1. മക്കളേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാരെ കര്ത്താവില് അനുസരിപ്പിന് ; അതു ന്യായമല്ലോ.

1. Children obey your fathers and mothers(elders) in the Lord: for so is it right.

2. “നിനക്കു നന്മ ഉണ്ടാകുവാനും നീ ഭൂമിയില് ദീര്ഘായുസ്സോടിരിപ്പാനും

2. Honour (thy) father and mother, that is the first commandment that hath any promise,

3. നിന്റെ അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും ബഹുമാനിക്ക” എന്നതു വാഗ്ദത്തത്തോടുകൂടിയ ആദ്യകല്പന ആകുന്നു.

3. that thou mayst be in good estate,(mayest prosper) and live long on the(upon) earth.

4. (And ye) Fathers, move(provoke) not your children to wrath: but bring them up with the nurture and information of the Lord.

5. ദാസന്മാരേ, ജഡപ്രകാരം യജമാനന്മാരായവരെ ക്രിസ്തുവിനെപ്പോലെ തന്നേ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ ഏകാഗ്രതയില് ഭയത്തോടും വിറയലോടും കൂടെ അനുസരിപ്പിന് .

5. Servants be obedient unto your carnal masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your hearts, as unto Christ:

6. ദൃഷ്ടിസേവയാല് അല്ല, ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരെപ്പോലെ ദൈവേഷ്ടം മനസ്സോടെ ചെയ്തും

6. not with service in the eye sight, as men pleasers: but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart

7. മനുഷ്യരെയല്ല കര്ത്താവിനെ തന്നേ പ്രീതിയോടെ സേവിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു അനുസരിപ്പിന് .

7. with good will, even as though ye served the Lord,(serving the Lord) and not men.

8. ദാസനോ സ്വതന്ത്രനോ ഔരോരുത്തന് ചെയ്യുന്ന നന്മെക്കു കര്ത്താവില് നിന്നു പ്രതിഫലം പ്രാപിക്കും എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

8. And remember that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, that shall he receive again of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

9. യജമാനന്മാരേ, അവരുടെയും നിങ്ങളുടെയും യജമാനന് സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് ഉണ്ടെന്നും അവന്റെ പക്കല് മുഖപക്ഷം ഇല്ലെന്നും അറിഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ അവരോടു പെരുമാറുകയും ഭീഷണിവാക്കു ഒഴിക്കയും ചെയ്വിന് .

9. And ye masters, do even the same things unto them, putting away threatenings: and remember(know) that even your master also is in heaven, neither is there any respect of person with him.

10. ഒടുവില് കര്ത്താവിലും അവന്റെ അമിത ബലത്തിലും ശക്തിപ്പെടുവിന് .

10. Finally, my brethren be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11. പിശാചിന്റെ തന്ത്രങ്ങളോടു എതിര്ത്തുനില്പാന് കഴിയേണ്ടതിന്നു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സര്വ്വായുധവര്ഗ്ഗം ധരിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് .

11. Put on the armour of God, that ye may stand steadfast against the crafty assaults of the devil.

12. നമുക്കു പോരാട്ടം ഉള്ളതു ജഡരക്തങ്ങളോടല്ല, വാഴ്ചകളോടും അധികാരങ്ങളോടും ഈ അന്ധകാരത്തിന്റെ ലോകാധിപതികളോടും സ്വര്ല്ലോകങ്ങളിലെ ദുഷ്ടാത്മസേനയോടും അത്രേ.

12. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood: but against rule, against power, (namely) and against worldly rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in(for) heavenly things.(under the heaven)

13. അതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങള് ദുര്ദ്ദിവസത്തില് എതിര്പ്പാനും സകലവും സമാപിച്ചിട്ടു ഉറെച്ചു നില്പാനും കഴിയേണ്ടതിന്നു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സര്വ്വായുധവര്ഗ്ഗം എടുത്തുകൊള്വിന് .

