1. പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, ഈ വാഗ്ദത്തങ്ങള് നമുക്കു ഉള്ളതുകൊണ്ടു നാം ജഡത്തിലെയും ആത്മാവിലെയും സകല കന്മഷവും നീക്കി നമ്മെത്തന്നേ വെടിപ്പാക്കി ദൈവഭയത്തില് വിശുദ്ധിയെ തികെച്ചുകൊള്ക.

1. Seyng that we haue these promises (dearely beloued) let vs clense our selues from all fylthynesse of the flesshe & spirite, and growe vp to full holynesse in the feare of God.

2. നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉള്ളില് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ഇടം തരുവിന് ; ഞങ്ങള് ആരോടും അന്യായം ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല, ആരെയും കെടുത്തീട്ടില്ല; ആരോടും ഒന്നും വഞ്ചിച്ചെടുത്തിട്ടുമില്ല.

2. Understande vs, we haue wronged no man, we haue corrupt no man, we haue defrauded no man.

3. കുറ്റം വിധിപ്പാനല്ല ഞാന് ഇതു പറയുന്നതു; ഒരുമിച്ചു മരിപ്പാനും ഒരുമിച്ചു ജീവിപ്പാനും നിങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞാന് മുമ്പുതന്നെ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.

3. I speake not this to condempne you: for I haue shewed you before, that ye are in our heartes to dye and lyue with you.

4. നിങ്ങളോടു എനിക്കുള്ള പ്രാഗത്ഭ്യം വലിയതു; നിങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള എന്റെ പ്രശംസ വലിയതു; ഞാന് ആശ്വാസംകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങളുടെ സകല കഷ്ടതയിലും സന്തോഷം എനിക്കു കവിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. I am very bolde ouer you, I reioyce greatly in you. I am fylled with comfort, and am exceedyng ioyous in all our tribulation.

5. ഞങ്ങള് മക്കെദോന്യയില് എത്തിയ ശേഷവും ഞങ്ങളുടെ ജഡത്തിന്നു ഒട്ടും സുഖമല്ല എല്ലാവിധത്തിലും കഷ്ടമത്രേ ഉണ്ടായതു; പുറത്തു യുദ്ധം, അകത്തു ഭയം.

5. For when we were come into Macedonia, our flesshe had no rest, but we were troubled on euery syde: Outward was fyghtyng, inward was feare.

6. എങ്കിലും എളിയവരെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ദൈവം തീതൊസിന്റെ വരവിനാല് ഞങ്ങളെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിച്ചു.
യെശയ്യാ 49:13

6. Neuerthelesse, God that comforteth the humble, comforted vs by the commyng of Titus.

7. അവന്റെ വരവിനാല് മാത്രമല്ല, അവന്നു നിങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ടു ലഭിച്ച ആശ്വാസത്താലുംകൂടെ; നിങ്ങളുടെ വാഞ്ഛയും നിങ്ങളുടെ വിലാപവും എനിക്കായുള്ള നിങ്ങളുടെ എരിവും ഞങ്ങളോടു അറിയിച്ചതിനാല് തന്നേ. അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് അധികമായി സന്തോഷിച്ചു.

7. And not by his comming only, but also by the consolatio whiche we receaued of you, when he tolde vs your desire, your wepyng, your feruent mynde towarde me, so that I reioyced the more.

8. ഞാന് ലേഖനത്താല് നിങ്ങളെ ദുഃഖിപ്പിച്ചു എന്നു വരികിലും ഞാന് അനുതപിക്കുന്നില്ല; ആ ലേഖനം നിങ്ങളെ കുറയനേരത്തേക്കെങ്കിലും ദുഃഖിപ്പിച്ചു എന്നു കാണുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു മുമ്പെ അനുതപിച്ചു എങ്കിലും ഇപ്പോള് ഞാന് സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു;

8. For though I made you sorie with a letter, I repent not, though I dyd repent. For I perceaue, that the same epistle made you sorie, though it were but for a season.

