും കിട്ടിയവര് ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാര്.
സങ്കീർത്തനങ്ങൾ 32:1-2

7. saying, 'Blessed are those whose lawlessnesses are forgiven, and whose sins are covered;

8. കര്ത്താവു പാപം കണക്കിടാത്ത മനുഷ്യന് ഭാഗ്യവാന് .”

8. blessed is the man to whom the Lord will in no way impute sin.'

9. ഈ ഭാഗ്യവര്ണ്ണനം പരിച്ഛേദനെക്കോ? അഗ്രചര്മ്മത്തിന്നു കൂടെയോ? അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു വിശ്വാസം നീതിയായി കണക്കിട്ടു എന്നല്ലോ നാം പറയുന്നതു.

9. Is this blessedness then on the circumcision only, or on the uncircumcision also? For we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.

10. എങ്ങനെ കണക്കിട്ടതു? പരിച്ഛേദനയിലോ? അഗ്രചര്മ്മത്തിലോ? പരിച്ഛേദനയിലല്ല. അഗ്രചര്മ്മത്തിലത്രേ.

10. How then was it reckoned? Being in circumcision or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.

11. അഗ്രചര്മ്മത്തില്വെച്ചു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു വിശ്വാസനീതിക്കു മുദ്രയായി പരിച്ഛേദന എന്ന അടയാളം അവന്നു ലഭിച്ചതു അഗ്രചര്മ്മത്തോട വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും കൂടെ നീതി കണക്കിടപ്പെടുവാന്തക്കവണ്ണം താന് അവര്ക്കും എല്ലാവര്ക്കും പിതാവായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും

11. And he received a sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith while still uncircumcised; so that he might be the father of all those believing through uncircumcision, for righteousness to be imputed to them also;

12. പരിച്ഛേദന മാത്രമുള്ളവരല്ല നമ്മുടെ പിതാവായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു അഗ്രചര്മ്മത്തില്വെച്ചു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന വിശ്വാസത്തെ അനുഗമിക്കുന്നവരുമായ പരിച്ഛേദനക്കാര്ക്കും പിതാവായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും തന്നേ.

12. and a father of circumcision to those not of the circumcision only, but also to those walking by the steps of the faith of our father Abraham during uncircumcision.

13. ലോകാവകാശി ആകും എന്നുള്ള വാഗ്ദത്തം അബ്രാഹാമിന്നോ അവന്റെ സന്തതിക്കോ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്താലല്ല വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ നീതിയാലല്ലോ ലഭിച്ചതു.

13. For the promise that he should be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith.

14. എന്നാല് ന്യായപ്രമാണമുള്ളവര് അവകാശികള് എങ്കില് വിശ്വാസം വ്യര്ത്ഥവും വാഗ്ദത്തം ദുര്ബ്ബലവും എന്നു വരും.

14. For if they of the Law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise is made of no effect;

15. ന്യായപ്രമാണമോ കോപത്തിന്നു ഹേതുവാകുന്നു; ന്യായപ്രമാണം ഇല്ലാത്തേടത്തു ലംഘനവുമില്ല.

15. because the Law works out wrath, for where no law is, there is no transgression.

16. അതു കൊണ്ടു കൃപാദാനം എന്നു വരേണ്ടതിന്നു വിശ്വാസത്താലത്രേ അവകാശികള് ആകുന്നതു; വാഗ്ദത്തം സകലസന്തതിക്കും, ന്യായപ്രമാണമുള്ളവര്ക്കും മാത്രമല്ല, അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ വിശ്വാസമുള്ളവര്ക്കും കൂടെ ഉറപ്പാകേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നെ.

16. Therefore it is of faith so that it might be according to grace; for the promise to be made sure to all the seed, not only to that which is of the Law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all

17. മരിച്ചവരെ ജീവിപ്പിക്കയും ഇല്ലാത്തതിനെ ഉള്ളതിനെപ്പോലെ വിളിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവനായി താന് വിശ്വസിച്ച ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയില് അവന് നമുക്കെല്ലാവര്ക്കും പിതാവാകേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ. “ഞാന് നിന്നെ ബഹുജാതികള്ക്കു പിതാവാക്കിവെച്ചു” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

17. (as it has been written, 'I have made you a father of many nations') --before God, whom he believed, who makes the dead live, and calls the things which do not exist as though they do exist.

18. “നിന്റെ സന്തതി ഇവ്വണ്ണം ആകും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ താന് ബഹുജാതികള്ക്കു പിതാവാകും എന്നു അവന് ആശെക്കു വിരോധമായി ആശയോടെ വിശ്വസിച്ചു.

18. For he who beyond hope believed on hope for him to become the father of many nations (according to that which was spoken, 'So your seed shall be').

19. അവന് ഏകദേശം നൂറു വയസ്സുള്ളവനാകയാല് തന്റെ ശരീരം നിര്ജ്ജീവമായിപ്പോയതും സാറയുടെ ഗര്ഭപാത്രത്തിന്റെ നിര്ജ്ജീവത്വവും ഗ്രഹിച്ചിട്ടും വിശ്വാസത്തില് ക്ഷീണിച്ചില്ല.

19. And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body already dead (being about a hundred years old) or the deadening of Sarah's womb.

20. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വാഗ്ദത്തത്തിങ്കല് അവിശ്വാസത്താല് സംശയിക്കാതെ വിശ്വാസത്തില് ശക്തിപ്പെട്ടു ദൈവത്തിന്നു മഹത്വം കൊടുത്തു,

20. He did not stagger at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God,

21. അവന് വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്തതു പ്രവര്ത്തിപ്പാനും ശക്തന് എന്നു പൂര്ണ്ണമായി ഉറെച്ചു.

21. and being fully persuaded that what God had promised, He was also able to perform.

22. അതുകൊണ്ടു അതു അവന്നു നീതിയായി കണക്കിട്ടു.

22. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

23. അവന്നു കണക്കിട്ടു എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു അവനെ വിചാരിച്ചു മാത്രം അല്ല,

23. Now it was not written for him alone that it was imputed to him,

24. നമ്മെ വിചാരിച്ചുംകൂടെ ആകുന്നു. നമ്മുടെ അതിക്രമങ്ങള് നിമിത്തം മരണത്തിന്നു ഏല്പിച്ചും നമ്മുടെ നീതീകരണത്തിന്നായി ഉയിര്പ്പിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്ന

24. but for us also to whom it is to be imputed, to the ones believing on Him who has raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

25. നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുവിനെ മരിച്ചവരില്നിന്നു ഉയര്പ്പിച്ചവനില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന നമുക്കും കണക്കിടുവാനുള്ളതാകയാല് തന്നേ.

25. who was delivered because of our offenses and was raised for our justification.