13. For this cause take unto you the armour of God, that ye may be able to resist in the evil day, and to stand perfect in all things.

14. നിങ്ങളുടെ അരെക്കു സത്യം കെട്ടിയും നീതി എന്ന കവചം ധരിച്ചും

14. Stand therefore and your loins gird about with verity,(trueth) having on the breastplate of righteousness,

15. സമാധാനസുവിശേഷത്തിന്നായുള്ള ഒരുക്കം
യെശയ്യാ 49:3-9, യെശയ്യാ 52:7, നഹൂം 1:15

15. and shod with shoes prepared by the gospel(gospell) of peace.

16. കാലിന്നു ചെരിപ്പാക്കിയും എല്ലാറ്റിന്നും മീതെ ദുഷ്ടന്റെ തീയമ്പുകളെ ഒക്കെയും കെടുക്കുവാന്തക്കതായ വിശ്വാസം എന്ന പരിച എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടും നില്പിന് .

16. Above all take to you the shield of faith, wherewith ye may quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17. രക്ഷ എന്ന ശിരസ്ത്രവും ദൈവവചനം എന്ന ആത്മാവിന്റെ വാളും കൈക്കൊള്വിന് .

17. And take the helmet of health,(salvation) and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God,

18. സകലപ്രാര്ത്ഥനയാലും യാചനയാലും ഏതു നേരത്തും ആത്മാവില് പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചും അതിന്നായി ജാഗരിച്ചും കൊണ്ടു സകലവിശുദ്ധന്മാര്ക്കും എനിക്കും വേണ്ടി പ്രാര്ത്ഥനയില് പൂര്ണ്ണസ്ഥിരത കാണിപ്പിന് .

18. and pray always with all manner prayer and supplication: and that in the spirit: and watch thereunto with all instance and supplication for all saints,

19. ഞാന് ചങ്ങല ധരിച്ചു സ്ഥാനാപതിയായി സേവിക്കുന്ന സുവിശേഷത്തിന്റെ മര്മ്മം പ്രാഗത്ഭ്യത്തോടെ അറിയിപ്പാന് എന്റെ വായി തുറക്കുമ്പോള് എനിക്കു വചനം നല്കപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നും

19. and for me, that utterance(the word) may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth(mought) boldly, to utter the secrets of the gospel,(gospell)

20. ഞാന് സംസാരിക്കേണ്ടുംവണ്ണം അതില് പ്രാഗത്ഭ്യത്തോടെ സംസാരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും പ്രാര്ത്ഥിപ്പിന് .

20. whereof I am a messenger in bonds, that therein I may speak freely, as it becometh me to speak.

21. ഞാന് എങ്ങനെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു എന്റെ അവസ്ഥ നിങ്ങളും അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു പ്രിയ സഹോദരനും കര്ത്താവില് വിശ്വസ്ത ശുശ്രൂഷകനുമായ തിഹിക്കോസ് നിങ്ങളോടു സകലവും അറിയിക്കും.

21. But that ye may also know that condition(case) I am in, and what I do, Tichicus my dear brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall shew you of all things,

22. നിങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളുടെ വസ്തുത അറിവാനും അവന് നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിപ്പാനുമായി ഞാന് അവനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

22. whom I sent unto you for the same purpose,(cause) that ye might know what case I stand in, and that he might comfort your hearts.

23. പിതാവായ ദൈവത്തിങ്കല്നിന്നും കര്ത്താവായ യേശു ക്രിസ്തുവിങ്കല് നിന്നും സഹോദരന്മാര്ക്കും സമാധാനവും വിശ്വാസത്തോടുകൂടിയ സ്നേഹവും ഉണ്ടാകട്ടെ.

23. Peace be with(unto) the brethren, and love with faith from God the father, and from the Lord Jesu Christ.

24. നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിനെ അക്ഷയമായി സ്നേഹിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാവരോടും കൂടെ കൃപ ഇരിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.