9. നിങ്ങള് ദുഃഖിച്ചതിനാലല്ല, മാനസാന്തരത്തിന്നായി ദുഃഖിച്ചതിനാല് അത്രേ. നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഞങ്ങളാല് ഒന്നിലും ചേതം വരാതവണ്ണം ദൈവഹിതപ്രകാരമല്ലോ നിങ്ങള് ദുഃഖിച്ചതു.

9. I nowe reioyce, not that ye were sorie, but that ye so sorowed to repent: for ye sorowed godly, so that in nothyng ye were hurt by vs.

10. ദൈവഹിതപ്രകാരമുള്ള ദുഃഖം അനുതാപം വരാത്ത മാനസാന്തരത്തെ രക്ഷെക്കായി ഉളവാക്കുന്നു; ലോകത്തിന്റെ ദുഃഖമോ മരണത്തെ ഉളവാക്കുന്നു.

10. For godly sorowe, causeth repentaunce vnto saluatio, not to be repented of: but the sorowe of the world causeth death.

11. ദൈവഹിതപ്രകാരം നിങ്ങള്ക്കുണ്ടായ ഈ ദുഃഖം എത്ര ഉത്സാഹം, എത്ര പ്രതിവാദം, എത്ര നീരസം, എത്ര ഭയം, എത്ര വാഞ്ഛ, എത്ര എരിവു, എത്ര പ്രതികാരം നിങ്ങളില് ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ഈ കാര്യ്യത്തില് നിങ്ങള് നിര്മ്മലന്മാര് എന്നു എല്ലാവിധത്തിലും കാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

11. For beholde this thing, what carefulnesse this godly sorow that ye toke, hath wrought in you: yea [what] clearing of your selues, yea [what] indignation, yea [what] feare, yea [what] vehemet desire, yea [what] zeale, yea [what] punishment. For in all thynges ye haue shewed your selues that ye were cleare in ye matter.

12. ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയതു അന്യായം ചെയ്തവന് നിമിത്തം അല്ല, അന്യായം അനുഭവിച്ചവന് നിമിത്തവുമല്ല, ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു വേണ്ടിയുള്ള നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉത്സാഹം ദൈവത്തിന് മുമ്പാകെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് വെളിപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

12. Wherefore, though I wrote vnto you, I dyd it not for his cause that had done the hurt, neither for his cause that was hurt: but that your good minde to vswarde myght appeare among you in the syght of God.

13. അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ആശ്വാസം വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങളുടെ ആശ്വാസമൊഴികെ തീതൊസിന്റെ മനസ്സിന്നു നിങ്ങളെല്ലാവരാലും തണുപ്പു വന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്നുണ്ടായ സന്തോഷംനിമിത്തം ഞങ്ങള് എത്രയും അധികം സന്തോഷിച്ചു.

13. Therfore we are comforted, because ye are comforted: yea and exceedyngly the more ioyed we, for the ioy that Titus had, because his spirite was refreshed by you all.

14. അവനോടു നിങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു വല്ലതും പ്രശംസിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കില് ഞാന് ലജ്ജിച്ചു പോയിട്ടില്ല; ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളോടു സകലവും സത്യമായി പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ തീതൊസിനോടു ഞങ്ങള് പ്രശംസിച്ചതും സത്യമായി വന്നു.

14. I am therefore not nowe ashamed, though I boasted my selfe to hym of you. For as all thinges which we spake vnto you are true: euen so our boastyng that I made vnto Titus is made true.

15. അവനെ ഭയത്തോടും വിറയലോടും കൈക്കൊണ്ടതില് നിങ്ങളെല്ലാവരും കാണിച്ച അനുസരണം അവന് ഔര്ക്കുംമ്പോള് നിങ്ങളോടുള്ള അവന്റെ അനുരാഗം അത്യന്തം വര്ദ്ധിക്കുന്നു.

15. And his inwarde affection is more aboundaunt towarde you, when he remembred the obedience of you all, howe with feare and tremblyng ye receaued hym.

16. നിങ്ങളെ സംബന്ധിച്ചു എല്ലാ കാര്യ്യത്തിലും ധൈര്യ്യപ്പെടുവാന് ഇടയുള്ളതിനാല് ഞാന് സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു.

16. I reioyce that I may be bolde in you in all thynges.
